Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi,
Please can someone explain to me how I can use IH2 to mass upload images and additional images (if this is possible).
I could easily FTP the images but the problem is with the additional images, my supplier uses different filenames for additional images (example: ImageA.jpg for main image and ImageB.jpg for additional image). It is my understanding that for IH to recognise it as an additional image it has to be ImageA_01.jpg?
If I could upload all images with IH2, would it automatically rename the additional images (ImageA_01.jpg etc...) and if so how would I go about doing that?
Any help to clear this up would be much appreciated
Thanks
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
No it won't automatically perform the re-naming for you. In fact, unless they are correctly named, neither Zen Cart nor Image Handler will even recognize them as additional images for productA.
A slight refinement on the naming needed. The additional images simply need to start productA, i.e. have the same stem as the product image. You can put anything afterwards. The "_01" etc. usually suggested is merely good practise.
However, in summary, you will need to re-name the files before you upload them.

Thanks for clearing that up for me kuroi.
Can IH2 only add images 1 at a time or can images be mass uploaded?

IH "Does" auto rename additional images based on the product main image when using the IH Admin!
Admin-->Tools--> Image Handler 2--> Manager
Select product from drop box
Select product you want to add image(s) too.
Using the "Default Image File" box, browse to the image(s) you want add, select and save. IH will auto rename the files to the correct naming format.
So if the product main image is named RedShoe.jpg and your adding additional images called sideview.jpg, rearview.jpg IH will rename these images RedShoe_01.jpg, RedShoe_02.jpg

You can always try it using what I outline in the above post.
I never have tried it as I only add 1 additional image 99% of the time to the product.
Let us know if it works for you.

Thanks you & best regards,
Admin-->Tools--> Image Handler 2-->Admin and click on the link "Clear Image Cache".
IH will recreate the files when needed.
I do this every 2 weeks or so and before I make backups.

It appears that I have given you a partial answer.
Tophand and I appear to use IH in completely different ways, so you have to put our experiences together to get the full and correct answer
:rotflmao:
Sounds like tophand always uploads images one at a time via the IH admin and it auto-renames the additional images as it knows to which product and product image they are related.
I always prepare my images locally, often using Photoshop batch actions on whole directories and then FTP the whole lot in one go, and have to rely on correct naming to allow Zen Cart and IH to make the connections. (My product details including the product_image are also uploaded in bulk by Easy Populate).
Apologies for any confusion.

I do it both ways depending what is needed at the time.
I alway prepare my images before hand and if I'm adding new products I FTP everything. But some times I'm only adding 1 product or updating a product I end up using IH to upload.
Do what I do, play around. Just be sure to backup first!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Thanks for the advice guys, you've answered my question. I'll rename the images locally and ftp them unless it's only a few then I can use IH admin.
Thanks
