I did follow the instructions (which were a bit vague) in that post. As I said in my post, either I didn't do them correctly or it wasn't the fix because it did not work.
I notice your design website appears to have a very similar template and the same slider, but doesn't have this issue. How did you resolve the problem?
I followed the instructions here:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=248
It works perfectly :smile:
I will post an updated template package shortly.

Now go back and delete the original jscript_easySlider.js from includes/templates/yourtemplate/jscript
It sould now work without any errors as the jscript_jquery.js is now loading first
I hope this helps.
I tried it but now I get all the photos displaying underneath eachother and no slide show and a new error message from the browser.

I know it probably isn't a template issue but I'd really like to get it solved because I love the look of this template.
Also the suggested JS fix didn't work on my site either. IE8 still has an error with the JS Slider. I'm not too stressed about that but I need to get the header fixed.

Re: Andover Modern Template Support Thread
gruntre69--Loading in the original style sheets will only work if you are using the template with all of the functionality that the demo has (this is what I have done the cross browser testing on). If you have made any changes, which you have, then you will have to do cross browser testing/fixing again.
Quote:
I did cross browser testing for ie6, ie7, ie8, firefox, opera, safari, and chrome. The template will show perfectly in all of these browsers if you have not changed anything and are using the layout as seen in the demo:
http://www.picaflor-azul.com/free-de...andover_modern
If you have made any modifications or are not using the default layout then you will have to do cross browser testing again.
If you follow the instructions here:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=248
The javascript error will be fixed. It does work as I have used it on my own site.

My apology,
I loaded the java script file into the wrong spot. It does indeed work.
I think however I will have to start all over again because I don't have the skills to do the cross browser testing.
Thanks for your help though, I'll get it working with patience!

Re: Andover Modern Template Support Thread
OK I've just installed a brand new version of Zen cart in one of my previously parked domains. I installed this template and have made no changes to the template or the zen files other than what the template makes. I still have the header being cut off on IE7.
I do have it installed on a server with PHP4. Do you think this could be the reason for this problem?
-
Re: Andover Modern Support problem with background
There is a line where the gradient mets the background color in both the unaltered copy and any background I put in. I am thinking that there is a bottom border on images and that is what is showing up with the body background image but I don't see where to turn that off or find what is actually causing it.
Your demo copy does not show it that way, but the template was put on a clean install of 1.3.9h so I don't think it is coming from there.
Thanks,
C

The template as shown in the demo shows perfectly in ie7, ie8, ie9, firefox, chrome, safari, opera. If you do not use all of the functionality shown in the demo, or change anything, and have problems in any browser, then you will need to do cross broswer testing again.

Re: Andover Modern Template Support Thread
Hi Anne,
Nice template. PP donation coming later today.
The "Buy Now" button appears to actually be an "Add to Cart" button in functionality and I'm afraid that our "E-commerce challenged" customers will be continuously asking questions about why there is no Add to Cart button.
Link to example with spaces added because it is my zen sandbox that will not replace the existing site until Jan 2011
http:// s r evaewniahc.info/zen139/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5
All other issues were resolved by "Re-Reading" the install.txt file. The aqua bar on the right side was fixed by the Config/LayoutSettings/ColumnRightStatus-Global set to 0 instead of 1. Sure helps to read all the text.

The buy now button functionality is native to zen cart. If you want the button to say "add to cart" then you can copy the includes/templates/andover_modern/buttons/english/button_buy_now.gif to ncludes/templates/andover_modern/buttons/english/button_in_cart.gif.

I found the reason for this problem which was in the 2 style sheets for ie6 & ie7
there is a -50 in there which was causing the problems.
Code:
#header-curr-lang {position:relative;top:100px;}
#mainWrapper {position:relative; top:-50px;}
.navNextPrevList {padding-left:10px;}
All fixed now!

This template has been designed as a 2 column. If you want to
use the third column then you will have to add the styles in the stylesheet and adjust the width of the slideshow.

Hi Anne,
Thanks for the quick reply!!! :clap:
I tried putting it in the tpl_footer_menu.php and it ends up going on top of the Site Copyright writing or in the Important Links box. I am confused as to where I would enter it for it to be above the coyright but not in the important links box and centered.
The code I need to enter is below:
Code:
<!--bof- product disclaimer display CLJ 11/15/2008 -->
<div id="disclaimer"><?php echo TEXT_PRODUCTS_DISCLAIMER; ?>
</div>
<!--eof- product disclaimer display CLJ 11/15/2008-->
Also, if I wanted to keep it in the same spot as the pic below but center the text how would I do that???

One way to do it without adding any xhtml is to add this to your stylesheet.css:

My guess is that it has something to do with the css or header file. Have you edited these?

Hi Anne,
I got it to work, turns out the html_header file included with CSS/JS Loader was not for 1.3.9 but searching the forums I found the file.
Using the file below and having CSS/JS Loader 'enabled' works fine? I ended up deleted everything in the html_header.php file and pasting what is below. Is this OK??

Hi Anne,
I got it to work, turns out the html_header file included with CSS/JS Loader was not for 1.3.9 but searching the forums I found the file.
Using the file below and having CSS/JS Loader 'enabled' works fine? I ended up deleted everything in the html_header.php file and pasting what is below. Is this OK??
This will break the cross browser compatibility for ie because you have omitted the calls for the ie stylesheets.
Thanks,
Anne

So I should change the very bottom of the code to how it's below? :oops:Or do I have to do that somewhere else?
Code:
//DEBUG: echo '<!-- I SEE cat: ' . $current_category_id . ' || vs cpath: ' . $cPath . ' || page: ' . $current_page . ' || template: ' . $current_template . ' || main = ' . ($this_is_home_page ? 'YES' : 'NO') . ' -->';

Re: Andover Modern Template Support Thread
Anne,
Thank you for a beautiful template. I couldn't wait to get it in place after seeing it.
At this point I have made no changes to the stylesheet.css other than the height of the slider, a simple adjustment. I use bullets (HTML, <UL><LI><LI></UL>) in my individual product descriptions extensively and am finding that those bullets almost run into the product image on the left (they're very close) in any product info page where bullets are used. Sometimes they mix with the image.
How can I adjust the text width of a product description to move it right and away from the product image on the left on the product info page? I have looked through the stylesheet but am unsure where that adjustment is.
Also if a product description is somewhat long the product description text continues and runs down and under the image to the left, offsetting the description text making the text formatting unsightly. How can the text be adjusted to drop straight down (with a straight left margin) from the beginning of the description to the end and not go left under the image? Hope I am making myself clear.
Here's a link to my store to a specific product where both of the issues I describe above are happening:
http://earnest-enterprises.com/index...oducts_id=2883
Thanks for any help and kudos to you for a super template.

Re: Andover Modern Template Support Thread
Where do I look to remove the social networking buttons from the product pages?
The FB Like button just goes into an endless popup loop on this computer and we currently don't have a desire for the tweet and share buttons.

Remove the code in the includes/templates/andover_modern/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php

Re: Andover Modern Template Support Thread
Hello I switched over from the original green template yesterday to the Andover Modern and I have to say it is great. I have been working on alot of different stuff on the template and I just realized my site is no longer going Secure. I have no explanation for this. To the best of my knowledge I uploaded everything correctly. I checked my configure.php files and they stayed the same as when I originally set them up to be secure. I use GoDaddy SSL and called them and they said the certificate is loaded just fine. If anyone has a possible answer I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much for your time

I have installed zencart 1.3.9h German Version, this template can wonderfully work if the site is on English, but there are problems if I change the site to German, could you tell me, which several files should I add in, so that the template can work on other language. I can translate them myself, but I am noob on zencart:P

Re: Andover Modern Template Support Thread
There is a problem under IE8 as the jscript_easySlider.js is being loaded before the jscript_jquery.js file hence the error
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=248
to solve this I copied the contents of the jscript_easySlider.js file into a new file (you need the enclose it within the script tag ie <script>contents of the jscript_easySlider.js</script> name this new file jscript_easySlider.php and upload it to /includes/modules/pages/index
Now go back and delete the original jscript_easySlider.js from includes/templates/yourtemplate/jscript
I am just wondering how ans where to enclose the script tag ie <script>contents of the jscript_easySlider.js</script>

This is not a problem with the template. In the template I have not used any absolute path names. Please do a search on the forum for help with this.

If you want to use the site in a language other than english then you must copy all of the english files to your language directory. Please do a forum search for instructions on implementing multiple languages.

This has been asked multiple times in several threads and received no response other than a link to the above directions.
I asked the same question. :)
This fix does appear to work, but the directions aren't very clear for those who may not be familiar with working on these type files and/or sometimes rely on step-by-step instructions.
Simple five minute answer on how to fix the IE error:
Using notepad or some other text editing program...
1. Copy the complete contents of /includes/templates/andover_modern/jscript/jscript_easySlider.js
2. Paste the contents of that file into a new file
3. At the very beginning of the NEW file (line 1) add: <script>
4. At the very end of the NEW file (line 225) add: </script>
5. Save the NEW file and name it: jscript_easySlider.php
6. Upload this new file to: /includes/modules/pages/index
7. Then delete this file: /includes/templates/andover_modern/jscript/jscript_easySlider.js
Alternative fix:
1. Grab a copy of the file I've attached to this post, unzip it and upload it to:
/includes/modules/pages/index
2. Then delete this file:
/includes/templates/andover_modern/jscript/jscript_easySlider.js
Note - I didn't 'create' this fix, I just finally figured out how to implement it and make it work on my site. :)
(BIG Thank You to Waddtown for figuring it out and posting the fix)
I have tested it and it does work on both the Andover Modern and Apparel Boutique templates.

Re: Andover Modern Template Support Thread
Anne,
I'm having a problem with the maroon/brown header image where the checkout and other options reside. When a user isn't logged in they see this:
Attachment 8692
However, when a user logs in and they've added items to their cart the search window and button drop down like this:
Attachment 8691
It appears there isn't enough space on the line for everything so the search option has to drop to the next line. Where can I adjust this? I have made no changes to the stylesheet other than color changes and adjusting the slider to fit my images.
Thanks for any help and for a beautiful template....

Hi Anne,
I was having a similar problem but changing to below would make the search box go to the next line again whenever you went to Home or any other Category
Code:
#navMain ul li a{padding:0;}
Changin the line below in the stylesheet seems to work, is it OK to do this?
Code:
#navMain ul li a {text-decoration: none;padding: 0em 0.5em;margin: 0;color: #fffede;white-space: nowrap;}
to
Code:
#navMain ul li a {text-decoration: none;padding: 0;margin: 0;color: #fffede;white-space: nowrap;}
Thanks!!!

Re: Andover Modern Template Support Thread
HelpMeSell--Yes, both have the same end result. It is more "correct" to do it the way that you mentioned, but my addition is meant to make it easier for someone who has no idea what a stylesheet is :smile: They just have to copy and paste something into the end of the file.
Thanks,
Anne

Font Sizing:
I know it's set in css but I have tried and failed!
Site: www-metalpix-co-uk
The body text is a little small and I would like to increase the size, also the same text size is reproduced in the catagories section.
I would like the text to be the same size as the Product Description. I have played on my local copy to no avail.
Any pointers would be great.. Thanks

I think you gotta edit "font-size: 62.5%" below in your stylesheet. I may very well be wrong as I'm still learning :unsure:
Code:
body {margin: 0;font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 62.5%;color: #888787;background: #6a6b6f url(../images/bk.jpg) repeat-x center top;}

I would just start with the first error:
Quote:
# Error Line 18, Column 8: required attribute "type" not specified
<script>
✉
The attribute given above is required for an element that you've used, but you have omitted it. For instance, in most HTML and XHTML document types the "type" attribute is required on the "script" element and the "alt" attribute is required for the "img" element.
Typical values for type are type="text/css" for <style> and type="text/javascript" for <script>.
If you read the error and explanation it tells you exactly what is wrong and how to fix it. I don't think that I can say it any clearer :smile:
Thanks,
Anne

Have you tried increasing the size from define pages editor for the particular pages that you like the text to be bigger?

Either add a div to your text and style the div, or you can add:
Code:
#indexDefaultMainContent p{font-size:150%;}
to the bottom of your stylesheet.css. Just put the percent at whatever you want.
Thanks,

Real simple for some!!! Not for me ;)
Ok, pulling my hair out at trying to get the facebook & twitter icons to open in a new window and not leave the main site.
No good at PHP and I tried the Target = blank thing to no avail.. so what do I need to plave in these two lines of code to make them use a new window?
define('FACEBOOK','http://en-gb.facebook.com/pages/The-Personalised-Touch-by-metalPIX/182065021825111');
define('TWITTER', 'http://www.twitter.com/metalpix_uk');
Edit the includes/templates/andover_modern/common/tpl_footer_menu.php file.
Thanks,
Anne
