Minor issue here. I had your previous version installed. From your new version (that I got from your PM) I updated and uploaded everything until the sql patch.
When I try to get that done through the admin, here is what I get:
1146 Table 'thenameofmydatabase.products' doesn't exist
in:
[INSERT INTO zen_product_extra_fields (products_id) SELECT products_id FROM products where products_type = 1;]
What am I missing? :blush:

There were no changes to the database so there is no need to run the install sql script unless you've not created the required data base table.
and - looking at the error message closer - you might have a prefix on your tables so therefore the table doesn't exist as in the sql file.

I am sorry if I am placing this on a wrong discussion. I am testing this on a non-active site just to make sure I am doing everything right and I don't seem to be able to correct some of the errors. I get the following errors in the product page.

Are you talking about the SQL Patch? If so, yes I have.
I had the same issue. Same error popped up in the Admin, on the already existing product pages.
I noticed that I didn't have that error message on a product create AFTER installing "Product Extra Fields".
The only solution I found was to get rid of all my products, uploaded all the products again and problem solved.
It works for me as I have about 80 products. But maybe Delia has a better idea...
I would pay to have someone upgrading "Product Extra Fields" to a version that would work with Easy Populate!!! :yes:

i have actually installed the Extra description files mod, everything works fine in admin, files are uploaded etc but nothing appears on the product page, although the product page shows the code to show it?
is there any point trying to fix this or should i install the extra products field mod?
I am having an issue understaing the download and upload in order for the MOD to work properly. I have over 1700 products and when I install the mod there is nothing in the admin area's product fields, however on the customer side the product shows without any problems. I can't afford to screw this up and that is why I asked for a more clear direction on how to export prodcuts in MYPHPADMIN and then Import them back in. So far, no response....
Oh Well.
The new version has an sql patch to use that will set it up completely without having to use phpmyadmin.
If necessary, go get new version and start over.

Did anyone ever find a solution to this problem? I have the same one. Can no longer edit products. I *think* the problem stems from installing the product extra fields mod into a subfolder of public_html. But I don't know what to change to fix it.
When I go to classes/object_info.php, lines 29 & 30 are comment lines......

I just installed this on version v1.3.9e. I uploaded the files, changed the permission, ran the sql and selected the appropriate template. When I add a new product the extra fields aren't listed for me to fill in. If I go into the database through myphpadmin I can add a pdf file that does appear on the product page. How do I enter the field information through the admin, not the database?

If you uploaded the files correctly to admin, you would see those fields on the page, so I suggest going folder by folder to make sure you have uploaded all files properly.

I had it on 1.3.8a and upgraded and now item like video links and extra text no longer show up.
Admin area work fine and i can upload videos (fla's) and look at the Db and they are there but nothing on the site itself.
I've had no complaints but that doesn't mean anything. What you are talking about should not be affected by any changed files. I see a date change on the product info template file and one page file. Would you send me the url of your site?

Are you sure you uploaded the template for the product page to the right place? I don't see the code I'm expecting in that page.
the file structure in the zip file has that file at:
includes/templates/your_template/templates.
If you uploaded the package without changing the your_template to your custom template then it's not in the right place.
looks like the code is there, i reuploaded my backup copy of the file.

I want to show on the product listing (product_listing.php) if the product has a flash file included.
So i have the product_listing and now i want an extra column with the following: Video: Yes/No.
I tried alot of things but i cant get it to work. Does anyone have any idea?

There are no list items in your html. So the mod is now in but with no list items showing, it makes me think that you either haven't added the new fields, or the datasbase table isn't uploaded or filled out or something bigger.

Thanks for building and supporting this mod! I'm looking at a major upgrade of our product info pages and I think this will help. What we need is a short bit of description on the right-top of the page with the image on the left-top then below that we want the main description area where we'd like to use Tabbed Products Pro. Do you know if they're compatible? Also, if we have Quick Updates but we don't use it for the descriptions (only quantity and model number) will we be OK or do we still need to do a merge?

Do you perhaps know how I could get the advanced search to look in the extra description field? I have some parameters in that field, but when I do a search on the exact keyword from the extra description, no results are found.

The search only searches on the product title and description so it would have to be altered to include that new table. I'm not sure how possible it would be - it's kinda like the attributes - just maybe not possible tho I think it should be. I'll keep it in mind tho; I had it come up this morning as well.
I have the new zencart, but when i install the latest product extra fields addon and i type some text int the extra field, it also outputs the html code. So the page looks like this:
When i put in this:

it outputs this on the product page:

I tried reuploading and stuff, and changing browsers but nothing works. Also moving in to plain text mode does not work. it keeps outputting the HTML code too.

1.3.9g has screwed up a lot of things that will be fixed with the next version.
There is a fix published that will correct this in many areas of zen cart such as the define pages but in the case of this mod, I simply recommend only using text for the moment until the zen cart folks decide how they are going to handle the next set of changes.

I am building a site in EN, FR and DE. How would I edit this mod to make it offer the 3 language text boxes. I don't need it to offer different language for the file uploads, just the text input fields.

I've never done a mod with the languages in mind so I'm a little fuzzy on that myself.
Definitely would require major changes to the mod and the database. Not simply edits.

I installed this but unfortunately, I was using ZC 1.39g. There is now ZC 1.39h released. Do you know yet if your addon will work with it?
Also, after installing this, where are we supposed to see your extra fields? In the product editing area? As of now, I don't see any extra fields.

Please keep in mind this is just a quick solution and not very smart. I just needed this done asap. When you use lightbox (or slimbox) for your product images to enlarge, fancybox will possibly disable that.
You need to use fancybox for your images also by doing this:
go to includes/templates/yourtemplatefolder/templates/tpl_modules_main_product_image.php and add id="example1" to the <a> functions. Very easy.

I finally got the checking if the video field in database is filled function done. Just need a little copy-paste so ill explain it to you guys. This adds a column to your prodcut listing showing if there is a flash file or not linked to the product.
You need to edit one of the excisting columns so i picked WEIGHT (so this function can be turned off or on when you disable WEIGHT at Admin->Product Listing)
Go to includes/modules/product_listing.php and then go to case 'PRODUCT_LIST_WEIGHT':
Delete the whole code within the case 'PRODUCT_LIST_WEIGHT': and the break; tag. Then add the following code:
This is a quick solution and i havent tested it fully yet, but it seems to work perfect. Good luckCode:$sql5 = "select * from " . TABLE_PRODUCT_EXTRA_FIELDS . "

I seem to almost have this working with the latest zen cart (1.3.9h) but not quite ....
When I go to look at one of the files, I get the following error message:

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Any idea what I need to do? I have changed the permissions ... and uploaded the document (a pdf) but cannot get it to open.
Arrrgghhh ... so close and yet so far. When I hover over the link, it shows the folder but not the particular file ...

You shouldn't be able to view that folder in a browser - only thru ftp.
If the file itself isn't showing in the link, then something isn't working.
At this point, I'll send the newest version via email since it hasn't been added to this site. Obviously, whoever is in charge is on vacation.

I have gone through the new files and merged the changes to my Zen Cart. However, I still cannot get it to work entirely. Attached is a screen shot of what is showing.
The top section are some fields I altered using product_weight as a starting point. Most of those work (except one which inexplicably will work if I populate it from the database but not from the admin pages).
Below are your extra fields. The first is a Youtube video but all I get is text. The other documents are pdf but when I go to click on them I get the following error message ...

I would guess you are on zen cart version 1.3.9g - upgrade to h, the problems have been fixed.

I have compared all files and ensured that I have everything updated correctly (using 1.3.9h and product_extra_fields ver. 5)
Slowly getting closer but still not got it working ...
Now when I add a file (e.g. Redwood.pdf), I can see the file in the link ... See the attached jpg. At the top of the attachment you can see it shows that the pdf has been successfully added and at the bottom it shows the location of the file when I hover over the link ...
For some reason, it is showing the product_extra_fields folder as being in the Admin folder. I had put it into the main folder ... So that is the first problem ....
Next, when I update the product, and then hover over the link, it no longer shows the document, nor does it show it as being in the ADMIN folder ... so there is something going wrong there.
Also, when I go to the store, the file is not showing up ... still just going to the folder and not the file itself.
Any ideas?

Thanks for this post. I have been having the same problem.
When I look in the Database table I see that the entry of file_1_title has been written no probs. But the file name hasn't, the file_1 field is still blank. When I manually enter the file-name the links perform as expected.
Unfortunately I am not sure enough with php scripting to debug what the error for me might be...

I have the same problem using v1.3.9h...the links are created and the documents are uploaded. The problem is the store links to the folder but the filename is ommitted from the link.
I have installed this wonderful mod on 1.3.9h. After importing the fields for the existing products the links show up on the product page as expected. So far so good.
But when I go to the admin there is nothing to see. No new (sub) product type. No extra fields on the edit product pages.
I have checked over and over if i have uploaded all files but everything is there.
Am I overlooking something? Please help.
You must not have uploaded the changed files. Check the file names in the package and then check to see if the files on the site have changed dates - the date you uploaded the files in admin.Quote:

Are you sure that you are using the version 1.5.1? The changed file is admin/includes/modules/product/preview_info.php. I suggest uploading it separately to make sure.

I'm having trouble with the pdf upload. When i preview a new product I get "Error: Destination does not exist /home/newmedia/public_html/newmediastudio/onlinequote/download/products_extra_files"
My site is in a subdirectory of my site - http://newmediastudio.com.au/onlinequote so this looks right to me. I have created the download/products_extra_files folder at the root level as well and set all4 folder permissions to 777.
I also tried changing define('DIR_FS_PRODUCT_EXTRA', 'product_extra_files/');
to
define('DIR_FS_PRODUCT_EXTRA', 'onlinequote/product_extra_files/');
in product_database_names.php but still get the same error. I guess it's something to do with being in a subdirectory?

You haven't run the sql file or else you have a prefix on your database tables. This has nothing to do with EZ populate.
That error message is putting the onlinequote into a folder called newmediastudio so it's a sub directory of a subdirectory. That sounds like an incorrect or unusable setting in your admin configure file. Are you able to click on the online catalog link on admin and get to your cart?

you would need to change the table name in your database. Do you know how to do that? Do you have access to your database to do that?

Adds extra fields to a products and provides automatic display of pdfs for download or display of flash or display of extra text. Each field can be individually displayed and formatted if one wants to reformat the product info template.

when I install add ons can I determine which products to have Extra Fields for text, pdfs and flash or all products have Extra Fields?
Because it would be great to only certain products may assign this function.
The extra fields only show up if they have something in them.
in the "extra field", i can only input one language, what do i make it used for multi languages just like the description area?

I'm still having this problem.
1146 Table 'newmedia_zc8.zen_product_extra_description_extra' doesn't exist
newmedia_zc8 is the database name, zen is the table prefix.
I have access to phpmyadmin, I'm just not sure what to rename the table to?

When I looked at that closer I realized there's something majorly wrong there.
There is no TABLE_PRODUCT_EXTRA_DESCRIPTION_EXTRA in this mod.
How did you install this? Did you just use the files in the zip package or did you try to merge files?
i just uses the files in this mod but I had tried Extra Description product mod. Looks like the error comes from that one. I must have left some of those files on the server. I'll remove those and try again. I'll let you know, thanks.

I am trying to use this mod along with easy populate. When i upload the product data through easy populate the products show on the site but since i have installed 'products Extra Fields' the product is empty in admin. The categories and products are listed in admin but when i go to edit a product all the fields are empty. Would you have any ideas why that would happen? Both of these mods were working seperatly.

Thank you for this WONDERFUL mod! I have a quick question that I cannot figure out for the life of me...I uploaded the SQL you supplied - just added the Zen prefix. When I add a new product everything is fine and it updates with no problem, but if I go to edit the product and go to save changes I get the following error:
1062 Duplicate entry '3' for key 1

If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
I cannot figure out why it will not let me add additional PDF's or do any edit once the product is in there?
Any thoughts of something i am blatantly missing here?!?!

This happened the first time you tried to edit a product? That message tells me something has definitely gone wrong. Contact via pm and I'll take a look at it.

Yes I only have 2 products in the store...it is an advanced site I am working on so doing a lot of coding and testing...usually I can figure these things out but I am stumped on this one....

Does the Extra Text Field have to be a large text box? I actually need to enter a 2nd Model Number (Part Number). So just need a short text input box. Is this possible?
Also, would there be a way to link to YouTube videos instead of uploading flash? I know I can cut and paste the embed code, but I would rather have it entered as a field.
I wish to use the extra text field for suggested age for my product....Childrens products - eg age 3.
How do I get the advance search to pick up this field and allow a search by age similar to the search by price?
