This is related to font awesome icons. For some reason your font awesome style sheet is not loading properly. Check you link. if that's ok, you might try another version of font-awesome.

1. REMOVE 'details' tab under price in a product listing - using inspector in Firefox I found reference to stylesheet.css line 258 .pl-details - I edited this line out but the tab still shows and I cannot find any configuration specifically for this in admin ... ??
2. REDUCE the amount of whitespace as indicated - I have found and adjusted what I can in stylesheet.css however I have likely missed some lines or there is some other method of reducing the whitespace .. ??

I installed the new westminster 1.3 template on a zen-cart 1.5.5.e website that was upgraded from version 1.3.6.
On this website you can see the reviews in a second tab as here appearing: http://www.hblogo.be/logo/index.php?...oducts_id=1790 .
As i have multiple websites. For my second website i copied the full upgraded sub directory and linked it to the old 1.3.6 database, then ran the upgrade database to get it to 1.5.5 and then did my layout/images/css modifications to give it a different view. Now, on this second website the reviews are not appearing: http://www.hbgarden.be/tuin/index.ph...oducts_id=1915 .
Somebody an idea what could have gone wrong. Do i potentially miss an entry in the database that is not being created automatically when doing the upgrade database and the install of the new westminster template?
Anyone an idea how i could try to debug this?
Have you checked to see if it is turned on in the Layout Boxes Controller under the Tools menu in the admin backend?
Hello, yes it is.
What i did notice is that i was missing in the bannermanager the 'Custom Tab' entry. I now added that one. And thanks to this the reviews are now appearing as you can see here: http://www.hbgarden.be/tuin/index.ph...oducts_id=1873 .
Now, the only issue is that they appear in a 'Custom Tab' and not in the 'Reviews' tab.

My site used to work fine. I am now migrating my site to a new hosting with an other php version, being now 7.1

Here's the thing folks are going to have to realize with a lot of the initial responsive templates.
Most, especially this one, were released even before PHP 5.6. And, as of three days ago, PHP 5.6 is no longer officially supported in ANY way.
PHP 7.1 will not be supported in ANY way on 1 Dec, 2019.
Unless you are able to put a band-aid on the PHP, it's just going to be a major headache each time your host is forced to move to the next level.
I do believe that time is better spent to make the responsively template into your own. What we do is use lat9's clone a template to make a copy of the responsive_classic. Then, we use the color change mod to adjust basic colors. Then, we clone again to start making the tweaks necessary to finalize your look.
You can always find newer ways to include sliders and other items that need the newer PHP.
Well said - Excellent post - I know I am not your favorite zenner after our little tiff however I think this is one of the best posts I have read in a long time. I myself am continually having problems with this template and have stubbornly persisted in staying with it, primarily due to lack of confidence, however I am as of this moment going to do exactly what you suggested dbltoe. I've just upgraded to ZC 1.5.5f and run 155 Westminster New latest version. My server has PHP 7.0 set at the moment because the formatting falls apart when I use 7.1 or above.
I've got an annoying button problem with the SOLD OUT button that replaces the DETAILS buttgon on the products display. The DETAILS button is perfectly aligned but the SOLD OUT button is displayed slightly lower and half of the word "details" can be seen behind the top of the button. I've attached an image of my site to show how this looks. I think there's a stray line/carriage return been added somewhere in some code that is dropping the button down 1 line. That being said, I've looked everywhere for it (Dev Toolket etc) and can't find the offending file. Can anyone offer any advice?

Does anyone try to update to Zencart 1.5.6a? I am trying to upgrade from ZenCart 1.5.5f to 1.5.6a, everything looks good, but it reminds me the database needs to be updated
Your database appears to need patching to a higher level. See Admin->Tools->Server Information to review patch levels.
So I updated, but the sad thing is the front store and admin both cannot show correctly, and when I checked the logs, there are the following errors, someone, please help, thank you very much.

I can't help on this one but can confirm that I tried a fresh install of Westminster New on ZC 1.5.6 and PHP 7.2 but couldn't get it to run properly. Sticking with ZC 1.5.5f and PHP 7.1 for now in the hope that the creator comes up with an upgrade. I'd be thrilled to hear if anyone has the ZC 1.5.6a and PHP 7.2 working...

im using Westminster New on zencart v1.5.6a)
unfortunately still have the issues where sub cats don't work.. many have had this issue and its come to light that the Westminster New template does not run correctly with updated zencart releases..
has anyone managed to get a fix.. on another thread i created this is the answer i got
You are using a template that was not designed for zc156.. The template makes use of some older mods which can work, but you would need to check the template support page on what needs updating. Some things you can do now that may help you, turn off the side box cats, I use a sticky menu that locks it to the top of the screen, so I turned mine off. Use the responsive classic template until you can get yours updated. If you switch to the classic and all works, then you have template issues with the one you tried to install. Lest you can still do businesses while looking the other one over.

Just an opinion .... I run this template on 1.5.5f and 7.1 without any major issues (other than some plugins initially not liking the quirks of 1.5.5f / 7.1 but most have been modified now and nothing to do with the template in any case).Quote:

On product pages I want to want to get rid of the 'Details' and 'Reviews' tabs and simply have that information flow under the description - how can I do that please?
(it makes it impossible to use Structured Data Markup properly because data like Manufacturer and Review do not show up on the page !! - hence adversely affects SEO)

Understand that you are tossing monies in a corner trash can when you continue to try to drag along a 5-year old template and make it work with current versions. 1.5.6b will have you repeating the process in even more ways.:no:
Your solution is stylesheet.css line 270. You can delete the padding call all together and turn the margin-bottom to some negative number around -50px in order to close the gap. IF you do that, you will need to change the color on the border call to something other than #fff. Otherwise the customer may not be able to tell whether prices go with the item above or the one below.

Thanks for the very detailed reply, Currently this is a bench-test install (not Live - localhost ) it is therefor also a fresh install using the basic version 1.5.6b and it had only the " Westminster New " template /plugin undergoing installation and testing.
The Idea is to upgrade my sites if I can get a better google report on mobiles.
I have a number of your Templates running, I'm biased but I consider you in the forefront in the mobile coding. so I grabed this one with both hands and a hot mouse.. ..
I am testing on a Ubuntu 18.04 machine with a LAMP so the Apache, Php and MYSQL are quite Current. I am Sorry, I tried finding my debug files that led my to the "layout_controller.php" but to no avail .
I'm trying to install this and it's not going well. I did a clean install of Zencart 1.6b. That is working
I uploaded the westminster files as directed. I then installed the flexible footer. After changing the template to westminster I received the following error "WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again.If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields."
I'm getting the same message when trying to log back into the admin section but it looks ok on the website end.
I checked and all the pages are in the correct directories.

Probably not a problem with the template. More than likely, there's a bad connection to the database on the admin side. Make sure your settings in YOUR_ADMIN/includes/configure.php are correct.
Also, when you get an error, there should be a file in the logs folder for that error. You can use the # to display that file for us to better help.
Did you follow the installation instructions? They are a bit different than the pre 1.5.6x instructions. I suspect the errors are because you are not following the installation instructions.
Most importantly, after uploading the files, you need to log into your zen cart admin, or just click on the admin home link, and then install the flexible footer menu in admin--tools--flexible footer menu install. Then you will select the template and reset the sideboxes in the layoutboxes controller.

I specifically could not get anywhere near the Layout box controller. Even trying in phpmyadmin I could not run the patch without error's , but I had to repair the tables as phpmyadmin was reporting an error.

I did an installation on an old Ubuntu 14 ( that I am using for "asterisk" )
However I used the latest Zencart 1.5.5.c
I still got the same problems, I had to replace " layout_controller.php " with the zencart original then I could do the template installation without a problem.
I kept on resetting the Layout boxes and then finally I did the Westminster New template installation
It installed Ok and the then I did the footer and layout for the Westminster New.
After the template was running I could put back the Westminster New " layout_controller.php " and the site seems to run ok
Oh . . . and I repeated again the Layout Controller reset

As an FYI. I started to install this template (ZC version 1.56c clean install ) and as soon as I switched templates in the admin file I got an error message and couldn't get back. I reinstalled Westminster, file by file to see where the issue was. The file that was causing the problem is in admin/includes/autoloaders/config.westminster.new.php. I removed that file and it seems to be working (so far). It looks ok on the computer but I haven't checked other devices. I just wanted to let you know that file was an issue for me. Is it absolutely essential? Any reason why it was an issue?

I have a question for template version 1.4. I installed it on zen cart 1.5.5f. I noticed that, after I turned off "Carousel Featured Products", the featured products displayed on the homepage has placement issue. If I set to display four items per row, some rows show four items correctly, but some rows only show just one item. It may locate on the very left position. Some may locate in the middle.
By my test, setting to display either 3 per row or 6 per row has no issue. But setting to display either 4 or 5 per row will have this issue.
I switched back to the default template and this issue is gone.
Any tips? I really want to display four items per row....

Not normally thought of as a troubleshooting tool but, the Mod List mod can "expose" double loading of portions of mods. May be helpful in this case.
We "adjust" the code slightly to align the listing with the Admin Menu Layout.
Look for double listings in the New Admin Pages and any Missing Admin Configuration Pages.
So maybe the difference is that you have the flexible footer menu installed and not the flexible footer multilingual plugin?Quote:

It's so new, I haven't changed any images yet :-)

Does this mean I have to activate an sql somewhere? The install didn't ask me to process any, although I vaguely remember having to do them back in 2006.
I don't think there is a MySQL install file with the template BUT, the footer does need to be properly installed.
Have you followed the instructions in the westminster_new_readme.html that comes with the template?
