how to set certain products to unlimited?

i have some products that are by a per-order basis (gates, doors etc..), and some that we can deliver straight away and have limited quantity (accessories), i know you can set substract and check stock level to false in the admin but this will set all products.. how do i set it for certain products only?

The short answer is you can't.. (if I am wrong someone will undoubtedly correct me)

so set the stock levels for those products to some ridiculously high quantity like "999999".. Then you don't have to worry about it for a while (though I certainly hope you sell out of that quantity!:smile:)

This is also the technique I use (although I personally favor 1000000). :)

And generally speaking customers are not interested in knowing how many you have IN STOCK - they will be concerned when you are SHORT OF STOCK or OUT OF STOCK - so it may be an idea to HIDE stock quantities from the product display pages. When / if these are OUT OF STOCK, or SHORT, then you can elect to display OUT OF STOCK messages and choose whether you want to allow checkout in these situations.
