Requires login to view product page

Hi everyone, I've been scowling the forums for days (found a lot of interesting info along the way I might add! But not what I was looking for). Also been wondering where to post this ... and I've decided to put it here & see what happens.

I did post a few days ago in the Template site, but it appears to be not supported.

OK here goes, I loaded a new template: WP Black and Purple. All is good except I would like it to be required to login to browse. So

When changing Store settings in Admin to:

Customer Shop Status - View Shop and Prices
Customer must be approved to shop

1= Must login to browse

all appears peachy until I head to my website ... and I get a white screen.

So I change the setting back to not required .. and my website is back again.

I tried to leave it at no login required, and changed the next option:

Customer Approval Status - Authorization Pending
Customer must be Authorized to shop
1= Must be Authorized to Browse

... same thing .. white screen.

This is my second zencart site and its for use by my consultants only, so I dont want the public to access it. They must login & be authorised.

On my public site which uses a different template, I tried changing the settings as I did above, and it works fine, so it must be a problem with this Template. Perhaps it is a dud, which would be a massive shame as I really like it for my site. I am hoping it will just involve a small tweaking.

Any assistance from those with greater knowledge than I will be greatfuly received!

Switch to the classic template and see what happens
