when I click the view image it does not show it in the bmz cache folder location which it should so IH3 is not handling your images like it should. Make sure the permissions for that folder are set to 755. delete all folders that are in there and see if that helps
it appears to be a paid for template and that is becasue I don't think any that are from here have the magnifying glass on the product page image. Lightbox seems to be working too so what template are you using and is it paid for?
you may need to contact them to see what coding they changed from the original smf files to make the changes to their template.
The template is one we bought from template monster. I had to set the permissions of the bmz_cache to 777 to get it to work properly. It still looks bad because the site owner has some pretty tiny medium images and it sometimes looks silly.
I think that now that IH3 is installed, I am going to recommend that they just delete all images and start over and only upload the large ones and let IH3 handle the rest. IH3 doesn't seem to handle the old images well.
Also, you said you clcked on view image and it didn't appear to be in the view image cache.. I suspect that is because you were viewing it while i was in the process of restoring the site from a backup and starting over.
Currently everything seems to be working except the ability for IH3 to handle previous images so killing all images and staring over seems to be the solution.

The third site, it does not work AT ALL!. No resizing at all. The thumbnail size is suppose to be 190x191 yet in some cases we have really huge thumbnails.
Here is a page where this can be seen.

DarkAngel is right.. and it wasn't the magnifying glass that was my hint (this is something that could be implemented without a paid template) Found this in your site source which tells me everything I need to know..

TM is NOTORIOUS for their poorly coded templates which use methods which eliminates/obliterates/obfuscates required Zen Cart code to support their pretty little designs.. 100% of the time what they have done could have been done the right way without the slash and burn methods they usually implement.. The fact that IH3 works for 2 out of 3 of your sites tells me your TM template is the culprit..
The MOST likely issue you are having is that one of the core Zen Cart files modified by IH3 has ALSO been modified in some way by your TM template and the TM change has eliminated/obliterated/obfuscated required code IH3 needs to work. Looks like your TM template includes it's own lightbox (something called "Darkbox" vs the ZLB or Fual Slimbox available in the free downloads). If you are lucky it's just a matter of making the right merges to get IH3 to work.

I carefully checked the files in the 2_Required_Core_Edits directory with winmerge. There were only two files that conflicted.
I think everything is working perfectly now except the handling of pre-existing images. I have created and uploaded a few test products and they all work perfectly. It is only the pre-existing images and I must say, the site owner did a terrible job of maintaining their images so, wiping them out and starting over isn't such a bad idea.. Now with IH3, they have no excuse for poor image management

But this is EXACTLY what is suggested/recommmended in the IH3 readme.. IH3 does NOT enlarge images..
If the old images uploaded are NOT the largest image, then this is EXACTLY why you would be getting the result you describe.. To get the properly generated small and medium images, you must upload the largest image and let IH3 generate the small and medium images..

I am disappointed to hear that about Template Monster. I thought I had finally found a great source for templates. Can you recommend a decent source for templates?

unfortunately you never know what the others do to the code source to make things do it their way. They do it for cosmetic and with the assumption that we end users just want a bare store...lol
not me I am always doing something to my store and sometimes kill it in the process...but as for templates...
I only get them from here in the downloads area and then just change colors/graphics and placement of some things to make sure the mods work with the software like it had ought to...sometimes.

The first link is a list of free zen cart templates which have been reviewed and approved by the ZC team. The second link is a link to the demo site where you can see what that list of downloadable templates look like.
Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
There is an old thread on TM templates that is very telling (including the TM admins/owners/reps who disappeared from the discussion when challenged to create Zen Cart templates that didn't required slash and burn code). Suggest you read up on Template Monster's history with Zen Cart (it ain't pretty)
If I may interject, hookah has been provided some excellent suggestions/options.. Please let's move any more specific template discussions to another thread..

Re: Image Handler 3 Support Thread
Hello,
I can't find the feature that I can change the original image background to match webiste color.
You described:
Choose an image background color matching to match you site's color or select a transparent background for your images.
Please advise. Thanks!
