That's right.
We've a new shipping module coming out this week though that supersedes this module and does allow you to set up rates per item rather than simply weight/price.

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
I've emailed Connor about the following issue, not realising he would be on holiday for so long! So I'm wondering if anyone else can help..
Simply put, my client wishes to enable free shipping to a list of UK postcodes, but ONLY when the order total is above £10
I thought this would be easy peasy to solve, but I was just wrong...
I tested the table rate as 10.00:5.00,99999999999:0.00, which obviously still displays when the order is under £10.00.
It did get me wondering, how I could the module to only display when the order was above that price.
Has anyone come across a similar issue? Ive got a feeling this would involve a fat load of coding to correct.
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
By any chance - does this module allow for different shipping options per vendor?

Well, I was off ill for 3 months so two weeks away seemed fair enough. ;)

What you'd be looking for is a way to say "disable this module for certain ranges". Eg:
10:-,*:0.00
(Where "-" would mean "disable method". "*" can be used instead of large numbers like 9999999 by the way! :) ).
The module doesn't have that option because no-one has ever asked for it. Why would a store deliver only if the order was over a certain value? Why not accept orders of any value but simply charge large shipping fees for small orders?
My guess is this is because you are using more than one shipping module and you are trying to configure the Region Tables module to only allow a free shipping option for a few postcode regions in addition to your standard rates. That's fair enough if you are but Region Tables was designed to be a one-module-for-all-methods shipping module and not to be used in conjunction with several other modules (except for the free shipping module of course).
If you do still require a change to the module in this way, rather than the change of mindset I've advocated above, please get in contact privately.
All the best...

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Question
Is this Region Tables module compatible with the generic table module. I have that one set up for all my areas except one that needs more customization and this module sounds perfect for that unless it will not work with the generic table module installed also.
Please advise. Sounds like an excellent addition to the Zen Cart modules.

It can indeed be used in conjunction with the Table module but your question is a little ambiguous so I can't give a definitive answer about whether or not it'll do exactly as you require.
I'd suggest you install the module and configure it as per the documentation, that way you can test it out and see if it does what you need!

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
Hey Conor, thanks for the reply.
Yeah, the clients request is very strange. If the order is over £10 and the customer lives inside the requested postcode area, the delivery is free. It was just hard working out how to completely remove the option from the shipping list when the order was under £10.
Not to worry! This is a fantastic module, another great addition to the UK zen cart revolution!

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
From the beta thread:

Quote:
[ADDED] Minimum limits can now be specified in the Table of Rates (e.g. 30-50:4.95 specifies a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 50).
How would you do the next bracket up, like 50.5 LBS ?
Would it be like this:
50.0001-100.00:6.95
Thus:
0-29.9999:3.95,30-50:4.95,50.0001-100.00:6.95
Many thanks

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
Hi Conor,
This shipping module is (almost) exactly what I was looking for. I have already sent people to your site to donate and download.
My question is: How can I get "this" to work? :frusty:
Region 1 Shipping Method 1 Table of Rates
30:10.00,5000:15%
Region 1 Shipping Method 2 Table of Rates
30:23.80,5000:65%
Is there a way that shipping can be based on a percentage of the total order when it is above $30?
Thanks
Dannie

Yes, that would create three brackets, any orders with a weight less than 10 or more than 100 would result in the method not being available. (To use a larger end bracket a wildcard, *, could be used instead but is not recommended when using the "Weight" calculation method.).
I'll be releasing an updated version of the module sometime today or tomorrow with a few bug fixes though so, especially if you use UK postcode matching, please check back to download the latest version!

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
Hi conor,
I am just about to install 'regiontables' on an Australian website and was wondering if your soon to be released version will have noted suggested mod to the function _regionMatchesRangeAU , that was mentioned on this forum page http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...=63608&page=10 by 'wojzilla' regarding australia having two 3 digit ranges of postcodes 800-909 and 200-221
Secondly, the website i am working on requires a local delivery zone set up that includes a limited range of postcodes and i plan to create a shipping fee rates to cover this zone, now for any person trying to purchase product outside this zone i would like a text message shown in shipping estimator or in cart to 'Contact Store' for alternative shipping arrangements, is this possible?
thanks in advance

Hi Conor,
it appears the answers lies in the configuration of regiontables under 'Customer's Address Not Covered' -> "should a message be displayed to the customer alerting them to the fact that they cannot have the order shipped to their address"

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
I am in the process of testing this add-in.
I live in Canada and the provinces are using postal codes where the first part of the code defines the prov then the city etc.
The format is L2G 7K9 (for my own code)
I want to ship free to L2E, L2G, L2H and L2J to name a few. (This covers Niagara Falls)
How would I tell the mod that?
I have tried CA/L2E, CA/L2G etc but it doesn't seem to like that.
Even to code for 25KM and we included the shipping gives an error.
Do I have to define the entrie postal code? That would be a very pain staking task.
Thanks
Robert

For Canadian postcodes (X9X 9X9), the module supports both Numerical Ranges (X9-9) and Alphabetic Ranges (X9X-X), so it can do what you require.
However, I've a feeling you haven't read the documentation properly as no slashes are used in the configuration, you should be using something similar to the following:
CA:L2E,CA:L2G,CA:L2H,CA:L2J
Or, with range support:
CA:L2E-J
Please note that the above range would include L2E, L2F, L2G, L2H, L2I and L2J.
I hope you like the module! New release is on its way very soon! :)

Unfortunately I can't find the file to edit.
I had already done a search through the entire site files to see if I could find the phrase but I was not able to.
Going through the docs doesn't tell me what file to edit either.
All the files in the shipping model and region tables are empty. Do I have to start coding this myself?

The three brackets created here are:
10-30

So orders less than 10 would actually cost £4.95!
What you should do to have the method disabled for orders less than 10 or more than 100 is set the Table of Rates to be like the following:

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
It's only a "conflicting overlap" because that is what you made it.
Try:
10-29:3.95,30-60:4.95,60-100:6.95
or
10-30:3.95,31-60:4.95,60-100:6.95
:D

Unfortunately neither of those is a good solution for this module as the first leaves out anything from 29.0001 to 29.9999 and the second 30.0001 to 30.9999!

Region Tables 1.4.0 Released!
Hi,
We're very pleased to announce the release of Region Tables 1.4.0!
The following changes and bugfixes are part of this release:
[UPDATED] Module configuration panel's layout improved.
[ADDED] Support for wildcard character in Postcode Range Definitions added.
[BUGFIX] UK postcodes weren't being matched properly. Now partial codes, such as 'B' for B1-99, won't match longer full codes, such as 'BT' or BT1-99.
[UPDATED] Australian postcode format parsing updated.
[UPDATED] Australian postcode support has had error message added.
[UPDATED] Version handling updated. Code moved from language file to main module.
[ADDED] Module now automatically disables itself if a configuration problem is identified.
[UPDATED] Free shipping items are no longer omitted from the order total calculations.
Check out the website for more info and downloads...
http://dev.ceon.net/web/zen-cart/regiontables
We hope you like this new release!
Upgrading instructions are included with the module. Upgrading is simple enough but will require a "Remove" and "Install" which will wipe all the region settings from your database, so make sure you have a note of your current settings. Unfortunately this is a limitation of the Region Tables module!
All the best...

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
Greetings,
I have gone over all the posts and configuration files and I can't figure this one out.
I am getting the following error:
Flat Rate
Module configuration error: No Geolocation functions found for country code "US".
I assume when it says Flat Rate it is referring to Region Tables because I only have Region Tables and UPS module installed. My admin is properly configured for my US post code, and I am trying to use Geolocation for deliver fees for distance from my store. I have checked, and double checked and Shipping/Packaging section is properly configured. Could anything else set this off?

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
My current situation is:
I am only shipping inside the U.S.
I have 7 zones within in the US. Each zone is based on zip code.
There is 3 methods of shipping (ground, ground to P.O. Boxes, and DHL 'rush').
There are 3 categories which determine the % rate of charge for shipping based on zone (orders less than $30, orders between $30-$499.99, and orders $500 and over).
Below is a chart displaying what I have explained above:

I have a very similar situation. Please read the following, which I copied from my actual thread post. Maybe someone here in this module thread can help those of us out with this type situation.
Quote:
Hello there. I've spent a week setting up shipping for a potential online store. We have some usual products that are fine utilizing UPS quote module and/or Table Rate for USPS first class mail packages.
But, we also have a unique line of product (billboard style cabinets) that exceed the weight limitations of carriers (the largest being 475lbs). It's a drop ship type dealer situation, where the shop that actually produces the product sends it out. They provided a table of UPS zone rates based on their location, etc. Region Tables module worked Perfectly!
On to my question:
It's a bit confusing, when testing the checkout, to have those rates in the Region Tables module showing for magazines, shirts, hats, and other small items we would be shipping. Based on several other forum posts, there are some people who seem to know how to possibly limit a shipping method to a specific category, given the master category ID matches, etc.
I must have missed the actual instruction on how to accomplish this, also with regard to the combination of shipping modules I am using. Would anyone be able to instruct me as to how to accomplish this, where the shipping method (region tables) we are using exclusively for the cabinet line can be hidden or not provided as an option when products from the "cabinet line" category are not present in the shopping cart?
Thanks for taking time to read this thread. As many people here, I'm on a time crunch and am trying to fulfill requirements set by my employer.
Thanks in advance!

How's it going? I've recently downloaded Regional Tables 1.4.0 and it seems to be an amazing program but unfortunately I've ran into a problem.
>In 'Regional Shipping Methods' I am using 3 different methods, the first uses a flat rate and the second and third I would like the cost of shipping to be a percent (%) of the product's cost.
I have too many products that change often to individually calculate this manually.

If I read your question right here we go
First of all in the setup section of the module do the following
set up calculation method as Price
Number of regions 7
Number of shipping types as 3
At this stage I would update this.
Go back into the module
Enter the zip codes for this region 1. Use blocks such as US:12458-25489,US:29874=31564, etc etc
Below this now you will see the 3 shipping type blocks. Lets say they are in the order of
Ground = Method 1
ground to PO = method 2
DHL = method 3
enter as follows in method 1 for Ground in region 1
29.99:xxx,499.99:xxxx,999999=xxxx where xxx = the shipping cost
In method 2 do the same for ground to PO box
and in method 3 DHL
Repeat this for each of the regions.
Once you have done this you need to modify the language file so everyone knows what you are on about
Go to includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/YOUR_Template/ and modify the regiontables.php file.
Example
define('MODULE_REGION_TABLES_REGION_1_TITLE', 'Northe East USA');
define('MODULE_REGION_TABLES_REGION_1_METHOD_1_TITLE', 'Ground Delivery approx 5 working days');
define('MODULE_REGION_TABLES_REGION_1_METHOD_2_TITLE', 'Ground to PO Box approx 5 days');
define('MODULE_REGION_TABLES_REGION_1_METHOD_3_TITLE', 'DHL RUSH Approx 2 working days.');
Do the same for each region and presto it's done.
If you wish to see it in action
www.golfuni.com.au/shop/ - Be aware this is an active shop but you can add something to your bag and click estimate shipping. For your assistance For the State use New South Wales postcode 2100. If you then update your location to Victoria 3125 you will see there are 3 shipping options instead of two on this one.
Hope this helps

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
Thank you very much for your help!
I've installed and set up the most I can and have ran into another problem. My shipping is based and calculated on a percentage (%) of the total amount.
For example if the total cost of your shopping cart is $50 and you are in Zone 2, then shipping ground is 15%, which would equal $7.50 for shipping.
I have far too many products which change very often, to be calculating shipping costs for each individual product. (Or maybe I'll have to.)
Is there any way Region Tables can accomplish this; calculating shipping costs based on a percentage of the total?

If you send me a PM with your order value brackets & the % amounts you charge for freight I'll quickly set a method price list for you. Takes about 5 minutes to do.

I am using the most recent version 1.4 and I have set up the zones tables, (twice actually....LOL), but both times, when I tried the shipping estimator, I don't get the table rates. I get the store pickup, ant the shipping per unit option, but never the zone table rates. I have the tables "installed" through ADMIN/modules/shipping.
Any idea where to look for the problem?

Did you mark the first option
Enable Region Tables Method to

Yes. I have checked that option. I was not sure if there was another switch somewhere else that I may have missed.

Yeah. The link now goes to a module that costs £50 :(

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
Why for open source like this we need to pay for something that important. it became so useless. Can anybody send me region tables or some solution to this problem. Thanks

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
You don't have to pay. If you search these forums you will find countless threads covering almost every conceivable shipping configuration and many solutions to problems posed.
If you want to take a short cut and hit the ground running Conor has already done all the work and his module is well worth it.
You just have to decide which route you want to take but complaining about someone who has done an awful lot for this community is counter productive. If you search you'll find he also supports some very good free modules.

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
anyone else having trouble with the default region (I'm using 1.3.8)?
I'm sure it used to work properly last year, but can't figure out what has changed to cause the problem...
I'm using three regions and each region has three shipping methods...
1st region (local delivery) is the cheapest
2nd region (postcodes our courier delivers to) is the second cheapest
and the 3rd region uses the "catch all" GB for postcodes not used by our courier... by far the most expensive region.
now the shipping estimator shows the third region's prices by default until the user puts their postode in... but most people just see region 3's ridiculously high prices and run away before putting in their postcode for an accurate (and almost definitely cheaper) quote... very frustrating...
(yes, I have tried selecting region 1 as the default in the module's UI)
Many thanks if you can help!

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
I have tried the module on a fresh install of 1.3.8 and it does the same thing, so I am wondering if it isn't fully compatible with this version of ZC... don't know how it would work on the new one that has just come out...
I've come up with a work around for this problem... instead of using "gb" (the catch all if every other region fails to match) as the final region, I used:
HTML Code:
GB:AB,GB:AL,GB:B,GB:BA,GB:BB,GB:BD,GB:BH,GB:BL,GB:BN,GB:BR,GB:BS,GB:BT,GB:CA,GB:CB,GB:CF,GB:CH,GB:CM,GB:CO,GB:CR,GB:CT,GB:CV,GB:CW,GB:DA,GB:DD,GB:DE,GB:DG,GB:DH,GB:DL,GB:DN,GB:DT,GB:DY,GB:E,GB:EC,GB:EH,GB:EN,GB:EX,GB:FK,GB:FY,GB:G,GB:GL,GB:GU,GB:HA,GB:HD,GB:HG,GB:HP,GB:HR,GB:HS,GB:HU,GB:HX,GB:IG,GB:IP,GB:IV,GB:KA,GB:KT,GB:KW,GB:KY,GB:L,GB:LA,GB:LD,GB:LE,GB:LL,GB:LN,GB:LS,GB:LU,GB:M,GB:ME,GB:MK,GB:ML,GB:N,GB:NE,GB:NG,GB:NN,GB:NP,GB:NR,GB:NW,GB:OL,GB:OX,GB:PA,GB:PE,GB:PH,GB:PL,GB:PO,GB:PR,GB:RG,GB:RH,GB:RM,GB:S,GB:SA,GB:SE,GB:SG,GB:SK,GB:SL,GB:SM,GB:SN,GB:SO,GB:SP,GB:SR,GB:SS,GB:ST,GB:SW,GB:SY,GB:,GB:TA,GB:TD,GB:TF,GB:TN,GB:TQ,GB:TR,GB:TS,GB:TW,GB:UB,GB:W,GB:WA,GB:WC,GB:WD,GB:WF ,GB:WN,GB:WR,GB:WS,GB:WV,GB:YO,GB:ZE
which should cover every postcode in the UK... so it is effectively the same as using "gb" except now the shipping estimator doesn't give a quote until the user enters their postcode, thus not scaring the life out of them with ridiculoulsy high shipping costs!

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
I have not read all 11 pages of this thread, but I clicked the link on the OP and felt a little baited and switched because 1) I didn't think advertising commercial scripts on the forum was allowed and 2) the post mentioned that donations would be appreciated. To go from an expectation of free to a cost of 50 pounds is a bit of a shock.
If this mod was originally written as a free (libre and gratis) mod, can I still aquire the files for that version? Will it work with 1.3.9g?

You haven't been baited, the module was discontinued, it didn't work well enough.
As you can see, no-one posts to this thread anymore. I'd rather this thread was deleted entirely.
If you need the functionality originally described for the module then simply write a module and release it yourself.
All the best..

Conor,
I wasn't trying to flame anyone. I'm sorry to hear that the module wasn't working well enough.
I am such a hack, I couldn't come close to writing this module in anything less than a decade.

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
Hi,
Sorry if I came across a bit strongly, I didn't mean to. I'm just swamped maintaining, releasing and supporting free Zen Cart updates as it is and the idea of supporting really old software on top of that would be a bit too much for me!
All the best..

......but yet you expect Conor to do it for you free of charge and you post a rather rude post when you find this is no longer so? :dontgetit
We are lucky that the likes of Conor, the Zen Cart Team and countless other coders have the grace to offer their software free of charge. Just remember though like you they too have to earn a living.
Just food for thought.

It's okay, I slightly overreacted, he's been polite, not out of bounds at all, slightly crossed lines initially I think.. thanks for looking out for me.. in this case all is okay.
Hope all is with you.. I'd imagine everyone's busy getting ready for Christmas now! :)
All the best..

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
Hello, Sorry if seems too easy to others, but the shipping module confuses me like crazy. I live in Connecticut USA. I don't know if it would be more difficult to allow sales outside of the USA or not. I guess if someone tells me how to do it, I can try.
I am presently using: v1.3.9h (current)
I have a Tax ID number, made sure I did everything correctly through the state, so I need to know how to just charge CT residents 6% sales tax as well.
What is the best way to create ship charges? By items, by weight, by location?
Thank you
Heather
And 3 minutes here til Midnight. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

You should post a more specific question as a NEW thread, otherwise few people will get to see it/be able to help you.

That is totally up to you.. I think it best to use a courier that is as cheap as possible as that will maximise sales.

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
Thank you for all of your work, I am sorry to find out it didn't work out. Can you tell me if you plan on attempting another go at this or if you know of another module out that would work as described? I am particularly interested in the zip code range per zone instead of having to type in every single zip code. I also need to find a module that will allow me to calculate by weight. I would be happy to donate or pay for a module for all of your hard work. Thanks.

Re: Region Tables 1.0.0 Released!
Region Tables (free) evolved into Advanced Shipper (not free), the mutha of all shipping modules. It will do all you need.
