Different CSS Flyout problem

I have a couple of little quirks that I don't think are so much a problem with the CSS menu as there is with IE and Firefox.

In Firefox, it works perfectly except there is a blue bar on the right side I need to get rid of. See here: http://www.divaknitting.com/testzenstore/
I looked in the stylesheet for my template and changed this part

and the blue bar on the left went away, but so did the headers in the left side bar (ok, not really went away, but when the color value there is changed to white, the white text doesn't show)

In IE, there is not blue bar. Everything *looks* fine. However, when I hover over a category that has subcategories, the sub category box comes up, but then disappears when you try to move to the right to select it.

Any ideas about how I can fix this to work for both?
