Re: Easy Populate support
I must have miss this looking throught the thread. I am using EZPop with zen ver 1.3.2, i use excel to create my fille that i am going to uplaod using EZP, for some reason my product descriptions get strip out or are not uploaded comple.
Second thing is when i do manual add what is messing from the product description in admin editing the item. After i run a foogle down load i notice that description is missing or only partially there.
Now i am not sure if it because of that but i have notice that when i do item the itmes missing description or partial . thos eseem to be the same one all the time that i have to fix over and onver again. as you can see this takes up alot of time.
Excample i fix this one last night and look now the decsription is gone again i didn't now from last night to today..http://lextechs.com/index.php?main_p...oducts_id=2697
Any help thanks

Re: Easy Populate support
Hi!
I moved my current shop from windows to linux.
1. Installing config (with chmod 777) will only display the TEMP file directory as an option in EP configuration.
Uninstall and setting CHMOD back to 700, will install the config's fine.
2. Trying to download a Complete tab-delimited .txt file returns a "page could not be found" error in IE
3. Downloading all other files is ok, but in Froogle.txt I miss the
product_url
name
description
manufacturer_id
I have reuploaded all EP files again, changed permissions...tryied almost everything.
What do I miss?
By the way: Save Mode ON

the IE error is possibly a browser timeout issue and will be corrected in the next release.
The froogle component is pretty much redundant now, but should work ok - what version of Easy Populate are you using?
Are you refering to PHP safe mode above as being on? Safe mode is bunk, and should be turned off. Use register_globals = off for safe operation.
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Hello Nicholas,
Version is 1.2.5.4
Well, save mode is ON
I will try that with safe mod off.
Thank you

Re: Easy Populate support
I've had Easy Populate installed for a while and haven't had any problems with it. However, I am. Anytime I try to upload a file from my computer or from a temp directory on my site, it gives the error Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 2 seconds exceeded in /home/discount/public_html/admin/easypopulate.php on line 1027
The line number is sometimes different. However, it is the same error. Any idea?
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Can someone please point me to the lastest stable version of EP?
Thanks

Re: Easy Populate support
Hi!
The Froogle.txt has the following as first row (before the table headers)
<b>Warning</b>: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in <b>C:\Inetpub\vhosts\mydomain\httpdocs\admin\easypopulate.php</b> on line <b>780</b><br />
How come? Never had problems before, nothing changed so far...
Server details as listed below..except the hosted windows 2003 is a VPS now

Re: Easy Populate support
And the Froogle download file is incomplete.
I get empty columns for:
product_url
name
description
Aaaarggg

Re: Easy Populate support
I forget to mention:
1. I deleted the product index and reimported the same content with new product_model
safe_mode = off global_registers = off
There is a second shop on the same server. The export there is fine!
Did i miss something (sure i was)

Re: Easy Populate support
When uploading products from EP to zen, salemaker will not apply to the whole categorie. Another problem is that when you add a sale or special one by one and then delete it wont delete, it deletes from the admin side but still shows up on the customer side.
Go here to see the page, the product special or sale is deleted by still there, this doesnt do it on any other categories but the Coax Connectors categories.
The two sales you see there are non exisiting on the admin side of the shop, but still shows in the customer side?
The other categories are manually put in and works 100% adding and deleting on both sides of the shop.
Any ideas how to correct this error, or at least fix the removal of invisible sale problem?
Any help is appreciated

Re: Easy Populate support
Esy populate is good for edit price for me
but
when Im edit price - I see duplicated products in my catalogue
I mean it is happenes if in product id exist not used number
Example product id=9 and nex product id is 11
product number 9 be duplicated and I have product with old price (number9) and have new (number 10)
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Just installed EP without any problem but I cannot import the xml file from my supplier.
I tried both with upload and split option (the file is over 22MB) but it does not upload anything, it looks like it is for a couple minutes and then it just goes back to normal - no error message, nothing.
How can I upload these items?

New products should only occur where you have a new products model. What version are you using?

xml file?!? Easy Populate only imports tab delimited text files in the format of an export file

I upgrade Price Sort order, still it does the same thing it did before, only updates 2 of the products in that category but not the rest.
Any idea why?

Easy Populate only manages specials, not sales. What version of Easy Populate are you using? It seems you still have a sale on the category in question.

Re: Easy Populate support
Hi Nicholas-
I went to download EP from your website however I observe EP is not available to download.
Possibly because you are about to release new version?
But on your website it is also displayed:
Upcoming Products: These items will be in stock soon
Item Name: Easy Populate
Date Expected: 10/17/2006
Does that mean October 17, 2006?

Re: Easy Populate support
Thanks for the URL.
I see on the mudhole website the latest version available for download is EP_v1.2.5.4.zip with date Jan. 03, 2006 or might be Mar 1, 2006?
Before I invest much time reading up on EP (including this thread and the archived thread, and also the forum/wiki at mudhole) anyone certain the version above runs well out-of-the-box for Zen Cart 1.3.0.2?
Thanks for any info.

Re: Easy Populate support
Oooh boy.
I think I did a big mistake.
Got an error so I thought I needed an upgrade. Upgraded to some non supported version. So I thought. Oh I better get the newest supported version.
Now... Here is what I get:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare print_el() (previously declared in /usr/home/milobloom/domains/timeofyear.com/public_html/admin/easypopulate.php:863) in /usr/home/milobloom/domains/timeofyear.com/public_html/admin/includes/functions/extra_functions/easypopulate_functions.php on line 78
There is also a new box: BOX_TOOLS_EASYPOPULATE
That does nothing.
What can i do???
Back after a long absance....
-
Re: Easy Populate support
I also downloaded the Easy Populate from Modhole and I am trying to use it with ZC 1.3.0. First I got some warnings but then I got rid of them by changing the permissions for Temp folder.
I can upload a file but I can't see anything changing in the Categories and Products. I was trying to patch the SQL with a provided file but it doesn't run it really it just shows it and asks to use back button to check the file in order.
So, I think the Sql things were not completed like they should but also the patch won't work...
I was trying to search info what to do in this forum but didn't find any concerning sql stuff.

Re: Easy Populate support
Ok... Just replaced the files with my backup (duh)
Here is the errors I got in the first place.

Ok... Figuring things out for myself.
Its definetly my data. But the thing is I cant see how.
I made a seprate spread sheet.
Put one of the items that worked ok and added it with the rest
The thing is the one item updates ok and then the rest of the products dont.
They get this error:
mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /usr/home/milobloom/domains/timeofyear.com/public_html/admin/easypopulate.php on line 1704

I painstaking looked at the sheet and cant figure out any diffrences between the lines that work and the lines that dont. It doesnt make any sence?
Does anyone know what I should be looking for??

Re: Easy Populate support
Milo-
I'm new to EP myself, so I don't have any real awareness of how the mod works.
With that said I onserve an apostrophe in your product (name?) which could be a contributing factor. Apostophe's negatively affect operations of a number of mods, and even contributes to Zen Cart search issues.
Possibly you may be able to apply an "escape" solution?

Re: Easy Populate support
To follow up, can anyone confirm the latest version of EP is here:
http://www.modhole.com/modhole/index..._Document_id=2
Which shows EP_v1.2.5.4.zip with "uploaded" date of Jan 03 2006.
After I downloaded this file I find /admin/easypopulate.php is the latest file modified file in the package with a date of Nov 20, 2005. The included readme is dated Nov. 18, 2005 and history.txt dated Sept 02, 2005. (if I'm not mistaken the history file is two and half months behind).
Can anyone confirm the download above is the latest release (and no changes or patches released since this version) and if it runs fine on Zen Cart 1.3.0.2?
Thanks for any info,
Woody

Also have the sale maker issue. For any product in the category which I load manually - the sale applies. For any that were uploaded/edited by easy populate it does not. All in one category.

Re: Easy Populate support
Why do you not use easy populate to make the sale as well ? It has columns for that and I haven't ever seen it not work even in Zen version 1.3.2

Re: Easy Populate support
Hello! I'm having a bit of trouble installing Easy Populate. I've copied all the files from the install into the relevant directories. But when I go into Admin>Tools>Easypopulate it gives me a blank screen.
I've tried typing admin/easypopulate.php?langer=install onto my stores URL, but it doesn't do anything - still a blank window.
I've also tried Admin>Tools>Install SQL patches - as recommended - This added the Easy Populate screen to Admin>Configuration>Easy Populate which seems to work, but there is still nothing happening to the option in the tools directory. I've checked the permissions of all the files and set the PHP files to read, write, execute, but to no avail!
Any ideas anyone?

Sale maker manages pricing on a categories basis, whereas specials is products based.
Go to admin -> Tools -> Store Manager and reset master categories ids - salemaker should be fine after this.

You may have a corrupted file - have you tried uploading them again? A blank screen is usually caused by a php error - did you modify the code in easypopulate.php?

Re: Easy Populate support
Hi.
Any mods known to conflict with EP_v1.2.5.4 ?
Also anyone out there with success running EP_v1.2.5.4 on Zen Cart V.1.2.0.2 ?
Any "gotch-ya's" to be aware of?
Or is it recommended waiting for release of new EP version?
Thanks,

I'm not sure if this will help, but I had a similar problem when I installed the other night. I had uploaded the Easy Populate zip file (downloaded from modhole) to a linux server and unzipped on the server, then moved the files to the appropriate directories. After seeing the same blank screens as you, I looked at the files (with vim) and found that a couple of files had ^M characters (from dos/windows) at the end of each line. After I cleaned those up, everything worked fine. I suppose that if I had unzipped the files on my PC and FTP'd them, the CRLF characters would have been automatically corrected to the unix LF.
Of course, there are many things that can cause PHP errors and give the blank screen, but I hope this helps!

Thanks Jason. It is always best to upload the files by ftp after unpacking them locally. This way the transfer process will convert the newline to suit your native server environment.

Re: Easy Populate support
I installed Easy Populate and when I upload a sample with two items on the EP file option from my hard drive (tabe delimited) it hangs at about the halfway mark on the status bar and then gives me a page cannot be found (like a time-out error)... Everything seems to be installed correctly.. Any ideas?

Re: Easy Populate support
hiya,
I have added easy populate to my zen-cart. (version 1,2,7)
Its all installed ok as far as I can see (its showing in the tools menu)
Just as a tester, I deleted all but 3 of the sample entries, went to tools, easy populate, and imported them (the file was showing in the drop down menu). It didnt say it had imported, but it didn't show any error messages either .. but the items are not showing on my site. Is there something I have missed ? Was I supposed to create the categories and subs manually before hand? or does easy populate do that for you?
Also while I am here, you know the columns that are not needed (for my products), do i just leave them blank, or do I delete them?
ooo another quick question too .. well just clarification really .. for the images, i just create a folder in images for them, and put foldername/imagename in the image column ? and it knows to look in the image folder ?
Many Thanks for any help you can give
Erica xx
EDIT: to ask another Q
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Just to test it, I went and created cats and subs to match what is on the sample file, and they are still not showing so it must be something i am doing (or not doing) lol
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Speaking of the Images folder, I added a column on my sheet that says v_upload_to_directory because that is how I upload my images to folders that I have created inside of my Images directory.. the folders are named the same as my categories.. COuld this be why my uploads are lagging.. I even did a drag & drop on the ftp using side by side windows and when I try to add it to the DB it still hangs and does not show up.. COuld my meddling with the image column i created be the culprit? Was i suppose to install the file called install_sql to my cart? I didnt.. Also what does the v stand for on the sample excel sheet? Just trying to help figure out what I have done.. Thanks...

Re: Easy Populate support
Hi Langer, am enjoying the great help of this mod....but
Froogle.
I guess you are upgrading the mod so it will work with the new Google Base format. I tried and tried to reformat the excell file to their specs and just couldn't get it right.
so now I am a Froogle Google girl...for that anyway. It works (search for that thread for the most recent download)
However, I'm hoping to go back to EP for that as the FG mod's functions don't all work as seamlessly as my experience with EP.
So good luck with upgrading EP. I look forward to it.

you cannot arbitrarily add columns to Easy Populate and expect it to work. Each column requires underlying code.
Try backing out of any changes and testing if it works. Did it ever work for you? What version is it??

Will you eventually incorporate the download by category feature of the other version? I found it to be quite useful.

Woody, this is the latest freeely available version. It does have some known issues, most notably that multilanguage sites will be missing categories names/descriptions in languages other than default, and same with products if you do not include all languages in any new product uploads. Regrettably, these cannot be added in Zen Cart admin afterwards, so it is a big pain requiring database surgery. I think the best advice is do not use this version (or any of the older versions) on multi-language sites.
The only other gotcha is dates - there is a bug which will be fixed in the next release that chokes Easy Populate if you omit the date columns, so ensure they are included and it should be fine.
There are no specific version issues using Easy Populate for versions 1.2.5.4 (possibly earlier) through to the latest (1.3.0.2 currently).

Hi Nicholas,
Hoping all is well with you and yours, little-un included.
Could you please elaborate a bit on the above quote.
I regularly upload just model# & quantity, or model# and prices, etc...
As far as I can tell, I don't seem to have any problems.
Am I missing something that's going wrong?

Model# is mandatory, it is used as the primary key, without it your record won't load.
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Thats not fair because non of my products that I have listed use the model# option.. SO what can I put on there? Can I put something generic?

Re: Easy Populate support
I put the term T Shirt in the Model field, but nothing is showing up once I put things in the DB.. What other fields are necessary? Also I went into the admin and under Product Types I have never specified anything there so I editted the General Products tab and changed it to T Shirt and of course the test items I tried still didnt work.. SO what am I missing? I have the sample sheet thats in the temp folder as my template.. i have all of the columns intact.. I dont have all of them filled with info so Im guessing that might be my problem..
Also I keep wondering if I was supposed to drag the file "install_sql" in the Easy Populate Unzipped Folder into my website? The instructions didnt tell me to, but then why is that file there? If I need to drag it into my cart which folder do I put it in? Thanks..

The Model# field is the primary key, hence it needs to be unique. Make it anything you'd like, just no dups.
The "install_sql" file needs to be loaded from Tools-Install SQL Patches (it modifies the DB).

I still cant get anything to show up... I changed the tab delimited file that the model column had two different made up names "suck1, suck2 as you can see below.. I use drag and drop from my hard drive to the ftp folder to upload the updated sheet.. So what have I missed?

Re: Easy Populate support
Just installed this mod, and it's gonna save me a boat load of time in converting over from my old cart.
One question though, I've worked out how to make sure new items are created as product type music, but is it possible to specify the artist, label and genre using Easy Populate?
-
Re: Easy Populate support
And on reflection, I'm able to make them product_type_music but when I go and try and look at them in admin I get the following error:
Warning: reset(): Passed variable is not an array or object in /home/xxxxxx/admin/includes/classes/object_info.php on line 29
Warning: Variable passed to each() is not an array or object in /home/xxxxxx/admin/includes/classes/object_info.php on line 30
And all the fields are blank.
I know this must be related to me changing the default for product type to 2. However, is their a way to import them as product_type_music instead of general? I'm happy for a fix here that will then only let me import as product_type_music and not general, but not sure where to start looking in the easy populate files to do this.

Re: Easy Populate support
that's WAY beyond the scope of easy populate.
Setting all the extra details for music products is a ton of extra coding and debugging to do.

Re: Easy Populate support
Hi all.
In post #138 I asked if current EP v.1254 has known conflicts with any other mods. Also on post #132 I asked if EP v.1254 had any issues running on ZC 1.3.0.2. But no responses to either post.
Anyhow I thoroughly read through this thread and the archived EP support thread, and the readme and install docs and wiki before installing. And then went ahead and downloaded EP v.1254 from modhole site. Installed without a hitch, and without conflicting with the other mods I have installed (as far as I can observe with very limited testing).
In EP I downloaded "Complete tab-delimited .txt file to edit (Attributes Not Included)" and opened in EXcel. The file containd my two test products. Then for testing purposes I added one product and saved in tab delimited txt format.
But before I upload and possibly make a mess of things, two questions...
In the "v_date_added" field column the entries in that column show in Excel with a format of
7/28/2006 1:44:10 AM (excel cell formatting option shows m/d/yyyy h:mm
Whereas if I open the file in a text editor I see a formatting of 2006-07-28 01:44:10
So I'm not clear on the date conversion process supported by EP and support for timestamps within the "v_date_added" field.
In Admin > Configuration > Easy Populate I see six different date formats to choose from, neither of which shows m/d/yyyy as an option or which suggests including a timestamp.
Question 1: So on upload does EP auto convert Excel m/d/yyyy to m-d-y format as I have set in EP "Upload File Date Format"
In the same admin menu I see a "Default Raw Time" setting with default value of "09:00:00".
Question 2: So does this mean that the time stamps in the "v_date_added" field shown in the downloaded file are ok as is, and when editing new products in the spreadsheet, if I do not enter a timestamp next to the date, then EP will auto append "09:00:00" to the "v_date_added" field?
Thanks for any pointers.
BTW I see the new Advanced version was just released today. Congratulations! Is there a side-by-side feature comparison table available? Will an updated "non-advanced" version be available soon to try out? Thanks again.
Woody

Re: Easy Populate support
1. EP auto-detects the date-separator and uses what you provide .... 3 valid choices are: - / .
2. I believe this means that if no time is provided for "specials" start/end then it will use the time supplied in the configuration setting.

Re: Easy Populate support
Any clue how to help me out from my post a few back? I cant seem to get my products to show up... I included what message Im getting when I add to DB, but nothing shows up. thanks!
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Sorry - I don't follow exactly what you've done.
If I understand properly, you have:
- a v_products_model column (which you don't want to have, but require for EP)
- a v_products_image column (which you hope to use to upload images with.. but cannot)
- a sample spreadsheet with columns you don't want
- and some errors
Where I would start:
- delete the columns you don't have any data for ... except v_products_model (and keep the EOREOR column)
- copy your v_products_name contents to the v_products_model column ... keeping the v_products_model title on the column
- upload and import/insert
Then manually upload the images via FTP to the /images folder. You could upload them before importing if you prefer.

Have you looked in the product catalog to see if they are there? It looks like you have set status = 0 (inactive) so they should be uploaded, but not visible. Status = 1 will make them visible.

Re: Easy Populate support
I had deleted the columns that I didnt have any data for before and that didnt work.. I kept the model column even though I didnt need it, that didnt work.. I put something generic in the model column, that didnt work.. its not that I cant get the images to show up.. I cant get anything at all to show up.. Here are the columns I use..."products image, product name 1, product description 1, products price, date added, qty, category name 1, category name 2, i use status, but have it set at 0 (not sure what the #'s mean), EOREOR
i dont use the following: products url 1, products weight, date available, manufacturer, category name 3, name 4, name 5, name 6, name 7, tax class
Are there certain columns that have to have something entered and I have left them off? Also for my description I use HTML... Thanks for any insight...

Maybe I can add to this. Spreadsheet apps often show the time in their own format, even though it is raw time in the underlying file, hence the discrepancy. Saving in raw time is best, as it is the fastest to process, however spreadsheet apps can be uncooperative in this regard. The date format in config is for when dates that are not raw, how should Easy Populate handle these? This depends on your locale usually (in UK it is dd/mm/yy and in US it is mm/dd/yy) - is is the order only that is of interest - the rest can be figured out by ep.
The default raw time is the time appended to the current date where date fileds are blank. It is useful if you want to prevent a special from starting before a particular time for eg.

You said you used "something generic" for products_model. You can do that ... as long as it is unique per product ... that's why I suggested copying the products_name for it.
If you don't use the v_ prefixes then you will get no data loaded
products_status: 0=disabled, 1=enabled. If disabled, will not be visible to shoppers, but can be edited in Admin

Re: Easy Populate support
Okay the 2 tests finally showed up after changing the numbers to 1 so I guess what ever i changed beforehand I forgot to test it with the 1 so now I finally have some products showing up.. Now something new has happened.. The item has this: %0d%0a %0d%0a
%0d%0a
%0d%0a
showing up all through the page and its creating spaces through the html and screwing the page all up.. This same codes with all of my other listings that I have done manually... You can go to the absurdatees link below and click on the Suck/Rule at category to see it for yourself.. Its all out of wack! Im excited that they have made it though.. Now to fine-tune it a bit...
-
Re: Easy Populate support
%0d%0a .... those look like they might be carriage returns translated poorly from your text file....
You were uploading by FTP.... did you upload as ascii or binary?
Perhaps try uploading using the easypopulate "upload" option.... click Browse and select the file and then click Insert into db.

Re: Easy Populate support
That worked out good.. My html wont exactly work because I was taking the HTML from my Turbo Lister CSV and of course that code has links to Ebay and I dont want those, but i did actually get it to work and thats all I needed.. So once I put my images into the images folder everything should be okay from there... I really appreciate the help and Im sure I will be back here for questions on my next mod..

Fair enough :) Guess I have to make a choice whether to manually enter all as music products or skip that and just go with general. Hmmmm.
Anyway, on experimenting, I'm coming up with a couple of problems.
I get the error:
SKIPPED! - Model: SPV07676642 - No category provided for this new product
There is a category specified in my list.
And also:
SKIPPED! - Model: SPV09274492 - Category name(s) too long (max. 32)
When the category is B/Bon Appetite which is obviously less than 32 characters.
Any ideas?

Re: Easy Populate support
you have tabs in your description fields..

Re: Easy Populate support
Ok thanks for pointing that out :)
I've cut/pasted from an catalog export from litecommerce. What would be the easiest way to remove these tabs from the csv without manually having to re-enter all of the data?

If you are able to open it with a spreadsheet app, you may be able to copy each column and paste special (if it makes a difference - not sure). Or, you may be able to do a search & replace.
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Thanks for the help so far :)
The paste/special solved the first two.
Doesn't seem to work on the second block though, and i still have the same problem with the category name too long error.
-
Re: Easy Populate support
it will be the same cause - tabs in your descriptions. Since tabs are the column delimiter, whay Easy Populate "thinks" is the category, and what is the category are not the same. You need to get rid of all tabs in fields.
Tell me, are you using Excel? And do the column headings have a text delimiter (eg double quote) around them?? If not, try saving with a text delimiter. Better yet, do it with openoffice - this may save the day

I was able to upload Easy Populate up to the point of going to /my_admin/easypopulate.php?langer=install ... but it just goes to a blank page!
I tried doing it in both IE and Firefox (my default) to no availability. I know my server should fully support it, so I don't really know whats up. I'm a PHP/server n00b, so, excuse me there, but I at least can usually get fundementals like this done...

The problem is probably php 5 or register_globals.

i had a similar problem, but after checking loads of things, it turns out I'd copied the wrong php file in the wrong directory. Try downloading and unzipping again, and copy all the files over really carefully in the directories - it worked for me!

Thanks for all the help langer.

Re: Easy Populate support
Hi Langer & DrByte-
Thanks for previous follow-ups and explanation of date fields. Still somewhat uncertain about date/time stamp formatting support but decided only way to really find out is to test.
So attempted uploading tab-delimited text file via EP but observing error. My actions and observations follow:
In Admin > Tools > Easy Populate
Attempted to "Upload EP file" from local client
After browsing for file I clicked "insert into db" button
Resulting webpage at:
http://www.mydomain.com/shop/admin/e...te.php?split=0
Shows following Error:
406 Not Acceptable
Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /shop/admin/easypopulate.php could not be found on this server.
Uncertain if the shop being down for "web maintenance" would be issue, so I tested by disabling web maintenance , even though I already have my client IP listed under Down For Maintenance (exclude this IP-Address).
Then atemtpted to upload but with same error.
So via FTP uploaded text file to /temp.
Via Admin > Tools > Easy Populate >
"Import from Temp Dir (temp/)"
I entered just the filename Within edit text box.
Resulting page:
http://www.mydomain.com/shop/admin/easypopulate.php
I received same error as above.
Sidenote: This appears to be same error I observe whenever patching the database via the large text edit box form via Config > Tools > Install SQL patches (admin/sqlpatch.php). However on same form page I can browse for location of my sql patch files and successfully upload and patch the db just fine.
Same error using Firefox 1.5.0.6 and IE6
I've ensured the temp directory and files within are chmod 777
I checked Apache Error log and no errors.
I see in this thread on 3rd June 2006, mooo11 reported similar issue (but he did not follow-up). I see langer reported on 05 June 2006 that mooo11's report was the first on this issue and provided Google search URL. I just searched and so many references to Apache server configuration and not sure where to start.
At http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec10.html, under Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1 -- 10 Status Code Definitions -- 10.4.7 406 Not Acceptable
I see an explanation of "406 Not Acceptable" but unclear how this applies to EP uploads. Potential issue in possibly relates to "response entities which have content characteristics not acceptable according to the accept headers sent in the request" and "The entity format is specified by the media type given in the Content-Type header field. "
Wondering if this might be an .htaccess or mod_security config issue?
I see DrByte posted info below for someone having similar error when attempting a ZC install:
Quote:
The faster way to do the same is:
1. open zc_install folder via FTP
2. rename the "htaccess_to_disable_mod_security" to ".htaccess"
3. Try running zc_install again via the browser.
WOuld a similar change of my .htaccess in /shop/admin be recommended for the EP upload situation I am observing?
Running EP 1.2.5.4 (downloaded from modhole)
Zen Cart: 1.3.0.2 (fresh install)
PHP Version: 4.4.2 (Zend: 1.3.0)
MySQL version: 4.1.19-standard
Thanks,
Woody

This is a server issue. Your host may be able to resolve this.
The follwing in your .htaccess file might work:
Code:
<IfModule mod_security.c>
# Turn off mod_security filtering.
SecFilterEngine Off
# The below probably isn't needed, but better safe than sorry.
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>

Langer,
Very awesome. That worked.
So do you suggest this for a permanent solution (disabling mod_sec) or just temporary until my host can configure appropriately/differently?
EDIT: On second thought now I'm unable to access my hosting account. Via www, ftp or domain mail... OOPS!
Thus I cannot even upload my old .htaccess w/o above entries.

There seems to be a problem connecting to our database. Please give us a few minutes to remedy the problem. Thank you.
Then when I vist the admin login page I observe DB errors.
EDIT: OK the db is now connecting and Zen Cart is back up on both catalog and admin side.
Just alerted my host of this issue. So anyone think my change to .htaccess with the following http upload and the immediate thereafter server crash was just a coincidence?
BTW with the server now back up I now see all my new products uploaded successfully with EP!!

As an update all services are normal, and host support just reported they would work with me to resolve mod_security issues. Still wondering if my .htaccess change crashed the server. If so, big oops, on my part. Going down a river which I do not know. ;-)

Final update on this (sorry to take up so much space in this thread on this issue but might help others): Host reported the server has been acting flaky of recent, and server crash was just likely a coincidence. Anyway they removed the mod_security rules affecting easypopulate HTTP POSTs, then had me remove the entries I made in my htaccess. And EP uploading is working well, so time to go back to the grind of loading data into the master spreadsheet.
And just downloaded the "ModSecurity for Apache UsersGuide" so I can learn more.
Thanks for the assist Langer!
