Yes, it's the latest version, at least the last I could find.
I'm having one problem: The weekday name doesn't shows as it should and does everywhere els in the shop. I'm using Swedish language and the DATE_FORMAT_LONG is set to %A %e %B %Y in includes/language/swedish.php. It's just the day that contains å, ä, ö that isn't showing, the rest day works fine as the weekdays in English.
Could someone please help me, I'm clueless! :frusty:
Seems that is is a gonfiguration problem on my host :(
Thanks Beez.
hey all,
ben through this thread a few times and got the news working on 3.1.7. just sorting the problems with the layout not being 100% right.
One thing i have noticed is that in firefox the sidebox scroller is a nice speed and in ie it is far to fast to read.
has anybody had this or is it just me. if any body has time can you check if it is jsut my pc or everywere. thanks
www.freelance-sa.co.za
shot
also just noticed that as you scroll down the page it goes faster (in fire fox)
cannot tell in ie as it is already going full speed.
all in all a cool add on
hey all, quick update: got the scrolls working the same speed in ie and ff. looks like the:
admin -> config -> news & articles manager -> "News Sidebox Scroller Delay" is only changeing settings for ie did not do any thing for ff
and the:
admin -> config -> news & articles manager -> "News Sidebox Scroller Amount" is only changeing settings for ff
could someone let me know if i am going mad, plz
thanks
so i am guessing that it is only me with the speed issues?

Hi,
I just downloaded the News_Articles_Management_v2.110.zip from your website, and got that installed ok.
I also downloaded and installed Sidebox_Scroller_v1.000.zip from the website, but I have had issues with the SQL code, the Insert function works, but the update line:
UPDATE zen_configuration, zen_configuration_group SET configuration.configuration_group_id = configuration_group.configuration_group_id WHERE configuration_group.configuration_group_title = 'News & Articles Management' AND configuration.configuration_group_id = '2504';
doesn't work.
My tables in the database for zen cart start with zen_ then the table name.
Its also not showing up in the Layout Boxes Controller either.
Is there any security updates I need to know? Plus can I delete or force the user to login to post a comment?
The site it's running on is www.themobilephonesite.co.uk I'm using a template I bought, and I have further customised it and some slight changes to zen cart, but these won't effect this script.
I'm running the latest fully patch install of zen cart.
Thanks, Matt Auckland.
Hi
Can one look at my page and tell me how can I remove the backgrounds Text of Zen news?
Is that has anything to do with my Thread 113 on this page?
Still waiting on help on that issue
Thank you
I might be able to help you on that. It's in the code for the page.
I need to make some layout changes to mine on Monday to make it fit the template I'm using, so once I have looked at the code and located the eliments to remove I will post that here.
If some once can give me some help on my problem above that would be great!
Thanks
Matt Auckland :bigups:
Thank you Matt
Any one can help me on that issue please? Thread 115
Thank you
I have found the file to edit, and the CSS. :smartalec:
If you look on the site I'm working on ( www.themobilephonesite.co.uk ) you will see I have made some changes.
When the laptop is on tomorrow, I will post the file locations for you.
I still need a reply on my issue, but I'm not holding my breath. :frusty:
Matt
The background text of Recent Zen Cart News is found in includes/languages/english/news.php
All the page headings are in there.
The reason its big is possibly something to do with the CSS.
Matt :smartalec:
Hi Matt
Thanks for getting back on this issue.
I will look in that page and see if i can make sense of what to change there.
Thank you
Am I the only one not getting Email when their is a post in a Thread i am subscribe to?
It is set on Instant notification by email, and my Email are correct in my Control Panel.
BY the way , I could not figure out what I supposed to change in there. ( for the news issue )
Any way ty , it is a start
Check your junk mail folder. I have found that Hotmail seems to filter all sorts of emails as junk.
I have also found during the setup of Zen Cart that every email from the store, is being filtered as Junk mail in Hotmail and BT Yahoo Mail.
I can asume that it is down to the html and css code used to build the emails, which can be found in the email directory.
I have in the past built my own HTML based emails to email to bulk users on other systems, and never had an issue.
I'm looking into this at the moment.
Can anyone help me out on my original issue???
Matt
Humm, :no: nothing wrong with my outgoing mail servers/mail sending policy.
And I am my own ISP.
This issue only happens when receiving in Hotmail and BT Yahoo Mail that I have tested so far. No problems collecting through Outlook or Outlook Express.
Matt
Hello,
GREAT MOD..thanks a lot...
sorry for asking the obvious, but where do I do that?Quote:
remove the breadcrumb from the news templates
Can anyone please indicate me how to change the style? For example
http://www.clickyshop.com/new_shop1/...main_page=news
I would like to have the light blue header shorter and centered, same with the grey line.
thanks in advanced.
regards,
kruna
If you look in the CSS file(s) that come with the package its all in there.
Matt
I know it is in the stylesheet_new.css, this is what I am trying all the time, but somehow the changes take no affect, nor do I find the breadcrumb there.
Any idea?

kruna

I am getting this on my site Poser Underground when I go to the cart
Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in?
This is the main define statement for the page for english when no template defined file exists. It is located in: /includes/languages/english/index.php
Define your main Index page copy here.
What would be a fix for this?
That's to do with your template of your site.
Check you have setup your template for Zen Cart correctly.
Its not a fault to do with the news pluggin, as I have the same file but because I'm using a template, and it is installed and running I don't see it.
Matt
I really do apologize again for jumping in again...but I really need some help on this...is there anyone who has an idea?Quote:

Any help is very much appreciated.

To be honest I'm not sure, but the following should help.
A quick solution would be to edit index.php file and change the following line:-
define('TEXT_MAIN','This is the main define statement for the page for english when no template defined file exists. It is located in: <strong>/includes/languages/english/index.php</strong>');
But only change the text I have displayed in Italic. Leave the rest as is.
Something else to check, is that your template is installed correctly into zen cart and it is set as the default template.
Goto > Tools > Template Section
Click on the Default(All) line, and then select Edit. Now select your template name from the drop down list and click on Update.
Repeat this for English as well.
Should end up looking like this:-
http://www.themobilephonesite.co.uk/zenforum.jpg
Hope that helps.
Personaly I'm writting my own ecommerce system now. Had a nightmare with Zen Cart, a real learning curve. I'm not dismissing it out of hand as its great for low cost (as in non) but I could build something quicker (as in functioning), and cleaner in php.
thank you very much for offering help, sure I will wait, no problem.
Will try out your suggestion and let you know...
HAve a good night and by the way, when you wake up, I will be sleeping...:D, here in Guatemala it is 3:55pm

laughingbuddha - tried your suggestion to no avail. Template selection is like yours. I am tired and still not even 9PM here and I am ready for bed, which is rare due to I usually don't even think about bed till 1 or 2 AM. I will look into it more later.:wacko:
Sorry, if I put my 2 cents, but if I understood right, you would like to change the text under the welcome guets, right?Quote:

If you dont find it where it is said to be located, try in the admin:
Tools/developers tool kit
At the bottom it says:
enter part of the text you would like to change for example :Quote:
Look-up in all files Key or Name:
main define statement and choose infrom dropdown ´All files - cataloge/adminQuote:
All Files Look-ups:
Hopefully you get the result where to locate the file...
Good luck...
regards,
kruna
Sorry if Iwas not clear,
when you enter in admin:
tools>developers tool kit
at the bottom of the page you will find something likeLook-up in all files and the you are asked to enter some key words, in your case it could be for example main define statement (type it in there, please)
Then looking at the same line on the right, you are asked to enter WHERE to look for, it is saying
All Files Look-ups: and NONE is determined, you have to chose from this dropdown menu All files - cataloge/admin
Hit the ´search´ button and hopefully it will be shown all files containg the key words...
Please let me know, if I still was not explaining enough...
regards,
kruna
In that case try using my first option, and edit the file called /includes/languages/english/index.php
The includes directory is in the root of your web space.
You see my site (www.themobilephonesite.co.uk) works differntly to yours. On the site I developed the template shows products in the middle field, by-passing Zen Carts default index page.
It appears (without being able to look at your file structure) that your template doesn't work in the same way.
If you edit that file above as I mentioned in my first post, it may solve the problem.
Open it in Notepad (in Windows it's what I always use, or you could download Komodo Edit).
Open that file and edit the following line:-
define('TEXT_MAIN','This is the main define statement for the page for english when no template defined file exists. It is located in: <strong>/includes/languages/english/index.php</strong>');
So it looks something like this:-
define('TEXT_MAIN','Hi and welcome to the Poser Underground online store!');
Then save it, and upload. Always backup the old file just incase something goes wrong.
Matt
Hi Kruna,
I can't find your news section. Can you send me another link so I can see what the problem is and try to assist you.
Matt
Thanks a lot for help, sure...
Here is the news section of my new site... (it is not live yet)
http://www.clickyshop.com/tienda1_ne...main_page=news
regards,
kruna
Does this one work well in 1.3.7 with no bug? I want to have a news section for my site and wordpress integration does not work well for me.
Regards
Yeah works fine with the latest version, after all I'm running it on the latest one.
Only issue I had was with the news scroller side box. Couldn't get that to work.
Right I'm on the case. I'm think some CSS magic might be the answer, just need to locate the pages that effect the layout.
Just to check, have you copied all the CSS files into the right place?
If you have a template like I do you need to make sure the following files are in the right place.
Make sure that stylesheet_news.css is in:-
includes/templates/Your Templates Directory Mine is delta-843/css/
Reason I ask is that the images on my news articles are aligned to the right, and not the left like yours.
Matt
Thank you Matt for any hints, but yes I do have the news.css in the right folders...the odd thing is (at least to me) that when I use the FF web developer to view the style information it says...NO INFO...:mellow:
Any idea :blush:?
reagrds,
kruna
I use Notepad in windows to edit the stylesheet_news.css file.
I don't use or know what FF is.
If you can't use Notepad Wordpad is another good option, or failing that Dreamweaver can read them happy.
If your still not getting any results from viewing it in any of them, then chances are the file is corrupt, which would be why the styles aren't being applied to your site.
If that's the case let me know and I will stick my stylesheet_news.css file up so you can download it.
Matt
Thanks MAtt,
FF is Firefox and I have an addon called Webdeveloper, it is pretty good for newbe´s like me.
So when I wanted to change something I easily found it with this tool, but these two things (second thing would be the text of the article) I cant get changed.
Another question I had...how do I delete images again...I havent seen any delete button or else.
Well it would be great if you could send it, I really have no solution anymore, tried out everything I could without success...
thanks a lot in advanced.
regards,
kruna
That Worked thanks
Attachment 2656
I had to zip it up to get it on the forum.
Just unzip and replace your current stylesheet_news.css which should be in:
includes/templates/ name of template forlder /css/
Hopefully that will do the job.
I don't tend to use fire fox much only for testing development work.
Matt
Glad to see its sorted.
Hello Matt,
thanks a lot for teh file, but unfortunalty it didnt work either. It even didnt change anything.
I may should upload teh mod again to see if it helps..
REgards,
kruna
also uploading all the files doesnt change anything....the only idea which comes to mu mind is that it may have to do something with the .sql, would this be possible?
regards,
kruna
Just had a look at the SQL code and no. Nothing that seems to effect the layout of the page.
Try reloading everything. Failing that I will take a look it again later today.

I try to see in my admin but could not find it anywhere
Thank you
Hi Clyde
Work perfect
Thank you
I was about to say the same thing :smartalec:
oops wrong thread
I had the same problem, for me the solution was to modify the UPDATE part of the query tio include the zen_ prefix. I did this in phpMyAdmin, but you could probably also do it useing the Admin->SQL Update option. The correct sql should be:
PLEASE, backup your DB before you try it!Code:UPDATE zen_configuration, zen_configuration_group SET zen_configuration.configuration_group_id = zen_configuration_group.configuration_group_id WHERE zen_configuration_group.configuration_group_title = 'News & Articles Management' AND zen_configuration.configuration_group_id = '2504'
Does this work with v. 1.37?
Anyone have the problem seen here:
http://shop.triplemoonsexotic.com/in...main_page=news
And have a fix for it?
<BUMP>
Still no solution for this???
I doubt that naybody else will have seen this, as it's most likely due to the combination of a template that dispenses with Zen Cart's core layout tables and relies instead on floats to hold everything else in place, and this mod which doesn't know anything about that need for floats.
This is further complicated by the apparent absence of a div wrapped around the main content to which to apply the missing float. It's difficult to tell whether this is due to the mod, or other changes that have been made, as you have rather a lot of validation errors on the site, many of which are adversely affecting each page's structure.
Ahhh, ok. So perhaps then I can't use this mod with this template?
Thanks for the reply! :)
I could be 100% sure, but at a quick glance it appears to be an issue with your tables.
If you open the page in your browser and do View Source, then look for "Shipping is a necessary evil" you will see that the containing table is set with a width of 100%. This will always fill to the max space going over your gray border at the right hand side.
As for the Date and Zen Cart News title, you could always edit the code of the news app to put these in a table instead of DIV to meet your templates needs, and change the CSS to match your sites colour scheme.
I did this at this site for my client. http://www.themobilephonesite.co.uk/...main_page=news
Matt
i have some question about this modules : I would like customer see all of recent news in past as name not date like now .
How to do that ? :lookaroun
Thanks for the reply! :smile:
I've finally had time to sit down and take a look at this, and it's not the 100% table I inserted (the "Shipping is a necessary evil" part). I knocked it down to 75% and it's still doing it because it's the actual module.
What/where did you edit to make it fit on the site you linked?
I've been having a problem for a while and have tried about everything in the stylesheet I can think of with no luck. It's happening in 2 stores, one v1.37 and the other v1.38a.
:frusty:
Everything is aligned so far left, it is almost running off the center column. I have tried padding, margins, and several other things I've looked up about css.
If I've missed the fix in this rather long thread - my apologies.
Any help getting my news articles to go to the right would be greatly appreciated.
thank you,
betty
Hey bettysue, do you have a link so I can checkout your problem? I'll be able to help you much better that way.
- Jonah
Sure Jonah, I appreciate it. Just don't laugh too hard when you see some of the padding I left on the stylesheet...little things out of desperation like a left padding of 120px..lol
http://www.carefree##################.com/
thank you for your help, it is much appreciated!! btw This is the v1.38a store.
betty
It looks fine right now, aside from hugging the center column like you said is the problem. :)
There are a couple of ways I can think of to do this...
1. The least involved would probably be to just create a wrapper div around where you put your news into the page template. For example, this code you insert into whatever page is going to display your news:
Instead of that, just wrap it in a div like so:Code:<?php include(DIR_WS_MODULES . zen_get_module_directory(FILENAME_NEWS_SUMMARY_MODULE)); ?>
And then style the div with your desired margin/padding or whatever. You can even use the cascade to then style classes or items within the new div.Code:<div id="news"><?php include(DIR_WS_MODULES . zen_get_module_directory(FILENAME_NEWS_SUMMARY_MODULE)); ?></div>
2. The next option, a little more difficult and will require delving into PHP is to modify the news.php class. This is located @ includes/classes/news.php (and by the way, make sure you know all about overrides and backup your site before doing a lot of this type of stuff). It's not fully customizable but there are some things you can do... If you look at this code (starting at line 27):
...you can see where the markup is created for the news content. If you want you can change classes or add markup to customize the plugin more. For example before line 28 you could add your news wrapper div:Code:function newsHeader($header, $date, $links_array = false) {
$this->news_page .= '<div class="newsHeader"><h1>' . $header . '</h1></div>' . "\n";
$this->news_page .= '<div class="newsHeadlineText">' . $date;
if ($links_array && is_array($links_array)) {
foreach ($links_array as $link) {
$this->news_page .= ' | <a href="' . $link['link'] . '">' . $link['text'] . '</a>';
}
}
$this->news_page .= '</div>' . "\n";
$this->clearSplit();
return true;
}
You could add:Code:$this->news_page .= '<div class="newsHeader"><h1>' . $header . '</h1></div>' . "\n";
...Just make sure you close things like divs where they should be closed, you'll have to figure that out.Code:$this->news_page .= '<div id="news"><div class="newsHeader"><h1>' . $header . '</h1></div>' . "\n";
3. And finally another option would be to try and setup or modify some of the style declarations for the news markup. Maybe you've already tried this, but, taking a look at the markup via View Source you'll see:
You can try setting styles for some of the classes in there. If you wanted to apply the same style to everything just wrap each class into one declaration:HTML Code:<div class="newsHeader"><h1>Carefree Golf News</h1></div>
<div class="newsHeadlineText">THURSDAY 20 DECEMBER, 2007 | <a href="http://www.carefree##################.com/index.php?main_page=news_rss"><img src="includes/templates/custom/images/icons/news_rss.gif" alt="RSS Feed" title=" RSS Feed " width="15" height="9" /></a></div>
<div class="clearSplit"><hr /></div>

<div class="clearSplit"><hr /></div>
<p class="articleText"><a href="http://www.carefree##################.com/index.php?main_page=news_archive">News archive</a></p>
Theres a few different options and hopefully one will work for you. Good luck!Code:.newsHeader,.newsHeadlineText
,.articleLinkList,.articleText { margin-left: 20px; padding: 20px; ... etc }
- Jonah
Wow Jonah...and I thought I had a headache before!!!!
Am I the only one having this problem??? I'm just using the default template. It may not look like it, but that's all it is.
As far as "whatever page is going to display the news" I would assume that would be the assorted news templates. Is that what you are referring to for the first solution?
For solution #2, I do know all about overrides, as I customize every store I do. What I don't know all about is php. Thus my problem, as usual. I can get partway there, but never quite all the way.
So I guess I'll have to try for solution Number one.
thank you,
betty
Jonah had it right with the first suggestion, wrapping the complete News article(s) in a Wrapper and applying CSS to the Wrapper.
I'm not familiar with this Mod but I do wonder about this:
# !-- eof upload alerts -->
#
# <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2">
# <tr>
# <td class="breadCrumb"> </td>
# </tr>
# </table>
Should give the same, blank space, effect.Quote:
<br /><br class="clearBoth />
Not sure about all the other styling changes suggested by Jonah but the first is where you would start.
Hi guys,
I have a quick question. What file do I have to edit to make the writing "Motorcycle News" smaller on this page:
[FONT=Arial]http://www.xtreme-stunts.com/index.php?main_page=news_archive[/FONT]
Thanks a lot!!
Hi,
how can i reduce the size of the "zen cart news" header at the top of the articles and possibly change spacing
what file is thta driven by - it is overwriting the date
I tried to add this line to my stylesheet_news.css. It looks as below. Do I have to edit out the old .newsHeader line because it didn't change anything?

Please don't post whole stylesheets. It just clutters up the forum. The reason that this isn't having an effect for you is because you didn't specify any units (e.g. px, em, pt, %) so browsers don't know what to do with the line you added and so just ignore it.
Hello all,

Thanks you!
Hi there happy Zenners. :) I have been playing around with this mod. I thought it just wasn't working at first until I typed =news into the address box and found that it was in fact working there.
So my dillemma is, I followed the directions on Dream Scape" website in the optional install where you add this:
<?php include(DIR_WS_MODULES . zen_get_module_directory(FILENAME_NEWS_SUMMARY_MODULE)); ?>
into tpl_index_default.php.
I did not just copy the page they provided since it was suggested somewhere in this thread not to. It is not showing up on the main page at all. I added it right below the php snippet for the greeting. I was carful to make sure that it wasn't in the middle on some other elements line of code. I did not install the other optional meta thing.
I am using the current version of ZC and would think that if it was incompatable that it wouldn't work at all wouldn't it?
Any way here are my links:

http://www.libragear.com/zencart/ind...main_page=news
Code on the tpl page to follow...
Thanks a bunch folks. :) Happy Zen.
Hi all. :) I guess my last post didn't show up. hmm... sorry if this ends up being a double post. Anyway I am having trouble with this mod not showing up on my main page. It seems to be working fine at its address, but that is not where I want is. Of course right. It never is. :P I followed the directions on Dream Scape's website to put this line of code where you want it.
Here is the code snippet from tpl_index_default.php. Thanks again guys. :)
<?php if (DEFINE_MAIN_PAGE_STATUS >= 1 and DEFINE_MAIN_PAGE_STATUS <= 2) { ?>
<?php
/**
* get the Define Main Page Text
*/
?>
<div id="indexDefaultMainContent" class="content"><?php require($define_page); ?></div>
<?php } ?>
<?php include(DIR_WS_MODULES . zen_get_module_directory(FILENAME_NEWS_SUMMARY_MODULE)); ?>
<?php } ?>
<?php
$show_display_category = $db->Execute(SQL_SHOW_PRODUCT_INFO_MAIN);
while (!$show_display_category->EOF) {
?>
So I guess my quandary is what am I missing?
Here is a link to the site and the news:

Thanks in advance everyone. Have a great night. :)

Hi libragear,
I had teh same thing and I was never aware that it should/could be different. Anyway I solved the problem by adding it as a link with EZ-Pages.
May not be what you are looking for, but still a solution, you can see it it in my signature, where it says NOTICIAS
regards,
kruna
Hi Kruna. :) Thanks for answering. Not quite what I was looking for, but a nice work around. I like it. :) I think I will borrow it. Thanks again. :) Have a great day.
And PS if anyone can still answer the original ? Feel free. :) *waves*
Kate
I got it to work on the Main page. :) YAY! Just so that anyone reading this wont run into the same thing:
The install directions tell you to put this line of code:
somewhere in this file:PHP Code:
<?php include(DIR_WS_MODULES . zen_get_module_directory(FILENAME_NEWS_SUMMARY_MODULE)); ?>
The file you need to put it in is actually tpl_index_categories.php. :) I am still playing around with placement but everything works great for now. :)Quote:
includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_index_default.php

Have a wonderful and codey day!

My luck is in ! I was just checking the forum to see if there was a way of placing the news page within my main page and here it is already !
I intend to have my main page content divided into 2 or even 3 columns with the news in one of those columns and your little line of code is just what i was looking for.
Fantastic and cheers !!
Dylan
Hi,
I'm trying to concentrate on personalising the display on the news_summary and also on the news default...
I'm having trouble to add a div around the image as I would like to personnalise just the image style on both these places. I'm not very familiar with php so unable to add the code that will display my div around the image.
Not looking for someone to hold my hand from A to Z... but could you point me out in the right direction...
I have tried modifying :
IMG.articleImage { border: 3px double #9a9a9a; padding: 0; margin: 10px 10px 10px 10px;}
in the css but this doesn't have any effect on my image display
I can't give a direct link to a specific news, because I will be playing around with these... But basicaly you can see the news and access it on my home page here : www.NetJuggler.net
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
One more question - is there a quick way of me putting the main news page into my front page in a similar way ?
ie - is there a main news page equivalent to FILENAME_NEWS_SUMMARY_MODULE that I can substitute ?
Or does it gt more complex if I was to put teh news page into it ?
Dylan
does anyone know of a quick way of getting more than one "main" story showing on the homepage.
by main story i mean showning image, headline and intro text.
I looked through the thread and couldn't find the answer, although its a long thread and I could have missed it.
almost forgot... this is a brilliant contribution thanks Joshua
Hey Steve. :) I spent the morning searching for an answer, On one of the beginning pages of this post Joshua states that you cannot do this without reprogramming the mod. *sigh* I was hoping the answer was yes also. The only workaround I see is to make several posts a day, then at least the links show up there. lol. not very practical. There is an archive link though so people can see what came in the past. LA!
Of course I am a fledgling in PHP, so there may be a way..
:) Kate
Thanks for the info Kate, I was hoping someone had done this and might save me the work, but as they haven't I guess I'll have a crack at it myself.
If I do find a way I will post my solution for others.
OK so I've had a go at changing the news summary on the homepage and I've got something working, but before you look please bear in mind my enthusiasm far out weighs my skill so the coding is probably not the best ever seen.
Please bear in mind the following
The amount of news items is set in the query (limit 5).
It gets the last few articles added(5 in code) not sorted by date.
I haven't done anything with the languages, so if you need translations, you'll need to code them in.
There isn't any links to the news archive as the original, but you could add a simple href link if needed.
There is no styling on it so you would need to add divs and class as required.
It works for me, but that doesn't mean it will for you, please test extensively before using on live shop.
That said I hope this helps somebody, and maybe give someone more talented than me a starting point to improve and tweak the code.
This code replaced the code in the includes/modules/news_summary.php file
<?php
// this query uses part of the original news query, just simplified, if you need different languages that coding needs adding, to alter the amount of stories shown change the limit 5 to number required
$comments = $db->Execute("select n.article_id, nt.news_article_name, nt.news_article_shorttext, n.news_image, nt.news_image_text from " . TABLE_NEWS_ARTICLES . " n left join " . TABLE_NEWS_ARTICLES_TEXT . " nt on n.article_id = nt.article_id where n.news_status = '1' order by n.article_id desc limit 5 ");
while (!$comments->EOF)
{
// article_id is used for testing comment out when you ready to send this live
echo $comments->fields['article_id'];?><br /><?
echo $comments->fields['news_article_name'];?><br /><?
echo $comments->fields['news_article_shorttext'];?><br /><?
// get image for story
if ((zen_not_null($comments->fields['news_image'])) && file_exists(DIR_FS_CATALOG . DIR_WS_IMAGES . $comments->fields['news_image'])) {
$articleImage = zen_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . $comments->fields['news_image'], $comments->fields['news_image_text'], '', '', ' ');
echo $articleImage;
}
// get the url for the article and attach to a simple read more link
$articleLink = zen_href_link(FILENAME_NEWS_ARTICLE, 'article_id=' . $comments->fields['article_id']);
?>
<a href="<? echo $articleLink;?> ">Read more</a>
<?
// bit of space between articles, if you do this properly with css you can style this better
?><br /><br /><?
$comments->MoveNext();
}
// need to add link to rest of news here if required
?>
