Test Order for Downloadable Product; Not Being Redirected to Download After Checkout

I have a free downloadable product listed as a test.

On the admin side I have redirect enabled in configuration, I have the file uploaded, the product listed, the attributes panel is set to "radio" and the downloads manager gives me the green light.

On the storefront side I'm able to make an account, buy the product and be taken to checkout success...but I'm given a choice of radio buttons; one saying "Text" which I can't seem to get rid of, and the other saying "Download now". No matter when I choose, when I complete the purchase I'm taken to checkout success and receive my order confirmation email, but am never given the option to download the file.

The download link does not appear in my account, isn't in the email I receive, and just doesn't seem to exist beyond my dreams. :blink:

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? How do I get rid of the "Text" radio button option, and how do convince the checkout success page to redirect my customers to the files they've purchased so they can download them?


Finally, while I'm here...how I do set up downloads so they're only available to customers in the USA?

Under Configuration >> Attribute Settings >> Downloads Controller Update Status Value
What orders_status resets the Download days and Max Downloads

Make sure the order is updated to the required order status.

Okay; I've tried that but don't see any change. The "text" radio option is still there, and when I update the order status in admin to the stage 4 that is the default download controller update status, I still don't get a link to download on the shop side. :(

Update:

I removed all the "test" products, ran all the optimization functions on the database and started over. Now, it's working fine. I have no idea where the snarl came from but apparently it's all untangled now.

Thank-you so much for all the help here. I do like this Zen Cart program but am the first to admit that getting it working right can be frustrating.
