"Subscribe to Newsletter" ability when completing "Contact Us" form

Hi there, apologies if this question has been answered elsewhere but I have not been able to find an answer in the forums or elsewhere.

Here is what I am looking to achieve: On the "Contact Us" page I wish for the ability for a visitor to tick "Subscribe to Newsletter" when completing the contact form and for their name and email address to be added to the subscribed list.

Is this possible and if so how would I go about implementing this? My thanks in advance for any assistance.

In Zen Cart v1.x.x, that's not possible without installing a complicated addon named "Newsletter Subscribe".
Without that addon, the only way for people to sign onto the built-in newsletter tracking is to create an account and opt in.
Optionally, you could add the simple MailChimp sidebox addon and handle your newsletters through the MailChimp service. See the Free Addons area to explore.

In Zen Cart v2.0.0 (still in development), the newsletter subscription functionality is separated from the customer accounts, so opt-ins can happen without having to create an account. So, at least that's something to look forward to :)
