Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
I got a message from google telling me my files had all been uplaoded successfully (which is odd, because the Google Base site tells me they have all failed!). They also added this to the email:
"Using Froogle attributes: We noticed that your bulk upload is using attribute names specified in the Froogle product feed format. We highly recommend that you use the attributes specific to the Google Base bulk upload format in your next bulk upload, as including information for these attributes will help users find your items. For more information about the Google Base bulk upload format and a complete list of attributes, please see the following link:
http://base.google.co.uk/base/tab_instructions.html "
My other site is marked as disapproved, but when you click on it , it says success. Also the number of products bears no resemblance to what I have on that site. All in all a complete balls-up!
I had really given up with Google Bse in the past because of all these problems, and decided to concentrate on Froogle. Now I've been thrown back in the nest of vipers. Ho-hum.
Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Oh dear, this is a shame. I was getting good business via Froogle. Why did they have to mess with it?
Are we all using the Froogle Feed generator in Easy Populate 1.2.5.4?
Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
To be sure you're seeing all you product that is uploaded make sure you do the following:
To turn off SafeSearch in order to see adult products, click on
"Preferences" next to the search box on the Froogle homepage,
http://froogle.google.com. Once you select your preferred level of
restriction, Froogle will save your preferences.
Make sure you have cookies enabled on your browser or the preferences
won't be saved.
I know I said adult but it's kinda funny how Google decided what to know show you until you change your preference. I noticed I wasn't seeing all the products Google claimed successfully uploaded. It turned out that Google was hiding some on our Adult Christian T-shirts. Funny that Google sensored a Christian T-Shirt as adult content.:shocking:
Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Hi,
The error I receive is:
25 An invalid encoding was specified for the bulk upload file - help
An unusal chain mail frame bag with chain shoulder strap which can be hidden to create a clutch bag. Availiable now only in white -this seasons new black!!
Clicking on the help link shows the following:
Your bulk upload contains an invalid UTF-8 character. If you are using Notepad to save your file, please select "Save As" and then select "ANSI" or "UTF-8" in the "Encoding" options.
there are 240 items in my feed of which only 68 succeed. The feed worked fine whilst it was Froogle.
HTH with the troubleshooting :)

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Do you see the square box in this text, "-this seasons new black!!"?
Whatever that character is you must remove it in your upload file.
Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Yes I have done and it's working ok now:) I was only posting the errors as Woodymon wanted an example.
Unfortunately this means downloading the feed every time, opening it and removing the cahracters before submitting. Previously I simple ran froogle.php, it created a new file and automatically uploaded it to the froogle server. I'm hoping that posting the error may give someone a clue as to what to change in the contrib to allow it to work as before.
Cheers,

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Well I tried uploaded the Froogle file from froogle mod, and I uploaded it FTP. Well see if it works. There is a limit as to how many megabtyes you can upload now. What a pain in the Bu**!
