Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
oavs <
Out of those links you quoted, click on the "Create Complete tab-delimited .txt file in temp dir (Attributes Not Included)" one. Then go to your temp dir and get the generated txt file. Open the file with MS Excel or OOo Calc.
If your store has no products yet, then you'll only have one row with the headers, which are actually the database table's column names. In each following row fill the data you will add, including the product's model, which is what EasyPopulate uses instead of the product's ID, so make them all unique.
To be sure what data to include, you may want to add a single product using the cart's admin and then export the file as explained above, then in the file you'll have that product in the first row after the headers. Then, for the other products, follow the guide of that product regarding the data you see filled. One product per row.
When you're done with the file, save and copy the file back to the temp dir. Go back to EasyPopulate in the admin area of the Zen Cart and paste the name of the file in the third text input field, the one named "Import from Temp Dir (temp/)" and click the "Insert to DB" button. You'll get a confirmation of the action after done, with a detail at the bottom of the page.

I just tried it again and it does create the category if it doesn't exist. ;)

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I have a couple of questions, the first out of curiosity and the other out of trouble.
In the products table, EP doesn't save a master_categories_id value. Is this bad or of no concern?
I've just populated for a second time a new store, which had everything working fine before I removed every product, but now in the category listing, when I click on an other page, i.e. ?page=2, it just keeps displaying the same products from the first page. Does this have anything to do with EP? I ask because its the only thing I did after checking the it worked before removing the products and repopulating.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
hiya
I have previously used zen cart and easy populate with no problems, but in the last few days I have needed to use zen cart and EP again.
I have downloaded and installed the latest version of both zen and EP, then have gone into admin and downloaded a blank spreadsheet.
I have uploaded a small sample of stock to the store, and am getting the following error
Quote:
Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/performe/public_html/shop/admin/easypopulate.php on line 2067
When you look at the shop, it is adding the categories but not the stock. Please can anyone tell me where I am going wrong?
I have opened that easypopulate.php file up and on line 2067 it says:
PHP Code:
$row = mysql_fetch_array($result);
but I dont have a clue what that means lol
I have thousands of products to list, and almost 6000 of them are already in a spreadsheet so could easily copy the columns over to the EP one .. I would hate it if I had to add them all one by one eeek
Thanks for any help you can give

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I have a problem with EP. When I add a new product, it makes a new post in the products_description table, but not in the products table.. Therefore the new items never show up in the shop.
Anyone who has a solution to this?

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
please ignore my query, I had installed the wrong EP. The one I had previously used was the one by Langor and I had not installed that one this time. I have removed the EP I installed and replaced by Langor's and its all working perfectly :)

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hello Everyone!
i installed EP and the problem i have is when i upload my products in a inactive "0" mode they show up in my live catalog. This happens whether if I upload 5 or 500 items.
Can someone help me fix this problem?
Thanks

mydssbin,
It's suppose to do that. If the product is at anytime available to your store, just change the inactive (0) to active (1) and mark your quanity to zero. That way it you just notify your customer -- Out of Stock--. Otherwise remove the item using status (9).
No matter what I do if I add a NEW CATEGORY in EP, it always shows up. Never an error with EP to date.

Ok I think I got the concept now. Unfortunately in my case it only created the first line of the datafeed with one category and details. Rest of the info is ignored even so I can see in admin following (only included some of the lines for the forum)

Re: Easy Populate support
Was this ever changed? How is it done?
I have loaded the version for zencart 1.3.8 with Easy Populate. My website is a bookstore with lots of new fields like reference, version, binding, index, red letters, etc. I have not loaded a small sample as of yet. Wondering how to get the extra fields on my access file that is tab-delimited.
I have been searching through the forums and have not found the answer.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi I recently installed easy populate and im a bit lost on how to use it, so far i've Selected the first link under
"Download EP and Froogle Files
"Download Complete tab-delimited .txt file to edit (Attributes Not Included) "
and downloaded this, i then went to the .txt file and copy pasted it to xcel 2007 and saw how easy it was to edit everything, unfortunately...when i save it after making corrections back to a .txt file, i try to upload the file to "Upload EP > insert into DB" and it does nothing. Then i was thinking if there was a way to upload this file manually with my ftp ... but Im not sure where abouts in my phpadmin where i would do this. Could someone help point me in the right direction?

Hi,
Go back to the start.
Download Complete tab-delimited.txt file and save to your computer...
Find the file and right click to "Open with" and scroll to Excel.
Do all your editing on the open Excel file.
When complete, "Save As" and it will notice it is a tabdelimited.txt file and say yes. close the Excel program and click no to save the changes. (that part refers to if you changed any cell width or height).
Now that you have a tabdelimited.txt file you can go back to tools/EP and upload either as a single file, or split file. Unless you ftp'd it to your temp directory.
Let me know.

in response to this, i read the previous page and found most of my answer, does it matter what you name the text file? and when your ;inserting from temp... do you have to add the file extension? Is it normal for this upload to take forever?

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
mydssbin,
If you used 9 to delete the product, don't worry about removing it from your tabdeliminated.txt file. It will just show up in a purple color saying it can't be deleted since it was already deleted. You may want to reinsert the product later. Saves extra writing.

How big's the file. Look under your "Server Version" and see if it says 127.0.0.1
That should be "Database Host" localhost -------

Re: Easy Populate support
Can anyone please help me.
I have been looking around for help with the following error I received when trying to import a test.txt file.
Warning: fopen(/var/www/html/uploads/test.txt): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/html/catalog/admin/includes/easypopulate/classes/eclipse/FileIterator.php on line 146
Warning File Import Failed! Primary index column p_products_id or c_categories_index_path missing from uploads file. Please consult the readme.html file for more information
The file was exported from Easy Populate and then I added 1 line and then uploaded the file and tried to import the file. The above error occurred. I tried to change the permissions on the files uploaded to see if that was a problem and the same error occurred. When I changed the permission on the file to "777" and tried, the same error occurred and the file then disappeared off the server.
Please can you assist with this problem.
Cheers

It appears that the MySql does not reside on your store hosting server, rather than on an external server is why is says only 2mb Max Size. Local host would usually be 4mb. Did you try splitting the upload EP?
All else, go to phpmyadmin and dump the entire database of products and go back to EP and split the files. Backup prior and use the store manager to reset and optimize the database.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I have a bookstore with lots of attributes like binding, version, closure, red letter, etc.
I loaded Easy Populate did the config and everything went fine. I also took my access file with three products and changed to txt file and changed the header names with v_products_model format. I made sure to follow format even down to EOREOR at the end of each line. I did the load from my admin area and bottom said everything went fine with no errors. But, no products showed up.
Besides no products showing up - my other concern is additional attributes. I have so many attributes that are listed on my original file. I had to delete them to get the sample ones to work. Is there anyway to follow the file format for txt file with new names that fit my attributes, so they can be loaded? Or should I be using something else instead of Easy Populate?
Thanks,

i spoke to my hosting, they changed my limit and even regardless of my increased limit.. they say the file was small enough to be uploaded.. so thats not the issue :(

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hello everyone!
I managed to get Easy Populate installed without a hitch. I uploaded my set of products, but when I did so I recieved this error:
Code:
Warning: explode() [function.explode]: Empty delimiter in /home2/weargcom/public_html/smithwesson/elocin/includes/functions/extra_functions/easypopulate_functions.php on line 241

Warning: explode() [function.explode]: Empty delimiter in /home2/weargcom/public_html/smithwesson/elocin/includes/functions/extra_functions/easypopulate_functions.php on line 241
Additionally, I received this error in the output:
Code:
No model field in record. This line was not imported | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

The weird thing is, all products seem to have uploaded just fine. I have to make some minor tweaks, but everything seems to be working...
What does this mean?

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I am not a developer, so I can't cash in on this, but why, oh why doesn't someone take the initiative to build *something*, *anything* that will actually deal with editing attributes through a spreadsheet? I would likely pay some decent bucks to have this happen.
I installed ZenCart for several different clients - assuming that I'd be able to use EP to edit the hundreds (literally) of attributes in these stores and now it seems like there really isn't a tool to do this.
One client needs to up all their prices July 1. There is virtually no way (that I know of) to edit their attributes "offline" so that they can be uploaded and become effective on July 1 - or is there?
Any suggestions? Anyone?

Hi Janelle,
I do not use attributes but have played with them a little. If all of them are assigned within a store, and just need updating, then the option to download Model with Attributes in EP should get what you need. The one that I played with had three attributes and the final total was priced via the attributes chosen. It is a little cryptic but I figured it out after a couple of attempts. Depending on how the values were originally assigned, an incremental dollar amount may be needed, instead of the actual price.
Regards,
Dennis

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for your reply. I didn't find it cryptic, I found it impossible! Once you get past the first set of columns of products, it seems to start a new set of columns (but with the model numbers missing). Whether I open it in OpenOffice or Excel, I see this same oddness.
I'm wondering if someone could help me with some SQL though and maybe we can all figure out if this is the best way to go about this. After running this SQL, I propose to edit the resulting spreadsheet, to remove the products_description column and then to upload the products_attributes table with this new data.
Here's the SQL statement I've come up with - however, it limits the products_id to one (and there are three attributes on each of my products). If I'm not being clear, let me know. I'm *really* rusty with my SQL. Can someone help me fix it so that it returns all rows in products_attributes with the products description matched up?
Select A1.products_name, A2.*
From products_description A1, products_attributes A2
Where A1.products_id=A2.products_id
Group by A2.products_id
Thanks!
Janelle

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi
I have installed easy populate 1.2.5.4 and it seems to work ok but when I go and download the "Model/Category tab-delimited .txt file to edit" it only gives me the model and there are no categories
v_products_model EOREOR
EML4032 EOREOR
It does not give any error and I cant seem to get a sample file to download. The other files download all fine
Please help

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
fakeDecoy : Google have changed the format of the feed since 1.2.5.4 was written and it will not work now. There is a new contr. for this which I believe works with XML, other wise you would need to edit the file to the new format, search in the download section.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
kburner : Enter one product in a cat. via ZC and then download that file via complete download, edit/add products to that file and reload. EP will only work if there are product already in the database. OO and Office will only work with I think 255 columns which you can use up very quickly with EP, so you may need to use a different text editor.
hbombza : Check your version of EP Version 1.2.5.4 is the best that works out of the box !
milobloom : This is a known bug in 1.2.5.4 search this thread for details.
erinl : What version are you using ?
xt0rt : read your error 'Empty delimiter ' & 'No model field in record' it looks as if your upload file format is incorrect, the best way to test is download a complete file to start with and look at that alter a few things and then upload the new file, and I am sure that will work for you.
janellez : The problem with doing it via sql, ZC needs to update several tables at once, attributes are held in a different table to product details and ZC uses table ids not model name/numbers as references in the these tables,so when EP updates the db it queries the model number/ref to get the table id number and then inserts the data or updates the data by the table id's. Other than coding it yourself or seeing if EP Advance works better for you, you will just have to live with the present version.

Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4 (by Langer (Modhole) Not from ZC Downloads)
navneet : By default EP gives you 7 categories which should be showing in the header live in the download file whether you have 7 or not set up in ZC.
Did you upload your products via EP firstly ? as ZC does not like excepting uploads from EP unless there is a product and category already set up originally via ZC not EP. What Version are you using ? (Langer 1.2.5.4 from Modhole not ZC Downloads is the one to use! as the others seem to be buggy.)
What does your complete file give you ? is there 7 cats. in that ?

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
hello all,
i have been using google "site:www.zen-cart.com/forum stuff i want found"
and it had worked well until now..
i have installed easy populate and found it helpful - but now i would like to remove all products or rather rename models and products and generally clean up my products.
problem is when ever i change the model, the easy populate add a new product.
note: at first i thought it would use excels row numbering as a primary key to make sure no duplicate records exist, but i dont think that works.
so now i have lots of half arsed products in one of my categories. what would be manageable way of correcting my catalog of products ?
thank you.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
omen - download a Download Complete tab-delimited .txt and change the second to last field v_status from 1 to 9 and that will delete that product from the database - see the readme file in EP zip file.

thank you - that worked perfectly :)
there are so many un-documented zencart scripts that i forgot to check the readme.
by no means is easypopulate a perfect solution for product/stock management, but its the best thing we have so far.

I must have missed this in the directions. I load the product first via admin/catagories with model # and ?. After that I can load .txt file with all other information? I am using access database. It has all file information. I have to change all the category names and delete a lot of attributes as I save it to a different file name as a .txt file also.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi, can I make the minimum order quantity by EP module?
I have thousands of products feeded by EP and can't find how to make this minimum quantity for them!
I wish someone has got a solution for it. Tried to look also advanced EP but this 1.2.5.4 still looks otherwise best for me.

hi,
i have a site located in this way:
public_html/o-bean.com (o-bean.com is where my zen cart is)
i've unzipped ep and renamed 'admin' to 'ep_admin' and 'temp' to 'ep_upload'
may i know where i sld upload the files to? and how about the others lik history, install sql, read me... etc?
-
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
ellivir - Sorry EP will not do this but I would have thought that you could write a sql script to do this easily ?
francesca_ph - You haven't put EP in the right folders ! as with any addon module the folders are set out like ZC's format so just drop the files in the same folders as your ZC format. You cannot rename these folders to your liking.
So if mod. folder is named admin put those files in ZC's admin folder, or if they are in includes put then in ZC's includes.
'/public_html/' is your 'www' folder which everyone see on the internet.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi Scrat,
under public_html/o-bean.com/admin, i also have the folder name 'include'
and inside both 'inculdes' folder, i have functions, languages, datafiles and boxes as folders....
what can i do? i can't just replace them like that, right?
and I also have a 'temp' folder in EP, but i have no 'temp' folder under obean.com/

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
francesca_ph : You don't seem to have grasped how Zencart and add-ons folders work.
You will of cause be the same, as the folder structure are the same, because the author is showing which folder the files are put...
Under the Mod's folder - Admin you have file easypopulate.php
So you put this in the Admin folder of your ZC, then in admin/includes/boxes/extra_boxes/easypopulate_tools_dhtml.php you would that file in public_html/o-bean.com/admin/includes/boxes/extra_boxes/easypopulate_tools_dhtml.php
etc etc etc...
ellivir - Have a read up on sql its pretty straight forward mysql tutorial I am sure if you cannot program you should be-able to do this in excel again with some research.

Error message when updating database by SSH
Hello all,
I used to be able to update my database via the admin easy populate tool. However, changes at my host - coupled with the size of the file - have made me switch to updates via SSH (which I have yet to do successfully).
I am getting the following message when trying to upload a file:
ERROR at line 1: Unknown command '\ '.
The structure of the file is as follows (note the "|" symbol has been added to this post to delineate fields):
v_products_model | v_products_image | EOREOR
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance, Newbie Linda

Did you try using the temp dir to generate the txt file into to download from and then upload the txt file to it and insert into db from it?
-
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
francesca_ph :- Look at your error message it tells you your problem...
You haven't /home/musicalv/public_html/o-bean.com/admin/easypopulate.php installed on the server. Also you would need to create a /temp folder on your server with permissions correctly set, read the readme file...
maxim : - have you tried to download a complete file and open, changed some detail and re upload to the server to see if this works, as usual errors are in file format, this is always a good test to see if everything works OK.

Error message when updating database by SSH & CRLF issue
Dear Anguz and Scrat:
This newbie isn't quite advanced enough to understand all of your guidance, but I think I have discovered the problem based on trying to do what both of you suggested.
The file that I am trying to insert is listed in the temp directory as the following file type: ASCII text, with CRLF line terminators; whereas files that I have generated to the temp directory are listed as ASCII text files (only).
I've tried cutting and pasting the data into one of the generated files, but I still get the CRLF line terminator format.
Any ideas?
Newbie  Linda

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
maxim : Don't know anything about SSH, but after goolging I found this quote:
Quote:
This is because SSH
# servers seem to treat CRLF as two line-ends.
Quote:
FTP and SFTP clients will often have an option to send files as
ASCII/BINARY/AUTO. This option controls how CRLF is handled when
encountered in the source file. This option has nothing at all to do with
the FTP/SFTP protocol itself; but is an option often included in client
software.
Basically you need to SFTP your file in ASCII not BINARY so you should have setting in your FTP software to send .txt files as ASCII.
Hope that helps ?

francesca_ph : PHP gives you error messages as above if you read the error it is saying that it cannot find the easypopulate.php file, so I would check that all your files are in the right folders first. Strange thing you seem to have two temp folders one inside the other
Quote:
home/musicalv/public_html/o-bean.com/temp/temp/
I would start again, ftp all the files again to make sure you have them all in the right folders, check that you have the /temp folder in the right directory and then import/export a test file.(Also the right permissions especially the temp folder!)
winwallc : Easyiest way download a complete tab file and it should be pretty straight forward how it works, then add a product to that file and upload it via EP.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
francesca_ph :
Have you reinstalled the files ?
You had so much problems setting this up putting the files in the right folder, I can only think a file is corrupted or in the wrong folder ?
As I stated, start again, delete the EP files off the server first , and reinstall.
EP just works if you have it set up correctly.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
i juz updated the file and uploaded it.
it says upload successful and shows all the items being updated
but when i refresh my store, it does not show anything at all
i have included product model (tho i do not know what is that for), item name, qty, statues, brand, AND PUT ALL 'EOREOR' (also do not know what is dat)

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
francesca_ph : First of all ZC needs some products already in the database for EP to work, so enter one or two products in via ZC not EP.
Secondly EP will only work if you have a model ref this is unique to that product you CANNOT have duplicate model ref's or EP .

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
:frusty:
Like the gentleman who seems frustrated by not being able to see anything when using EP to upload product - I am having the same issue.
My file is in excel, but is a tab delimited text file - what I did, to be sure that I used the same contextual file as EP uses, is that I first downloaded the current prod/price/category file and deleted all the previous content, leaving the heading in-tact.
I then formatted my content to fit in the proper columns and uploaded the file. It tells me the upload was successful and I go to look in the specific category, but there is nothing. So I thought perhaps that I needed to Import from Temp Dir (temp/) so, copy and pasting the temp file name into the import section - it tells me that the import was successful, but again, nothing is there.
I did read something about htaccess and global settings set to on - but mine is already set so...I'm not sure where to turn. I read the "readme.txt" file, but I am finding nothing useful to help me with this issue.
I have no other specifics that I can give on this issue as there are no warnings, errors or anything other than it stating it was successful and below that a list of all that was supposed to have been uploaded.
Would it be helpful to reinstall this mod, overwriting the old, or does someone have some information that may help me with this issue? Any help would be extremely appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
When you are preparing your .csv file for upload, what is the best way to add the line breaks in the descriptions if you have thousands of products?
-
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I think that would be in your EP Configuration in the admin - from what I have read.
This is what I see under the smart tags:
Smart Tags Replacement of Newlines
Quote:
Allows your description fields in your uploads file to have carriage returns and/or new-lines converted to HTML line-breaks on uploading, thus preserving some rudimentary formatting (default: true).
But then I am a newbie so don't quote me on this - someone else may have a better answer - but thought it just might be something to look into.

EP reports that it has imported OK but it does not show up in the product list....
However... it WILL update an existing product if it is already in the DB using this method.
What can i possibly be doing wrong?

SaMortensen : Have you got products in ZC already as ZC does not accept EP imports otherwise. If so edit the present data and upload and see if that works, 9 times out of 10 it will be your file format which is wrong. Also check your version => Version 1.2.5.4 is the one to use...

dear Scrat,
ZC already have products in it. its the demo. i haven deleted them as I need the various examples as guides.
Mine is a pet food store, therefore under 'model' i cannot have the same word like 'treats' 'kibbles' 'toys' ? coz under the demo, which i opened, it has 4products 'normal' and 2 products 'special'. only 1 was sucessfully uploaded. i.e. the 1st one.
also what do you mean by duplicate EP? meaning i can only have 1 file in the temp dir?
and what is 'EOREOR' ?

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
francesca_ph : You have to have a unique model reference which is the first field in all the file .csv download files.
So product1, product2, product3 etc etc
Otherwise EP cannot find the product to insert/update/delete
If you download a complete file it will show you an example from the sample data.

Two Very Import Fields : -
You need in v_status either : 1 = new import or 9 = Delete this product and every line/row must have " EOREOR " at the end.

I tried to upload files today using easy populate v1.2.5.4 .....i was trying to update my first half of my files with the produtcts url's and then I upload some new files...well...i kept getting this error
and the only thing i added was the manufacturers url to my product information that shouldnt have messed it up should it?
This is the error i kept on getting:

and anything you might have done that may have
caused the error.</p>
<p>More information about this error may be available
in the server error log.</p>
</body></html>
Then after i tried to upload my files so many times i got this error:

If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
I know what the second error is....its because i had to many products/attributes uploaded at one time and the server cannot handle it....
But the first error (internal server error) i have no idea whats going on that has never happened before.
I know i have it set up right to because the other day i uploaded 1299 items with no problem.....
Could this be a problem with my hosting?
I have netfirms right now

and the only thing i added was the manufacturers url to my product information that shouldnt have messed it up should it?
This is the error i kept on getting:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<html><head>
<title>500 Internal Server Error</title>
</head><body>
<h1>Internal Server Error</h1>
<p>The server encountered an internal error or
misconfiguration and was unable to complete
your request.</p>
<p>Please contact the server administrator,
[email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred,
and anything you might have done that may have
caused the error.</p>
<p>More information about this error may be available
in the server error log.</p>
</body></html>
Then after i tried to upload my files so many times i got this error:
1226 User 'u70568462' has exceeded the 'max_questions' resource (current value: 50000)
in:
[select value from sessions where sesskey = 'ba0414ffc29cc39d6fa5871e0407183b' and expiry > '1216072998']
I have netfirms right now
I forgot to mention Also my files are split in to 200 products per file.....
the first time i uploaded them they worked fine...now after i uploaded them with the manufacturers url...it has an internal server error

Scrat,
Thank you so very much. I have finally achieved success! Now all I need to do is get those pictures uploaded!
Thanks a MILLION for your help!

Scrat,
it worked!!!!
only.. 1. it created catogories of the same name for some. 2. I have e.g. 'treats'
for cat. 1 for some items and cat 2 for others. when i go back to zc, it says invalid master id, and created 2 ids of 'treats' for me

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to make all my products "product is virtual" with easy populate. At the moment all my products are prompting the customer for a shipping address which I dont want.
-
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
lizar5- : Sorry in short the answer is no
If all your products are virtual then the easiest way would be to use a sql script.

Just telling if somebody finds this useful:
And 0 is a hidden product. I use for example when not wanting to delete but the product is longer time out of stock or I need to change the info but has no time exactly on that moment.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Sc0rian : EP has to have a product_id/model, other wise EP just does not work.
By the looks of it your file format is incorrect, you look to have a empty TAB to start with

As always if you have problems with EP start with a downloaded Complete File and work from there.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi
I'm very new to all this so please bear with me.
I installed Zencart and easypopulate yesterday and managed to get it to add a product or two okay.
I don't seem to be able to see the images though, is it supposed to upload the images at the same time?
If it is, what path name am I supposed to use and if not is there an addon within Zencart someone can recommend for me to do this.
Cheers

you put the image name in the excel file, and upload the image into the /images DIR using FTP.

Hey,
thanks for the reply
I downloaded the complete excel document, it downloads as a .txt file.
v_products_model v_products_image v_products_name_1 v_products_description_1 v_products_url_1 v_products_price v_products_priced_by_attribute v_products_weight v_products_sort_order v_date_avail v_date_added v_products_quantity v_manufacturers_name v_categories_name_1 v_categories_name_2 v_categories_name_3 v_categories_name_4 v_tax_class_title v_status EOREOR
those are the list of items i get. i'm missing product_id?
i tried adding in v_products_id as my very first list, still doesnt work.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Thanks - I really wanted my customer to be able to do it all through the control panel on Zencart. I take it that this is not an option.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Sc0rian : Your product_id column is 'v_products_model' column one in your file.
Post your Complete file as an example and we can have a look. ( To me it looks as I said previously you have a leading TAB
PHP Code:
| 496 | T4444I | T4444I.jpg | T4444I Imp | High-quali | | 9.59 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 0000-00-00 | 17 | | Hex Keys | Hex Sets | | | --none-- | 1 !Updated!
Where as it should be
PHP Code:
496 | T4444I | T4444I.jpg | T4444I Imp | High-quali | | 9.59 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 0000-00-00 | 17 | | Hex Keys | Hex Sets | | | --none-- | 1 !Updated!
bluedogatdingdong : No, other than coding it yourself in PHP for server side or coding it on our customers PC.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Just started a webshop and added some items manually, exported the list to get the right EP format.
I added the rest of the products and try to import this file.
Record format is correct but I get message "No products_id field in record. This line was not imported" and no products are imported.
record format starts with
"19-10pdu samples/19-8pdu.jpg 19-10pdu powerstrip....etc"
In this case 19-10pdu is a unique identifier connected with v_products_model
The manually added products do get updated whenever I import the file but no new items are added. Images are already downloaded to server.
I use Zencart version 1.3.8 and latest version of easypopulate.
Tried to import files with less columns but no success.
All help is welcome.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Sc0rian & gerhard59 : What version of EP are you using, please note this is the thread is for Version 1.2.5.4 and that is the version to use any other seems to be buggy (Excluding EPA of course which is a commercial version)

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi Scrat,
I am using version 1.2.5.4 that is what the zipfile is named.
Although readme talks about another version, not shure now if I use correct version.
Where can I re-download 1.2.5.4 and compare with my version?
-
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
