Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Very nice! Very much like what I was going to try turning Hampshire Cammie into when I got the time, but you've just pretty much done it.
I like your footer area. But having to expand to see the customer service area...I wonder if customers will overlook that? But with the info also in the header drop-down, maybe not a big deal.
Nice job!

Lol ;-) Holiday, what's that? I did debate about making the template with the expandable footer, but in the end decided that there had been enough requests for this functionality that it was worth doing a release ;-) It's the kind of thing that some people will love and some will hate. But the ones who don't like it can use one of the other templates ;-)
Thanks,
Anne

Nice job!
Thank you ;-) All of the footer links are replicated in other parts of the template like the header menu or can be turned on in the sideboxes so I didn't think there was a great danger to have them as expandable.
Thanks,
Anne

If you want to use a language other than english, you will need to copy the files in the english directory to your new language.
Thanks,
Anne

Thank you for your answer,
You mean I can install the theme yorkshire and copy files to the Spanish and translated stay.
"I have already installed the basic Zen Cart with translation into Spanish".

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Hi Anne,
We normally leave "display parse time" (which appears in the footer) turned on. Is there a magic switch to enable it in the Yorkshire Clean template?

You don't have to do anything. I just turned it on in the demo here:
http://www.picaflor-azul.com/free-de...orkshire_clean
It is showing above the footer banner.
Thanks,
Anne
-
Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Normally, we don't use footer banners. If I turn a banner on, the parse time data is there. With no banner, the data is in the page source but not displayed.
Don't loose sleep over the issue. I'm not.

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Work-around = create a new banner.
name it . (that's a single period)
create an image 1px by 1 px and use that image in the banner

Hi Anne,
I LOVE Yorkshire Clean and you did a fantastic job on this. Thank you!
I am having an issue with the sticky footer. It is no longer centered and I just can't figure out where to adjust it. Attachment 11227
If you could so kindly take a look at this, I'd appreciate it very much.

I would recommend back tracking a bit and taking a look at any changes you made to the stylesheet_footer.css, stylesheet_toggle.css, tpl_footer.php

Very beautiful template, as all of yours are. ;) I want to remove "Brands" from the mega-header-menu. Piece of cake to do that. How can I get the "Service" link to open with a smaller box? If I remove Brands, then the drop-down extends beyond website borders. Sorry if I missed it somewhere but don't see the fix on stylesheet_mega_menu.css. Please point me in the right direction.

Yes, you will need to make your changes to the stylesheet_mega_menu.css file. If you post a link to your site I can point you in the right direction.

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Thanks for your reply Anne. I can't seem to figure it out even after I took a look at it. It is clearly something I "messed with," but is there a way to disable the floating menu in the mean time while I try to troubleshoot?
Thanks again!

Thank you Anne,
Site is just in the beginning stages. I removed the display:none; rule for the Brand but plan on adding it after I get this box size figured out.

You can add a display:none; to it in the css file to hide it.

You need to adjust the width on the class .mega-menu .dropdown_aboutus in the stylesheet_mega_menu.css file.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Thank you. Some sort of brain freeze. lol Had to edit two lines to have the text fit in the box.
.mega-menu .dropdown_customer_service {width: 550px;}
.mega-menu .col_cs {width:550px;}
I seem to remember a new window link in the footer to http://www.picaflor-azul.com. I think it has been pushed off with my copyright info. I plan on fixing that so your link displays.

Kind of an odd question (as far as reasoning). Can I make a banner (slider) link open in a new window?

Yes, you just need to edit the includes/templates/yorkshire_clean/common/tpl_home_slider.php file.
Thanks,
Anne

Yeah, know the file. What command works. Target attributes are deprecated. rel-external with external.js? Or _new. However doesn't matter. This site has a landing page and I placed the slider there. Didn't want any in the store. Stripped out the tpl_home_slider.php java and extra images and made it a header. So no issues here. Thanks

Just add target="_blank" to the anchor tag.

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Hello all....I just tried to install the Yorkshire Clean template and all is well....EXCEPT...that the New/Featured/Specials navigation bar in the center of the template isn't working at all. In fact, it is just black for some reason. If you go to www.ski-hats.com, you will see what I mean....any assistance helping me with this would be greatly appreciated....this template appears to be a keeper.
-
Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
OK...never mind...I am an idiot....I totally read past the instructions on how to do that.....is there a way to default so that the Featured items show automatically without having to click on that first? I still think there is something amuck with the template installation that I did...because I don't see products in the Feature/New/Special section unless I click on the link...but the demo template has the product displayed. Advice?

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Thanks Anne,
It is all going well...but I have a quick question about the template:
If you go to the main page of ski-hats.com, you will see that the left and right navigation columns are true 150px.
If you go to the products page, you will see that the left and right navigation columns are true 150px.
BUT....if you select Shop > Child Hats, you will see that the columns are expanded a bit more (probably the 185px) that I defined in the Configuration > Layout Settings section.
I am wanting the columns to be a bit more wide....similar to Shop > Child Hats section....any idea why the layout is not consistent? No mods to your template have been made....
Thanks!
Christopher
-
Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Actually...it looks fine in IE and Firefox...the formatting issue is more with Chrome than anything else....
One other question...if I wanted to custom edit the index page of this template...which file would I go after? That is probably more a zencart question than specifically a Yorkshire question...
-
Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
More specific to the "one other question" comment above...I want to put HTML right below the feature/special/new table in the center column. Any advice Anne on how to do that?
Thanks - Chris

Set your right and left hand column widths in admin--configuration--layout settings.

Hello,
May i ask how you removed the "brands" from the header menu? I've added the following line in the stylesheet "stylesheet_mega_menu.css":
.manufacturers-li{display:none;}
as explained in the readme with this template. Unfortenately the header keeps showing "brands" even after clearing the browser history in ie and ff.
I've tried all the other options, but without any luck. The template css location is \includes\templates\yorkshire_clean\css
some screenshots attached.

nevemind my reply, after enabling ssl in the configure files it suddenly works. I've really no idea why and what happened but the "brands" (and in this test all the other options) are disabled.

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Hi, I have been having a display problem which I think I have sorted out regarding Chrome, Safari and Flock and the positioning of the navMain section. Initially the problem looked like the Mega Menu options had dropped below the Mega Menu banner and I thought I'd messed up the dimensions of the logo or the main image. Then I noticed the 'Home, Log In, Sales Basket and Checkout' didn't appear to be visible and I realised that it was this section that was pushing the mega menu down.
Took a bit of working out but tracked the problem down to the tpl_header.php held in the templates/yorkshire_clean/common folder. Although all the <div id and <div class 's all had a related </div>, the one for <div id="logoWrapper"> was placed after the div for header-right which meant the header-right and navMain were all being included within the logoWrapper. As far as I could see from checking the standard tpl_header.php the logo and navMain should be separate.
Solution seemed to be to move the </div> from line 116 to be in front of the start of header-right - line 78. Once this was done, all browsers were happy again.
Would appreciate it if my solution could be checked. I appreciate I may have done changes outside this module that might have had a knock on effect, those have been css and image changes. This certainly worked for me.

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Hello. I am trying to remove the social networking images and links....I have followed the instructions:
In your favorite plain text editor open includes/templates/yorkshire_clean/css/stysheet_footer_menu.css
At the bottom of the file add display:none; to the class for each icon you don't want to display. So, for example if you don't want to display the facebook icon you would add:
.facebook{display:none;}
The classes used for the icons are:
.facebook
.twitter
.youtube
.pinterest
.google
.blog
THE PROBLEM IS....I only see Facebook as an option in stysheet_footer_menu.css
....I don't see the other social networking in the file.
I only have this in my social media area of that file:
#social-media a{color:#fffffc;}
.smi{vertical-align:middle;margin-right:5px;height:20px;width:20px;margin-top:0px;}
.facebook{display:none;}
.blog{margin-right:50px;}

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Actually, I am having trouble finding a way to remove the social media from the header AND the footer. For example, the instructions say to "Hide any of the Dropdowns' go to includes/templates/yorkshire_clean/css/stylesheet_mega_menu.css
I should see these classes:
.quicklinks-li
.categories-li
.manufacturers-li
.aboutus-li
.information-li
.contactus-li
.customerservice-li
BUT...when I open that file, none of the classes described are in that file?

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Also Anne,
Two additional questions if you have the time (by the way, I appreciate your responses!):
Do you know of a way to say that the main page has the left, center, and right column, but any other page has just the left and center columns?
On a similar note, if you go to www.ski-hats.com and look at the main page, you will see that the columns are much narrower than if you go to any of the subordinate pages (which are wider). I prefer the wider columns, but can't figure out how to define that for the main index.php page. Do you have any advice? I know the first thing you will say is to get rid of the custom pictures....which, even when they are removed, the columns are still very narrow for some reason...
Any help here would be really appreicated!!

I figured this one out....I am placing the custom code in includes/languages/english/yorkshire_clean/index.php
But when I extend the introduction text out to a paragraph like I do....the columns get smaller...too weihd....not sure about the solution yet. Is there a better place to add content in that center (main) column than the index.php file? I am putting that paragraph in the TEXT_GREETING_TEXT variable.

You will not see those classes. You need to add those classes that you want to hide plus the display:none if you want to hide them.

If you search in the FAQ's section you will find instructions on how to disable right or left columns on certain pages.
If you follow the admin--configuration--layout settings values in the readme.html file you will see how to set these.

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
hi!
I would like to know how and where can I change the text size for the product listing?
Thanks.

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Also, I would like to know if my products can be sorted by price range (similar to categorization by new, featured, etc...)?

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Hi
I am really impressed with this template however i do have a Question. I noticed today that if I Click on the links that appear in the "Whats new Box on th eleft hand side It sends my site url into error mode with White Screen. It only happens in that box and it doesn.t matter which 3 items are showing as new I get this on every link.
And thank You for the email Anne. Nice to know that people who create the Templates actually inter-mingle with their users. Very nice touch

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Hi Anne The website is https://www.rayandlola.com As I say it is in the left hand side-boxes "what's new [more]" I have tried multiple browsers all with the same effect. I would be happy just turning off the box if that would stop the error but i don't see that box in the layout settings. Each of the 3 links visible in that box give this respone each time the item is clicked. WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again. And refreshing doesn't bring it back.

This is not a template problem. You need to check your /cache or /logs folder for error messages and correct the issues.

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Hi Anne,
If I wanted to change the background to this template (in particular, the sides that aren't being used), how would I go about doing that?
Also, I am wanting to change "Connect" in the top banner to something else, with a link someplace else. Is there a way to do that?
Thanks,
Chris

You can change the template background in the stylesheet.css file.
If you want to add to the mega menu you can edit includes/templates/yorkshire_clean/common/tpl_mega_menu.php

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Anne,
Also - I you look at the left navigation bar in IE here:
http://www.ski-hats.com/
It looks good.
BUT, if you look at the left navigation bar in IE here:
http://www.ski-hats.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=184
You will notice that the left navigation gets squished....
Any idea why this would be occurring?
Is this a template issue?
Thanks,
Chris

I've tried all the other options, but without any luck. The template css location is \includes\templates\yorkshire_clean\css

So sorry for my delay as I haven't been around. I am no where near the code specialist as picaflor. Not even close. But I used the below on the stylesheet_mega_menu.css. Some nice products and a wealth of knowledge at picaflor.
.manufacturers-li{display:none;}

Thank you so much for such an awesome template!
I seem to have done something wrong. My footer is not all the way across at the bottom of the page. :( I don't know what I would have changed. Could you take a peek and help me? http://mjsewingsupply.com/store/
Thanks so much!

I would recommend comparing the stylesheet_toggle.css file on your site with the one in the template package. Let me know if you still have trouble finding the difference ;-)

Thanks for assisting me Anne! I did look the files over and never saw a difference. I went so far as to replace all the CSS files in includes>templates>yorkshire_clean>css
It is still not all the way across on the bottom left. Do you have another suggestion I could try? I'd appreciate any help!
While I have you I have another question. If I wanted to a make my slide show smaller and move up the columns on the left and right to take up the white space how do I achieve that? Lastly, is there a way to make the line "Home | Log In | 0 item(s) - $0.00 | Checkout" drop so it's closer to that top link bar? Again I don't know where to eliminate the extra space. I appreciate all the assistance and AWESOME template!
Thanks!

You can use css to make all of these changes. If you want to have the slide show between the left and right hand column, I would take a look at one of our othe free templates with this layout as an example, like Piccadilly Posh. You will need to remove the call for the slide show and then add it to the define_main_page.php.
If you are going to make css changes I would strongly recommend using firefox and using the web developer tools and firebug to help you find which line of which stylesheet to edit.
To fix the footer, in your stylesheet_toggle.css file change:

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Thanks Anne! That solved my footer problem. I am just doing some minor adjustments now. Could you tell me how do I make the text larger everywhere? I tried to edit the css stylesheet without any luck. I must be missing where to edit it. I edited this line...
Body{margin: 0;font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 250%;color: #444;background: #fff;}
However it did not work. If you would be so kind to help me I'd greatly appreciate it!
Thanks!

If you need to make more css edits, I recommend using firefox and its web developer tools, particularly firebug which will help you to find the line numbers and files that need editing.
Thanks,

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
hello,
I'm not sure what I have done wrong but on a completely new install I have tried to install this template and for some reason I've managed to muck up the menu along the top and have the main body of the page as full width. Any help appreciated, I'm pretty new to CSS and PHP but am enjoying playing about.
http://www.argonline.co.uk/catalog/i...ain_page=index is the site.
I'm quite familiar with Zen cart as have used it for several years but it was set up for me previously.

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
For further information I have checked with chrome and my iphone, they display correctly so it seems to be something to do with explorer.

The menu looks fine in firefox. Which version of ie are you using?

The template hasn't been cross browser tested for ie10 since ie10 has come out after the last template update ;-) You will have to cross browser test for ie10 or wait until I submit an updated package with ie10 added.
Thanks,
Anne

Edit the tpl_homepage_hover_effects_1.php (or whichever style number you are using.)

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
On the actual products page how to I remove the plugins at the bottom: Facebook "Like" "Tweet" "Pin it" & "Share"?
I just want them all gone completely?
Also I can't seem to be able to make the "Product was added on date" disappear either? I've tried every display: none & I can't seem to find the one that affects ONLY that.
Thanks.

It's an admin setting..
Catalog > Product Types
Choose the product type you want and edit the "Layout Settings".. The date added setting is there.. Simply turn it off..

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Ok great I was able to find the show added date & turn it off, thank you.
What about the other 4 plugins at the bottom, where are those shut off buttons? What are the plugins called, any idea?

Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Also, say I wanted to add a pdf file below the description for people to click on & open it up, how would I go about doing that, any idea?

Did you look through the VERY thorough readme file that Anne includes in ALL of her templates?? She really provides VERY GOOD instructions for modifying the templates she creates.. MANY of the questions you have been asking are covered in her readme file..

This question isn't really related to this template.. It's more of a Zen Cart general question.. You might want to create a seperate thread to ask it, and you might want to provide more details than you have.. Starting with what "description" are you speaking of when you say "below the description".
-
Re: Yorkshire Clean Template Support Thread
Yes I read & searched through it & couldn't find any where that said how to turn off those 4 plugins...

4 plugins at the bottom of what?? you need to be specific so folks don't have to guess what it is you are asking..
