Re: ozpost shipping module
Does anyone else have a problem with the ozpost module being somewhat steep on delivery pricing?
I have set it up in a test environment and configured one item as follows:
LxWxH = 25cm*20cm*18cm (actual size)
Weight = 3Kg
Delivery and receiving postcodes = 2450
I then checked the Auspost website based calculator and got:
Regular Parcel = $7.95
Express Parcel = $10.20
Express Platinum = $14.40
The Ozpost module gave me:
Regular Parcel: $16.45
Registered: $19.25
Insured: $42.45
I have all handling fees set for $0
Any ideas?

No idea at all: I just typed these same figures into the Australia post website and it returned
Regular $9.25
3kg Satchel $9.90
Express parcel $19.80
I run the same figures through the ozpost server and got
Regular 9.25
Regd 12.05
Express 19.80
The only difference between the ozpost quotes and the Australia post website quotes is that the Australia post website suggests that a product of these dimensions will fit it a 3kg Satchel, but the ozpost module (correctly) implies that it won't fit. The ozpost module also gives the price for reg'd delivery.
I can't find any correlation between the weights and dimensions you specified with any of the quoted figures that you provided.
Please supply a URL so I can confirm your data.
Cheers
Rod
Re: ozpost shipping module
Thanks Rod, I did find the problem and have fixed it. It had to do with my own setup but the product I was testing the module on was linked to another product, this adding both to the shipping estimate.
I can confirm the ozpost module seems to work fine with Zen-cart 1.3.0.2
Only issue is (and it's a smal one) is that is shows different fonts in the checkout area than the rest of the page does. I'm near sure I can sort that out myself.

Strictly speaking this won't be an ozpost issue, on account of the fact that the ozpost module doesn't define any font styles for itself, it relies on the sites' .css files (as a good module should). The only 'exception' being with the textual based icons (eg, the 'estimated delivery time' text) and the fix for this is to either create your own icons, or turn the icons off.

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hello RodG,
Now that I have ozpost running fine, and tried unsuccessfully to install the Shipping Insurance mod' by Numinx, a few things have jumped onto my "wish list" as enhancements for your excellent ozpost mod.
1. Options to insure the shippment to its full value, for each shipping method.
2. An automatically generated Registered Post form to make posting Registered Post items faster.
3. Shipping Labels form, probably using the Packing_slip.php
Thanks for the ozpost mod.

It already does this, with the exception of the prepaid satchels, and it was only after careful consideration that I negated these, and did so because of the 'convenience factor', namely, the use of prepaid satchel means you don't need to enter the post office to mail them, but by adding insurance means that you do, and that being the case a regular insured parcel will usually be more a more economical method to use (with more robust packaging).

This is outside of the scope for what a shipping quotation module needs to do. Such a feature would best be implemented in the packing slip module.

Again, this is outside the scope of a shipping module.
I have no plans or desire to develop, modify and/or maintain additional modules beyond the function of the shipping quotation module itself.

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi Rod,
I noticed that Aust Post now have 5Kg Express Satchels.
Do you have any plans of releasing an updated Mod (which is great btw) to accomodate these.
Ps.. Whilst I now live on Central Coast NSW, I grew up and went to school in Reynella/Morphett Vale.!

Really? This is the first I've heard of them (Not that this is unusual, I rarely enter a post office these days, and the Australia post website is quite often way behind with updating this type of information.

Until now I didn't, but it is something I'll need to consider.

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi Rod
I've just installed the ozpost module and I'm testing on my site. I found the following difference in charges and was wondering if you could shed some light.
Regular post from 2571 to 6918 150grams
29 x 25 x 2.5
ozpost charge is $3.50
Australia post calculation is $4.35
Have I not set-up the configuration correctly? Or
Has there been some charge changes from Aust Post and do I need to update or run something to include these changes if need be?
Thanks Rod, really like this module.
Cheers
Dee

1. Sorry, I can't shed any light. It has me mystified. The following link is replicating the input data you provided, and you should have gooted a quote of $4.35
http://ozpost.vcsweb.com/postage.php...lue=69&flags=1
2. All changes to postage costs are updated on the server. You don't need to do anything.
If your error persists please post the URL to your store and the item in question so I can confirm/verify the data with the logfiles.
Cheers
Rod
