Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
How loosely the term is being used, depends on where your client is located. In some countries, I believe that the US is one of them, these conditions have been absorbed into the relevant statutes, either explicitly or as an external standard which is expected to be met. In countries where this has not been absorbed, they are passed down through merchant terms and conditions. But as the card processors operate globally, this is a global push, so though one strategy or another, they will cover your client.
However this a support thread for the module. If further discussion of the legalities of card companies code is needed, I recommend starting a new thread.

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
I installed CEON 2.2.2 and it appears, in the Payment Module area, to be installed correctly. Blowfish is an issue, but I've got my host's tech guy on that and hope to have it resolved soon.
The problem I'd love some help on is getting rid of the warning message on my catalog page. Whether I just disable the "Store Sensitive Card Details" and the Blowfish encryption, or totally uninstall CEON as a payment option in the Payment Module area the following warning message remains:
*****
Warning CEON MANUAL CARD: You have “Store entered details temporarily in session” and “Use Blowfish Encryption” enabled but your PHP installation does NOT have access to PEAR:Crypt_Blowfish on your server!
Either consult the documentation (especially the FAQs) to see how to get Blowfish encryption working on your server, change “Store entered details temporarily in session” to “No”, or disable Blowfish encryption.
It is not recommended to disable Blowfish encryption if there's a chance someone can see the contents of the “sessions” folder on your server (which may be possible if you are on a shared server) - this is left up to your own descretion.
The current values for the various settings on your server follow. These are, without a doubt, the values currently set for these settings, available to your catalog, no matter what the admin, your control panel or phpinfo() etc. may say!
Info to help enable Blowfish support...
It would appear that the PEAR:Crypt_Blowfish package is not on your include path. Please check that Crypt_Blowfish is installed in your PEAR library.
Alternatively, your server may have more than one PEAR installation and the PEAR:Crypt_Blowfish package may not have been installed in the “correct” PEAR library folder - please check that you are using the correct PEAR library if you have more than one on your server.
Current Include Path: .:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php

Thanks for any help you can give!

Yes. As in, I'm not a lawyer so I don't know if it's technically the right term. It is most definitely in breach of the terms and conditions and the merchant is prosecutable if anyone's card details gets into anyone else's hands. For all intents and purposes, in my mind that makes it an illegal activity. Whether it is actually illegal in strict legal terms is a moot point to me (I don't care much about such things ;) ).
I can tell you that I'm sorry to say that I know a very nice Zen Cart owner who has just been fined £10,000 as they had a breach and the card details being intercepted is their responsibility. Awful news to receive!

He is simply lazy. If he wants to risk a £10,000 or higher fine then I'd say he's also silly. Each onto their own though, it's a free world! ;)
If it matters to him that much he should pay for a payment gateway, I'm sure you can get one which costs around $30 a month. So it's a case of "what price saving that 'pain'"? :)

With the rather useless (in my opinion) PCI compliance that is either now or soon to be part of every merchant's terms and conditions, there are very strict rules which *anyone* accepting Visa or Mastercard must abide to. Visa and Mastercard are the main companies responsible for these new requirements. I think they're completely impractical, idealistic nonsense but we'll all have to abide by them anyway. :(

The merchant is directly liable so it starts off with a fine. I have no idea if it's ever progressed to a jail sentence.

I'm afraid that in my experience the FEC module isn't the best written module and can cause all sorts of problems (mostly to do with the session in my own experience).
I'm afraid that we don't provide free support for getting our software working with other peoples' modules when the other modules are the cause of a problem. Maybe someone else can help you if you post your problem on the FEC module's thread.

Have you followed the instructions and created the database table?
If so, that file missing would be the or your database settings in configure.php being wrong would be the ONLY reasons that you'd get that message.

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
I just installed zencart 1.3.9f and looking at this module. I read the installation instructions and mentions that file edits do not apply to 1.3.5+
Does this mean I just copy the files in the admin and includes folders into my zencart installation in their proper locations?
Then after I do that just configure it in the admin section?

This means that since you are using a version of Zen Cart which is 1.3.5 or later - 1.3.9 is - that you don't need to edit those files, the "edits" are already in the files for Zen Cart 1.3.5 and above.
Just follow all the rest of the instructions exactly and you'll be fine.

Suggested enhancement
Hi, Conor,
Ceon Manual Card currently records with the order information the first and last 4 digits of the credit/debit card plus its expiry date.
After you have charged the card, you normally delete the email with the middle digits of the card number. You have a hard copy of the card details on the merchant copy of the credit card slip which you would deal with in the same way as for customer present transactions.
So there's actually no reason to retain any card information against the order.
I was wondering how easy it would be, as an additional security measure, to create a utility which, when run, went through the database removing all card information from completed orders.
Regards
Nick

That's how you use the software, not how most other people use it.
Most people don't have any other copy, they use online terminals, copying and pasting the data in.

It will provide no extra security on a practical level.
A lot of stores like to have the last 4 digits on the order page so they can match orders up with things if they do print the order out. Not something we've ever needed either, but at Ceon we right software that suits everyone as much as possible, not just individual businesses.
If you do want to purge the database of the card information, simply "Empty" the Ceon Manual Card database table. (SQL: TRUNCATE ceon_manual_card). Obviously all data will be lost forever if you don't have a backup.

I did this and verified that the table was empty. However, when I view orders the card information is still shown.

Of course, sorry, that will only clear the start date and issue number. To clear the remaining data you must empty the CC fields of your orders table.
Code:
UPDATE orders SET cc_type = NULL, cc_owner = NULL, cc_number = NULL, cc_expires = NULL;
Honestly I don't see the point of what you are doing really as no-one can use the first and last four digits of a card but each unto his own! :)

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
Hi Conor,
I had previously installed CEON 2.0 for my client. It worked fine, except my client didn't want to collect the CCV code. I saw that 2.2 had the option to turn it off, so I went about upgrading it.
Unfortunately, when I uploaded the files (3 different attempts now), it causes all screens to go completely blank. The cache file which would normally show errors is empty. The other "public" debugger is also not displaying any information. Client is running 1.3.9.f. His site is at http://shopinhisimage.com.
I will leave the site down for a few hours if you or anybody else has a minute to look at this, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!
Christopher

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
I should also add, I can access the client's admin with no problem, as well as configure the CEON mod, its just the main site which cannot be accessed.
Thanks,

First check that you've uploaded the files properly by attempting the upload with different FTP software (you'd be surprised how many people have problems with their FTP software even after multiple upload attempts).
Also check if the path to your admin folder is set correctly for the DIR_FS_ADMIN define in
admin/includes/configure.php
(Obviously if you've changed the name of the admin folder to something other than "admin" the path to that file and to the folder will both be different)!
If you're still having trouble send me FTP and admin details at this address and I'll take a quick look.

You have changed the name of your zen cart's folder but didn't change the path to Zen cart in includes/configure.php
I'm not remotely surprised your site broke! :)
You had
PHP Code:
define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/wilson/public_html/store/');
I've changed that to

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/wilson/public_html/zencart/');
Things are now working as expected.

Really, the instructions are very specific. They say to copy only the files from within the "files" folder (not the files folder itself or any folder outside of that).
I appreciate though that English may not be your first language and that you may therefore find it a little harder to follow.
You should delete all the files you copied across and start again, this time only copying the files from inside the "files" folder.

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
@nickgreaves
I think PCI compliance is driving some people to paranoia on the issue. That and some unscrupulous firms that refuse to remove false positives and blame it on the fact that partial numbers are in the database of a site. In my opinion they are getting a kick back on the $19.95 to $21.95 fees charged to "non-compliant" merchants.
As Conor stated, his method is designed for a wide range of businesses and shipping/processing methods. Even with the first and last four numbers, a hacker would need to process nearly 17 million combinations in order to find the "correct" number. If the CVV is not stored (as it should not be), then the permutations rise to over 150 million.
True, the speed of computers could run 150 million processes in a short period of time, but where could the hacker actually find a site that would cross reference 150 million combinations with a specific name. It far too easy to get the information from a waiter or mall worker with a scanner built in to a cell phone. The new smart chips can be collected simply by someone getting near you in a crowd while having a receiver in a purse or briefcase.
The combination of Conor's mod with the removal of all CVV codes in an up to date Zen Cart should never be rated as a failure for PCI compliance. There are other factors (frontpage and others) that may be on the same server as Zen Cart and possibly cause a PCI failure.
So, using this mod on a PCI certified host with a current Zen Cart will pass all the tests. If not, the testing company should be challenged. We have fought the battle many times and (in one case) actually had the customer change their cc merchant. The customer even saved money on fees in the process.

Thanks for a very interesting post. Can I also join dbltoe here in saying to beware of unscrupulous companies.. especially those trying to freak companies out about their security setup..
If a compliance company comes to you (cold calls/emails) "warning" you about compliance matters and suggesting their services, be just as worried about their honesty as that of the people who try to steal card details in the first place.
Most of the compliance companies appear to put their profits leagues ahead of their commitment to honesty or to providing a fair level of value to their customers. It's frustratingly hard to know which ones are genuine, and good value for money, and which are only in it to make a quick buck off "compliance tests"!
Reminds me a lot of the SEO companies who get in contact to offer to "increase your rankings... for a rather large fee"! :|

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
How to add more than one email address for "extra card information" to be sent to. There will be 3 different people within the company responsible for this. IIRC the original zencart allowed this, yes? Not sure I would use this, but it would present one more possible option for avoiding one manager deleting an email before another manager got it.

What happens if all three managers charge the card?
This is a BAD idea.. instead you should change your company's operating procedures to using a SHARED address for something as important as card details.
If you really want it sent to three addresses though, I think you can do that by adding the addresses (email part only., no names or <>), separated by commas.
Seriously, don't even consider that though, if you have any sense!

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
Each manager is responsible for a specific and distinct line of product and won't have anything to do with the others, with the exception of vacation coverage etc.
The shared address is my first consideration. I usually set up their email clients as IMAP, so was concerned that one would delete before another got it, but I suppose I could use pop3 instead.
I tried using commas to separate addresses but it failed with a message - "The Ceon Manual Card payment module has been enabled but it has not been configured to send the necessary card information to the store owner by e-mail. The E-mail Address to send card information to must be set in Admin->Modules->Payment->Ceon Manual Card." I also tried with a comma and space, and the names and <> with the same result. That's why I'm asking about it here.
With a single address the mod works great. Oh and by the way, thanks for creating and supporting it!
What would be ideal is if an address could be set for specific products or groups of products. Yeah, I know it would be better if we didn't have to rely on manual card processing, but that's just not the case here.
-
Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
I agree with Conor that this is not a good setup. If you have enough busy to warrant three product managers, why waste their time processing credit card transactions when for an investment of $20-30 a month this could be automated by using a integrated payment method.
If you really, really have to process them manually and have multiple people doing so, then use one imap account that doesn't belong to any of them and have them all dip into to take their transactions.
If you really, really need them each to receive all the emails, whether they're applicable to them or not, then create one emails account and use email forwarders on that.

Maybe that's the policy to implement.. if it's there it's not dealt with. Once it's dealt with, move it into a "dealt with" folder (rather than simply deleting).
That's the way I'd rather work any such shared system.

Ah, I forgot about that.. that's a security check I put in. It can be removed and then any number of addresses can be used. You are the first ever person to request that though and for the reasons I've mentioned above, I still recommend not using several addresses. (Nevermind the security implications of having 3 e-mails sent rather than one, more chance of it being intercepted, although that's really more of a theoretical concern than a practical one).
If you really want this though let me know and I'll take a look at how you should tweak the code for the module to allow this.

What happens if there are a mix of products in the cart from two of these "assigned groups"?
If you can come up with a set set of cases for when particular addresses should be used then I'm sure it would be easy to code the changes. Unfortunately it would be custom work though, not covered by the free support here.
I still think the shared address and move to folder idea is the best way though, it effectively acts like a group "to do list".

Hmm...Good point. Subconsciously I keep thinking one type of product per order, and of course that may not be the case. As kuroi mentioned, the use of forwarders is another option, but that doesn't allow one manager to know what another has already done.

I'll go over the shared account idea with the managers and experiment a bit, but if not too much trouble I'd still like to know how/where to tweak it.

In includes/modules/payment/ceon_manual_card.php you'd change
PHP Code:
if (defined('CEON_MANUAL_CARD_EMAIL') &&
zen_validate_email(CEON_MANUAL_CARD_EMAIL)) {
$module_configured_properly = true;
}
to
PHP Code:
if (defined('CEON_MANUAL_CARD_EMAIL')) {
$module_configured_properly = true;
}
..thereby removing the check on the e-mail address' format.
I think Zen Cart should then be fine with sending multiple e-mails by simply having commas between the addresses.
All the best..

I think Zen Cart should then be fine with sending multiple e-mails by simply having commas between the addresses.

Thanks a lot! At the moment I'm up to my eyeballs in trojan's etc on a users pc, but I'll try this out asap.

That works perfectly. Thanks Conner. I'll be sure to only use it as a last resort.

I'm having the same issue. (I'm a SQL newbie, too. As in, never really looked at it until today.)
Even so, I'm certain I'm SO...CLOSE...to getting it working, but I'm stymied:
1. I read the FAQ and the instructions. I created a new SQL database. I made sure the file "includes/configure.php" showed the right database name.
2. I used "Tools - Install SQL Patches" to upload "ceon_manual_card.sql" and then "ceon_manual_card_upgrade_from_1.x.sql". I didn't type anything into the big text field, I just uploaded the files specified. Or installed them. Or whatever it is you do to create a table in a database. I guess.
When listing payment modules, it shows "Ceon Manual Card v2.0.0" (YAY) but Zen Cart says: "The Ceon Manual Card Database Table Does Not Exist!" (boo)
3. I looked in the SQL database and I have a table called "ceon_manual_card", but it doesn't seem to be "active" or have anything in it. Not sure how to fix that.
Read the FAQ again. Read this thread. Utterly stuck.

Yes, that's the problem. Upload ALL of the module's files again. You have missed some out.

I had other problems, too, so I simply deleted everything from the server and reinstalled, and this time I copied the Ceon files into the correct directories before uploading them to the server, and that seems to have worked perfectly. Thanks very much!

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
GoDaddy just told me that Crypt_Blowfish is not compatible with their system, that they tried installing it and it did not work. This seems a bit odd to me and I suspect there is a bit of a problem with having to talk to a tech person who has never heard of it who then has to talk to someone else. Does anyone have Crypt_Blowfish working on GoDaddy so I can go back to them and say "see!"
I know GoDaddy is not the favorite of Zenners, but this is where I am for now.
Thanks for your help.

You can follow the instructions in the FAQs to install the files manually (FTPing them up to your store's directories as appropriate).
Or you can wait for version 3.0.0, which removes the need for the PEAR and PEAR:Crypt_Blowfish files.
In the meantime you can simply disable the storage of details, so you don't need PEAR:Crypt_Blowfish. It's less convenient for your customers as they'll have to re-enter their details if they leave the payment page and come back to it, but it's only a temporary situation, until 3.0.0 is out.
Version 3.0.0 should hopefully be out at the end of next week or early the week after; please, everyone, don't ask "when will 3.0.0 be out?" - I won't respond to any such question.
All the best..

Conor,
If you would like me to take a look at and edit new installation instructions for 3.0, I would be happy to help. I used to do that kind of thing many years ago for Sierra Online. As someone who was somewhat confused by the 2.x instructions, that kind of makes me even more qualified.

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
Hi Conor,
First post here.
When I clicked on payment modules your CEON module stated the following: "The Ceon Manual Card Database Table Does Not Exist!".
Perhaps foolishly I clicked install anyway as I had uploaded the two files provided with the package.
This caused my payment modules page to now only display the 3 authorize.net modules and the page is no longer editable or usable. Is the some way I can reverse this?
I also had a red page warning appear above my website re: Pear blowfish, I have now had my host install this however am still unable to add, remove or edit payment modules.
Thanks.

Are you referring to Ceon, the organisation, or manual credit card processing for online stores?
The former is loved by the Zen Cart community for Conor's magnificent and generous contributions.
The latter was removed from the core code because it encourages people to breach card processing regulations. Even Conor doesn't recommend it for other than very specific requirements.

I've a feeling this is indeed what Euonym was talking about, and as you say, although I'm making the software as good as it can be, it's not software I recommend using. Using a payment gateway is definitely the only professional way to accept payments for a Zen Cart store.
Quote:

Manual card modules can't be part of the standard Zen Cart installation as they are not PCI compliant (or at least, it would take some extreme circumstances to make them so); so Zen Cart removed their manual card payment module.
When I posted about 3.0.0 before, I was simply referring to an updated version of the Ceon Manual Card module which is being developed which will be easier to install for new users. The new version will have no effect on the lack of PCI compliance the use of this module results in.
All the best..

You have forgotten to upload some of the files.
Upload all of the files again, but this time take special care to upload any "admin" files to whatever your "admin" folder is called on your store (you may have changed its name to something else).
Once you do that I think everything should work just fine for you.
If not, get in contact with me at this address with FTP and admin details and I'll get you sorted.

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
Hello
I have basically read thru this entire thread. Have the mod installed but still confused about what stylesheets to change -
that is not terribly important right now becasue I too have the Pear problem. I have contacted my server and we installed the Crypt Bowfish 1.1.0CR2 version - I aslo thought It said beta behind it. and of course ther error is still there.
My server said that is the only version that they had on files. However if there was another one I could reference it and the tech department would configure my root to that.
Comments please?

You're the first person ever to have that problem as the documentation specifically tells you the exact stylesheet(s) you can add the styles to. I'm sorry but I can't make it any easier for you, simply re-read the instructions or ask your web designer to do it for you, it's really incredibly simple to do.

That beta version would have been fine. However, your hosts must have messed up the server's PEAR settings and rather than spend time sorting our your server problems it's better that I concentrate on getting version 3.0.0 out so servers like yours which are badly configured won't have any problems.
Just disable "Use Blowfish Encryption" as a temporary measure, until you can upgrade to version 3.0.0. Then you won't have any trouble! :)

Fair enough. Basically, put the styles in

Simple as that! :)

Dsiable Blowfish Encryption? Or the whole module? Blowfish Encryption, yes, disable it in the meantime if you haven't got it working, but 3.0.0 won't have any changes for the stylesheet, so best to make those changes now.

Hi there
I'm using Zencart 1.3.7 and CEON Manual Card Payment Module 1.2.0
I realise I need to upgrade this.
Do I just install 2.2.0 over the top of the current installation?

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
Hi Dbltoe
Thanks for the feedback.
I would like to upgrade Zencart but I'm worried that I'll break the store just before Christmas which is the bussiest time.
The store was built for me by somebody who is no longer freelance and may not be able to help quickly if there's a problem.
Is it straightforward? Last time I upgraded it took me many days to get the site functioning again properly. Any hints and tips for a successful upgrade?

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
Hi Steve,
I don't think it's the best time to upgrade unless you have a professional developer standing by behind you to back you up if things go wrong.
At the very least though you should install the Zen Cart security patches released over the past few years.. they are the biggest problem with using an old version (don't take this lightly, you NEED to install any patches). The following is ESSENTIAL:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=130161
This isn't the appropriate place to have this discussion though. Please instead post the "Upgrading from 1.3.x to 1.3.9" thread in the main forum.
Good luck with the store and the installing of the patches.
All the best..

I just installed this in our ZenCart v1.3.9h..

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
Hi Conor,
I am currently using version 1.3.9h of Zen Cart. I've installed the Ceon Manual Credit Card Module (which I love by the way!).
I was thinking of removing the "Credit Card Start Date (if on card) portion of the credit card input form.
Do you see any downside to removing this?
Previously I saw where you explained how to remove the CVV by deleting certain lines in the includes/modules/payments/ceon_manual_card.php file. I was hoping to try to do the same thing for the Start Date.
If you think there are no problems with removing this, could tell me what lines of code to delete?
Thanks!

Yes, I've been enjoying the Christmas Holidays very much :) I hope you and your family have also had a nice Holiday Season. I'm sure it's much the same for you.
Thanks for the info on the module. I'll just wait and keep checking back here to see when it is ready. Thanks for making such a great module!

Absolutely! I'd been working 15-16 hour days trying to get new versions of all our modules out before Christmas so I would know "they're done" and copuld relax more over Christmas, but never quite got there.. so hopefully it doesn't take much of the first week of the year to finally get these new releases out. Then I'll probably have earned another break! :)

Yes, you are using an ancient version of the software.. the problem you mentioned is caused by Zen Cart 1.3.9 and was fixed in version 2.0.1 of Coen Manual Card.

Hi,
I am just installing the CMCPM on one of my servers and I need to install the crypt_blowfish module ... when searching for available modules available I get a list of about 12 versions?
These are the ones that closely relate:
Crypt::Blowfish (2.12),
Crypt::Blowfish::Mod (0.04),
Crypt::Blowfish_PP (1.12)
Which one do I install?
Many thanks for any assistance you can offer.

NONE of the ones you posted are right, I don't know what you are looking at!
You can either wait for Ceon Manual Card 3.0.0, which no longer requires any PEAR packages, or you can follow the "Manually install PEAR:Crypt_Blowfish" FAQ, which will point you to get the files from:

Hi,
I've upgraded to vs. 2.2.2 and now I have no margin on the accepted card icons on my checkout page. The margin is still good on the sidebox though. I would assume that it's not getting directed to my stylesheet but I'm not sure where to look.

Make sure your stylesheet has the following styles and all should be fine:
Code:
.CeonManualCardCardIcon { margin-right: 4px; margin-bottom: 4px; }
.CeonManualCardCardsAcceptedSideboxCardIcon { margin-left: 4px; margin-bottom: 4px; }
.CeonManualCardFormGadgetError { background: #ff6633; }

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
Hi Conor,
OK, I just deleted the CSS code a had and copied and pasted the code that you had posted. I accept VISA,MC, and Discover. By playing with the CSS, I can adjust the bottom margin on the VISA and MC but the Discover icon doesn't change. I can't change the right margins on any of the cards either. Also, when I play with the bottom margin of this code,
.CeonManualCardCardIcon {
margin-right: 4px; margin-bottom: 4px; },
if I increase it, it seems to increase the top margin of VISA and MC, and nothing happens with Discover.
My site is www.imtdirect.com. It's still under construction.
Thanks,
Matt

The icons are centred within their sidebox. You are simply mistaking what you are seeing for what you think you are seeing. It is indeed increasing the BOTTOM margin. In CSS [one of the two] margins are collapsed when two meet.
CSS is a very complex technology, it can take an hour to adjust the positions of the simplest things, because of the effects of style bubbling and the ordering of elements in the HTML source.
You should use something like Firebug's "Inspect" functionality to find out what is happening to an element on a HTML page, you'll find things much easier to understand if you look at what styles are being applied and which styles are being overridden by others.
Unfortunately I can't give free CSS modification support here, you should try Firebug and read up a bit more on CSS, pay a designer to help you, or just go with things as they are, they look alright to me! :)
All the best..

Re: Ceon Manual Card Payment Module v2.0.0!
I'm not having any trouble with the sidebox, It's on the checkout/payment method screen where I have no side margin between icons. I'll see what I can discover with firebug.
Thanks,

Good luck in getting it sorted.. fixing CSS can be a real time consumer! Firebug is the ultimate weapon to counter its time wasting abilities!

Yep I agree.. These "non-infomational" posts always aggravate me.. VERY frustrating when folks don't post their solution so others might benefit from the answer.. There's ALWAYS an expectation to GET answers here, but no quid pro quo.. **sigh**
Sorry.. I'm in pain and feeling SPICY today.. :laugh:

lol, 100% absolutely not! You'll probably have to pay around £20 a month for a payment gateway service if you want to use a PCI compliant payment method for your store.
Hope that helps!
