Salemaker and linked products in 1.3.9c
I've not used salemaker before so I'm clueless as to the details. Putting a category on sale where all products have one master category id. The category has the linked products. It doesn't work - nothing gets put on sale. Is this not possible with linked products?
Re: Salemaker and linked products in 1.3.9c
Sale Maker only works with the master_categories_id of the Products ...
Are you able to switch the master_categories_id of the Products to the categories_id for the Category that you want on sale?
There is a feature for this, btw if you hit the Copy button and go to the Multiple Categories Linker and at the bottom of the page you can have it make all Products in a specified Category use that as the master_categories_id ...
You might make a backup of your database before working with this until you get the hang of it ...

Thanks a lot, that clears up my confusion.

From a SEO perspective, this is a major drawback. Instead it should just check if the product is within the category that is on sale.

Perhaps if you peek at the View Source and see the canonical values for Products that are Linked Products that will help with this issue?

completelly agree... plus.. it is a real pain to switch categories for master categories.. there is no way of doing it in a bulk.. only 1 by 1... it is quite stoneage to be frank.

If you want to set ALL Products in a Category to use its categories_id as the master_categories_id then find a Product in that Category and hit the C for Copy ...
Click the Multiple Categories Links Manager button ...
At the bottom of the page is:
Quote:
Reset ALL Products in the selected Category to use the selected Category as the new Master Categories ID ...
Example: Resetting Category 22 would set ALL Products in Category 22 to use Category 22 as the Master Category ID
