Have you checked your file to be sure you haven't listed a product twice at two different prices? What item number are you referring to? As I recall, you had quite a few errors in your data. Missing categories, duplicate entries... v_products_status was also not set.
At my count, you have 7 duplicate entries, and 85 records missing categories information...

I am going through that now and cleaning it up as they are coming up.. But even when I do it is not importing the pricing fine still.. 1 for particular is with the UPC : 895328000000

I cannot find this the v_products_model column of the data you provided ... and you still have a SPACE in your price column header: ',v_product_price ,'

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
I didn't update the link that I sent you I manually uploaded it..
So I think I found the problem, when I convert from excel to CSV it is not formatting it correctly, going to dig into it some more now and see if I can fix those issues

Please see first post in this thread for info on creating your CSV. You should use OpenOffice (it's free) to export your CSV files. Excel has many issues and does not give you an option to save in your target character set, nor is it consistent depending on which version you use, export (three types in Excel) or platform your use (window, mac, etc.).

I was working too late last night and saved the file as .ods not .csv
I am sure it will work after I upload the categories.
Is there any way to display wholesale prices when the customer is logged in? Preferably the ability to display two different currencies, depending on their country of origin when the customer is logged in. I had a guy get this working for me with a previous version of Zencart but dual pricing - wholesale pricing does not work with Zen 1.5 yet. Cheers

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the dual-pricing mod, and configuring zencart is outside of the scope of this thread. However, if there are fields that the "dual pricing mod" adds to the database, it would be possible to modify EP4 to support that (in time). As you can see at the right side of your EP4 screen, there are several mods currently supported.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hello...
I'm trying to get EP 4 installed... But it just won't show. I tried different directories.
The install-txt speaks of 'admin-directory'.
First off all: That doesn't exist in my store. Only 'zcadmin'.
Second: It states that 'if EP4 doesn't show in Admin- tools, you didn't upload the files to the correct directory. I could have figured that out myself as well... :shocking:
So... EP4. Who can help me and tell me in what directory it should be installed exactly? I am using Zen-Cart 1.5.0, with the zen-cart Zen template.
Any support is greatly appreciated!

Hi Chris,
As you know, when you first uploaded zencart 1.5 you had a directory named "admin" ... after you completed installing you were directed to rename your admin directory which you named "zcadmin".
Perhaps you used one of the auto-installers? Either way, "zcadmin" is not obscure enough for security. Please rename that to something hackers won't be guessing on the third try.
In my EP package is a directory named "admin" this is what you want to upload to your websites renamed admin folder. In the current case "zcadmin".
Also, since you are using 1.5, there is a folder named "zencart 1.5 extra files". In there is an "admin" folder with sub-folders. This is what I mean when maintaining folder structure.
You must upload:
admin/includes/functions/extra_functions/reg_easypopulate_4.php
to
your_web_site.com/zcadmin/includes/functions/extra_functions/reg_easypopulate_4.php
Hopefully this will get you up and running. I highly recommend that you also install the backup mysql tool:

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
I'm using Zen-Cart 1.3.9.h I'm new to Zen-Cart and particularly the easy-populate mod. I'm trying to figure out how to use it but can't find any tutorials on it. It appears easy to use, and from the feedback I see, it seems great, so I don't understand what I'm not doing right.
In the "Full export Option", I've generated the "Complete product" csv file. I've uploaded the file to my computer, added products and using the Uload EP file, I've uploaded the new file. I didn't change anything in the file name format. I've clicked the IMPORT option in the dialogue box, but the new products don't appear in my store. Can you add products with this or just update products?
Sorry if I sound novice, but if there are tutorial threads of something that can help me use this module, I'd appreciate.
Thanks,
Al

Hi Al,
Welcome to zencart and EP4!
Are you getting any information at the bottom of the screen? EP4 will give you a summary of imports, updates, and errors. If you are not getting this, then you are probably not creating your CSV file correctly.
You need to use OpenOffice to export your CSV... please try that. I give some step by step instruction earlier in this thread.
Also, if you have data already in your store, you can verify that EP4 is working correctly by first doing a full export, then clicking the Import link. You should see all your products show as "updated". If you see this, then EP should be installed and working correctly.
If you still have trouble, you can PM me your data file and I'll take a look to see what could be the problem.
Also, which version are you using?

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hi, I'm using Easy Populate 4.0.19 - Beta 1-28-2012 on zen-cart v1.3.9h.
I hope you dont mind but I'd like your advice on whether the following would work to load attributes onto my shop which has duplicate (& blank) model numbers.
I'm hoping to use the features of a few programs to achieve my aims ;-)
My shop uses product id and currently i have easy populate advanced, apsona shop admin, and EP4 installled.
Just to explain the situation as i understand it.
1. EP4 doesn't support using product id
2. Easy Populate Advanced doesnt really support attribute upload (or at least its very difficult) but does support bulk upload of duplicate model numbers.
3. Apsona shop admin needs attributes to already exist but then can be used to assign them to other products.
Am i correct in thinking that i can create attributes using EP4?
If that is correct do i need to use EP4 to associate them with a product model? or can i just use it to fill the necessary tables in zen-cart?
I was thinking of creating a product "Attributes" and then assigning all the attributes to it. (and deleting it when finished)
What i am hoping to do is use EP4 to load all the attributes and then use Apsona to copy these attributes to the proper products.
Does this look like it would work? Any comments or tips would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi iddy!
I think you are on the right track. You would need at least 1 product to assign your basic attributes to, but you can delete the product(s) afterwards. Mind, this version of EP4 will only create basic attributes, and if you have a multiple languages, all language entries will be the same as your lowest defined language (usually 1 for english). If you look at the sample files, it should be very straight forward.
LOL > Apsona. Yes. I totally understand why they took this route. It's a freaking complicated mess! Zencart NEEDS a definable unique attribute id like using products_model as unique ... if they did that, you could have multiple unrelated attribute sets with the same attribute name, i.e. "Colors" and logically creating attributes at import would be easy ... but that's not so, so with EP4 you only get attribute name (like products_model have to be unique) but can have a large set of attribute values.
Not the best solution, but the only way to create them at upload intelligently without some major modification to core files.
Time permitting (I'm currently BURIED in work), I'm hoping to get a new update with some progress with attributes. I was about half way there when the (*&! hit the fan. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks.
Yes, EP 303 Adv will let you use the products_id... and also let you totally frag your store if you are not very careful. It is much like direct editing from within phpMyAdmin!
BTW, have you had any contact with Langer? I don't think anyone has seen hide nor hair of him for what must be three+ years now.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Thanks for the reply. I only use one language so no complications there. No, i've had no contact with Langer although i have emailed him a few times and I think i remember seeing his site saying EPA is ok for 1.3.9 so someone is still around.
Just one question on EP4, how do i make the first option for an attribute read only (please select option below) ?
I think i read something in your files that said changing the subsequent options wouldnt have the desired effect.
Brain is sorta foggy :-)

I think you mean "display only". You'll have to set that on the product after import, sorry. But I will get there eventually.
If you edit the product and then click it's attributes and then attribute controller, you'll get the option to set "display only".
Hope that helps.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hi
I am currently using EP 1.2.5.4
I import large amounts of new products into my database with EP 1.2.5.4. All of the products get uploaded to a single 'Upcoming Products' category, and only have name, short description, price and stock information on it.
However, for some reason, EP 1.2.5.4 assigns random manufacturers to the products I upload (I always leave the manufacturer filed blank, and change it when I'm sorting products on Zen Cart admin). I then have to re-download the full EP, and delete the wrongly assigned manufacturers (this only happens with the 'Upcoming Products' category).
Would downloading EP 4 solve this? Please keep in mind that my entire store update system works on excel (I cannot use Open Office)
Thanks for your help

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hi Seth,
EP4 will not assign random numbers to your products on upload. This will generate an error, and that data line will be skipped. Your copy must have been modified at some point.
1.2.5.4 does have a bug concerning Manufacturers. This has been fixed in EP4.
You need ONLY used Open Office to create your CSV from your .xls file. So you can continue to work normally with excel, and then only use OO to open your xls and export your CSV. At some point in the future I'll revisit the excel issue, but that will be after I've completed attributes and some other planned improvements. EP4 is also UTF-8 aware so users can properly use it with mult-byte languages. I do not believe that EP 1.2.5.4 handles multi-byte characters correctly.
Note: you can install EP4 along side your EP 1.2.5.4. Just be aware that the upload files are very different.

Hi Spid3r,
The field I used for my own unpublished mod is "products_upc" which is the same as what Numinix uses in his Products Fields mod. I have not added full support for all his fields, and you still have to do the other modifications ... there are a couple of threads about adding fields to the products databases, and what files need to be edited so you can display them in your store and edit them from within the admin.

Hi
Thanks for the quick response
Your version seems perfect, however I have one problem.
I have narrowed the source of the random manufacturers down to when I upload the Model/Price/Quantity file in the previous EP (this is odd because there isn't even a manufacturer tab in the file  )
The solutions would be to use your new version, but your columns are not arranged in the order I need for my excel update file.
Is there any way I can re-arrange the order of the tabs (v_products_model, etc)
Thanks

This is the error in my debug file (admin directory changed here for security purposes)

Hi
Please disregard this post. I re-wrote my update file to understand EP4's column arrangement.
This addon has solved my manufacturer issue  The only problem I have is that I have to use open office. Please could you add Excel support with future versions.

Hey Seth. Column order should not matter. Do a test with just 1 line of data.
It's the column headers that MUST be correct (and NO SPACES at the end of the either, i.e. "v_products_model ").

What version of PHP are you using? PHP4 can act strange with array_flip(). You should ask your host to upgrade you to PHP5 if you are on still on PHP4. There are a couple of other PHP4 related issues also.
Alternatively, the first line of your CSV file is "wrong". PM or attach a copy of your CSV file and I'll look at it.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hi. I installed EasyPopulate per instructions, but I must have done something wrong. It seems to have installed correctly from the zen admin tool, I click on Tools | Easy Populate 4, and it loads the EP page.
When I click the upload button, I'm shot straight to my ZC Admin login page. Even if I manually upload the file to the temp directory, when i click import it does the same thing. I'm confused!

I have seen this happen when zencart was installed via a CPANEL script, and the url's for the store were improperly recorded in the config.php files.
Check your configuration files and look for something like this: http://www.mystore.com//myadmin
See that second pair "//" ??? That should only be one like this: http://www.mystore.com/myadmin
I saw this very recently with another user and was able to fix it with just a few clicks to correct cofigure.php, just be sure to fix both copies in the admin and includes directories.
This will also mess with EP 1.2.5.4 which has come up from time to time. If this isn't the cause, I'd have to look at your install. You can PM me and I'll see what I can do to help.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hi, thanks for your help. You were right, there were numerous extra "/" in the configure files. I've corrected them and at least it doesn't shoot me back to the login screen anymore! However, when I click import this time - of the example files in the EP folder, I get:
Code:
SKIPPED: model not found:TEST RGB
SKIPPED: model not found:TEST CMYK
Code:
SKIPPED: model not found:TEST 1
SKIPPED: model not found:TEST 2

Those two example files are for the basic attribute importing only. You would first have to create those products, and then import attributes to them.
Add a category and product normally through the zencart admin, then do a full export. This will give you your file format and column headers.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Ok, it is properly creating the export .csv file, and I can download it manually via ftp. If I left click the "Download" link I get a 500 error, and if I right click the Download link and do a "save as" the file is filled with the same 500 error. So, I believe it has something to do with adding the proper permissions in my .htaccess file, in the temp directory. I read something in the instructions about adding "allow" in my .htaccess file for .txt and .csv files, but I'm not sure what code I need to add to my .htaccess file to accomplish this.
Thanks!

You can put an .htaccess in your temp folder (say under your secret admin). This has worked for me (someone may have a cleaner version):
Code:
DirectoryIndex index.php
# deny *everything*
<FilesMatch ".*\..*">
Order Allow,Deny
# Deny from all
</FilesMatch>
# but now allow just *certain* necessary files:
<FilesMatch "(^$|^favicon.ico$|.*\.(php|js|css|jpg|gif|png|csv|txt|log)$)">
Order Allow,Deny
Allow from all
</FilesMatch>
IndexIgnore */*
# The following makes adjustments to the SSL protocol for Internet Explorer browsers
<IfModule mod_setenvif.c>
<IfDefine SSL>
SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE.*" \
nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown \
downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0
</IfDefine>
</IfModule>

Go to Configuration -> Easy Populate 4 and set "Upload/Download Prices Include Tax" to true. Test that and let me know if that works for you as expected.

Your data structure looks fine.
However, you will need to use unique v_products_model numbers. Each of the 3 records in the data had the same products_model. What happens in this instance is that each successive duplicate over writes the previous record's data.
The ONE exception (and it needs careful checking) is where you want to LINK a product to another category. To do this you would duplicate the record as is, and then ONLY change the Category. Best to keep those records together.
Your host should upgrade for free. PHP 4 has been deprecated and there is really no reason to not upgrade. I would even hazard to guess that your php predates 4.2... If your host won't upgrade, look for a new provider. No reason to be running php 4.

Thanks, I will contact my ISP. I know they are doing an upgrade to the Linux OS next week so I will see if PHP is getting updated as well and then try again. Thanks for the information on the products_model. All of the existing products have the same model so I will know going forward to change that and then work to change those already listed.

Basically, in your include/configure.php files, your host app that installed zen cart may have inadvertently inserted a bunch of extra "/"'s in all the paths. If your address looks like http://example.com//admin when you access your admin interface, then that's probably the case. if it is, you need to go through both of your configure files, line by line and delete all the extra "/"s.

I did check my configure and found obout 4 instances of // and the end of the url's. All of the rest has just one /'

You should check it again. You have to change file permissions to overwrite it. Try doing it through your cpanel's file browser. Set permissions to 777, download it and fix the fubar'd urls, then change back the permission after uploading the corrected file.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Thanks a million I got it fixed wowwwww!!!!!. I am trying to upload the my products that I had on another zencart site to this one but when I tried to do 20 items only one was uplaoded and the photo is not showing. It says it was a successfull upload but only one shows up in my catagory.
Do i need to name the catagories on the new site before I uplaod?
I did not have any model numbers on them and added them will that cause a problem

Not sure I understand this last part. You uploaded 20 records with out any model numbers? You have to have unique model number for each line item. This was covered just a few entries back.
Make sure you specify your images path correctly, remember that images/ is assumed:
sample.jpg -> yourstore.com/images/sample.jpg BUT
/tabletop/sample.jpg -> yourstore.com/images/tabletop/sample.jpg
Of course, you need to upload your images to the /images directory using your ftp program. Hope this helps.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Ok I understand on the images I am uplaoding the images that were on the other site.
What happened I was trying to upload 20 items to the new site I did not have any model numbers but have now added then to the 20 items. The problem is only one is showing up in my catagories out of the 20 i uploaded. It was the last item out of the 20. Why is this happening?

Attach your file. I'm sure you have something wrong in there.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
They must be unique = different for each item. This was covered just a few posts back as to what happens in this case. Each subsequent record is over writing the last since each model number is the same.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Thanks alot man I got it to work all is well. Guess i am going have learn some excel to to input some function in the colomns of the model numbers to change all of them.
One last question is there a new version of the google feeder for me to use. I was using one but got error feed code everytime I tried to view it.
Thanks again

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hi,
I wanted to change some descriptions just now but I'm having trouble. I did a full export, found the products I wanted to update, deleted all columns except v_products_model and v_products_description_1, changed my descriptions and imported, but the descriptions aren't changing on the site, even though it's showing as updated when I import.
Not entirely sure what the problem is, but I know EP's working as I used it this morning to update stock levels.
I use OpenOffice rather than Excel.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
I would like to use easy populate with zencart 1.5 It seems this is not supported at this time. I can't seem to find anything on this. Does anyone know if there is a version of easy populate or similar that will work in 1.5 or will I need to install 1.3.9 Thanks in advance

Google Base Feeder has been replaced by Numinix's Google Merchant Center. New requirements by Google pretty much mean you also need to convert your store to UTF-8.

Igi,
You happened upon a slight "issue" with that part of the import. When you JUST want to update descriptions, you will also need your v_products_name_1 and possibly v_products_url.
I do intend to split those out so they can be updated individually, but haven't had time. Will try to get it in the next update at github. It was just something I never did myself, but it has come up before so I'll make it more flexible.

Lenpilot,
Please read the first post in this thread carefully for use of EasyPopulate 4.0 Beta which IS compatible with Zencart 1.5.
You should also use Dr. Bytes MySQL Backup mod which was recently updated to work with Zencart 1.5.

Thanks for the explanation - now I think of it I do remember having a similar issue a while back.
Great addon by the way, I couldn't do without it.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hi! Thanks for taking this project on. It is sorely needed.
I have EP4 installed and I've reformatted my input to match what it needs and ran an import. I have an issue.
There must be something wrong with my setup as every task I do requires me to login again. ie: I login, go to EP4, click import on a file I've ftp'd up there and it takes me to login before doing the task. If I click on choose file to use EP to upload the file, then click import, it takes me to login. We are on a test system, so if you want to see it happen, I'll get you the logins, just let me know where I can send a private message to you.
thanks

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hi Lori,
You must have installed Zencart via a Cpanel script, correct? This has been covered in more detailed earlier, but basically you will have to edit both your configure.php files...
You will need to find instanaces where http://www.yourstore.com//youradmin should be http://www.yourstore.com/youradmin
See the second // ??? That should only be one /
Look back a couple pages. You will have to change permissions on the file before editing, and set back when done.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hi - thanks for the quick reply! Sorry, no, I used filezilla to ftp the files there. I checked both configure.php files and don't see any mention of the admin folder. Wish it were that easy :( It must be something else I did.
Could it be because our server name on this test instance is still a IP address and not a domain yet?
While I have you - any chance you would enable something to make EP4 ignore model numbers and just treat every record as a new one? We don't assign any and some of our data has them, some doesn't - so I will be writing a routine to assign unique numbers to our almost 2 million products.....the older EP version we used, didn't care about the model numbers.
thanks again!

You have two "configure.php" files. One will be in your admin directory (what ever you named it) "yourstore.com/youradmin/includes/configure.php"
and another for the store front: "yourstore.com/includes/configure.php"
EP4 work just fine with IP's, but you need to ensure that your configure.php files are correct. I am working on a new store myself and using only IP and have no issues. Are you on zencart 1.5 or 1.39?
What version of EP where you using to allow no products_model? 3.0.3 Adv from Langer? I MAY be able to do this in the future but that is a ways off. I have to complete attributes first which is a BIG job.
2 million products? You beat out my last big data set which was 900,000!

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
hey - thanks again for your quick reply - it helps a lot!
I went to my public_html folder and did a recursive search (grep) for the name of my admin folder and didn't find it anywhere. I had checked both configure.php files already. We are using a brand new ZC 1.5 installation. Am I missing some variables that I need in one of the configure.php files maybe?
In our 1.3.9 stores, we use the EP 3.03 from zencartbuilder.com. That may be langer. This is our first attempt at 1.5 and we are considering waiting a few more months to make sure everything is ready. I seem to keep running into problems and our 1.3.9 stores are working pretty well now.
Yes, we have 8, working on 12, stores and all total probably have almost 5 million products. Most of the stores have around half a million each.
Gotta say we LOVE geekhost.ca, they have been a huge help at getting us running smoothly with such large stores.

You have to have an admin folder! But someone MUST have changed if you are using 1.5 because it's mandatory.
When you log in to your admin you MUST be doing something like: 58.125.36.445/some_mysterious_admin_name_without_admin_in_the_name
Does that give you a clue? Sorry, being a bit tongue-n-cheek here.
Your situation is probably more complex than for an open thread. Drop me a PM and I'll see what I can do for you off thread.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Not sure if it's why she can't find it, but in 1.50 the name of the admin folder doesn't appear in the configure.php file.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
This is probably blindingly obvious but I am struggling to include a category description on import.
I have a number of new products (unique model numbers) which I am importing into sub categories (also created on import) with a
'v_categories_name_1' for the first four products looking like this:
Existing Category1^New Category1
Existing Category2^New Category1
Existing Category3^New Category1
Existing Category4^New Category1
......
There is no 'v_categories_description_1' column (which granted may not be of use) so I can't see how to include a description for the newly created New Category1
Any suggestions?

Hi Simon,
The Full products import doesn't allow you to set the categories descriptions. I may not even do that in the near future from the sheer complexities of multi-lingual categories.
However, here is a solution! You will use the "Categories Only (with Metatags)" download. BUT YOU MUST BE CAREFUL! This code works off the categories_id, so you have to make sure you do not add, delete or change categories between download, editing and uploading your categories descriptions AND meta-tags. You can also specify your categories_image!
I thought that would be a good addition to the program. You just have to be careful how you use this tool.
Please let me know if you run into any snags. It has been some time since I've tested that code, so please be sure to use Dr. Byte's MySQL backup tool between updates and carefully check your updated info for accuracy.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Chadd,
Thanks for a great mod! I have installed 4.0 Beta on ZC 1.5.0. The install and first import went very well, Thanks!
I have one small issue; I have several product admins who have limited access to the admin. I gave them access to both EZ Populate menu items and they are able to get to /configuration/EZ Populate 4 with no problems. However, attempting to use /tools/EZ Populate 4 throws the following:
Sorry, your security clearance does not allow you to access this resource.
Please contact your site administrator if you believe this to be incorrect.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
Any thoughts on this?
Thank you in advance!

Actually, I haven't messed with the admin profiles in 1.5 at all. I will have to look into it to see if I can duplicate your issue. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Chadd
I understand what you're describing, however, although the CategoryMeta file lists the newly created sub-directories there is no way to determine their parent category.
I can see this is because they are appended to the bottom of the category list. As, in my case, each sub category has the same name but a description dependent on its parent, what would be useful is to sort the csv file so that the sub comes after its parent (which, no doubt is easier said than done!).
cheers

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
G'day Chadd,
I have a situation where I need to export all products from a 1.3.9h install (the donor) to a brand new 1.5 site (the recipient).
On the donor I have EP1.2.5.4 installed and working fine. I am planning to install EP4.0 on the recipient.
I understand that the two EP's are not compatible - am I right?
My plan is to put EP4.0 on the donor, do the export and then import all and sundry into the recipient.
Do I need to uninstall EP1.2.5.4 from the donor before I can install EP4.0 or can the 2 EP's exist happily side-by-side?
What do you think?
Thanks / Frank

As, in my case, each sub category has the same name but a description dependent on its parent, what would be useful is to sort the csv file so that the sub comes after its parent (which, no doubt is easier said than done!).
Simon
Hi Simon,
If you'd like, put that in as an "issues" request on my github page. Adding the category path may or may no be easy. Haven't looked at that in some time. I did ponder adding the full path, but it did entail more complexity.
In the mean time, you can see which is the correct category id to edit under Catalog > Categories/Product. The ID column matches what is export by EP4.

Hi Frank,
EP4 will install completely independent of 1.2.5.4 so you can run both at the same time. However, you must be aware that the FILES that are exported by each version are NOT compatible ... at least not with some work involved. So you do not need to uninstall your 1.2.5.4 version, just don't mix your files up!
Hope that helps!

Thanks for your reply chadd, I'll get by with manual editing on this one.
btw - having looked through this thread a number of times, I've noticed some questions get asked, and answered, more than once. All credit to you for being so patient!

Thanks,
I'll check on the URL issue, but for google you'll want to use Numinix's Google Merchant Center.

I'm having a problem with Numinix Google Merchant Center. Its timing out, or hanging when I generate the Product Feed which is why I installed this module.
I used the old version of Easy Populate (Free and Paid) and it generated a file that had all the info I needed. This version also has that info except the product url.
Let me know what you find out about the Product URL.
Great job on this module.
Thanks,

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
This one has me stumped.
ZC 1.5 installed on Bluehost.
Installed Adons:
Image Thumbnails
Sales tax summary
Ez Populate 4.0
When I go to download any of the CSV files I end up on OpenDNS with the search term filled in with "temp/Full-EP2012Mar07-101120.csv"
I've reinstalled EZ Populate multiple times with no help.
Any suggestions?

Hi there
Is there a way to assign a product to a sub-category by inserting the categories' ID number, insted of writting the whole category?

No. Categories, and sub-categories are all Identified by name.

Thanks chadderuski, I'll get with Bluehost and see if they can change that for me.

Mike, this isn't a Bluehost issue, it's your local router's DNS server IP's. Do you have Comcast? Did you change your name servers at some point in the past? I was using OpenDNS in the past because it was faster than comcast, but switched to google's when OpenDNS started to have serious issues of late.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Is it possible to have v_products_id included in the export?
Thanks,

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Joe,
It should be possible - see chadderuski's post here:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...9&postcount=47
I've just done this for another field today and it works perfectly.

Hey Joe!
Just keep one thing in mind... while you can do this for exporting the products, there is no logic on the import side for dealing with v_products_id.

Hi Woody,
Did you use OpenOffice to export your CSV file? Excel does not work well for export CSV files, and they don't import correctly with EP4 - something I'll try to address in the future.
Did you do a Full import, and if so, what were the ouput stats at the bottom?

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hi, I just use Microsoft excel and save as csv file as the old EP. I clicked on "Choose file (under Upload EP file)" then chose relevant csv file then clicked upload. I got the counter showing uploading ...% up to 100% at the very bottom of the screen then at the top left the green bar showing "File Uploaded successfully" with the name of the csv file. Any help you can give would be much appreciated. Ive got a huge product list needs uploading, bit like a sitting duck at the mo, dont fancy spending 25 years putting them on 1 by 1 :)

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
I think I may have found the problem, I have downloaded from the site and the layout differs on the EP4 csv than my old EP csv file. There is no option for category_1, category_2, category_3 and so on, on the new one where I need this for my listings. For example, I sell inks so it would be Category_1 = Ink Cartridge, Category_2 = Epson Ink, Category_3 = Epson R285 ink and then on to the product.
New EP4 layout as below:
v_products_model
v_products_image
v_products_name_1
v_products_description_1
v_products_url_1
v_specials_price
v_specials_date_avail
v_specials_expires_date
v_products_price
v_products_weight
v_product_is_call
v_products_sort_order
v_products_quantity_order_min
v_products_quantity_order_units
v_date_avail
v_date_added
v_products_quantity
v_manufacturers_name
v_categories_name_1
v_tax_class_title v_status
v_metatags_products_name_status
v_metatags_title_status
v_metatags_model_status
v_metatags_price_status
v_metatags_title_tagline_status
v_metatags_title_1
v_metatags_keywords_1
v_metatags_description_1
Old EP layout on next page!

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Ah, you didn't say you were using export from old EP.
First off, you need to use OpenOffice to export your CSV. Read the first couple posts in this thread over carefully. Excel will not work correctly.
Second. You first UPLOAD a file, then IMPORT from the link to the right of the file name.
I go into most all of this in the first several posts. Categories done very differently in EP4 since I have mulit-lingual capable category import.
v_categories_1 is for english .... categories names are concatenated with the ^ (caret) So If you have two categories like Barware -> Scoops, you would enter them like "Barware^Scoops"
I hope that helps.

I've been using your EP4 since our email exchange some time ago; using in conjunction with my former EP which allows me to add fields and do attributes the way we're used to. EP4 is my go-to version, especially since it lets me work on specific categories.
Anyway, I haven't had OpenOffice for few years now and have not noticed a problem with excel. Maybe I will?

That's some good news. Which version of excel are you using and which csv export? I have not had the time to test ALL the versions/platforms to ensure compatibility.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Thanks Chadd, looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel. This a lot of hair I have just saved from not pulling it out with frustration! Thanks for your help. I noticed the ^ when i checked in the downloaded csv file. Looks like I need to play about with my database a fair bit now its changed. Its a bit of a paiin keep typing ^ for each next category, looks like ill have to add my columns together in excel each with a ^ not as simple and quick for me now im afraid compared to the old version. Thanks for the info it at least will get my new products on the site.

If you are converting your category columns from EP 1.2.5.4, you can simply add a new column, then use the concatenate function in excel.
Something like this: =concatenate(A34,"^",B34,"^",C34,"^",D34,"^",E34)
Now insert a new column named v_categories_1 and copy the concatenated column, but paste-special and select "values". This will paste the character data.
Now you will combine all your combined categories, but will also give you some doubled ^^ (or more) for the empty column entries. Hilight your v_categories_1 column and do a search for ^^ and replace with ^. I haven't done this for a while, but you may also have to trim the last column.
Now, better than doing the above.... Install EP4 on your old store (you can have both versions installed without issue) and do your export with EP4 and all the problems you are having are pretty much solved :p

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
First of all I have to say that this mod is awesomely fast and a pleasure to work with. Having said that I am having an issue.
My first attempt at uploading I used the same column format as earlier EP's. All looked good and normal except of course it only created the first category and ignored v_categories_name_2 etc. I reread the notes and this thread and changed to the category1^category2^category3 format. This fixed the categories but now none of my images work. They worked before I changed the categories format and that was the only change I made.
I have tried both OO and Excel with no difference.

How did you delete your "bad data" ??? If you did it from within the Admin categories manager, it ALSO deletes all your images requiring your to once again FTP them to your server.
