Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
ok I have a question, I have like 19,000 products, now, when i create the file in my zen cart, tools>google base feeder>Create Product Feed:
How am i to break that file up so google can grab it?
How many products can I upload to google, and what should I call the file name? for example, the google base feeder autimatically calls it froogle_products.xml
To my understandings, I should also call it froogle_pructs.xml in my account with google. When I create the file in google, should I leave the xml extension on the end when im writing it, or should I just choose that option in the settings in google when i create the file?
Thanks in advance, I have been trying to tackle this now for 2 months with 0 products uploaded..

You should register the filename that is outputted by the script. Which will be "whatevernameyoudefined_products.xml"
2 months? You could have profitted many times the amount of our installation cost by now...

What do you mean all of the SQL updates? If it is a new site, you shouldn't be upgrading. Run the uninstall and then only patch with the file mentioned in the documentation...

Are you confusing the word "ERROR" with "WARNING"? Google never ended up making the UPC and ISBN attributes required. You'll get a warning that these attributes are recommended, but this won't stop the product from being processed.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
I have tried the uninstall and then just upload the googlefroogle.sql, but still get the same error. I can get the file to execute if I remove all the lines that are duplicated in the update files, but then I have no fields showing in the Froogle configuration page in admin.
Is there any way of removing the updates?
Thanks

Most likely they weren't associated with a configuration_group_id which was a typo in one of the older versions. You'll have to manually remove the rows from the db using PHPMYADMIN.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
I've been using this for months and all the sudden it will only take 287 of 2500+ items.
I haven't changed anything. Did Google make changes ot the file format they'll accept?
Here are my errors:
Code:
Error Bad data Line #
We recommend including this attribute.
weight
We recommend including this attribute.
upc
We recommend including this attribute.
isbn
This expiration date is too far in the future.
expiration date:2009-11-25
I have NO IDEA where it is getting that expiration date. I've searched my entire database and my entire site and that date is NOWHERE to be found. I also get a "There is a problem with the character encoding of this attribute" for my product description. Again, nothing changed so I am baffled.
-
Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Can you point me to the rows that need deleting please? I had a quick look at the configuration table there didn't seem to be anything relating to the froogle feed there.
Thanks

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Hi,
I'm having a problem with installing Google Base feeder and I don't know why, because I installed it last week in a store, same ZC version 1.3.8a (that I am installing it in today) and last week the install went perfectly, but now when I run the SQL patch while installing it in a different store, for some reason when I go to Admin>Configuration, the Google base configuration link is not showing up at the bottom of the list, even though the Google base feeder link is showing up in the tools menu.
So anyway, I re ran the install MySQL patch and now I am getting the below error:
Code:
1062 Duplicate entry 'GOOGLE_BASE_DEFAULT_QUANTITY' for key 2
in:
[INSERT INTO configuration (configuration_id, configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, date_added, use_function, set_function) VALUES (NULL, 'Default Quantity', 'GOOGLE_BASE_DEFAULT_QUANTITY', '0', 'What is the default quantity for products with zero quantity?', @configuration_group_id, 7, NOW(), NULL, NULL), (NULL, 'Payment Notes', 'GOOGLE_BASE_PAYMENT_NOTES', 'GoogleCheckout', 'Add payment notes (use this for showing you accept Google Checkout)', @configuration_group_id, 35, NOW(), NULL, NULL);]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
Any insights or ideas on how I could troubleshoot this problem appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Just to add here with this above problem I'm having, I checked the configuration table, and there are only two entries in it for the base feed – Configuration ID’s 567 and 568; Default Quantity and Payment notes. And these two rows are assigned a configuration_group_id of 0.
The configuration table for the functional site with the google base feed installed however, shows rows 567 to 604 filled with correct configuration_group_id of 31. So for some reason this table did not get filled on install.
I’ve edited table data for a long time using my trusty Navicat MySQL GUI, but only for products and pricing, I have never done it for the configuration tables.
Would a fix to this install problem be to just copy the data from the table of the functioning site, and paste it to the non working site/table?? Or would that cause more problems that it’s worth?

Just remove the rows for this module that are showing a configuration_group_id = 0 and any of the rows that were installed properly and then re-run the SQL installation file from the latest version.

You'll have to upload it manually. But, if it works sometimes, why not just set a nightly cron and every few days that it works it shoud update unless your products change titles, descriptions, and prices on a daily basis...

It would be great if these 3 different feeds could be created and uploaded at once.

I've heard nothing about different feeds for target countries yet and believe this isn't possible with the latest version of this contribution.
It would be a great addition and I think many people (especially those who trade worldwide) would benefit form it.

Maybe you are missing some attributes for the items? Google will not add items unless they have a description. So if you have a bunch of items without a description they will not be processed.

Hi Wagnerguy
I take it that you created and then uploaded your feeds and that you have a google base account.
Have you checked the xml file that you have created. This by default will be in a folder called feed (in the root of your shop installation)- you will have assigned a name for it in your config>google base feeder config pages.
It seems to fall over if you use nice/ friendly urls, so try with these turned off.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
I have Google Base Feeder installed and was having issues with Tools>Google Base Feeder. All files were showing blank.
I since then have turned off my Simple SEO URL module and now the Google base feeder is creating feeds and seems to be working.
I am having one major issue now and that is none of my 460 or so products are populating the feed. Do you know how I can resolve this issue?
I have re-installed and upgraded the sql database until I am blue in the face.

Followup: I suspect I am having problems with my database. I had this module installed before I upgraded to the latest zen version. I have tried many database repairs but still not working. So I went into my php admin of my hosting control panel and did not see one field that had: GOOGLE_FROOGLE or GOOGLE_BASE. I am trying to manually delete these in php my admin and then re-install the current sql patch in my control panel. Anyone know how I can find these in phpmyadmin to delete?

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Most likely products priced by attributes or with descriptions less than 15 characters. This is to save time by excluding products that would be rejected by Google Base anyways. This was already discussed in the Numinix forum which has a much shorter thread and is cleaned regularily for any defunct information that no longer applies to the latest version (which is a few versions more recent than the one you are using).

viewing feed or converting to csv
I can create and upload a feed, no problem. When I attempt to 'view' it, however, I always receive the 'this page cannot be displayed' from explorer. I right-clicked and 'saved' the 'view' and now I can view it - good.
However, I'd like to convert this feed to .csv so I can import my inventory to another online marketplace. I attempted to open the file in excel and receive a 'parse' error, and I really have no idea how else to convert the thing.
Anyone have any ideas?
-
Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
A future release will support both tabbed and xml format. However, you cannot convert the XML to CSV or tabbed at this time unless there is an external script that exists to do this.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Hello Everyone,
I have tried a few times to resolve this, lets give it one more, maybe someone has some insight.
I have loaded GBF. It shows up under the config tab, but not the tools tab. Check my post 1226 for a little better discription.
Thanks in advance,

This question is answered about a dozen times in this thread and also in the Numinix forum. You are missing some of the admin files, be sure each file has uploaded properly and Zen Cart will display the tools menu item.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
I am using Google Base Feeder 1.7.1a with Zen Cart 1.3.8a.
For some reason,
I do not have <g: payment_accepted> and <g: payment_notes> in my xml output.
I have to modify the *if statment*
in file googlefroogle.php Line 181, 267, 272
to:
if (1) {
to make it work.
Anyone had the same situation ?

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Hey Jeff,
I have added alot more products to my site after you last looked at it now I have like 18,000 products. I tried to upload the products last night but I got this error:

I am not sure if thats is caused by the number of product or something else have happened. I downloaded the last version on the site and updated the sql with no luck. You can reply here or email me.

I also just ran into this and suspect it is the wordpress addon which uses the "feed" part of URL for creating rss feeds.
Go to
/public_html/googlefroogle.php
and change all of the "feed" to "fed" down to about line 60.
In your
/public_html/admin/googlefroogle.php
change "feed" to "fed" in following locations:
Line #155 :
.php?feed=yes
Line #157 :
php?feed=yes&upload
Line #162 :
.php?feed=no
Line #163 :

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
The latest version only uses one parameter:
feed=fy_un_tp (where fy_un_tp can be altered for different functions).
Most likely his issue is from using the new command on an older version and simply upgrading the files to the latest version should resolve the issue.

the message now says

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
What do you have to do to make files for Google.uk and Google.de
They say that
the google.de has to be un German language and Euro price
the Google.uk has to be in English and Steerling pounds.
what do i need to do in google configure it doesn't have german in the language and doesn't have steerling pounds in currency..

I don't think you can get this to work will all 3 versions of Google Base at the moment.
I did post this question some time ago, but received no reply.
Hopefully, a future version of this contribution will support this.

What happens when you change the language and currency in the Google Base Configuration? The mod definitely works with Google Base UK.
-
Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
I've been able to get this contribution to work with Google Base UK. And it works great!
However, I would like to use it with Google Base in both the USA and Germany.
So, I was wondering if support for creating and uploading 3 different feeds was in the pipe line?
-
Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Hello there,
USA one is easy. You will have to set up a new feed name for America only in your Google Base. Then save the feed from your site to your desktop, and rename it the same as you define for the American feed.
The German one is difficult. I have been unable to login with my existing credentials so I reckon you may have to set up a new account for that one.

Yes, that's one option, but the prices would have to be changed. Also, I don't fancy doing this manual work everytime a product changes on my website.
It could become very boring... very quickly!

I only plan to support the USA and UK at this time. If you are willing to support the update I could make it compatible with the German website.
A bug has been found for the shipping outputs and a new version will be released after testing is complete.

So, is it possible to automatically submit a feed to the UK and US version of Google Base at the moment?

Lots of files have probably changed since your older version and you will need to make sure to overwrite all of the files (including the ADMIN).
This common mistake is highlighted in the documentation.

Google base feeder Not outputting anything
I installed Googlefroogle and double checked install as far as I can tell but when I go into tools, google base feeder, and choose "Create Product Feed: Click [HERE] to create / update your products feed."
It thinks for half a second and outputs a blank pop up window.
I copy and pasted the sql updates and as far as I can tell they worked fine.
Searched posts but couldn't find anyone else with similar problem.
Any Ideas?

What happens when you limit the feed to a lesser number of products?
Do you have wordpress?
How long did you leave the blank window open for?

I don't have wordpress, will anything else work
And I

I feel like i'm missing a file but have installed everything twice.

Out of Memory Error
Hi All
I originally had around 13,000 prods and the mod ran fine. Then I added a cat with subcats that has around 21,000 prods. I was able to run it on only that cat a few days ago. I have a few a 15 MB XMLs files that it created and Google accepted, so I know it worked fine until today. ZC 1.3.8, PHP 5
Now, it won't run at all. I haven't added anything since the last run, just moved prods around. I get an out of memory error, my host (hostgator) says they haven't made any changes recently.
I added half of my cats to the "Excluded Category" list, and still get the error. Then I cleared the excluded and just put 1 cat in the "Included Cats" list. Still get the memory error.
I'm using the category IDs, seperated by commas. Is that correct?
I'd really like to find a way to create these files. Is there a place I can hard-code the cat IDs in the code files?
Here's the memory error:

Did you make SURE that you uploaded the googlefroogle.php file to your root... it sits "outside" of the other folders and is easy to miss if you upload it manually.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Hi, I have been working at this Google Base Feeder for a long time now. I have searched the thread, and tried everything I could find. I am still getting the same results. Please Help.
Here is what I did:
Zen Cart Version 1.3.8
1. Download GBF and unzip it.
2. Upload all files to root directory on server(without sql files)
3. Paste googlefroogle into MySQL patches... it says 8 statements processed.
The problem is, the Google Base Config shows up under config, but there is nothing new under tools.
I have tried this process at least 10 times... I've tried re-downloading and unzipping it again. The permissions appear to be correct.. All the files seem to be on the server... please help
Thank you for your time

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
I have a similar problem I have installed Google Base feeder, it did not work so uninstalled it and reinstalled it again still does not work, everything in admin is as it should be but when I click:
Create Product Feed: Click [HERE] to create / update your products feed.
I just get a blank page.
When I click:
NOTE: You may view your product feed file before proceeding to step 2.
I get:
Internal Server ErrorThe server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
What am I doing wrong and can anybody please help.
-
Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
"Internal 500" means it's on your server. Go to your cPanel and check the server logs. It will tell you what the problem file is.
It's probably a permissions thing. Check the CHMOD on your "feeds" directory. Use the File Manager in your cPanel instead of your FTP program.

I have to say it may be, i have been trying to fix it for a while now.. one person was nice enough to give a perspective fix. but it did not work for me. if you search a few pages back, you can give it a try. it involves changing feed to fed in some of the config files. there was also a suggestion that i was using old commands with the new download. but that never panned out either.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Hello All.
First let me say that when I find what I am doing wrong... I am going to write detailed intructions on installing this contribution.
Second, thank you Numinix for all your help in previous posts.. and for the contribution itself.
Here is the issue: The config tab has the Google base feeder option, but the tools tab does not. According to previous posts, this is because not all of the admin files are being uploaded.
Some simple questions:
-When I unzip the folder (google_base_froogle_feeder_1-7-0a) do I put the contents of the folder: the (google_base_feeder) folder on the root directory, or do I put the actual (google_base_froogle_feeder_1-7-0a) folder in the root directory.
-As I understand from reading previous posts, the googlefroogle.php file goes outside of the directory... which googlefroogle file are we a talking about? There is one of these in every folder.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Hello, I've just installed this and it seems to work fine, except that it only creates a file no larger than 660kB. The website I am working on has, no kidding, over 80,000 items. I know this would be a substantial amount to process. Is there a way to up the limit?
:shocking:

I have alot of products and when I Installed this Mod I had a problem just like this, I had to adjust setting in PHP for how much memory and max execution time a script can run, had to play with that until the script would complete with all the products included in the feed.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
would it be possible to add condition if I have added a condition field?
Just I sell both new and used, so wondering what I would need to do?

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
I have read about a hundred entries in this thread and searched for this several different ways.
I know you have a commercial mod for Magic SEO URLs, and I am looking into it.
I have 3 sites using the Multi-Site mod. One of the sites is using MSU, the other two are using standard URLs.
Will this mod work for me?
Will it do the different urls for each site in the MultiSite mod? (there will soon be a total of 5 sites with different templates)
Will it work in conjunction with the MSU version of this site? (can I run both versions on the same site/document root?)
I am currently feeding the output from easy populate advanced, (doing a search and replace for the URLs for each site) and manually uploading, but the URLs are the dynamic URLs not MSUs.
Thanks

Hey Wagner, I had the same problem. I'm a toying rookie, but did some trial and error. I'm on 1.3.8 with WOZ installed.
The "changing feed to fed" did not work for me either straight up.
For me, the admin/googlefroogle.php file had 6 feed to fed changes on lines 156-167, not 4.
For /googlefroogle.php, I had to go back and change line 39 to:
$fed = $google_base->get_feed($fed_parameter);
Originally, I had changed "get_feed" to "get_fed" and that hosed it up. I changed line 39 back to "get_feed" and I'm up and running now.
maybe that will help you.

So you did not change anything to fed except line 39?

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Hi all
Might sound like a dumb question but how do I submit to UK (default), USA and Germany all at the same time?

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Installed the google base mod today, but when I press the upload button in admin I'm getting this error:
Quote:
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
Upload started...
Login failed:
Connected to: uploads.google.com
Upload failed...
What does it mean? I think I may have done something obvious wrong.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Kate: no maybe not. Did you just set up your google account? Make sure you setup ftp access (in google) as well. If you did this all, it still takes about 24h to be able to access via ftp upload.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Hi All,
I have a problem with the feed output file.
For some reason it's including the "<!-Description..." and other script codes (from the tabbed products [TPP]) I have no idea what to do to exclude these from appearing in the feed file under the description :frusty:

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Alik, what did you install first? Did google feed work before? Did you check if some files need to be merged for the two mods to work together? Just some thoughts to narrow it down for you.
