Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
My search bar is just below the spot it is supposed to be. I uploaded a stock stylesheet file and made the changes to it that I was instructed in the post above. Just wondering if anyone could tell me what I could do to position it in line with the blue menu bar. lhalsportscards.com

It looks fine in firefox. What browser are you using?

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hello Anne I am loving the template and I'm almost there with it but I have a couple of questions - on my front page under my blurb there is a heading for Specials and they are just not showing up there - I know it must be something to do with my configuration but for the life of me can't work out what.
Additionally I want to set up a solution for spam through the contact me but am unsure which files to change as there is also a contact form in the header ( I have read another thread about this on the forums http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...p+spam+message)
Finally just a heads up for others really- I edited the header text and had an apostrophe in my text and it didn't like it at all and my site wouldn't load-I removed the ' and it works just fine now - maybe a cure is to use ALT146 but i didn't actually try that I just changed what I said my site is chrislinacre.co.uk
Thanks and I must say well done for a fantastic template with superb instructions for setting it up :)

Try changing which tab shows by default. See this thread:
http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...72#post1134272
I would recommend installing the google recaptcha module for spam control.
In php you want to escape apostrophe's with a \.

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hi Anne
Hope you are well? The new site is coming along now www.johnwoodsmotorcare.net. I've attempted to get the logo to display properly on the top of the page but for some reason, no matter what I do in the header.php file the 'search' box and links bar cut off the bottom of the logo? See Screen capture below.
http://www.johnwoodsmotorcare.net/JW...wmcscrncap.jpg
I've tried allsorts of different hight/width settings in the file but to no avail!
// added defines for header alt and text
define('HEADER_ALT_TEXT', 'John Woods Motorcare :: Modern and Classic MG Parts');
define('HEADER_SALES_TEXT', 'www.johnwoodsmotorcare.net');
define('HEADER_LOGO_WIDTH', '445px');
define('HEADER_LOGO_HEIGHT', '200px');
define('HEADER_LOGO_IMAGE', 'jwmc_final_logo_banner.png');
Are you able to advise?

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hi Anne,
Thanks again for your wonderful template!
I have two minor issues.
#1
The first is associated with the addition of Lightbox to my cart. The problem is that if a visitor clicks on a product picture, the template's search box remains on top of the slide show.
You can duplicate the problem by going to the following link (remove the ****), clicking on the product image, then scrolling right until you find a wide image:
http://2staging.ap****swit****tcosal...e_Testing_Demo
You use really high z-index values! I can find the one controlling the search box (in the stylesheet.css), but when I make the value lower, it disappears behind the blue bar. Where do I find the z-index for the blue menu bar? :)
#2
On the same product page (see link above), I would like to move the social media bar. Currently it is directly above the additional product pages, but I think it might better below the grid of additional images or maybe directly under the product name headline.
Where does the social media reference live?
Thanks,
Mike

You can find the z-index for the mega menu in stylesheet_mega_menu.css
You can use the developers toolkit in admin--tools--developers toolkit to search for the files that you need to edit. Edit the includes/templates/sheffield_blue/templates/tpl_product_info.php file to move things around on the product info page.
Thanks,
Anne

Hello I'm newbie on the use of zen cart, but I'm an IT guy so I think that I understand the use of it. Your template is great and I'm convinced that I'll use it on my website, but i'm having some troubles switching languages spanish/english.
I'm using zencart 1.3.9 and I already completed the setup of the spanish language and I verified this language is working on the "Classic Contemporary Green template". I followed the steps on your readme file to configure the template. When I browse the website in english everything appers correct (screen attached) but when I switch to spanish there is some issues on the screen. If you have any idea abut the cause please let me know. Regards and congratulations por the great template design.

As with any template, you need to copy any files used in the languages directory of the template package to your new language and translate them.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
I am just getting this installed and have a few questions.
1) How do I get the main page to display the new or featured or specials on load instead of having to wait for visitor to click them?
2) When putting an item in shopping cart it is nearly impossible to remove the item. It shows it is removed but it comes back upon a page refresh.
(this problem only occurs when someone is logged in)
Excellent template. I love it!

For the first question, you can try changing the tab that shows by default:
http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...72#post1134272
The second question is not a template specific problem.

Thought it would be helpful if I followed up with some details.
In case anybody else has the same issue (search box on menu bar appearing above lightbox), you actually have to make z-index changes in two files:
• stylesheet.css ---> Look for the 2 'navMainSearch' references (I changed to 9000 & 9001, respectively)
• stylesheet_mega_menu.css ---> Look for 'mega-wrapper' (I changed to 7999)
Thanks again!

I would strongly recommend making your logo much shorter in height. It will help your conversion rate greatly if customers do not have to scroll down the page so far to find your products.

You can adjust the positioning using css and editing the stylesheet.css file. I would recommend using firefox and installing the firebug developers extension. It will tell you exacly which line in the stylesheet needs to be edited.
If you post a link to your site I can take a look.
Thanks,

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hi Anne
Sorry to trouble you again!
Are you able to assist with the following issue I'm having? The site is displaying perfectly in Firefox, Opera etc but in IE it's not centered and the font is enlarged. The problem is I cant recall ever checking the site in IE as I've always used Firefox. See screenshots below:-
http://www.johnwoodsmotorcare.net/JWMC_ShopSite/
FireFox
http://www.johnwoodsmotorcare.net/JW...ox_800x484.JPG
IE
http://www.johnwoodsmotorcare.net/JW...IE_800x484.JPG
I've googled until my eyes hurt but I can't seem to find the right answer as to what is causing the issue in IE.
Many thanks
Mark

Hi Anne
I've spend some time going through all the .CSS files and the only differences are:-
Testimonial Manager add-on added following to stylesheet below /*bof attributes*/.........
/*bof attributes*/
.attribImg {width: 20%;margin: 0.3em 0em;}
.testimonial {
color: #000;
padding: 0 5px 5px 5px;
text-align:left;
}
.testimonial p {
margin: 0; padding: 5px 0;
}
.testimonial span {
float:right;
}
.testimonialImage {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
text-align: center;
}
Other files in CSS folder that were not part of installation (they have been added by add-on's at at some point in the sites development)
stylesheet_zen_lightbox.css (from Lightbox Add-on)
style_jscroller.css (from scrolling sidebox add-on)
testimonials_add.css (from Testimonial Add-on)
testimonials_manager.css (from Testimonial Add-on)
Unfortunately I can't recall the last time I'd checked the site on IE. Rather than methodically uninstall and re-install we've decided to live with the issue on IE browsers until we have the time to figure it all out!

The error code I get from IE is:-

I would take a look at the addons you have installed since this error is not in the template demo.
You can solve your ie cross browser problems if you follow the instructions in my last post.

Hi Anne
I've tried some debugging on the IE issue and get the message 'expected identifier, string or number at line 79' :-
The debugging window brought up the following with line 79 being the last line.
<!--bof social networking sidebar-->
<script src="includes/templates/sheffield_blue/jscript/jquery.sidebar.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">

position: "left", // left / bottom / right / top
fadding : "0.5", // 0.1 to 1.0
//img: "images/twitter.png",
//openURL : "www.twitter.com/"
});
I'm not an expert on this! Are you able to help with what the error is?
Thanks

Thanks

I thought it best if I actually include some of the code from the following lines after line 79, I've written 'LINE79' where IE debugging is telling me the error is.

You can make these changes using css and by editing the stylesheets. If you will be doing these types of changes I would recommend doing a google search for a beginner css tutorial and using firebug.
Thanks,

Hi Anne, thanks for the response. I'm slowly learning! I do have other issues with the site now, blank pages after adding an item or clicking on checkout etc. Have searched all of the threads on here and am attempting to fix that now! Might end up starting all over again and not rushing the installation of add-ons!

Yes, and be sure to keep backups after each module install so that you can go back easily if needed ;-)

I'm getting nowhere fixing the blank page error. Read all the advice on here for the error in the log file :-
[20-Mar-2013 20:12:08 Europe/London] PHP Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/johnwood/public_html/JWMC_ShopSite/includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/sheffield_blue/define_page_6.php:1) in /home/johnwood/public_html/JWMC_ShopSite/includes/functions/functions_general.php on line 45
Have checked all extra pages that I've added and their associated files. Can't find anything wrong with them. Some extra info posted by DrByte on the error states "It would seem that you have something running in a template file which is trying to do a redirect *after* the page has started drawing ... hence the "headers already sent" message appearing when the redirect header-change function gets called. "
Again I can't seem to find what that is!

This is definitely related to an extra page you have added--page 6. There is an error. Recheck to be sure that you have added the define page correctly. Also check line 1 of the file to see if you have a hidden or other strange character.
Thanks,
Anne

You can change the background of the popups using css and adding your rule to the stylesheet.css file.
To make footer changes, edit the includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/sheffield_blue/footer_menu_defines.php.

Hi Anne
Found it. I was missing </div> from the end of the code on Page 6! Am not going to mess around anymore with it all! Can't believe something like that was causing blank pages on 'Add Item', 'Checkout' and 'Remove Item' ;-)

Are there any specifics I need to bear in mind if I look at installing UltimateSEO on the site? I know it totally contradicts my 'no more add-ons' comment above but this is something that is wanted on the site!

The other thing is on the left side of the template I got a white edge of the background popped out of the template causing a malformation and distortion, My question is where in .css file I could fix those two problems?

On all IE 7 + ... v. I have this problem, I know that the problem on firefox, Google Chrome.. is not existing but I have to fix it on IE because as I still believe that IE is one of the main internet browsers in the world at the moment, although it's not my favorites! By the way , How to use the css file ? should I just uploaded it on the server where I have the CSS's directory inside the Sheffield Blue's Template ? and then, how does it work in term of the problem I have?

Do you mean that:
USAGE
1. Copy and paste the line below, inside <head> and </head> tag
<script src="css_browser_selector.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
2. Set CSS attributes with the code of each browser/os you want to hack
Examples:
html.gecko div#header { margin: 1em; }
.opera #header { margin: 1.2em; }
.ie .mylink { font-weight: bold; }
.mac.ie .mylink { font-weight: bold; }
.[os].[browser] .mylink { font-weight: bold; } -> without space between .[os] and .[browser]
It doesn't say anything to me ! First I'm not that expert, second Which < head> tags you are talking about ! There are many of them on my tamplate ?

The call for the browser selector script is already included in the template package.
You will put your new rules for example in as: .ie8 selector{declaration}
Thanks,
Anne

OK, I looked into the the template package for the browser selector script but I couldn't find it ! any way I don't think this script will fix my problem I just need to resize the height of the header and remove the white space on the left side of my zencart on IE browser !

Yes, you will do this in your stylesheet.css file using the syntax I have already described that uses the browser selector javascrtipt.

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hi Anne
Had an issue earlier today with the site going slow. Did some research and came across this thread:-
http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...y-slow-!/page2
Person was using Sheffield Blue also. I followed the advice on the thread and it did the trick.
Just thought I'd point it out in this thread as a possible solution for future queries on the template ;-)
Thanks

Thanks for posting. I have just noticed a problem with the site hosting this jquery today. Another option would be to save the jscript and upload it to your zen cart so that it is hosted locally.

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
I submitted a post back in January but it seems to have been overlooked - probably because of the number of posts at the time. I love the template but if you go to phillumeny.eu, you will see that after my Home Page, the categories module becomes extensively occupied. I would like to be able to separate the subsections by either changing the colour of the text (preferably) or by strengthening the dotted lines between one section and the next. Can you or any other members advise how this can be done?

Make your changes using css and editing the stylesheet_betterCategoriesEzInfo.css stylesheet.
You may also want to take a look at the categories dressing module.

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hello,
Love the template. I seem to be having an issue with my top navigation. It is covering up part of my logo. When I add a tagline it shifts down, but then leaves a white space between the logo and the navigation bar? I'm sure there is a simple fix, but I feel I have looked everywhere!
Thanks!

Then you should apply the fix only to the index_home.css file.

Are you able to help with what I'd need to do to put a hidden field on the hover box option of the Contact Us section of Sheffield Blue template as I'm still getting a few spam messages a day through that?

This will be basic css styling. I would recommend using Firefox and firebug to help you find the exact lines that need to be edited. I recommend this css tutorial:

Thanks Anne for your advice but I don't have time to learn the basic CSS from the A to Z at the moment, What I need is someone using the same template and has adjusted the Quantity Discounts table to show a better layout ! That's it, simple.. Thanks again for your time !
