Email Error: SMTP Error: Data not accepted.
Over the last 2 days we've started getting the below error message
ERROR: Failed sending email to: "David Tyacke" with subject: "Order Update #2836" SMTP Error: Data not accepted.
The message appears when we try and add comments to the customers order then change the status and then send them a notification.
If we choose not to notify the customer then the comments are successfully added and no error is shown. Im presumption this is more a e-mail problem than a database entry problem.
I have checked in our e-mail options (mailbox name, password and SMTP Host) and nothing has changed. I have spoken to our hosting provider and they also say nothing has changed!
Does anyone have any suggestions
Thanks
Tony

This is a generic error message that is *usually* accompanied with a secondary message that details *why* the data wasn't accepted.
Assuming that you didn't truncate the rest of the error response you see, you may find the 'other part' in the error log files.

Have you actually confirmed that the problem only started over the last two days, or is it possible that you haven't been adding comments until two days ago, and the problem itself may have been sitting there waiting to be triggered for weeks, or perhaps months?

Although both you and your hosting provider are assuring us that 'nothing has changed', the fact is, if it has been working and now it isn't, then SOMEONE has changed SOMETHING.
