Date of Despatch

Is it possible to add a date of despatch to 'update' emails sent out through the order status in the admin?

why dont you just add an order status label called dispatched, which will date stamp and email whenever you place an order under that label?

ok do you know what file I need to edit to add an order status label? I can't find it, expected it to be in a language file.

admin > localisation > order status :)
