IH and Zen Colorbox vs Zen Lightbox?

Sorry to post this here because maybe it is not directly an IH question (?), but I can't figure out where else to put it. Your profile says don't take questions via pm, so I had to put it somewhere public.
Anyway, here it is - - - - -
I was planning to use lightbox with IH, decided to check around and make sure I could use it with zc154. Low and behold, I found a post from you directly on the subject:

That's from Sep of last year. I pulled color box add-on that you mention, but it only says zc151. And and and... the IH install instructions don't include anything specific to colorbox, everything under the MISC tab is specific to lightbox and/or fual slimbox (which also appears out dated).
Am I safe to use lightbox? I ask because I found yet another *much* more recent thread from you:

In that thread, you are using lightbox + IH on zc154. So it seems like it can be done and is being done.

I think if you continue through that thread about the phpBB issue, it is stated that colorbox is actually installed. I didn't call it out as it wasn't pertinent to the issue at hand. Lightbox if you look through some more posts isn't supported with jquery above a certain version, I think it was 1.8.3. ZC 1.5.4 includes calls to jquery 1.11.1 and trying to use both at the same time just causes trouble... This is why colorbox has been suggested as it is supported and works with higher levels of jquery. As to specific installation, yes colorbox can be installed with IH4, the details of which fail me at the moment, but it is not complicated and actually think more might be available on the colorbox thread about accomplishing this (or in the docs for the same).

Hi, thank you so much for the info!
I have arrived at the conclusion colorbox is the way to go. Having reviewed it's support thread and not finding any clear instructions on IH+colorbox, I decided to simply download the colorbox install. I'm going thru both addons right now, comparing them to see if they have common files. If so, I'll just merge them.
Unfortunately, colorbox wants you to already have a template installed, so I guess I'll go do that first, then come back to this comparing task.
I'll post my findings up here in case anybody else ends up in the same boat.

IH4 also expects a template to be installed, both apps basically install to the active template. Ideally the active template should not be the classic template for any install otherwise lose out on one of the troubleshooting tools of reverting to the classic template. Now a copy of the classic template, that's fine, but shouldn't be the classic template itself.

Well... pooh.
Bummer. IH was my second addon, first being Backup mySQL. So I'll just revert back.
Guess I have to bug my client to pick a template, then I can move on.

Actually this is not correct.. The author stopped maintaining Zen Lightbox because the underlying library (Slimbox) is out of date. The author instead released Zen Colorbox..

The installation is the SAME as how you install with IH4 and Zen Lightbox.. NO DIFFERENCE!!!

Nope it's not....
Can we please move any further discussions about the merits of Zen Lightbox and Zen Colorbox (including ANY installation questions) to the support threads for these modules.. The fact that they interact with IH4 doesn't mean that this is the right place for the discussion..

WHY?? if you name your template folder "custom_template", then when you client picks a template, you simply RENAME the folders for the template you use to "custom_template".. That way you can move forward without being hamstringed by waiting for a template to be selected..
