With much anticipation I am watching my Google Webmaster Tools to see how the switch to SSEO affects how google sees my site and how it will handle the new url's.
5 days after installing SSEO, Google Tools lists a few issues.
Content analysis lists duplicate title tags and duplicate meta tags. Looking a bit more closely, I notice that some of the duplicates are caused by the old zen url's and now the new SSEO links are considered duplicates.
Example:
/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=113/star-lamps/mexican-star-light-with-flower-pierced-design-in-bronze-13-p-113
I hope this will go away after a while. Current listings in Google search results are redirecting correctly to the new url's. One thing seems still strange to me. If I am on my site and paste the old url in the browser, I get an error message saying:
ALERT:
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting this request in a manner that will never complete.
Redirect from links on other sites or search results works fine. I just wonder why this is.
All other duplicates are Zen Cart typical New Listing and All listing pages where there is page after page with the same meta tags.
Other than the listed problem, all seems fine and already some of the SSEO url start popping up in search results. I noticed a higher crawl rate the last few days as the search spiders seem to play catch up with the new url's.
You can not have links like this:
/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=113/star-lamps/mexican-star-light-with-flower-pierced-design-in-bronze-13-p-113
An example of old link redirection:
http://demo.rubikintegration.com/zen...roducts_id=111
It is never generated in the first place. How did you get it?
Assuming we are talking about your first site: 1. Old link redirected correctly http://www.mydanilo.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=113 2.Old link with wrong cPath redirected correctly http://www.mydanilo.com/index.php?ma...products_id=44
OK here are the links I am talking about:
All are for mydanilo.com
/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=113
new
/star-lamps/mexican-star-light-with-flower-pierced-design-in-bronze-13-p-113
paste the first link in your browser and see the Alert.
and you are right, redirect works fine if you click the link you put up in your last post. The problem is if you paste the link in your url box in your browser. See then what happens. Don't get it that clicking a link works but typing the old url does not?
Don't know if anybody would ever do this but seems strange...
The reason is simple: You may not see it, but when you copy and paste such link into the browser, there is a very special character (probably the line break character) included, Try to copy the link you posted to notepad and you will see a very weird square character in it (since notepad can't understand it) So when you append that to your browser, and that link is passed to SSU, it actually sees something very weird and trying to redirect (and fail). In reality, spiders and customers following old links never encounter such problem. (you mentioned that google has no problem going to the new ones from the old links) Anyhow, I will see if I can address this by trying to take out all these weird characters.
SSU uses 301 redirect, so the search engines should realize soon that the old links are now moved permanently.Quote:

I dont think this has anything to do with SSU?:)Quote:

Thank you for taking the time to explain. Makes sense.
Hi! I have given a try to Ultimate Seo URl which I have downloaded from the free add-ons section. But since my store is Russian, the URLs came out with question marks. Obviously it just took the names of my products in Russian. How do I solve the problem? Could anyone give me an idea?
