I don't know if I learnt a lazy way of copying databases, but that article saved my sanity a couple of days ago trying to copy from GoDaddy to another server. I've done countless transfers before and never had a problem, as soon as GoDaddy get involved the whole thing goes to cack

Follow the article to the letter (slowly and step by step) and you will have no problems is my guess

Don't save the back up file as a zip file. Save it as xxxxxxxx.sql

Evidently GoDaddy doesn't like it when you upload zipped files. So, don't.

I'm soooooooooooooooo trying hard not to swear here as I'm currently transferring three Zen Carts FROM GoDaddy for somebody.

Evidently GoDaddy don't like ######## that their customers do from what I have seen!!!!!!!!

Oh, one more thing to the OP, before he/she wastes his/her time in doing this, most likely your email address won't work and most likely email confirmations of new users, confirmation of orders etc etc won't get sent.

I did find a work around for one site, but it didn't work for all

I'd spend your time finding new hosting and have a couple of days break. Send me a PM and I can recommend who I use, or there's one link above from Dr Byte to Zen Cart hosted stuff. Damm, I'm even tempted to offer to install it all for you but I don't know if that's allowed practice on here :lamo:

long story short..

bluehost is easier to navigate then godaddy

I went ahead with bluehost, I have godaddy pointing to bluehost right now, and I have to wait 60 days for domain transfer :(

Do you have all your log in details for registrar etc etc? ie where you bought the domain?

If you have all that, give me the FTP details, control panel etc I'll effing transfer this myself to my server and give you hosting for a while til you get it sorted.

I got the hosting set up, I have set up the mysql in bluehost and have transfered all the files yet i'm stuck here and have no idea while...

Did you or they change the DNS?

Most say up to 24 hours, other like GoDaddy say 72hours.... in reality it's often only 3... though it then has to propgate across the rest of the world
