Tabbed Products Pro (TPP) Contrib - Official Thread

Hi,

Am in a little pickle.

I have two image files requirement.gif & description.gif. I want to change the tab images from their originals to these two gif files. How do I go about this, as I've tried to change them and all it has done is place one image on a tab and chops and changes when the other tab is clicked?

I have named the images the same as the tab names that they are ment to be, to save me even more confusion.

All I want to do is to have my two images in place of the originals? Shouldn't be this hard should it?!

You should be able to play with a few things in /templates/tpl_product_info_display.php and the CSS file ("cartAdd" element).

Thanks Bob...have to play some more...but wasn't getting it to do what i wanted with CSS....

Anyone have this working with jqzoom either....it does not seem to work.....just wondering if anyone knows a fix to have them both work together.....cannot seem to find what will cause them to not play nice together....

Usual cause of mods not working well together is that both mods have files in common than need to be merged using a tool like Winmerge or Beyond Compare.

Thanks...I do understand that...and have already tried merging files....but nothing is working so I am missing something....was hoping someone would know so I do not have to spend hours more trying to find that one piece!

If I put the main image on a tab, then the jqzoom works?!? If I remove it it does not.....I am lost on this one?!?!? Anyone have any ideas?

I have installed all of the files in the Read Me:

/includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/*.css (Multiple files)
/includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/images/*.gif (Multiple files)
/includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/jscript/jscript_tpp.js
/includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php

and the database TabbedProductsPro.sql.

None of the products have tabs, however. I have the sample at http://kremerpublications.com/index....&products_id=3.

Any ideas?

Did you configure TPP in admin?

Admin > Configuration > TPP

If so, then something was missed or corrupted when you uploaded the files, you might have to re-upload.

I didn't make any changes in that area. Is there anything specific that must be adjusted from the install?

In the css folder, just to confirm, there is a tpp.css file and a tpp folder?

I need some help pls...i install tabbed products pro and it looks ok in ff but for ie6-8 or chrome somethings wrong. Can any1 help me with what might have cause this:

Are all of the files in the /includes directory supposed to be uploaded? In addition, is the cj_loader_install required for this also? The instructions in the doc/readme_tabbed don't make mention of it.

If you haven't installed all of the files included in the module package, then that might be why it's not working for you..

No, that is not it. I installed every file there was...to include the /min directory and cj_loader_install.sql which are not made any mention of in the read me, but it still does not show any tabs on any products. I even installed on a totally different zencart site.

What are your settings under:
Admin > Configuration > TPP

Everything is set to 1 and the bottom two are product_info and all_tpp_tabs1.css.

It is very strange because in the Page Source I can see all of the tabs and scripting, but it doesn't appear on the browser.

If your host is still running pHP4, then you will not be able to use the latest version of TPP.. Try uninstalling TPP and installing v1.05..

I actually have PHP 5.2.11 on the server.

I still recommend installing v1.05. Folks who've had issues getting 1.06 to install seem to have no issues installing v1.05. Honestly without seeing your store we are all kinda guessing what might be happening. I had all kinds of issues with versions 1.06 - 1.06b, but v 1.06c installed perfectly..

Here's the deal, the ONLY thing you gain from the 1.06 flavors of TPP is the cj_loader app and the ability to create tabs from WordPress posts. These aren't showstoppers IMO.. Roll back to v1.05 and see if you don't have better results..

Wow, that did it! I also noticed that version 1.6 does not have any stylesheet_tpp.css file.

I have a site that uses Paul Hailey's BOOK PRODUCT TYPE. This is an extensive and comprehensive add-on that will turn your zenshop into a proper bookshop.

We have a big problem..

We installed the mod.

but for some reason " add to cart " button is not showing on Product_info_dislay page.

we messed around and noticed that it disappears when we have
" do not duplicate" javascript at the bottom of the file.

I'm frustrated with this module. I had the lite version installed a few years ago and remember having lots of issues with getting it to run. The instructions on how to install this version are poor and do not at all match up with the files nor make it clear what to do. For example, there are multiple SQL files and it does not make it clear if you are to run upgrade or a different one. Not good. And the list of which files to install does not match up with the list of files included with the download. There are lots of readme files all over the place. A mysterious bunch of files and folders - do we copy those over? It's a mess!

Anyway, like many people in the history of this thread, I got the whole website blank issue. No one has ever really answered that properly except to say go back and see what you did incorrectly. I went through file by file and deleted each one (they were all right where they ought to have been) and when I got to the tpp file and directory under my template, my website just came back. Not good at all! Something is definitely suspect about this way of coding and giving confusing instructions. I guess I'll give it one more shot to remove and put the files over one at a time (what a freaking pain in the tush) and check after each one.

Respectfully, I get you are frustrated, but screaming (electronically) at a support forum full of VOLUNTEERS is of no benefit to ANYONE.. I believe the issue with the site disappearing could be addressed if you would provide some INFORMATION that the VOLUNTEER community could use to help you figure out the issue.. Here's what would be helpful:

• What version of PHP is running on your webserver??
• What version of TPP are you running??

Exactly who is your request/suggestion/order addressed to??:laugh: This ain't Microsoft.. There is no TEAM of developers taking requests or suggestions here.. Ths is an open source application. This module was written by a VOLUNTEER on their own time.. Please don't take this wrong, but honestly, if you think the readme could be improved, then YOU should VOLUNTEER to submit a new version of this module with an improved readme file. (versus demanding that "someone" do it) I contributed to a module just to improve the readme file because it needed a re-write. No reason why if you feel this is important, that you can't do this too..

That said, provide the information requested, and the community might be able to help..

You are correct in calling me out. I do apologize for being grumpy about it all. It's been a bear of an upgrade (as always, and I've abandoned it many a time) and for whatever reason, pretty much every previously installed optional feature has broken my entire website. Just frustrating.

I could not possibly fix the documentation because I never got the darned thing working. In this long thread, lots of people ask questions on which files go where and the replies are snippy and not specific so after reading through 20 pages, I was feeling not just my own frustration, but that of all the others who were not given answers. I realize it's mostly volunteers. I wish I could help others but I don't have any kind of grasp of anything, just enough to be dangerous. I've just wasted an entire day not getting anything moved forward. :cry:

Sorry to bust your chops, but ya sorta left yourself open... I also don't make suggestions for any general "someone" to make changes.. This is a volunteer community, WE are the "someone's" who manage the changes...

I don't remember too many snippy posts in THIS support thread.. I believe I got ONE (the deliverer will not be outed by me:laugh:), but I moved on, and I even posted the solution to the issue I was asking about (which I found ON MY OWN).. Bottom line?? I did not see the MSRP pricing or Tabbed Products Pro on your site. How do you show price discounts?

I really like this mod, but I do not know how to get it working with Book product. It does not look very good when some products have Tabs and some without.

I agreed with jeskremer. Version 1.6c does not have stylesheet_tpp.css. I have extract both 1.6c and 1.5. I can find (search) stylesheet_tpp.css on 1.5 but NOT 1.6c

So in summary this is what I see under includes\templates\YOUR_TEMPLATE\css
tpp.css (1.6c)
stylesheet_tpp.css (1.5)

One common issue seems to be that those who's servers are not running PHP5 will experience issues. If your server is running PHP5 and you still have issues, I suggest rolling back to v1.05.. Most folks who have issue with v1.06c seem to have no issues with v1.05..

Lastly Template Monster templates frequently hack cor Zen Cart code.. (as they seem to be aiming for style over substance with their templates) As a result they may not integrate easily with Zen Cart modules.. (especially those which modify the look and feel of one's store) I'm afraid you may not find much help with issues that are related to TM hacked code..

"TPP - Global Customers Also Purchased Tab", is this "Customers Also Purchased" module is installed with this TPP v1.05 installed? I mean I can not find any "Customers Also Purchased" Module in the 'Free Software Addon' http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...index&cPath=40

Then AddCart will shows up. Now I get One tab for AddToCart Tab and add to cart in the production description. (I just need one)

I believe I am looking for the answer mentioned in this past post #428, but unfortunately the link is broken. Is there a current link to accessing how to move custom tabs to the end of the other tabs.

I am running 1.3.8 and have installed tabs version 1.05. I currently have global tabs on and have created some custom tabs that are unique to specific products.

Essentially I would like to have the attributes tab in first position and the custom tabs at the end. I've attempted to move the code within /modules/tabbed_products_pro.php both in the calculation and content sections, but am not doing this correctly as the tab position doesn't change.
Is there a way to rearrange the tab order?

Could someone help me with #1041 and #1042? Why is my "Add to Cart" show up only when I able Global Add-To-Cart Tab. Now Add to cart will shows at the buttom of the description and as well as a Add-To-Cart Tab. I do not want another Add-To-Cart Tab.
Also, How do I have my Add-To-Cart appears on the top next to image? What about appears to every Tab along with main photo? (mine is not showing up every tab)

I'm having a slight problem with tabbed products pro.
I have my global reviews tab set to 1 and the reviews tab appears as it should, everything works great so far.
The problem is I still have a 'Write A Review' button on the main page that I wat to get rid of.
Strangely, the button stays as 'Write a Review' even though there is a review already written.
Looking at the code, this should change to 'Read Reviews'?

If someone can take a look at my site and let me know how I can hide the 'productReviewLink' div I'd be really grateful.
I've tried hacking some php and javascript files that came with the mod but I can only do basic php and javascript; Tabbed Products Pro is definitely beyond me :blush:

Damian, my guess is that you have an extra bit of (or duplicated bit of) code.

1. OPEN \includes\templates\YOURTEMPLATE\templates\tpl_product_info_display.php, IIRC
2. FIND the TPP code you inserted
3. Then SEARCH below for [FONT="Courier New"]BUTTON_IMAGE_WRITE_REVIEW[/FONT]
4. DELETE it and all surrounding code causing the "write a review" button to appear again

I tried what you suggested and it did remove the duplicate button but now if I disable javascript, there is no Write a Review button at all.

I'd like to leave the code there so it degrates properly for browsers without javascript.

Is there any way I can make Tabbed Products just hide the button

FYI - This is why I always read through the entire support thread for any modules I use.. (always recommend to others that they do the same) You get to see where all the bodies are buried so to speak..:smile:

This is an old issue that the original mod author didn't see as an issue. Personally I thought the resolution should have at LEAST been included in the install instructions.. The two "Write a Review" buttons looks silly IMHO..

You're right, Diva. I've been meaning to do it for two years! But with eight mods I track, I've got over 1500 pages of posts to read. The Search feature should be able to suffice but it is definitely lacking power.

Forums have always been limited by their inefficiencies. One of these days somebody will develop forum-wikiware that allows mods to more easily "clean up" topics and separating wheat from chaffe without losing the chaffe so to speak.

This is a HUGE limitation of TPP that needs to be addressed. Javascript has been on my list too long, but it got moved up in priority when I installed TPP this past summer/fall. Should be getting to it come spring/summer. I'll get in touch with the mod dev if I make it so far to having a solution.

If you want just the Reviews button to appear, it shouldn't be too hard at all if you look at some of the lightbox image mods and convert the code for use in TPP.

Which mod dev?? The original author walked away when version 1.06x of TPP came into being.. (He kinda said as much too in the support thread) The last author has posted in one of his mods that he is on a sort of hiatus from supporting any mods he has written, and I'm not sure he's ever taken on actually supporting this particular module anyway..

These instructions are for TPP 1.05 since TPP 1.06 kept crashing the site and/or conflicting with other hacks/mods. I imagine 1.06 does not differ much if at all for simple, custom content.

1. OPEN includes\modules\tabbed_products_pro.php
2. FIND [FONT="Courier New"]$fmtDOT = '<div style="width:100%;">' . "\n";[/FONT]
3. EDIT*

*For each line of code you want to add, simply insert a new line containing [FONT="Courier New"]$fmtDOT .= '';[/FONT] (after/before the other appropriate fmtDOT lines of code) and put your new HTML content between the single quotes. Hate to break you this bad news, but the issues you are having have very little to do with this module and a LOT to do with your template..

I know that there are a LOT of providers of Zen Cart templates, but many of them hack the core Zen code so that modules don't install they way they should and sometimes they wreak havoc with default Zen Cart functions.. I always recommend that folks always to start with one of the "endorsed" templates that are supported here on this forum..

Even better??? Create your own template from scratch. I know most folks like templates because they "think" it saves them time..(Instant pretty look and feel) But the tradeoff is a boatload of issues that cause issues.. I have seen more posts related to template issues than I care to shake a stick at.. IMO most of the time unless it's a properly constructed template, most folks spend more time trying to get their template to work than they would have if they had constructed the template from scratch themselves..

All the templates out there (yes including the dreaded Template Monster templates) can EASILY be re-created following Zen standards without all of the hacks and junk many of these plug-n-play templates offer..

I'm pretty sure this is not what you want to hear or you will decide that I am full of it.. (earlier today another user told me that my advice was BS..:laugh:), but I promise you that the underlying structure of your template is at the heart of the issues you are having getting this module to integrate cleanly.. You can easily prove or disprove my advice by installing this mod to work with the classic template and switching to the classic template..

If yes, then I too probably had your problem along with several others when testing TPP and in the end -- because I found TPP's requirement of using its tags in the product description rather cumbersome -- I overhauled the mod, making it truly, 100% dynamic.

Rather than having "Tabs [that] are created dynamically from the use of tags in the product description", my tabs are created dynamically without relying upon any user input whatsoever. Meaning, staff did not need to learn and use TPP's tags system when adding/editing product descriptions. The staff continues to behave as if the mod was never installed.

The issue unfortunately is this is a Template Monster template, and these templates are ALWAYS a hacked mess.. (sorry.. had to say it)

These templates LOOK good, and are usually constructed using hacked code which does NOT follow Zen standards AT ALL. I suspect that digilu's main product page is constructed in some non standard way to accommodate the design that the Template Monster hacks were trying to achieve. Try merging this modules code with a hacked product page, and you get he issues he is having..

I am 100% positive, that he would not be having ANY of these issues if he were to try testing this mod on the Classic template..

It is hard for any of us to really help because your TM template is NOT constructed using standard Zen Code, rather it is the Zen Cart code hacked up by Template Monster.

Unfortunately your Template Monster template will likely not have a QUICK fix. They (Template Monster) tend to use their own style classes and IDs, divs nested to hell, and other un-orthodox crap.. The RIGHT way to fix your problem IMO is to ditch the product page that came with the template, and rebuild it by starting with the default product page and properly applying the look and feel using Zen Cart standards versus hacking the code into submission like Template Monster does..

I know that's not what you want to hear, and based on your posts you are clearly looking for a different answer (quick fix).. I wish you luck, but IMO the time you are spending on trying to fix this hacked code could be better spent re-building this page the right way and be done with it..

Like I said, people use templates because they THINK it's an INSTANT design solution.. and they can be if the template is properly constructed.. However, NONE of the Template Monster templates are properly constructed.. Truthfully, Template Monster promised you a working Zen Cart template.. THEY should provide the correct product page code to work with TPP..

Custom templates cut out a lot and often make it harder to learn or troubleshoot. FWIW, how I learned was by starting with an approved template and comparing it with the Zen Cart default files. And then from there whenever I needed something my custom template didn't do, I asked questions here, I played Sherlock Holmes, and I learned eventually what file I needed from the Zen Cart core or default template files. Then I hacked my way to a solution through trial and error and browsing the forum.

Based on digilu's earlier posts, he has the "Add to Cart" button in a tab becasue that's the only way he can get it to work.. THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE TEMPLATE MONSTER code for the tpl_product_info_display.php page.. PERIOD..

While it's nice that you included code from the default tpl_product_info_display.php, it is VERY likely that digilu's Template Monster equivalent has been re-written to accommodate the LOOK of the template (as all Template Monster templates do). This means that his tpl_product_info_display.php will likely NOT resemble the default file in MANY ways. THIS is how Template Monster creates ALL it's templates, and it is the likely root cause of his issues with integrating TPP..

I really am not trying to be a naysayer, but this is the reason why the senior members of the forum will ignore or refuse to assist with issues when there is a Template Monster template involved.. These templates REALLY ARE that bad.. (Search this forum for Template Monster if you do not believe this)

What digilu needs to do is to get his tpl_product_info_display.php back to the default state, apply the changes required for TPP, and THEN apply any style changes needed to make the tpl_product_info_display.php page look like the rest of his Template Monster page.. There are no shortcuts for this.. This is what needs to be done.. Un-hack this page to fix it..

Yes, you are on the right path editing the calculation and content sections. However, first, let's make sure you're in the right areas.

For the calculating section, search for the first (and only) instance of [FONT="Courier New"]//Create a tab for each zen tag[/FONT].

*I had to abandon my usual note taking process because 1) the sheer number of TPP's variables to test could not be covered properly in the time I had, and 2) TPP was the most finicky mod I had run across that I also had to test against many permutations of already installed mods before I got even their basic hacks to work.

I took his advice. I compared Zencart Original tpl_product_info.php and TM tpl_product_info.php. You then add components that is for TPP script to it. Move Add to Cart (what cartguin said) to before TPP then worked.

After recently installing TPP I'm forever getting the 'This web page contains content that will not delivered using a secure HTTPS connection, which could compromise the security of the entire web page.' warning message in IE. I have all images hosted on my server, all with relative paths. However I can't get to the bottom of the issue.

The reason I'm asking on this thread is because this only started appearing after TPP intsall. When I view the page with javascript disabled (for testing purposes) the error message goes away... could their be a definate link within the javascript of this mod somewhere?

Yes Diva that was my first port of call, I change both the entries in english.php refreshed my browser and cleared the browser cache but still no change.

Hello, Let me start by saying, "I am new with ZC". My site, although not live yet, it is getting close. I'm using 1.3.8a/Server is PHP 5.2.5/Ty Package tracker 2.3a/Tax ID field 1.0/zen_bck button creator.

I have created my own template matching the look of my main website and everything has worked wonderfully. I recently installed TPP 1-06c and I immediately lost my template formatting, and my background has defaulted to white. The tabs feature does not work. I have only loaded 3 items to test, and now their pictures won't display when clicking on the item.

I triple checked my installation against the instructions and confirmed the install in the admin/config panel. I installed the cj_loader_install.sql & TabbedProductsPro.sql files. I also compared all file sizes after the installation.

Can anyone please guide me to what I possibly did wrong? To no avail, I tried removing the tpp.css file to see if there was a conflict. Has TPP bypassed my template?

I am very humbled by ZC and having to ask for assistance. I have a lot of respect for those of you who have been at it for any length of time. Thank you in advance.

Well, I uninstalled all the files except the .sql patches (I don't yet know how to do that), and it appears that my site is back on 2 feet. After poking around and testing, I can't yet find any permanent damage, although it's probably waiting until my confidence recovers until it presents itself!

What an ordeal!

One of the culprits may have been the html_header.php. Before I did a complete uninstall, I removed that file and got back about 75% of the site. Evidently, I didn't get the winmerge/beyond compare "memo" until it was too late! Lesson learned.

Could it have been a css issue? a java issue? I have no clue what happened or why it didn't work. Any help, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You've already answered your own question.. You should NEVER install ANY module without comparing the module files to your current site files and merging any changes BEFORE you upload the module..

Answer: No the issue is unlikely to be a Java or CSS issue. It is MORE likely that you need to make sure that you merge the modules files with your own site files so that the module changes are integrated with your site code. Try THIS and see if you continue to have errors.

Thank you for the reply. My response was based on hours of frustration and was not necessarily 100% targeted at you. After reading maybe 200+ posts in varies threads, I've noticed a fair amount of unwarranted "sniping" and condescension on behalf of some of the ZC "elite". If someone doesn't make sufficient efforts to solve their problem, then i understand. I am way past my deadline for my shopping cart and just need some answers.

In all seriousness, I spent no less than 4 hours digging through folders, files, code, and this site trying to figure my issue out.

ZC should come with a warning label that reads, "Not For Beginners".

Does anyone have an opinion on which code comparing software to use?

It is indeed a steep learning curve, and initially the layout of the folder and how everything is linked made no sense to me... but it all starts to come together slowly. Using the "Developer's Toolkit" in
Admin -> Tools -> Developers Tool Kit
is instrumental in learning how ZenCart works, IMHO.

there is also an 'add to cart' tab.

the problem is that, while the attribute drop-down menus are showing up on each of the custom tabs i've created above, they are not functional. when you choose size ABC and flavor XYZ and press add to cart on the 'about' tab, the product that's added to your cart has only the default attributes.

the attributes on the 'add to cart' tab work fine.

i wish i could show you in action, but i'm going to have to spend 3 hours undoing all the work i did last night, so that my customers can choose product attributes tomorrow. but i'd really love my site to work in this way so i'd love some troubleshooting if anyone has any ideas.

just an addendum: the quantity boxes on the custom tab aren't working either. i choose 2, add to cart, there is 1 in the cart. curious!
