Admin --> Configuration --> Images --> what is the value for "Product Info - Number of Additional Images per Row"? Default is 3.

yea...its set at the default number 3. But ive only got the 3 images to load up for that product. Should this be a different number instead??

Both the hover image and no text are fixed. I had to change the CSS file as both my font and background were white... doh!

Has anybody tried to add more information to the hover? Like displaying the price? :cool:

I installed IH2 and it seems to work according to plan, except when I click on a product to view the detail, the included image does not get the watermark like the samll image and it's hover did.
Then when I click on the Large Image it pops up the large image, but also without the watermark.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
I have gone over the settings and told it to watermark all the images but it's not working for some reason.

The strange part is that in the IH2 admin preview it shows the watermark on the large image as well as the medium image for all formats. :frusty:

Hi there, I've read 100 or so pages of this thread and can't seem to fine the answer I need - I need help if someone can!

I'm trying to get the addtional images to load into the pop up on the product page (and be resized, so their source is the from the BMZ cache and not the original file).

This works on the image handler page in admin, where I have uploaded my additional images, yet on the product page it's still referring to the original file in the pop up (the main product picture works fine).

Can anyone help, please?!?

I'm surprised at the lack of response in this forum. This is supposed to be the IH 2 support forum yet I haven't seen a response to my question in a couple of days now. That is very unusual for the Zen-Cart support because there usually is response within hours, not days.

Looking at the time stamp of your post it has only been 13 hours not 2 days.
Another thing is all the support given here is by end users like you and me.
The creator of IH no longer supports IH and has not for some time now.
We end users take time from our busy day to try to help.

Have you check to make sure the watermark file is in the right folder and is named right for IH?

In order for watermarking to work for every image dimension the specific corresponding watermark images have to be present. That means, you have to upload files to the following specific locations:
--->images/watermark.png
--->images/medium/watermark_MED.png (or your specified MEDIUM_IMAGE_SUFFIX)
--->images/large/watermark_LRG.png (or your specified LARGE_IMAGE_SUFFIX)

If you done the above have you tried using a different file format?
(Instead of png, try gif)

You can try this.
Zen-Cart Admin --> Tools --> Image Handler 2 --> Admin --> click "Clear Image Cache". You can check to see if this fixes the problem.
If not repeat the above steps and the click on "Remove Image Handler Form database".
The page will reload and now you click on "Install Image Handler".
The 2 steps does not remove any images.

If this does not help please post a link.

A small image is included for quick start. If you don’t want the overlay to show but still want the effect, just delete the overlay image.

You can select the gravity just like you can with the watermark to configure where the overlay should go. In addition to that you can specify if you want the overlay to act as a hotzone. That means the popup only shows if you move your mouse exactly above the overlay image (hotzone). If it does not, the whole image is the hotzone.

Note: Zooming in on medium images is not implemented, yet.

My bad, the original post was yesterday and then again today, sorry.

I have the watermark files where they are supposed to be, just checked.
since the watermark files are in PNG format, do I have to select that format or the format of the files my originals are in which is JPG?

You can select either .png, .jpg, .gif or no_change for every image size type. Uploaded images are kept as they are, but the generated files feature the filetype you specify here. GIF is ok for small thumbnails and features some basic transparency. JPG doesn’t feature transparency but a very good file quality/compression ratio, especially for photographic images. This would be your desired filetype for large and possibly medium sized images. PNG files feature alpha transparency and as much colors as jpg but are generally larger in filesize than both jpg and gif. Well, what can I tell you. I have read the info included with the program and had originally setup the program as you suggest. It's not working! Any other suggestions?

Actually it is not my suggestion - I just quoted a part of the material on the IH2 site.

What version of ImageMagick is your server supporting. It is a long shot, but maybe the problem is with the server...

Also has Jund brought up a point. There has been reports of a version of ImageMagick breaking png files. There are posts in this thread about it I believe.

I looked through the server info page that is in ZC and could not see anything to do with ImageMagick.
But would that then not affect the entire IH program? The small images get the watermark no problem.

The original images are JPG. Should then the watermark be renamed to JPG also? They are still PNG the way they came and I've tried setting JPG, PNG or no_change in the program and the only image that gets the watermark is the small image.

The watermark image needs to be either in a gif or png format.
There is no setting in admin other then no/yes for watermarking.
Since you have watermark on the small image, you have it turned on.
What about the medium and large settings? Do you it set to "Yes" for watermarking?
What about watermark_MED image? Is it in the images/medium folder?
What the watermark_LRG image? image/large folder.
Also have you check the permissions both on the folder and image?
We know that the watermark.png small is fine so copy it the medium folder and rename to watermark_MED.png.

Thank you, I had checked these settings as per the installations instructions but could not get it to work "out of the box".
So on a whim, I opened the _MED and _LG watermark .PNG files and "Save for Web" as a GIF instead and uploaded to the appropriate folders on the server. I told IH2 to use the "no_change" format (not realizing this was referring to the watermark) and it worked. :clap:

I had a similar issue. The small image would watermark but the med and large would not.
The way I found that it started working for me was to change the .PNG watermark files, (_MED and _LRG) to .GIF and upload those to the appropriate folders. I opened up Photoshop, loaded the .PNG and then did a Safe for Web as a GIF for each of the two files.

Not sure why this fixed it since the small image is still using the original .PNG watermark file, but it works. :smile:

I have watermark small, medium and large set to "Yes"
I have the file type for small, medium and large set to "no_change"
I have watermark gravity to Center (default)

I have also found that since adding my first second image for a product as an inset using IH2, it now seems to add all the xxxinset.jpg files itself when I add the image xxx in inventory, gotta love that. (If you have a need for it that is.)

I just installed IH2 in a testbed, installed two images and seemed to work, changed the images and the small zoom stopped working. I checked the settings under the Config-Images small zoom is set to true. At the moment I have tracked it to the point where the get_additional_parameters function asks whether the $this->sizetype variable is set to small, it is not on any small image it is set to generic, on the medium and small images it shows correct as medium and large. Any one more familiar with this code know where I should be looking for this 'small' to be set?

EDIT: Disregard! I just noticed the IH2 plugin is listed for 1.3.5, so i'll assume the files are from there.

I've got the latest IH2 at the time of writing - 2.0 v0916

I'd like to know what version of ZC did the files that get overwritten come from (ie main_product_image.php, additional_images.php, header_php.php, etc.)?

I'd like to do a winmerge comparison of the IH mod compared to the original file, then apply those mods to the ZC 1.3.7.1 files.

Is this overkill? It seems like the best way to have IH2 and make sure all files are current.

Those who are haveing trouble with the hover images should try this replacement javascript.

I had enlarged the small image width and height but not the other ones lower on the images config (product listing, new product listing...). Because of this the image on the main screen was 80x80 but the small width and heights were set to 100, this made the image show as a 80x80 picture on the main screen, however, in the im2 code there is a statement matching the image dimensions to the small settings if they didn't match (image dim = small image dim) the $this->sizetype variable is set to 'generic'. since later in the code this variable is used to insert the popup code ($this->sizetype == 'small') the popup code didn't get inserted. Once I changed all of the other values to 100 the images was changed from 80x80 to 100x100 as I wanted and the popup code was inserted correctly. thus problem solved.

hope this help anyone having similar problems.

I just need to know how to call the_path_to_medium_png so I can have every product load its particular MED graphic for the rollover...

As far as I know if you add the three separate images through the IM2 Admin it should allow you to do this.

For some reason my file sizes go from 5kb to 100kb and my mediums go from 10kb to 1mb when I upload my own images. I'll start asking in the other forum how to modify the template. I think it wont be pretty but i'll have static code in my html_header.php and new_products, product_listing templates.

I have a working test version of my shop. When I install the latest version of IH2 (not the one from Tim's site) I cannot see additional images on the product page, but I can see them in the IH admin pages.

I have read this thread all day (literally) and followed every suggestion on how to get these additional images to show in the product page and none solve this problem.

I note that the product pages display with one error (using Firefox) for each additional image that should have been displayed. An example follows:

If it helps, the Firefox error console has a green arrow running underneath each error, which ends up pointing to the letter "i" of images following the showtrail command.

Having tried every other solution under the sun (and now moon) to solve this problem, I can only assume that this missing bracket might be the cause.

Any idea when the Medium Image Zooming will be implemented?

I'm having some problems with watermarking on IH2

I only plan to use watermark for large images, and have successfully done so for the IH2 images.. the 1st image can never seem to be watermarked.

If I sound confusing, do click here. As you can see, the black case is not watermarked. All other colours are watermarked.

I checked.. the first image is loaded from my server's image folder. the others from bmz_cache.. that should account for the failure to watermark

Any remedies for me? :)

It's OK, I've fixed the prob now, did a re-upload of image handler and it rectified it.

Another question however, which would a be a great help, anyone know how to name additional images so that the name appears on the product page (maybe under where it says 'Click to enlarge'?)

I have searched a fair bit and returned no results (that I can see) for my issue.

I installed IM2 for a client and when he adds an extra image for an item, it takes EVERY image on the entire server that begins with the same character and displays that.

Example, if the first character is a 2, ever single image on the server begining with a 2 gets put up as additional images. 1.gif, 2.jpg, 2-twice.jpg, 2456pn.png. 2why.gif.

Example items:

The hover is not working cause the needed file is missing.
(/jscript/jscript_imagehover.js)

How are the images named?
How are they being uploaded?
See this post on correct way to name images.

Have you tried from IM admin "Clear Image Cache" and what was the results? Are you still getting the wrong images?

The pic is from Admin or IH2.
When looking at an item in IH2 it shows EVER item with the same first character as being an additional image.

IH2 is being used for easily adding extra images to products.

Although you have given us examples of the names of the additional images being picked up, knowing the names of the product images for which this is happening may be a key part of solving this issue for you.

I have cleared cache.

Images are being uploaded from within IH2 admin, and uploaded into each product. Is there a simpler way?

There are roughly 6000 products to be added in, some with multiple images. All images have unique names, except if they are from the same product, then the names are similar (not the same but similar).

Example:
120579_5ct_4row.jpg
120579_5ct_4row02.jpg
120579_5ct_4row03.jpg

120986_hoodie_black.jpg
1black_tennisshoe_diva.jpg

IH2 thinks because all those names begin with the #1, they are all the same product, so it lists them all as additional images.

I will re-download all files for IH2 again tonight and re-upload everything. If I remove the install through the admin interface, will my client need to redo all the additional images, including the ones that are working?

Images from the same product will sometimes have different image names, but usually have similar names, with a different suffix, ie. left or right, or bottom or top.

Images from different products, have different names.

IH2 is picking up all images with the same foirst character.

Am I making sense? Early in the morning, so not sure if I have cleared my head yet.

Can we focus on one example - and for that example, can you give us

• the product id
• the product image name
• the names of the additional images that are being pulled in correctly and incorrectly

I am having a problem on my site. I have use the Image Handler to upload an image for a product and now when I go nto the product listing for that product or indeed access that product in the iamge handler the HTML output is stopped as soon as the site tries to do anything with the image.

This was discussed earlier this month. There are posts explaining the likely cause higher up in the thread dated around September 3rd.

It appears to be linked to trying to feed very large image files to the image libraries that Image Handler uses to process them.

Of course this doesn't hide the fact that there are 1,657 posts to go through ... err 1,658 ... but the search this thread menu option can make that more manageable - try searching "library".:wink:

I found that I had two problem images - but I have managed to fix both scenarios. Either or the other or both of the following helped fix this problems;

1. Reduce the actaul pixel size of the image file (my client had uploaded an image 2000 pixels wide)

2. Reduce the quality of the image to approx 80% - the client had used images at 99% quality.

Sorry for the trouble.

Now that I can log in via Admin I see what the issue is.

When I told him to ensure there were no spaces in names and to name them uniquely for each product, he did so. He named the pics 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg, etc.

I downloaded the image, renamed, deleted original, uploaded renamed one, and problem is fixed.

I will make sure I am more clear in how he should name his images.

Did you upload image_handler.php to /home/*******/public_html/admin/?
If it is there, delete and upload a fresh file.

You've missed uploading some files ... probably those in the /includes/functions/extra_functions and /admin/includes/functions/extra_functions folders.
Check to be sure they exist and are not 0-bytes in size.
Then check *all* the other files you uploaded for this mod to be sure they exist properly too.

I thought that was probably the case, but I have just checked all files *very slowly* and they are all ok, I uploaded every file again just to make sure but still no luck.

I'm using iC-Acadame_v1.2 template but that shouldn't really make a difference. Surely someone out there has had this problem?? Any more ideas, think I might need to start from scratch in case something random has been corrupted.

I've had Image Handler installed on my site for the last month. It's the latest version on Zen Cart 1.3.7 - It has worked perfectly till yesterday....now every new product that I load additional pictures into, when you try to use the mouse/hover feature they don't work. They still work on all my other products...just not the new ones!

I've tried re-installing the module, re-installing the database and clearing the BMZ cache file both in the admin and manually.

If it helps, the Firefox error console has a green arrow running underneath each error, which ends up pointing to the letter "i" of images following the showtrail command.

And it looks like the images are not named correctly.
Some images are handled by IH and some are handled by ZenCart.
Should be something like this.
modEfergy.jpg <--- main product image
modEfergy_01.jpg <--- additional image
modEfergy_02.jpg <--- additional image
modEfergy_04.jpg <--- additional image

I just re-downloaded everything again, and there is nowhere in the entire folder any javascripts or javascripts folder. Only images and PHP files.

Where do I find this, and why is it not included in the download?

Should be in includes\templates\template_default\jscript

I have other products that have no spaces in the names and the same thing happens.

I believe the naming is correct - when I disable IH2, the pictures display correctly. The live version of the site is at www.mygreenerhome.co.uk and you can see there (where IH2 is not yet installed) that the images display fine. But I do appreciate that in the error console message there is a mix of my naming and that of IH2.

All the images so far have been uploaded using ftp and then added to the products using the admin/products menu system.

As for the //, I saw that but I have no idea why it is there. I have not modified any code and cannot explain why IH2 should pop 2 slashes in there. I think that it only occurs with images that have names in them.

I note from my IH2 download file that the files are timestamped 1 May 2006 at 3.46 pm. Does anyone know if this is the latest version?

I was thinking, why not to aply Fancy image hover functionality with the big picture to the images from product info like the image hover from product listing? Anyone has tried that?

I seem to have problems posting different images to similar products. Here's the problem:

I sell shirts on my site and have different categories for men's and womens, as well as others. All the designs are the same, but since I don't offer all my designs in each style, I decided to categorize the site that way.

So, I usually upload a new design as a regualr men's shirt. This includes the main image and a model shot for the product page "gallery". I then copy that product (not link it) to the women's category, change all the information (sizes, price, etc), then delete the model shot. However, deleting the model shot deletes it on the men's shirt product as well. And, when I upload a girl's shirt model pic, it updates the men's shirt with that same image.

Again, I am NOT linking the product, they are two separate products...I just use the men's to copy to the other ones.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

hi there, I am running a ZC 1.3.7.1 zen cart
And I was adding a product and product images the other day and all of a sudden all the images on my main site disappeared w/o a trace.
it seems that there is a double slash in the code calling the main image and the voids the rest of the JS. when I turn the IH off the images display fine. where should I be looking? to fix this.

For some reason, my images are copying to other products in the same category, it doesnt matter how many times i go over them.. they are always mismatched and incorrect. Is this a normal problem for lots of people?

Give us a link to your website so we can see what you are talking about.

The big thing to watch for is your file naming convention.
image_1.jpg
and
image_1_abc.JPG

will display under the same item.

Make sure that you give different names styles to each items image

image_1.jpg
and
image_2.jpg
etc.

I have looked everywhere, but i didn't find how the link name of the large image is generated. I have $products_image_large, $products_name but i need the large image generated by ih2 with watermark on it.

I've looked and searched all through the docs and can't find answers to these two questions. I have IH2 installed and everything works fine. My issues are these:

I have small zoom on and it works fine(image pop up on small image rollover) in firefox but in internet explorer the rollover images do not come up if the rollover image box is going to be off the browser screen. I know someone in the thread brought his error up a long time ago but i couldn't find a response or fix to it and am just wondering if there is one and where it is.


My second issue is that i want the small image rollover zoom to work on the product page where the small images are the additional image thumb nails but i do not want to the zoom to come up on the home page where Featured Products use the small images or the Category pages which display the small images. Any one know how to accomplish this?

After long time spending on searching on codes, i finaly found how to generate the large image links with ih2:

Hi all, this is a VERY long thread, I must ask to be forgiven if I missed this - but does anyone else have a problem in the admin side, where you have trouble overwriting the main image?

Basically the problem is this:

A product has 1 main pic, and 2 additional views, if I delete the main pic, the other views disappear. If I re-upload the same main pic, the other views re-appear.

A product has 1 main pic and 2 additional views, if I edit the main pic by uploading a new pic, the additional images disappear from admin and the site.

So it seems I'm stuck, if I want to change the main pic, the additoinal views have to be deleted too?

Seems to me that this is counter-productive, as sometimes the client wants to change hte main pic without touching the additional views. Any workarounds / others have had this same problem?

Are you replacing the main pic with a different image with the same name, or are you changing the name? If you are changing the name, you would need to also change the names of the additional images so that they remain associated with the base name to which you have changed the main product image.

Hi Kuroi - thanks for the note - I've done some more reading into this, mostly from this thread, and that each set of additional images for a product is tied to the main pic's filename. I've figured out that if you upload a pic of the same filename, it will not delete the additional pics.

So, a sub-question for you - since you brought it up, is how am I supposed to access the additional pics IF I do change the main pic's filename? In other words, I'm uploading a new main pic with a different filename, then how am I supposed to edit the additional pics to match up with the new filename if they are gone from IH2? Unless you are talking about going to the raw JPG files and editing it there through FTP, which my clients can't do.

The additional images aren't deleted - they're just no longer found as the base filename no longer matches how they start. The only way to see them again if to edit the actual filenames. Or upload new files that follow your new naming convention.

I know that my problem has been hashed over and over but after much searching I am unable to find a "fix" for my problem. I have IH2 installed. My host has PHP compiled with GD2 libraries. I read a post saying that IH2 should work right out of the box but that is not the case with me. Here is some info...

have tried the naming convention with xxx_MED.xxx in the main image directory and the "medium" directories... still doesn't work.

I would appreciate any help that anyone could give. So far, I am on my 3rd day trying to find an answer. Think I have read enough to qualify for posting a help message... lol

And I suspect that you solution will be to move your /includes/templates/template_default/jscript/jscript_imagehover.js file to your /includes/templates/classic/jscript folder.

However, the site has many, many other problems. when I submitted it for validation it came back with 327 errors, and Firefox crashed most of the times I tried to view your site.

I did a "validate" on the local HTML and I got the 327 errors also. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I use Firefox too (version 2) and have not had any problems with "crashing"... and yes I am having problems with the Zoom functionality for IH2. Do you know how I can see where them 327 errors are in my site?

I found a solution for the "zoom" image. I had to put the two files (style_imagehover.js and jscript_imagehover) into the /include/templates/classic/css folder and the zoom is working great now.

I now have another question though... Is it possible to have the larger (zoom image) come up by hovering anywhere on the picture instead of just the "+" (plus sign) on the image?

I just now got mine to work by copying style_imagehover.css & jscript_imagehover.css to the /include/templates/YOUR_DIR/css directory. This might work for you. Everything started working fine when I did this

Actually many many zen sites have validate errors !!!! lol, check a few, and also your site doesnt show any larger images, you need to increase the sises in Zen's admin for med/large so that the hover will pop up a bigger image

Thanks for the info on the validate errors. I don't think I have touched enough files to get that many errors lol... unless there is a cascade effect once an error comes up. You know when you validate the html... you are given the line number and the column number of the error... what I don't see is the file name????... Do you know how I can get the filename so I can look at some of these errors?

And thanks for the image info... I will change that when I get up in the morning. It's 3:00am here and I'm about dead...

This is true. But these user-introduced errors (base Zen Cart is valid code) still cause browser and accessibility issues and should be fixed. It's also often much harder to find the cause of serious structural errors if they're hidden in a ton of invalid code.

Now however, whenever I upload a new image wth IH2 enabled, the page containing that new image is blank, and he admin page for that item is also blank in IH2 admin.

If i disable IH2 then everything works ok in terms of the page displaying but without the IH functionality of course.

All previous images and products uploaded with IH2 work absolutely fine with IH2 enabled but Im in a situation now where I cant upload anything new without the pages not displaying

Hmm might have found something with the image size, reduced to 800 x 600 for example now works, was uploading over 2000 x XXX size and that wasnt working but smaller size jpeg does work.

I would like to know why hoverbox2 does not work with the images for Document Products or Document General.
Is it too sofisticated to handle images for documents or is it me that cannot get it to work? Does IH2 interfere with it?
Hoverbox 2, works fine with Product General it just does not work with Document Product and Document General for the large image.

I want to use this site mostly for Document General but I do not want to disable the cart completely from Product Type General.
To achieve both features in the shop I will disable cart features in Product Type Document Product but I would like the images to come up with Hoverbox.

WOW! What a can of worms this is!! In my limited experience of ZC I have discovered that many mods have validation errors. I thinbk it is a 'bit rich' to expect each user to have to pull apart these third-party mods so that they can correct the inherent errors! In many cases this would not only be time-consuming, but also beyond their expertise.

I hgave previously mooted the idea that third party mods must not be allowed to feature in the Downloads area until they can demonstrate that they produce valid code when installed to a fresh ZC, but I am told (by Dr Byte) that this is not practicable, and that most third party mods would fail?

As a matter of interest Kuroi, and no criticism intended, do your mods validate? How about starting a campaign or organisation for 'Validated Mods' with a verification system?
