strange layout

I just got some hosting with my ISP and went to transfer zen cart from the free hosting where I had been messing around with the look of the cart.

I folowed the instructions in the FAQ and after I finished the layout of the site was a mess. Just white background, no boxes around side bars etc., and also some errors when trying to access products pages.

I then DL the latest version of Zen Cart and fresh installed and I get the same issues (this is a plain fresh install. No modifications at all)

During installation on this new server I get a warning about the GD library suport for PHP being off. Could this be the issue?

Not sure what else it could be but am guessing its somthing to do with the new server.

The error I am also getting when trying to view products is :
1054 Unknown column 'p.products_id' in 'on clause'

This is on a fresh install. I haven't altered anything.

What are your versions of PHP and MySQL?

I may not be able to find and answer, but that info will help anyway...

When I click on your site link I just get a Cannot Find Server error. If this domain has only been added to the server today then allow it another 24 hrs to propagate on the server.

Not sure about that. Domain has been on this server for a few weeks. I have no trouble accessing it. Anyone else having trouble?

MySQL Version = 5.0.12-beta
PHP Version = 5.1.2

skimmed through that thread (will read it properly later) and if I have to start editing sql I will find a different solution. I dont know sql and think I would just cause more issues for myself.

So has there been any simple fixes for the p.products error?

(if you're not familiar with dig, it just says it can't find anything, and the server who is authoritative is: ns1.ausregistry.net).

On to PHP and MySQL...

I've read in the forum that PHP 5 shouldn't be a major problem, but...I 'd never recommend ANY beta release for a production server, SQL or otherwise.

AFAIK, zencart does not support Mysql 5 (and neither does anyone else). Hate to make this recommendation, but is it possible for you to switch hosts?

I get this when dnsreport.com does a dig "ERROR: The parent servers say that the domain saetek.com.au does not exist".

There seems to be a problem with my domain registry and the name servers I provided them with. Trying to resolve this now.

As for the mysql I may be, 'up the creek', so to say and might have to look at alternative hosting.
I will try everything I can though after I get the name server issue sorted as the hosting is provided by my isp which makes it easy and free.

Free hosting is never easy when it comes to running dynamic php programmes - due to all the limitations free hosts put on the use of php. Paid hosting is so cheap that free hosting is just a waste of time and effort (IMO).
