Hi Anne - I must have broken something. On your demo, EZ Pages work just fine, but on my testing site only the title shows up - the body is blank and the footer is totally missing. What could I have messed up? Please help!

Whenever you have a blank page or part of a blank page check your /logs folder for errors and correct them. See the FAQ's section of this site for a tutorial about blank pages.

Thanks Anne! There was indeed an error, it callsed the default template file tpl_page_default.php. I know nothing about coding, so I "fixed" the problem by merely copying my (customized) tpl_page_default.php from the Classic "templates" directory to its Carlisle Fresh equivalent, and EZ Pages now display correctly. Before I go too far, do you foresee any potential trouble that merely copying this file might cause someplace else? It was the plain, non-responsive Classic template that I copied it from...

You should not copy files from one template to another. If you need to restore a file it is best to copy from the template_default directory.

There is no tpl_page_default.php file in the original template package. See the readme.html file in the template package or the template package itself for a list of files.

Hi Anne - good point. I think I'm ok here, though, there was no tpl_page_default.php in the original Classic installation, either, so the file I copied must have originally come from the template_default directory. Now I also vaguely recall having the same blank body problem with EZ pages when I first started using Zen Cart a few months ago, I bet the code modification in tpl_page_default.php is the fix for this very problem and hopefully won't break anything else (so far it hasn't).

I have my last ( i hope ) question to you also regarding the banners :D
I now have them just the way i like it ( thanks again!) but i so much want more than 5 of them. For our business they are important and can be a lot more.
I tried changing it in the js file, but no success, and in the admin you can only change 5 of them. Where can I change the number of banners ( you call them carslides)? thank you upfront!

Hi Anne - I broke something again (groan). The featured products carousel was working great at the beginning. Now, when I click the < > buttons, instead of displaying the next set of products, it behaves as if I had clicked the "back to top" button, and the url in the address bar gets /# appended to it. You can see the behavior at http://test.allstringsnylon.info - what should I check for? (This does not generate any error logs or messages.)

You would have to create additional banner groups and then add the code to the tpl_home_slider.php file.

Wow! That is really strange. I would recommend back tracking through your customizations one step at a time until you figure out what you did to break it. You could also download the plugin from the plugins section and get the file list for that module and then re-upload the matching files from the template package.

Stranger yet - when I set "Layout Settings -> Always Show Categories on Main Page" to 0, carousel works fine, when that setting is 1, carousel <> buttons act like back to top. Any idea what might be causing this? ~m

Good catch! The template is designed for categories to not show on the main page. If you want categories to show on the main page and the carousel to work you will need to customize the tpl_index_categories.php.

You also need to add them to the database. See the patch included in the template package for a guide.

Dear Anne,
As much as i want to, and how many times i tried, i can not get it to work!
The carslide and the only 5 banners will just pop up in the admin. and when adding to the database, i get a warning that i have a mistake. I even tried only changing the names of the banners ( the jpg files) and that won't work.
I'm right now desparate to find an sollution to change and add my own more than 5 banners to your lovely template!

I and others have added additional banner groups with no problems. It is not a problem with the template that you can not add the additional groups.

Hi Anne,

Firstly thank you for another amazing template. I have just been testing it and have hit a couple of problems.

I have customized the design so that the body is a grey colour and the main-container is off white. When viewing this on an iPad the Mega Menu now overlaps the left hand side of the main-container when the device is held portrait. Is there a way of correcting this? Please see attached screenshot.

Also the logo and sales text on my site is quite large and on an iPad the shopping cart links overlay the logo and sales text. Is there a way to make the logo and sales text responsive so that they reduce in size on smaller devices?

Finally I have noticed that rharbour has updated the Responsive Template Default contribution. Do you have plans to incorporate the updates into your templates?

Yes, I will be updating all of the responsive templates and legacy templates to use the new responsive template default.

You will need to make your adjustments for ipad to the includes/templates/carlisle_fresh/css/responsive.css file.

Still loving the template, thank you! Almost ready for launch, but just discovered the following issue, I hope you can help me solve it.

I want the login/cart/checkout links in navMain to overlap my header (the "logo" image takes up the entire header). In stylesheet.css, I assigned z-index:1 to #headerWrapper (and for good measure also to #logoWrapper and #logo), and z-index:99999 to #navMainWrapper (as well as #navMain and #navMain ul). In Firefox and Opera, this looks good - the header image is behind the login/cart/checkout text and icons as intended, and the links work as desired. However, in Chrome and Safari, the header image obscures the login/cart/checkout text and icons, making them invisible (although the actual links do appear in my status bar when I move my mouse over where I'd expect the text and icons to be). What's causing this and how do I fix that?

This undoubtedly is one of the most elegant and clean templates.
The aspect ratio of the slideshow images is part of it, and it is very cool... but it may be unpractical for standard product images.
Any hints on how the slideshow image size can be changed?

The idea of the slide show is to create banner ads that highlight products, services, etc. The slide show is not really meant for just product images.

If you want to change the slideshow, you can edit the includes/templates/carlislie_fresh/common/tpl_home_slider.php file.

Yes, the template is great as is, but in my specific case being able to modify the aspect ratio was just what I needed to display some products.

I would recommend creating a few more general top categories that can hold your current top categories.

I used the manufacturers drop down (shop by size/type) in columns on this site:

or if you have literally thousands, I would turn off the brands drop down.

Hi Anne, it's me again!

I'm still working on this website and have installed a couple mods after your template, making sure not to overwrite any common files, just merge them as directed. I installed Image Handler 4, then Zen Light Box, then Multi Cross Sell and all are working. But my featured products carousel on the home page is now not working. It doesn't scroll like it should and when I click on either the forward or reverse arrow, it moves to the top of the page, rather than making the carousel move. I have five featured products and four appear in the main row, and one is pushed to a row beneath so the whole thing is just broken! Do you have any ideas why this could be happening? My website is www.beadelves.com.

I would recommend back tracking through your modifications until you find the point at which the carousel stopped working. Then you will know exactly which module or change you made is effecting it. It sounds to me like there is a javascript conflict.

I just looked back through all the mods and none of them touched any of the jscript files that were already in place on my site--could it still be a javascript issue if none of the original javascript files were changed? Could the issue be with javascript within php files that were modified? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm new to this whole javascript/php stuff.

It can still be a javascript issue even if the template js files are not changed. If it were my site, I would back track through my changes to find the point at which the carousel broke, then work from there.

Hi. Firstly i love the template! its really difficult now to make a choice of which we should use as there a number of very high quality ones so thank you! The only slight problem i have is this. The tab 'Brands'. Where do i add brands? or...how do i remove it completely? I have had success renaming it but adding any brands to it has got me stumped. I can see that other dropdown headings can be removed (such as 'contact us or ''newsletter' by adding 'display none') but there is no mention of how to do it with this as far as i can see.

There are instructions in the readme.html file for how to hide the brands drop down. The brands drop down will populate automatically once you have added manufacturers and then assigned them to your products.

Hi Anne,

Is this template compatible with 1.5.2 RC2? I am testing ZC 1.5.2 and when I upload Carlisle Fresh v1.1 it wants to overwrite \admin\layoutcontroller.php. If I allow it to overwrite this file, I cannot complete step 4 of your install instructions to reset the sideboxes. When I access the Layout Boxes Controller to complete the template installation as the following error occurs: "An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again."

Yes, it is compatible. If you read the readme.html file it does tell you that there is a core file overwrite and that you need to back up that file before installation.

I found out that the error was caused by my failure to install one of the sql patches. I installed responsive.sql and the error disappeared.

The template is great, I think it will end up working perfectly for what I need. Though I do have a couple quick questions I either couldn't fine, overlooked, or wasn't exactly sure how to fix.

1. How to remove "brands" from the menu. (I found the ability to do it hear, but it reformatted the menu size when I deleted it, so now sure what is correct. includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/sheffield_blue/headermenu.php)

2. How to remove "about us" from the customer service section at the bottom. (I have a feeling I just overlooked this)

3. Can the "links" text be removed from the bottom?

4. How to disable the "quick links" entirely.

1. How to remove "about us" links entirely

3. Remove the "links" section at the bottom (between customer service and follow us) Even just removing the text of "links" would be ok

4. How to disable the "quick links" entirely. (I turned off everything I could find, but it still shows when using on mobile)

I have used various of your responsive templates on different sites that I manage, with few problems. This is the first site I am using Carlisle Fresh on and find that when the site runs on a screen width of 1200 pix or wider, the centre column content drops down and displays under the left column. When I shrink screen width to under 1200 pix it corrects and as I continue shrinking, it again forces centre content down under left column content.

I have read your entire thread for this template and found reference to a similar problem but you said it was corrected with an update on 20 Sep 2013. I am using that version and still have this problem. Any ideas?

This is a bug in the tpl_header.php file. There is a corrected file posted in the responsive sheffield blue thread, but you would have to merge the changes. For now, the bug can be fixed by just adding a blank space to the tagline definition in the includes/languages/english/carlisle_fresh/header.php

1. Edit the includes/templates/carlisle_fresh/common/tpl_mega_menu.php and the includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/carlisle_fresh/footer_menu_defines.php

3. Edit includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/carlisle_fresh/footer_menu_defines.php or hide it using css

4. Edit includes/templates/carlisle_fresh/templates/tpl_modules_mobile_categories_tabs.php

If you want to make modifications to the template you should use the admin--tools--developers toolkit to find out which file you need to edit.

I'm going through the install, and in step 1. after loading clg_install.sql it says to go to Product Listing - Layout Style and select rows. I'm assuming that should be columns, since the patch is to change it columnar layout, and in step 7. you show it as being set to columns.

In step 7, under Responsive Settings, it says to Select 3, but the screen shot shows 2 selected.

Just installed Image Handler 4 and it's working perfectly for the Classic template.

However when I switch to Carlisle Fresh, the pop up for the "larger image" shows a small image instead of the larger image.

If I drag the popup window and make it larger, I see that image is the right larger version. But the window that is opened for it is very small and the image is resized to fit it.

Where do I go to fix what size the popup opens at?

Couple of things, issue is not related to the template, ih4 requires installation "per template" so fact that it works great with the default template means it was installed when the default template was active (assuming followed typical instructions), might I suggest either attempting to address the issues in the IH4 forum (search then post) or perhaps a new thread?

This is a known bug in the responsive code, it has been updated in several of the responsive packages but I do not think Anne has updated this one yet.

I have a problem though... it does not seem possible to use the megamenu with tablets so I'd like to switch to the mobiles menu when the width of the screen is appx.8.54 inches wide (the purpose is that when using a 10 inches tablet vertically the menu switches to the mobiles one)

This template was built using the old version of the DIY responsive default template and relies entirely on media queries. The new DIY template default code is much better and uses a php mobile detect script to detect the user agent and serve up the correct layout. You can either: wait to use this until I have updated the package to use the new code (no there is no eta on this), update the package yourself, use the template as is, or use another responsive template package that is using the php mobile detect script. I will tell you that updating the package is not a minor thing ;)

You could also replace the mega menu and use something like the slimmenu that is touch friendly on tablets and which changes to the mobile menu based on the screen width of 768 pixels or less.

First of all, let me say this is, as far as I know, the most beautiful, elegant and versatile Template for Zen Cart. A real masterpiece!

I have a question. I plan on use this template for my website and I am currently testing it offline, on my pc, changing some things and adding some plugins, but i couldn't do 1 thing in particular. In the main page, under the featured product, there's a slide that show 4 items. I know how to show 5 or even 6 items because I located the script code allowing that, but I need to have more than 1 slider, so i located the code and copied so it recalled the slider twice. But here's the problem: the first slider works well, the second it doesn't work. Well, it shows up in the main page but when i click on the prev or the next arrow, it seems like i've clicked on the "top" button.

Do you have any ideas what could this be? Thanks

I would recommend using firefox or chrome and installing the web developer tools. They will tell you the exact line of which file you need to make your edits.

It's really been an eye opener - especially as it doesn't affect the working web site. I've now identified nearly every section that I need. However - and there always seems to be a 'however' I haven't been able to find the css that changes the text type, size or colour in the categories column - is this located elsewhere? Your advice would be appreciated - Thank you

If you post a link to the page that you are trying to change I can take a look. If you are going to be making css changes to your site I would recommend using firefox or chrome and installing the web developer tools. They will help you locate the exact line of the file that needs to be edited.

You can use the above to target all top parent links. If you wanted specific control, just explain more of what you want such as having on the active parent link with a certain style or some other combination.

The first part will give you the links in red. I don't know what you mean by space lines. Do you mean the border color surrounding the link text? The second part changes the hover action. This is just an example of what you may want to style also to give the parent links a different look.

And for you subcategories on the right side, just change these in your main stylesheet. Its around line 276 and 277. Find these and change the styling:

I am running a clean install of v. 1.5.1 installed through GoDaddy.com

I am not a programmer/developer, etc...

I mistakenly ran the clg_install.sql 3 times. I used the Browse button in Admin>Tools>Instal SQL Patches. I selected the clg_install.sql file and when I hit the Upload button, it seemed that nothing happened because the area that had the file name now said, "No file selected". There was not a noticable indicator on the Admin screen that anything was actually uploaded. So, I repeated the process. I then noticed the activity bar at the very top of the Admin screen indicating the upload. I checked my log and it seems the file (Array) was sent 3 times.

I saw the warnings on the read me page about not running the patch more than once...so I am concerned. Should I uninstall? if so, how many times?

Will the Zen Cart Install SQL tool disregard the duplicate arrays on its own?

That patch is for the column layout grid module so as long as that module is working correctly, there is no need to un install etc.

I apologize if I am not posting this in the correct thread, but I am running into an issue with my Carlisle Fesh template installation. I am receiving a security error stating that only secure content is being displayed, in IE. Normally I would attribute this to myself not linking an image using my https, however, I just can't seem to find where this issue is coming from (I checked the image urls I added). I need a second set of eyes to see what I am not.

On what page(s) are you seeing this error? The maain page? Are the images locally hosted?
