Okay, this may be a stupid question...but why won't the US version of QBI work with the Canadian Quickbooks? I live in Alberta so there is only one tax....is it the double tax that is the issue?Quote:

Be much appreciated.
I do not include the user manual in doc format, since it is copyrighted (documentation is not part of the GPL) and I want to assure that it is not reused or altered. Surely you must be able to find a computer that can open pdf files and at least print it out! I'd think there would even be a pdf reader for linux, since it is an open format.Quote:

I have not had time to investigate all the different international QB versions yet. You can of course go ahead and try it -- if QB doesn't like it, it will tell you with error messages when you try to import the iif file.Quote:

Can this import orders as Sales Orders?
Thanks.
Yes, you can set it up to import orders that are paid online as sales orders.Quote:

I will try to ftp the file now instead and see how that works.
It doesn't sound like a QBI issue -- yes, check you server settings, and make sure that file uploads are enabled in PHP and that the temp directory that PHP uses for file uploads is set up properly. You can ftp the file to the directory and QBI will recognize it just the same -- but make sure you call it lists.iifQuote:

Did anyone else have trouble importing orders? I just get a ton of errors.
Also on the product import there was something goofy on products with quotes " in the title. Workaround for that one?
Got this Mod working and its great. Today however I noticed that QBI is not allowing me to download one of my orders. it totally skips over it. It recognizes 1 New order (# 1231) and a previous batch of 2 orders (1228 to 1229) See below:
New Orders
Quan: 1
No.: 1231
Date: Jul 8, 2006 2:38 pm
Previous Batch of Orders
Quan: 2
No.: 1228 to 1229
Date: Jul 7, 2006 3:58 pm to Jul 7, 2006 5:44 pm
I need to import order # 1230!
Any idea why this would happen and if its common and may happen again?
Also any way of just importing one specific order (maybe by order #) into QB?
Did some playing around and figured out that it has somehting to do with editing an order with Super orders - Adv order Mgt. Any1 else run into this bug? before i edit the order ti shows up as a new order in QBI - as soon as I edited it (Added an item to the order) It disappeared from the Craete IIF screen.
Anything we can do to get these 2 awesome mods to be able to work together?
So Sorry - Played around for a bit longer and it had nothing to do with super orders - that was justa coincidence, Git it all figured out now!

Does anybody have any idea how to make an icon or a shortcut in quickbooks that links to files->utilitis>import>iif ?
Just looking to streamline the process of importing the iif file. Youd think this would eb possible but i am having no luck
Another issue i am noticing. When the customer data is imported into QB It is puttin compnay name on 1st line, Persons name on 2nd, address on 3rd etc.
This poses a problem when using QB Shipping Manger, it puts the customers name on the 1st address line and moves the actual address to the adress line 2 fiels where apt #/suite # would go.
Anyone else run into this? Any fix for thsi besides manually messing with the addresses each time?
Thanks!
I'll look at this when I return.Quote:

Hi, there is another plugin that works great at import sales into quickbooks and also support making shipping labels with USPS.
Please download it at:

Let me know what you think, Thanks!
I'm on vacation in Europe, but yes I can't resist checking messages when an Internet cafe is handy.Quote:

Adam,
I realized something that might have been causing some of my problems but haven't had a chance to test.
I had used quotes to describe dimension in my product description and also the wysiwyg editor added code to the description. think that might have caused import issues?
Does QBI help you print prepaid shipping labels for usps ?Quote:

Please email me the iif file that is causing trouble, and also your log files from the QBI Support tab and I'll track down the problem.Quote:

I did a quick test last night and didn't get all of the wrong section problems that I had previously I think there might be a few small things but I have to go and start over since I changed all of the model numbers removed all of the HTML and Quotes. So I want to go through all the settings again. I will work on it over the next couple of days and if I run into any walls I will let you know, that way if the problem arises with anyone else maybe my issues will be a point of reference.
QBI does not have built-in shipping labels, as that isn't its purpose and it works great with other programs that are specifically designed for handling shipping. QBI imports your orders from the shopping cart into QB. Once they are in QB, you can then do your shipping.Quote:

I don't know of any product that prints USPS labels from inside QB. Maybe there isn't enough demand, as few stores use the USPS for shipping (personally, my experience with the post office is that their package handling is poor, and their customer service and complaint resolution is horrid).
QBI works great! Like any software, there are always some bugs (but QBI has relatively few) and I fix those as soon as possible. I will be releasing v3.03 very shortly, which will address all bugs reported so far.Quote:

Adam,
Thank you for all the time and effort you have put into this project. I administer several zencart based sites. The one where I want to install this mod is currently running Zencart version 1.2.5. Do you know if this mod will work with the old Zencart version?

Hi All,
I should mention to the community that I am considering transitioning future versions of QBI for ZenCart to no longer be free contributions. This would of course not include bug fixes, but would include versions with new features, such as international and multiple tax rate support. I want to be carefull here not to violate the rules of the forum, but I thought I should mention this and see what the reaction is to avoid any misunderstandings or upset people! Versions 3.00 and up for osC are already no longer free. The source code is still visible.
QBI is the result so far of 554 hours of work! 262 of that was developing version 3, which has versions for both ZenCart and osC. At this moment, QBI for ZenCart has been downloaded 1364 times, and the number of people who have voluntarily contributed so far fits on one hand. I'm sure that many people's stores are more efficient and profitable because of it, and for me the voluntary contribution route just isn't working. Let me know what you think. And in the meantime, if you want to convince me otherwise, you are welcome to contribute via PayPal to sales --ATTT-- libermansound --DOTTT-- com.
Thanks!

if the new version work for me and the price is fair i cannot see why i will not contribute.Quote:

no problem on that.
id gladly pay for it if it was fully functional, bug free and didn't cost a fortune.Quote:

Adam, you certainly know how I feel about paying for buggy software. Unless future releases are drastically refined and simplified I would definately not pay up front. Now the catch 22 is how do you know that unless your able to test it out.
I just arrived back home from Iraq where I was cooresponding over the months that I've been trying to get QBI to work. I will now have time to get it working properly, i hope, and when and if i do i will gladly contribute what i tihink it is worth. I am hoping to get that done today or at least this coming week.
I would guess just because there are as many downloads as is being listed it does not mean that there are that many people using the software. I myself have downloaded it 3 times. and still not using it.
I'm not sure what your motivation was for writing the code but from my observation most people in the OS community don't seem to do it merely for the money. You've told us many times how much work you've put into this and when it is functioning properly I will be greafull for your efforts but I would never blindly contribute money for something that may or may not work out of the box. One can argue that you pay for Microsoft software and it is "buggy" but basically it functions when you install it and you can accomplish what you need to do.
If you do decide to go the paid route hopefully someone will take the open code and continue to improve on it.
ya, i wouldn't pay much for something that is buggy and difficult to install/set up/use. However if it was bug free and the set up and use was user intuitive, id gladly pay for it.
I should note that i have no idea how it works currently . i have been patiently waiting V3.03 before i install .
Hi,
I really wish you would stop calling it buggy software. The few bugs in 3.02 are minor, and do not affect most people. QBI is used by thousands of people (2,500 downloads that I am aware of (between purchases, Zen-Cart, and a download link at CRE), and that's not even including osC which doesn't display downloads and easily could be 6,000 more), and feedback I've received has been overwhelmingly positive. The model for many open source projects is that the software is free, but advanced support is not.Quote:

I am going to try to get it done this weekend. The fixes are relatively minor, and updating is very easy (just replacing files, no code to change). Any database changes are done automatically when you open it.Quote:

You have offered to help but as I stated previously I will try to work it out on my own I just haven't had time until now.
Here is a question for you, for those that do donate before you go commercial, will they be privy to updates?
I will take the rest of my comments to PM here at the ZC orum, I don't feel like registering at another forum I already have too many to keep track of.
Yes, if it goes commercial any donation for anyone who has ever donated would be credited to the cost of purchasing the latest version.Quote:

let me know by PM if you want.
Actually, Its this that I want to actually install.
I have Quickbooks Premeier and Running Zencart 2.9
Will it work with anything less then 3.x? or must I upgrade?
Hi,
The dll and files you mentioned above are not part of QBI and are not needed for QBI to work.Quote:

QBI works fine with Premier. However, if you want to create PO's from Sales Orders (a Premier feature), you'll need to do that in QB after you import. I may add this feature to QBI some time in the future.

Hi I am a newbie, Hacking away at this.
WhenI try to import my orders
I get this:

I saw in a prior post about missing product numbers. Checked that. Its not the case.

This almost always is because of one of the following:Quote:

If you open the iif file in Excel you will be able to compare the order line items to the invoice in Zen-Cart and will right away see which item is missing or has the incorrect dollar amount.
Thanks,
Adam
I suppose it goes without saying that I should fully understand and configure the quickbooks side before importing data,,,, :lookaroun
Yup, QB has to be fully set up and functional, and then in QBI all the configuration settings in red have to be set properly, and the payments and discounts set up and matched as needed. Don't skip any steps in the QBI manual, and then it will all work great!Quote:

Hi, Quick questions as I am not a quick books user but looking for an accounting package that will integrate with Zencart.
Does this mod allow the import/export of and can Quickbooks cope with stock by attributes?
Thanks
MG
Quickbooks does keep track of stock by attributes -- in QB attributes are Sub Items. QBI imports Zen-Cart attributes as QB Sub Items. If you want stock by attributes in Zen-Cart, you have to install the StockAttributes contribution. Since QB keeps its own inventory, it does not matter if the contribution is installed in Zen-Cart -- this only affects whether your customers are notified if the attribute is in stock.Quote:

If I have a red tshirt in sizes how then do I get the stock for size 0-3 and size 3-6 for that t-shirt. If I have gift wrap as an attribute so people can select a paper to gift wrap but for which I don't hold stock (i.e I have a red t-shirt 0-3 which can be gift wrapped in ballon paper) the current stock by attribute module will keep a record of the product as red t-shirt 0-3 gift wrapped in blue paper.
I want to be able to keep track of a red t-shirt 0-3 only whether it is wrapped in blue or pink paper.
Hope this is explained okay can I map these to the same red t-shirt 0-3 and will Quickbooks keep stock for me.
If so this is very exciting and a solution I am desperate to find.
I have not got quickbooks so need to know the answers before spending £300 pound on it (Which version do you recommend/ is the minimum that this will work with)
Thanks

I understand what you are asking on inventory. QBI lets you manually map products, so if the number of products you have is managable, you can map both blue and red gift-wrapped items to the same product. However, currently QBI can only map to products with two attributes or less.
Thanks,

I have been trying to get QBI working. When I import orders into QB 2 new bank accounts are being created:
one corresponds to the basic sales income account and the other corresponds to the Sales: S&H income account.
Why is this happenning? I can see the text in the qbi_orders.iif file that matches the names of the bank accounts being created.
Thx:smile:
Audra
The accounts that you put into the QBI configuration page MUST exactly match QB accounts that already exist. Make sure to read and follow the manual exactly, and refer to the screen shots that show where in QB to find the accounts for each configuration option. If QB is creating new accounts, then you've put accounts that don't yet exist into the configuration page. This can cause unpredicable results.Quote:

Adam,
I have spoken to Quickbooks in the UK and there seems to be a difference between the UK and US versions.
The info they gave me suggested that you could not import order detail via an iif file in the UK version. IS this you understanding? and who are you gettin the QBI od to work with it if this is the case?
Would love to test but difficult to with out a copy of quick books obviously. Can you confirm if you are aware of this import problem and is there a soluton.
Thank you.
MG
I can't confirm if it is possible, but it should be. The UK versions are different -- tax is handled differently (your prices include VAT, US prices don't include tax), and the iif column headings are different. If there is a menu choice under the File menu to Import IIF File, then it should be possible. If someone has a recent UK version, and it does have iif import, please contact me via private message. I would love to get a copy so that I can do testing with it. Same goes for other non-US versions.Quote:

I'm not familiar with the invoice terms in QB, so I'm not sure how I want to handle this. My instinct is that I would want 3 terms: check, credit card, and Paypal. I don't know how these terms are then used in QB, so I don't know if that is overkill. And, even if it is not, it seems that QBI will only allow 2 terms?
To complicate my already confused self, I am using sales receipts for my internet sales, so I am not sure if I even need to set this up in QBI.

Audra,
One thing that can be a little confusing is that in QB there are both Payment Methods and Payment Terms. QBI accepts unlimited Payment Methods, and with the Set Up and Match feature you can match QB methods to ZenCart methods.Quote:

Yes, you need to set it up. QBI needs to know which orders are paid online, so that it knows which orders should be sales receipts. Make sure to read all the instructions in the manual for setting this up. You need to upload your payment methods to QBI, import them into Set Up | Payments, match in Match | Payments, and set the Sales Receipt option in the configuration.Quote:

I am receiving an error when I try to import iif file at Setup->Products:
I have compared line 51 of the above mentioned file w/ QBI currently listed in the downloads section, they match. Here is the code:Quote:
Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in /home/naturew/public_html/store_v1302/admin/qbi_products.php on line 51
Assuming that I get past this error, is there a way to download only one order so that I can test this out without reaking havoc on my QB if I have done something incorrectly? I have already had to scrap my previous company file, but learned a lot in the process. I'm not looking forward to doing that again:shocking:PHP Code:

Thx! Off to scour this thread more closely in case I missed this same error somewhere earlier.

Notice: Query failed: Incorrect integer value: '' for column 'qbi_qb_addr' at row 1 SQL: UPDATE qbi_config SET qbi_qb_iso2='GB',qbi_qb_subver='1',qbi_qb_addr='',qbi_output_fmt='1',qbi_file_da te='',qbi_dl_file='1',qbi_prod_rows='5',prods_sort='0',prods_width='48',qbi_log= '',orders_status_import='1',qbi_status_update='',qbi_cc_status_select='3',qbi_mo _status_select='2',qbi_email_send='',qbi_cc_clear='',orders_docnum='%I',orders_p onum='%I',cust_nameb='%C10W-%I',cust_namer='%L10W-%I',cust_limit='0',cust_type='',cust_state='1',cust_country='',cust_compcon='1', cust_phone='',invoice_acct='Accounts Receivable',invoice_salesacct='Undeposited Funds',invoice_toprint='1',invoice_pmt='0',invoice_termscc='',invoice_terms='',i nvoice_rep='',invoice_fob='',invoice_comments='1',invoice_message='',invoice_mem o='',item_acct='',item_asset_acct='Inventory Asset',item_class='',item_cog_acct='Cost of Goods Sold',item_cart_lang='0',item_match_inv='1',item_match_noninv='',item_match_serv ='',item_match_assy='',item_match_disc='',item_match_oth in ...\admin\includes\classes\qbi_mysql.php on line 119
using PHP 5 and mysql 5 on 1.3.5
thanks
Okay I have tried it now with version 1.27d and sql4 and seem to be getting closer but I am now getting:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded in ...\admin\includes\classes\qbi_mysql.php on line 117
can this be extended or avoided. Probably an obvious answer to do with my server set up but I could do with a pointer please.
Thanks.
p.s. could still do with understanding my previous post as I would like to get working with the new version of ZenCart
This is due to differences between PHP 4 and PHP 5. The variable '0' for the checkboxes on the config form that are unchecked do not get passed at all, resulting in missing values instead of zero. This has been fixed in QBI v3.1, which will be released very soon -- maybe this weekend if I find enough time to work on it.Quote:

You don't say what you were trying to do -- import customers, products, or orders, and how many you have. If you are trying to import a huge number of past customers or orders, you could hit a PHP timeout, or it could be stuck for some reason.Quote:

Adam,
thanks again for your reply.
If I do not use model field how can I populate the model field with the product id from the data base.
The product file generated is missing product if the model field is blank
thanks
MG
p.s. can I help with the mapping of the iif fields in any way for the UK . What info would you need?

Sorry, I spoke too soon before I truly understood how this works! :lamo:Quote:

I cannot figure out why my matched items are being added as new "service" type items. Any ideas?
:( :(
For the record, I am having the same troubles that Landshark was having:
Paypal is not importing as Paid Online and items are being created during import despite matching.
I am guessing that the item creation is because most of my products have multiple attributes. What i attempted to do was to create a QB item for each manufacturer and then match each cart item to the correct manufacturer figuring that would at least give me some sales detail. I thought that if I used matching the attribute issue wouldn't interfere, but apparently for multiple attributes it does.
(BTW, is there any quick way to unmatch my 600+ products?)
As for Paypal:
I noticed that in QBI->Match->Payment the shopping cart payment methods include payment methods that are not installed in my cart, and Paypal is listed as "Paypal(paypal)". I do have it matched to "Paypal". In QBI->Setup->Payment "Paypal" is defined as "Paid online".
As an aside, given the impact of importing orders when things are not setup properly, it would be fabulous if QBI offered importing of just one order, or a date range, or order number range, or something other than just import new orders or the last batch.
Landshark, I have PM'd you to see whether you have gotten anywhere w/ this.
I apologize to those trying to skim this thread for my many posts.

I have this error when trying to create / import an iif list file of product items file which I have exported from Quick books
Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in ..\admin\qbi_products.php on line 51
any thoughts please.
Thanks

Okay I am really having a battle with this.
If I don't have a model number I can seem to export the product and so a the moment I only have product withg any model info (not many as I have not really been using this field.)
I am also cconfused about how to get the product to list in the drop downs under the Match in order to do the mapping properly. I seem to be in a catch 22. Want to get the product into quick books (which is empty at moent) I have 6000+ combinations with attributes and don't want to retype but I can get them into quick books to then get them back out to map them for the purposes of stock control.
It has been a long day and I might be missing something. Sorry if I have missed the obvious.
Thanks

The manual also says that products with multiple attributes cannot be matched. I don't know whether you are using single or multiple attributes. I'll have to do a little more testing to be sure what QBI does w/ single attributes.
It all comes back to that great shortcoming in the stock Zen Cart, no support for attribute stock:no:
Audra
MG,
Run this statement in your MySQL interface:Quote:

Are you sure they are matched, and you clicked the button to save each match page after matching them? Items that aren't matched or don't exist in QB will import as services.Quote:

PayPal is not well supported at the moment. I am going to fix this in v3.10, so you won't have any problems. Version 3.10 will be out shortly -- it is taking a little longer as I add additional things to it.Quote:

I don't quite follow. QBI should be set up properly! You can't skip setting it up and expect it to work well!Quote:
