Though that may fix the stock mod - there is no question that parts of it are not correct for 1.3.9h. I'm simply not able to fix the whole thing myself right now but there are problems there so beware.

hello delia
i am currently looking at this mod (latest stock by attributes), could you please send me the details of the parts which are not correct for 1.3.9h so that i can analyze them and hopefully fix them.
If I was that sure about it, I would have fixed it myself. There's some tiny things I noticed but there could be more.
I have a question about this mod that i hope can help me wrap my head around things...I have a client who has over 2,000 products more than half have attributes that require stock values....so I was hoping to find a way to upload via CSV, but I am seeing that this is an issue due to the way the attributes are written to the database.
If there is only one attribute for an item, I believe it can be done...but multiple items become comma separated results in the stock_attributes field and I do not believe there is a way to accomodate for this in the CSV file...
Is there a reason it was done this way as opposed as to the code creating a separate line item in the table for each product/attribute value?
How hard would that be to do or is it even possible....
Thanks for any thoughts.....
That is the biggest problem with this mod. But changing it would be a monumental task. Someone needs to completely rewrite this mod.
What I found out was that with a large database, this mod is so inefficient that it's almost not usable in admin. I don't see that it slows down the catalog side that much but editing the stock is very problematic.
I tried to find an alternate solution - and once again turned to Apsona and their free store manager. You can import and export at will with that but he said:
"I'm not sure it will work the way you intend. As far as I know, they're storing the key ID numbers in comma-separated format within the varchar field. This is very non-standard, and is the main reason why ShopAdmin does not support that add-on - it would take a good bit of work to interpret that comma-separated string and integrate it into our UI."
In other words, it would be very pricy to get it done.
I am working with Apsona myself on this right now...and I get the complication.....now I see the issue is a big one for many people.....this is a nightmare for clients with multiple attributes.....and I hate spending money to have someone come up with a solution when we have no insight into when the new Zen version will be released.....
ugh........ what to do what to do......may be time to move on to another cart soon I think.....
Have you got so many products that you have to do an import? That save button is supposed to allow you to make the entries and save all at once. I couldn't get it to work myself but a fix for that would be cheaper.
The site is set to launch next week....she has over 1200 products with attributes that have stock....do not want to do those by hand....most clients are fine - this is an extreme case but we do not want to do it by hand....and she may have multiple updates in the future which of course we were hoping ot give her the upload option for....I have a call today with Apsona...we may be able to do something only because she only has 1 attribute per item.....
I think the problem is when there is more than one option....
I have not tried the save feature yet for multiple attributes in the admin...have to check that out to see if it works.....we tweaked the mod quite a bit though so it may be a bit different...
I am going to talk to a developer though about working on a better mod for this though...if we can find the time this may be a project we will undertake.....

We finally had it fix for us a few weeks ago
The main thing to resolve this was to make the first page come up into a list if our categories, instead of the full list of every item in our data base.
I know nothing about PHP coding, so I can’t tell you more than that.
This is the guy we paid to fix this. He was wonderful to work with
