Missing What's New from main page
I'm admittedly rusty with ZenCart but didn't have any problems on the site until I upgraded to 155f, 155e was the last upgrade I did for this person and when I did the upgrade to 155f the What's New section of the site on the main page has vanished, looking at the page source I see this:

Nothing is showing up in the logs, I don't have a list of mods installed on the site as I didn't put it together but I know she has the column layout stuff in there and free gifts from Custom Scriptz. The server is running PHP 5.6.3

Although the 1.5.5f upgrade shouldn't have changed the database, you could check that Admin > Configuration > Index Listing > Show New Products on Main Page = 1

Actually, the fact you have

indicates that
Show New Products on Main Page does equal 1. I wonder if it could just be that there are no new products. You could set the
Admin > Configuration > Maximum Values > New Product Listing - Limited to = 0 and see if you get any products displaying.

What about featured and specials, are they showing/expected to show?

Well I'll be damned, thank you folks for saving me from pulling out the last few hairs I have left on my head !!! She just hadn't added anything so it wasn't showing.

Be sure to verify that whatever product is shown on the main page also appears in the associated category. Say this again because based on php version, a modification may still be necessary for php 7.1+: https://github.com/zencart/zencart/pull/1614/files
