I have a slight problem - I have the previous version of googlefroogle installed, and when I run the 1.26 patch, I get the following (patch code first)
I also now haveCode:UPDATE configuration SET configuration_title='The shipping options available for an item', configuration_value='', configuration_description='The shipping options available for an item' set_function='' WHERE configuration_key='GOOGLE_FROOGLE_SHIPPING';

Sorry for accusing your mod of being at fault - in fact, I have great respect for your mods, as they use excellent over-ride functionality.
Maybe you can turn your skills to a "mass edit" system? :)
I would certainly pay a contribution!
About what "mass edit" system you speak?
Well, there is this contribution, but as you can see, there are problems with it.Quote:

I just updated my froogle files from the latest contribution. All seemed to have worked. No errors were reported.
Now I did a search on Froogle and found out that my description got somehow screwed up. It reads like this:

What happend?
Andrew,
Right now I have v 1.2 21.04.2006 installed. If I want to upgrade to the latest version v 1.2.6 19.08.2006, What is the exact steps I need to follow? Thank you for your great mod.
Steve
Wow this is a long thread <rubs bloodshot eyes>...:blink:
If I missed the answers to these questions along the way, I apologize in advance.
1. Which version(s) of Zencart does the latest release of the mod work on?
2. Do you sign up for an account at froogle or google base, or both?
thank you,
betty
Okay I just added the Google/Froogle mod to my site and this is the error message Im getting:
started... Connection failed: uploads.google.com Upload failed...
2013 Lost connection to MySQL server during query
in:
[select count(*) as total from sessions where sesskey = 'a800b4c4e02b7cf1b742b0c6d121f485']
What have I done wrong? Thanks..
It works on 1.2 and 1.3 versions. Have you tried to sign up for an account? I believe you can no longer sign up at Froogle.

The feed has been rejected with the following comments:-
==================
1. Bad image_links: The image_links in your bulk upload are not working correctly. For example, the image_link for the item titled "Gift Certificate £5.00" does not work:
http://creationartisan.com/images/gv£5.gif
The correct image_link for this item is:
http://creationartisan.com/images/medium/gv%A35_MED.jpg
Please check that all the image_links in your bulk upload are working, or we will be unable to display your items' images.
==================
The links do actually work, but GoogleBase clearly doesn't like the "£" symbol, can the feed be automatically updated to replace "£" with "%A3"?
Second -
==================
2. Thumbnail images: Please include the largest images available for your items. If your images are less than 400 by 400 pixels, they will be enlarged, which will reduce the quality of your images. As a result, please make sure that your image URLs direct to full-sized images, rather than thumbnails. For example, the image URL for the item titled "Dry or Sensitive Skin Cream with Bergamot & Sandalwood" should be:
http://creationartisan.com/images/la...ma15ml_LRG.jpg
Instead of:
http://creationartisan.com/images/aroma15ml.gif
===================
I understand the logic of this one and I want my products to look their best, is it possible to have an option to force selection of a particular image size (I'm also using Tim Kroeger's Image-Handler v1.0-beta2 for Zen-Cart v1.2.6d contrib)
At the moment I'm manually updating the URLs.
Many thanks, Keith Adley
Googlefroogle work in zen-cart standarts procedures an does not support any 3D party contributions that break this standarts and zen-cart core logical.
Thanks Andrew, I figured that might be the case. I'll look to work something out for myself.
Keith
Does Googlefroogle still supports Ultimate SEO URL? I know the Google Sitemap does. For some reason the Googlefroogle file generates from my test site is not using SEO URL and the Google Sitemap generates SEO URL just fine.Quote:

I have an older version of what I assume is Andrew's Frooglegoogle feeder from june 1, 2006. I didn't get it from the breakmyzencart sight. I went to andrews site and downloaded the frooglegoogle feed to see if I could update it. when I tried to upload the update I got an error message.

Did you get "Page Cannot Be Displayed" when you clicked on it?
I tried right clicking and 'save target as'... but nothing happened.
The link you pasted is incomplete. Right click on the link I provided and click save target as.

I finally got the file to download this morning, but this one also has

With that, it seems to work. The file is generated and uploaded to google. I'll wait to see if I get an processing errors back from Google.

Ok! I got a new one for ya!
I tried to do the froogle upload thing from admin..... and it said the prices were all '0' for all 745 products on the froogle text file. Can you view the uploads file through the admin area?

Two questions, if I may: First, in step one after I create my feed and get the positive response that 399 records were processed, shouldn't those records be indicated? If I had them I could upload directly via FTP. All I get is:
Which, when I log onto my Froogle account Froogle tells me is 0 records.Quote:

Two, concerning permissions (of which I know nothing): What would the correct sequence be? 777? Also, The machine I am on is not Unix, so I believe that the CHMOD command does not work. If that is so, I'd be in a real bind.
As far as permissions are concerned, mine is set to 755 and it works fine. 777 has a security risk involved with it.. basically leaves it open for anyone to touch it. The problem is sometimes you absolutely have to use 777, so htaccess protection is recommended in those casesQuote:

If you can view it, great - you could upload this file on its own for the time being. If you can't view it.. theres a permission problem somewhere, so try out different permissions (777 should work no matter what, i would try 755 first). If you still can't get it to work.. I'm not sure what to do :(
Thanks for your response - More than likely, this is where my trouble is. When I change permissions to 755 (or 777) it reverts right back. I ran into this with another google module previously. (sitemap) I'm on a shared server that is not a unix so I'm unable to make the changes. Because of this I've been meaning to switch providers (to Camelot) for months now but haven't wanted to go through the change-over hassle. Looks like now it's a must. I do think it will alleviate a number of these issues.Quote:

optikalsaint,
I experienced the same problem with googlefroogle feeder & IH2.
You may want to use the froogle feeder contrib from the same developer site as IH2. The IH2 images are referenced correctly using this feeder.
There's only 1 or 2 basic utility functions different between the two contribs. I'll probably graft the best of both together for my puposes.
You can find it here http://breakmyzencart.com/froogle

Thanks for the info!
Thank you for this mod....I am running 1.2.2 on version 1.3.0.2 zencart and wondering if the below has been taken care of in recent releases of this mod -
Problem: Google says:
Change attribute format: Attribute values for the "category" are not as specific as other available, recommended attributes. For example, instead of including "category," we recommend that you include a "label" attribute.
Any insite appreciated.
Ok! Google Base Attributes:Quote:

Thanks, yes, I know I can do that but is there any plan to make this part of the mod? Also, wouldn't it be a good idea to have that column a list of metatag keywords to fit the froogle format?
Looks like GoogleBase is changing once again:
We're writing to all our top Froogle merchants to tell you about an
exciting development that will improve the search experience for our users
- and your potential customers. Namely, we'll soon be integrating product
search functionality into Google.com itself.
Through our "Refine Your Search" feature, users will now be able to shop
for products directly from our main search page, Google.com - which means
that you'll be able to reach a much broader audience than you can reach
with Froogle alone. Here's an example of how we've implemented this
experience for the autos category:
http://www.google.com/images/base/vehicles_f02b.jpg
In order to participate in this initiative, however, you must resend us
your data feed with the new Google Base attributes (the old Froogle
attributes will no longer work). We encourage you to send us as many
attributes about your products as possible; the more information you send,
the better chance you'll have of matching a "refinement" query.
You can learn more about attributes and the new Google Base format here:
http://base.google.com/base/products.html
Quote: "We're writing to all our top Froogle merchants"
Gosh i didn't get an email, don't i feel special. :(
I think we need to figure out a better google froogle feed that will put in the new attributes that froogle is asking for with the proper naming and also insert your colors, sizes, etc. available.
I'll contribute money to that cause if anyone wants to sell me their contribution. looking for it to be compatible with 1.3.0.1 and 1.3.5
thanks,
Andy

a few issues i came up against
1. making sure you not only that you change the permissions of the folder for the feed but also for the froogle.txt file. (if you generate a feed and you don't see any results this is probably your problem)
2. any kind of trademark symbols don't translate well. before you upload you may want to make sure all your product titles and descriptions do not have any of the TM or registered trademark symbols. You can edit them once they're uploaded but if you have quick updates installed this may be quicker from the zen admin.
3. automatic upload didn't work for me. the best way I found was to set up the bulk uploads at google base.
also...you want to make sure and add this little modification http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...6&postcount=39 because I had no errors when uploading and I'm sure this helped.
using zencart version 1.3.5
quick updates
google analytics
google sitemap
ultimate SEO URLs
mafiasam
thanks andrew...on my first froogle sale I'm gonna buy you a cup of coffee
Hi mafiasam,
Now I use htmlentities to convert all applicable characters to HTML entities.
Why?
What version you use? I fix it 29th July 2006:
Quote:
1. Add Encodes an ISO-8859-1 string to UTF-8;
2. Use Google Base fields name.

okay because I'm still having problems with this i think. where can someone who doesn't know how to code PHP learn how to implement htmlentities? I looked around and had a very hard time understanding this.Quote:

Good luck,
Andrew
anyways, some more help with htmlentities would be appreciated....
I am using the version you had on your site when i installed it last week. It says "v 1.2 21.04.2006 14:15 Andrew Berezin" in the header of the files.
I went ahead and reinstalled the file you have there on your site and didn't do any modification. we'll see what happens.
Okay has anyone else encountered this problem?Quote:
Hello Salvatore,
Thank you for submitting a bulk upload to Google Base. We've reviewed your bulk upload and need you to make changes. Your bulk upload has been disapproved due to the reason(s) listed below.
Issues:
1. Promotional text
2. Include recommended attributes
-----------------
1. Promotional text: Please don't include promotional or boilerplate text in your bulk upload. For example, text such as "SPECIAL PHARAOH'S CLUB PRICES! FROM NOW UNTIL ELECTION DAY!" should be removed from your items.
2. Include recommended attributes: We noticed that you haven't included some of the recommended attributes in your "Products" bulk upload. The more information you provide, the better we'll be able to match your items to users' queries. For example, you could include the attribute "payment_accepted" as this information is relevant to your items. Please visit the following links for more information, including a list of required and recommended attributes for "Products" bulk uploads:
http://base.google.com/support/bin/a...y?answer=27882
http://base.google.com/base/products.html
After you've made the necessary change(s), please upload a new version of your bulk upload. We'll notify you if we need you to make any additional corrections. Otherwise, we'll send you an email to let you know that your bulk upload has been approved.
Sincerely,
The Google Team
What is the easiest way to edit the info in the froogle feed file and how do i add attributes to the feed automatically?
mafiasam (salvatore)
I can't help with your texts :)Quote:

1. Promotional text
This is only recommendation. It's not a critical error.Quote:
2. Include recommended attributes
But, what additional attributes you want to add to the feed?
i was able to add the payment_accepted attribute with no problem.
i have been trying to add the expiration date but it won't accept any of the formats i use. is there any way to get this to work?
I added the header expiration_date and used 11-30-2006 as suggested as text and even used a format from excel 11/30/06 but none of these work. it won't accept the expiration date at all and apparently now these are required so this will have to be worked into the module.
please help.
mafiasam (salvatore)
well, in my last ditch effort to get this to work I actually was able to get the date format right. my problem was that I was putting the year at the end not at the front. needed to be like this 2006-11-07. opened the froogle.txt with excel. used excel to add the column/header and was able to do all my text edits and formatted the date column to be text only. seems to work. when saving the froogle.txt in excel it prompts that the document "may contain features that are not compatible with text(tab delimited). do you want to keep the workbook in this format?" I click yes and then click no when closing excel.
it works but since this expiration_date header is required shouldn't this be added to the mod?
I was testing the frooglegoogle feeder and I got this error message:
How can I fix it?Quote:
Froogle Data Feeder started 2006/10/11 15:13:30 Feed file - /home/public_html/username/feed/froogle.txt
Warning: chmod() [function.chmod]: Operation not permitted in /home/username/public_html/googlefroogle.php on line 91

check the permissions of the folder.. should be 755 or 777
if that doesn't work, ask your host about chmod.. if its allowed or not through PHP
Thanks for the help. Now I have another problem. I got this from google base when I tried to upload my files from my admin section:
I am using the latest version of image handler along with utlimate SEO.Quote:
Bad image_links: The image_links in your bulk upload are not working correctly. For example, the image_link for the item titled "Canon Wordtank G55 Electronic Dictionary" does not work:
http://www.books-japan-online.com/im...nk-g55_LRG.jpg
The correct image_link for this item is:
http://www.books-japan-online.com/im...rdtank-g55.jpg
Please check that all the image_links in your bulk upload are working, or we will be unable to display your items' images.
Alright I checked the includes/images/large folder and their are no files their. I am using the latest version of image handler on books japan online. On my other site cool tech central I am still using the older version of image handler. They both have the medium and Lage folders in includes images, but the don't show up in on the updated version of image handler. Anyone having this same issue?
Just found out that Image handler2 doesn't actually create an image,
it creates cache images
thats whats stored in the BMZ folder. so is their away to get the original files to generate in googlefroogle.php?
function zen_froogle_image_url($products_image) {
global $product_image_module;
if($products_image == "") return "";
require($product_image_module);
return (HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . $products_image_large);
Well, it looks like they expire after thirty days anyway. the only time that you may not want them to expire in thirty days is if you have a sale and the item price is going to change within those thirty days.
for instance I set my expiration date for 2006-11-30 for most of my items but google base ended up setting the expiration date on those items to 2006-11-09 which is thirty days after I posted them.
the items i entered with 2006-11-07 were sale items I wanted to expire on election day here and their expiration posted for that date...2006-11-07...which is what I wanted.
So I guess that a constant would be a thirty day expiration after the generation of the file. I'm not sure how you would grab the expiration date for specials/sale items but i'm sure you know more about that than I do.
If you're using IH handler changetoPHP Code:
return (HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . $products_image_large);
That worked for me but I am not sure if that's the most efficient way to fix the problem.PHP Code:
return (HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . DIR_WS_IMAGES . $products_image);
This option is only if you're using IH2 otherwise the original code should work just fine.
Hi Andrew,
Thanks - the expiration date works fine :smile:
Just one small thing I noticed ...
1. I see you've hard-coded the OFFER_ID directly in googlefroogle.php:
(so it can't be set true/false anymore) but the code for setting OFFER_ID true/false is still showing in admin->configuration->googlefroogle config - did you maybe forget to take that out? :smile:PHP Code:
$output = "title \t description \t link \t price \t image_link \t expiration_date \t label \t id" .
No, I don't forget it. ID is Required attribute.
Google so quickly changes rules! Now all Recomended attributes became Required attributes -- http://base.google.com/base/products.html
Yes, they change the rules very quickly :smile:
What I was saying was that there is still an option to turn it off/on in admin->configuration->GoogleFroogle Configuration (which now does nothing). :smile:
Ok! I return Offer Id setting: id/model/false. If you select "false", feeder generate EMPTY field (not skipping).
Hi Andrew :smile:
I didn't mean 'put the true/false switch back in' - you are right: since OFFER_ID is now a required attribute then OFFER_ID needs to be hard-coded since everyone will need it set 'true'.
I just meant: 'take the switch to set it true/false out of the config in admin' :smile:
Hi Andrew,
Thanks - even better still :-) :smile:
A (little) bug though ...
This version is giving an extra tab ( \t ) at the end of the feed - whether options are selected or not - because the tabs are at the end of the data values.
Maybe move the "\t" to before the data values on lines 109 - 115, instead of after (as now), and remove the tab at the end of line 108?
Eg.
PHP Code:
zen_froogle_sanita($products->fields['products_name'], true) . "\t" .
zen_froogle_sanita($products->fields['products_description']) . "\t" .
str_replace('&', '&', zen_href_link(zen_get_info_page($products->fields['products_id']), 'products_id=' . $products->fields['products_id'] . $product_url_add, 'NONSSL', false)) . "\t" .
number_format($currencies->value(zen_add_tax($price, zen_get_tax_rate($products->fields['products_tax_class_id'])), true, GOOGLE_FROOGLE_CURRENCY), 2, '.', '') . "\t" .
zen_froogle_image_url($products->fields['products_image']) . "\t" .
zen_froogle_expiration_date($products->fields['products_date_added'], $products->fields['products_last_modified'], $products->fields['products_date_available']) . "\t" .
zen_froogle_get_category($products->fields['products_id']) .
(GOOGLE_FROOGLE_OFFER_ID == 'model' ? "\t" . $products->fields['products_model'] : (GOOGLE_FROOGLE_OFFER_ID == 'id' ? "\t" . $products->fields['products_id'] : '')) .
(GOOGLE_FROOGLE_IN_STOCK == 'true' ? "\t" . $products->fields['products_quantity'] : '') .
(GOOGLE_FROOGLE_SHIPPING != '' ? "\t" . GOOGLE_FROOGLE_SHIPPING : '') .
(GOOGLE_FROOGLE_MANUFACTURER == 'true' ?"\t" . zen_froogle_sanita($products->fields['manufacturers_name']) : '') .
(GOOGLE_FROOGLE_PRODUCT_TYPE_SHOW == 'true' ? "\t" . GOOGLE_FROOGLE_PRODUCT_TYPE : '') .
(GOOGLE_FROOGLE_LANGUAGE_DISPLAY == 'true' ? "\t" . $languages->fields['code'] : '') .
(GOOGLE_FROOGLE_CURRENCY_DISPLAY == 'true' ? "\t" . GOOGLE_FROOGLE_CURRENCY : '') .
"\n";
Got it installed right after a month.. It created the .txt file.. When I upload it I get this:
Froogle Data Feeder started 2006/10/17 21:16:57 Feed file - /home2/lhhgbh1/public_html/feed/froogle.txt Upload started... Upload Failed Connected to: uploads.google.comLogin ok:Current Directory Is: /Warning: ftp_put() [function.ftp-put]: Opening ASCII mode data connection for froogle.txt.
Upload failed...
Anyone know whats wrong?
Don't know if you've tried it since and got the same result, but Google Base was down for maintenance last night for a few hours - I tried a feed then too and got an error (although a different one from yours). It went through just now fine.
I just tried it and it says succesful, so I went straight into my Google Base to view items and they werent there yet.. How long does it take to show the upload accepted or the items to appear because when I go into my Bulk upload section it doesnt even show that it received the upload.. The uploading from a website is new to me, I have done submissions directly to Base before.. Thanks for the tip.. Glad I went back and did it..
It can take a few hours sometimes before it shows, occasionally longer. It should appear eventually. :smile:
I've noticed a couple of problems...
1.The date is not showing up in text format or the program is not converting it to the appropriate date format that google suggests which is 2006-10-18.
It shows up as 10/18/2006 and I'm not sure if google will accept that. - I am not sure because I modified the figures before sneding the file.
2. My froogle.txt file shows 316 records (actual products) but everytime I upload it I only see 314 items. ?? uploaded twice same result.
