The problem does not depend on the type of device you're using, it depends on the version of PHP that your Zen Cart is running on. If it's running on PHP 5.3 or later, the 'short-open tags' will result in a PHP error.

Yes, that is correct ;)

Just curious - but will add the changes anyway. :yes:
I would make the change too for the simple fact that it "future proof's" the code.. As more and more hosts are moving to PHP 5.3 or PHP 5.4 using PHP short tags will break the site..

Hmmm..... interesting.
My host runs PHP: 5.4.18 on the server.
I'm not sure what to expect if the tags are breaking, also someone has said they're not seeing any obvious errors when they use their smartphone - however they are not familiar with what to expect so wouldn't know if it was wrong.
He sent me this screenshot of the categories drop down off his phone, and it looks OK, but maybe I'm wrong, :unsure:

Right.. do whatever you think is best.. I replace short tags just as a rule of best practices because I know they aren't supported by newer versions of PHP.. You may opt to ignore this and leave things be.. whatever works for you..

Short tags are still being widely used and in most cases the errors won't prevent the site from displaying or working correctly, 5.4 introduced the short echo syntax and most hosts give the web owner the ability to enable or disable.

My guess would be that you do not have the template installed correctly. If you post a link to your site I can take a look.

Re: Stirling Grand Responsive Template
I've just installed your great template!
I've add a sql file into fresh 1.5.1, and "ACTIVATE Responsive Template by selecting Column Widths" menu was to 0 gid configuration (I change directly into phpmyadmin)
And if I active sideboxes/stirling_grand/ezpages_drop_menu.php into sidebox setting, I've this error on dropdown: WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again.

Re: Stirling Grand Responsive Template
The stirling_grand.sql file has a couple of configuration values that aren't being set properly, given that the "configuration_value" field is a variable-character one. In each case where the value is set to false, the configuration_value is set to 0; when set to true, the result is 1.
Code:
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = false WHERE configuration_key = 'PRODUCT_LIST_ALPHA_SORTER';
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = false WHERE configuration_key = 'PRODUCT_LIST_CATEGORIES_IMAGE_STATUS';
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = false WHERE configuration_key = 'PRODUCT_LIST_CATEGORIES_IMAGE_STATUS_TOP';
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = 0 WHERE configuration_key = 'PRODUCT_LIST_DESCRIPTION';
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = 0 WHERE configuration_key = 'PRODUCT_LIST_FILTER';
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = 1 WHERE configuration_key = 'PRODUCT_INFO_CATEGORIES_IMAGE_STATUS';
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = true WHERE configuration_key = 'USE_SPLIT_LOGIN_MODE';
The SQL conversion magically handles the numeric inputs, but these "real" character values should be set as:
Code:
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = 'false' WHERE configuration_key = 'PRODUCT_LIST_ALPHA_SORTER';
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = 'false' WHERE configuration_key = 'PRODUCT_LIST_CATEGORIES_IMAGE_STATUS';
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = 'false' WHERE configuration_key = 'PRODUCT_LIST_CATEGORIES_IMAGE_STATUS_TOP';
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = 0 WHERE configuration_key = 'PRODUCT_LIST_DESCRIPTION';
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = 0 WHERE configuration_key = 'PRODUCT_LIST_FILTER';
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = 1 WHERE configuration_key = 'PRODUCT_INFO_CATEGORIES_IMAGE_STATUS';
UPDATE configuration SET configuration_value = 'True' WHERE configuration_key = 'USE_SPLIT_LOGIN_MODE';
Note also the initial capitalization for the USE_SPLIT_LOGIN_MODE value.

Re: Stirling Grand Responsive Template
Another minor issue: /includes/templates/stirling_grand/common/tpl_header.php hasn't been updated for the PHP 5.4+ changes to htmlspecialchars. The following code fragment towards the top of the file:
Code:
// Display all header alerts via messageStack:
if ($messageStack->size('header') > 0) {
echo $messageStack->output('header');
}
if (isset($_GET['error_message']) && zen_not_null($_GET['error_message'])) {
echo htmlspecialchars(urldecode($_GET['error_message']));
}
if (isset($_GET['info_message']) && zen_not_null($_GET['info_message'])) {
echo htmlspecialchars($_GET['info_message']);
} else {
}
needs to be changed to
Code:
// Display all header alerts via messageStack:
if ($messageStack->size('header') > 0) {
echo $messageStack->output('header');
}
if (isset($_GET['error_message']) && zen_not_null($_GET['error_message'])) {
echo htmlspecialchars(urldecode($_GET['error_message']), ENT_COMPAT, CHARSET, TRUE);
}
if (isset($_GET['info_message']) && zen_not_null($_GET['info_message'])) {
echo htmlspecialchars($_GET['info_message'], ENT_COMPAT, CHARSET, TRUE);
} else {

Re: Stirling Grand Responsive Template
Hi
I am having trouble with the shopping cart icon in the header of the main page. It is not showing the image and I am getting a line of text Header_Title_Cart_Items. The log in log out & checkout buttons work.
Is the problem with the following part of the tpl_header.php:
<?php } } ?>
<li><img src="<?php echo $template->get_template_dir('',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'images').'/'.HEADER_ICON_CART ?>" alt="cart icon" class="cart-icon" /><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_SHOPPING_CART, '', 'NONSSL'); ?>"><?php echo $_SESSION['cart']->count_contents();?> <?php echo HEADER_TITLE_CART_ITEMS; ?> - <?php echo $currencies->format($_SESSION['cart']->show_total());?></a></li>
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_CHECKOUT_SHIPPING, '', 'SSL'); ?>"><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_CHECKOUT; ?></a></li>
<?php if ($_SESSION['cart']->count_contents() != 0) { ?>
<?php }?>
Shopping Cart box headers
Where in the stylesheet can change the color of the header boxes (e.g. terms & conditions) in the shopping cart page.
Move the log in button to be inline with the home page button
How do I do this??
Thank you for your assistance

Get a tool like Firebug or other web developer program, that can give you the ability to select a part of your page and it will tell you where the settings are to change them... Often you'll find these kinds of things in the CSS files, and the programs will tell you which ones and what line to find that particular setting....

Whenever you are seeing constants on the front end, it means that you have not uploaded all of the template language files to your server. I would recommend re-uploading the template package.
If you post a link to your site I can take a look.

I looked at this through Firefox Nightly, and I would suggest looking at the stylesheet.css file, line 246, the padding settings, your list text is running all the way to the left side of the white area... And what continue button are you talking about?...

Re: Stirling Grand Responsive Template
Hi
I posted a request for assistance on the Fast and Easy checkout forum and was advised that the issue was a define problem.
I fixed the header problem by inserting:- define('HEADER_TITLE_CART_ITEMS', 'My cart');
in the following directory: - includes/languages/english/header.php
at line 19
As for the other items Firebug is helping me solve the formatting issues with the checkout text and editing.
Thank you all for your help and suggestions. It is a very steep learning curve.

This is not a problem with the template package. If the package is installed correctly, there is no need to add this define statement. It sounds like you did not upload all of the template language files.
Also, it is best practice to edit files in override directories.

Re: Stirling Grand Responsive Template
Hi Anne,
I'm finally getting back to working with the template for a site upgrade and could use a bit of help.
1. Website Maintenance RED banner causes vertical alignment issues when turned on.
2. 800px width ( corresponds to Galaxy Tab3 8” in portrait orientation )
Left column visible but center column appears to be blank & white. Actually, Center column data starts Below left column, Above footer. Pages abandoned by testers due to the appearance of Blank Page instead of scrolling down to the bottom. (suggestions)
This width has no HOME button. Can you point me in the direction to add a Home tab or Home icon to the menu?
TNX
Rick
=====================================
FYI: I had problems with the sql statements that seemed to go away after I removed all the database table prefixes and edited config files to match. Also, ran the sql patches via phpMyAdmin instead of within zencart admin sql update. Currently, vanilla, zen v1.5.1 w/no addons installed yet. db upgraded from v1.3.9h, kept as latin1.

The site is currently down for maintenance so I can not take a look.
This free template package has not been tested on the GalaxyTab3 8", or Generic Android 7" tablet. It has been tested for the following:
Tested on the iPhone 5 with Mobile Safari 6.0; iPad 4 with Mobile Safari 6.0; Windows Phone 8 with IE10 Mobile; Blackberry Bold 9900 with Blackberry Browser 9900; and Android Nexus 4 with Chrome Mobile 18, Dolphin Mobile 9.3, Firefox Mobile 19, Marathon Mobile 4, Opera Mobile 12, Sleipnir Mobile 2.9
For other devices not on the list of those tested, you may need to add rules to the responsive.css file.
Thanks,
Anne

Desktop: Firefox 26.0 Windows 7
Desktop: Chrome [COLOR= ]32.0.1700.76 Windows 7
Desktop: IE 11 Windows 7

[FONT=Times New Roman]800px width regardless of device, desktop, laptop, tablet.
Left column visible but center column appears to be blank & white. Actually, Center column data starts Below left column, Above footer. Pages abandoned by testers due to the appearance of Blank Page instead of scrolling down to the bottom. (suggestions)
This width has no HOME button ( ie: Home tab and/or Home icon disappears). Can you point me in the direction to add a Home tab or Home icon to the menu?[/FONT]

Re: Stirling Grand Responsive Template
OK. Got the left column/center column issue fixed. I had setup step 7 : Responsive Layout according to the image instead of according to the text. It helps to read the instructions instead of looking at the pictures :blush:
Can you point me in the direction to add a Home tab or Home icon to the menu?

I am happy that you figured it out and posted your solution :)
You can add your code in the includes/templates/stirling_grand/common/tpl_header.php file. You can hide it on larger size screens in the responsive.css file.
Thanks,

Hi
Kobra provided the following code for installing a home button -
In a copy for your template of tpl_header.php find
Code:
<div id="navMain">
<ul class="back">
<li><?php echo '<a href="' . HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . '">'; ?><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_CATALOG; ?></a></li>
Change the red highlighted href to resemble this with your desired page
Code:
<div id="navMain">
<ul class="back">
<li><a href=your domain name></a></li>

Re: Stirling Grand Responsive Template
Sorry if I appear dense but I don't think those suggestions will achieve the desired effect.
On a desktop, adjusting the width....
In the responsive width step below 800 px wide, a "Home" icon appears on the right side of the megamenu bar.
In the responsive width step that includes 800px wide, No "Home" tab or "Home" icon appears anywhere in the megamenu bar.
In the responsive width step above 800 px wide, a "Home" tab appears in the megamenu bar.
It is hard for me to find the words that do not come across as being critical. I do not mean to sound that way. For all ways to navigate "HOME" to be removed seems to be a bug instead of a feature designed to prevent customers from being able to return Home. I don't mind mucking around in the code if I have a starting place but I can't find or see where tpl_header.php being the place to start in order to insert something that was removed, no longer appears or didn't make it into a section of code which builds that width step.

Actually, there is already a home button on the @media (min-width:768px) and (max-width:979px) display - it's just been hidden.
In the @media (min-width:768px) and (max-width:979px) section of responsive.css find
.m-home
and remove it. There should now be a home icon in the mega menu.
Some further css edits might be required to position it correctly.

Hi
I want to change the text of the Checkout Success page.
Thank you for shopping. Please click the Log Off link to ensure that your receipt and purchase information is not visible to the next person using this computer.
I have been looking using the developers tools in admin etc but I cannot find the relevant file.
Thanks for your help.

Don't forget to create an override for this file and edit the override file, not the core file.

Re: Stirling Grand Responsive Template
I have set Admin to display Page Parse times and to display IP address in footer but nothing displays.
View Page Source indicates the data is present but not displayed.
Any suggestions on how/why the data is not being displayed & a solution?
==============================================
TOP button floats under instead of over the centerbox in some responsive widths.
Suggestions?
==============================================
Still working on the HOME tab for the 768-979px widths. Home icon does not stay with the continuity of the theme. Search box could be sacrificed to gain horizontal space if necessary.

Re: Stirling Grand Responsive Template
Check your templates and overrides on the tpl_main_page.php ... do you see the code for:
Code:
<!--bof- parse time display -->
<?php
if (DISPLAY_PAGE_PARSE_TIME == 'true') {
?>
<div class="smallText center">Parse Time: <?php echo $parse_time; ?> - Number of Queries: <?php echo $db->queryCount(); ?> - Query Time: <?php echo $db->queryTime(); ?></div>
<?php
}
?>
<!--eof- parse time display -->

Re: Stirling Grand Responsive Template
NOTE: I see it on all pages for srevaewniahc . info ... just hit CTRL A as its color is grey like the background ...

For the footer ip address add #siteinfoIP{color:#fff;} to the bottom of the stylesheet_footer_menu.css file. If you want the page parse times to display you will need to add another class onto the <div class="smallText center"> and then add the color:#fff; style to the stylesheet_footer_menu.css file.
Use the responsive.css file to add a different z-index to your back to top button if you need to. I think that you'll find that at all standard widths the z-index is correct. There is really no need to obsess about the 'in between' widths.
At the smaller widths, the search bar in the header is hidden.
It looks to me like you have broken the responsiveness of the template at the smaller widths--there is a horizontal scroll bar.
Thanks,
Anne

TNX. I'll work on that.

TNX. I'll play with that. My logic had not considered 800px to be an "In between" width since 7", 8" and 10" Samsung Galaxy Tabs are in the
@media (min-width:768px) and (max-width:979px) range. My generic 7" Android also uses that range.

TNX. I never noticed that but I restored the CSS files from the original template files yesterday after a mistake. I'll look at the other template files that may have been touched after I finish snow removal this afternoon. EDIT: Must be something in the setup since a compare of all files to the template files indicate all files identical. I must have missed something in following the step by step setup.
I really appreciate all that you've done to embrace and enhance the responsive template choices available.

TNX. That did the trick. I assumed that you meant "Replace" the line of the stock code for displaying the parse time with your line of code in tpl_main_page.php

Sorry - I should have been clearer. I just added the text in red to the line, but replacing the whole line would also have the same result - as you found :wink:

OOPS. I copied the code from the email of the thread update without looking here and didn't see the code in red before I opened my mouth or engaged fingers. :-)

Figured that out. Image width in the footer banner which is wider than the current responsive width will cause the horizontal scroll bar to appear. Reducing the image width removes the scroll bar. In this case, the DigiMarc provided code regarding embedded digital copyright notice was to fit within a 480px box.
FYI: Logo wider than ~340px will also cause alignment issues in the 768 – 979 px width. Not enough horizontal room for the Logo image, the "Welcome to our Store" text & currency.
My solution: reduce the width of the Logo image.

Hi Ann
I'm using this great template but getting an issue with emails and wonder if the template is the issue.
Emails fail validation from the 'contact us' form and quick-contact header, but emails get through from the admin >Tools > send email. I deduce that it's not a server/hosting/settings issue from the latter, but am failing to find what it might be. Might it be some issue with the template or its implementation of Megamenu????
ZC v1.5.1
error log "[31-Jan-2014 12:16:05] ERROR: Failed sending email to: "" <> with subject: "Website Inquiry from Allwarm" (failed validation)"
email_debug.php is not activated
Thanks

This is not a template related issue. This same contact us form is used in quite a few of the templates and there are so many people using them that I am sure if it were a bug inherent to the header contact us form I would have heard about it.
Are you using the contact us drop down list?
Thanks,
Anne

There is really no reason why the default contact us form would work and the header contact form not work unless you have made changes to it or are missing files. Have you tried a fresh upload? Have you looked in the FAQs section for the one about email troubleshooting tips?
Thanks,
Anne

[31-Jan-2014 12:01:45] ERROR: Failed sending email to: "MYDOMAINeditedFORsecurityReasons.com" <> with subject: "Website Inquiry from DomainNameRemoved.com" (failed validation)
Have you setup your
Admin: Configuration: Email Options => so that you have valid email addresses in all the proper places?
Not saying that's the only problem but I can duplicate that error message which I copied from the /logs folder after removing the email addresses from the configuration. With all Email Options removed, the Admin:Tools:Sendmail does function but the logged error will occur when the Contact form is used.

Thanks Both. I resolved it by getting a different 'definitive' answer from the hosting support compared to the one I had yesterday - and it was to do with their settings. If I weren't so glad to have sussed it I could have been irritated. But sincere thanks to you all.

Yes, I agree with the Flexible Footer Columns suggestion. I have not tested the module installed in the template yes, so test the responsiveness after installation.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Stirling Grand Responsive Template
Flexible Footer Columns current version can be easily made responsive with a little css tweaking, the newest version being uploaded today has some bug fixes, additional admin control for the ez-pages footer bar home link and jquery accordion affect for tablet and mobile devices.

I think it is a beautiful template, however I am having a problem getting it to run on a brand new Zen Cart install. On the template install I get to "Click on "Product Listing - Layout Style", select "rows" and click on the "update" button." When I click the button I do not see Layout Style. I did upload the "clg_install.sql" file first and received message 8 items updated. I have gone through the installation from start to finish more the once.

Thank you! Your coffee is much appreciated. I am happy that you are using the templates for your websites.
I mistakenly added the class to the anchor tag instead of the li tag, so in the includes/templates/stirling_grand/templates/tpl_modules_mobile_categories.php on line 43, change it to this:
Code:
<li class="mquick-links">
Then you can add .mquick-links{display:none;} to the bottom of the stylesheet.css file and it will hide the quick links from the mobile menu.
Thanks,
Anne

Code:

EZ pages TOC question:
Is there something that breaks stock EZ pages TOC from being being displayed?
The Chapter is displayed in the TOC but none of the pages beneath the TOC.
I've been through the Install docs several times but could have missed something.
I've compared the setup in the live store (andover_modern) and sandbox store. Same database other than upgraded from 1.3.9h to 1.5.1.
Example: srevaewniahc dot info Tumblers (in footer)
Example: chainweavers dot com Tumblers (in footer)

TNX
I just found the link on the demo about the same time this posting arrived. :-)
Alignment is pretty knarly in FF27.
I just noticed that for some reason, the overall demo width is not the same is my overall default install width. That could be some of the alignment issues that I've noticed otherwise. Demo EZ pages TOC appears the same as my Stirling_Grand install but not the same as Andover_modern using the same setup.

1. Try this:
Code:
INSERT INTO `configuration` VALUES ('', 'Define About Us Status', 'DEFINE_ABOUT_US_STATUS', '1', 'Enable the Defined About Us Link/Text?0= Link ON, Define Text OFF1= Link ON, Define Text ON2= Link OFF, Define Text ON3= Link OFF, Define Text OFF', 25, 90, '', '', NULL, 'zen_cfg_select_option(array(''0'', ''1'', ''2'', ''3''),');
2. This is not a template related problem. Check your logs folder for errors.

I don't have any error logs that have been created today. The last one I had was yesterday:
"[08-Feb-2014 01:08:42] PHP Warning: htmlspecialchars() [function.htmlspecialchars]: Invalid multibyte sequence in argument in /.../define_pages_editor.php on line 188 "
I compared the "define_pages_editor.php" in the 1.5.1 original package and the one on my site and they are identical in WinMerge. I also had several other places further in the instructions where my edits won't 'update'. Here is the status of what won't keep an 'update'.
