Re: Image Handler 2 Support
If I've done something that makes my small image zooms quit working, shouldn't re-installing Image Handler fix the problem? I overwrote all of Image Handler's files, but I'm still getting no zoom action on my images.
I'm getting the following two error messages from Firefox:
hidetrail is not defined
onmouseover(mouseover clientX=0, clientY=0)index.php (line 1)
showtrail is not defined
onmouseover(mouseover clientX=0, clientY=0)index.php (line 1)
Advice would be appreciated.

A link to your site would help.
But...
You did check to make sure you uploaded "All" the files needed for IH?
What about the jscript_imagehover.jsNeeds to be here, includes/templates/Your_Template/jscript/jscript_imagehover.js

At this site www.aroma-gusto.co.uk the small mousehovers work ok.
It does take a while for the images to load as you have a lot images, video & flash going on.

Position of zoom image (hoover image)
Hmm I must have some configuration problem going on here?
I just installed Image Handler and when hoowering over image the zoomed image is displayed above header?
Should it not come as popup next to the thumpnail?
Presume it is simple config problem?
Any one can help me?

Re-read the installation instructions and check that you have correctly re-named the folder4 names to reflect your template directory name. It's likely that some of the files have ended up in the wrong place and are therefore not operational.

Thanks for info.
I have been trying to do it as you sayd but not yet any luck.
I keep on trying.
At least I cant find anything to need merging.
also yes I have copied the template_custom folder to my own template.
Just if somebody gets more idea here is my page you can test the popup thing

I keep reinstalling as I have backup of files and database before the mod install.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
marksu.. you do not have all correct stylesheets installed.
i.e.
Code:
includes/templates/nameofyourtemplate/css/style_imagehover.css
is missing
plus
Code:
includes/templates/nameofyourtemplate/jscript/jscript_imagehover.js
is in incorrect folder i.e. classic

I note that the product pages display with one error (using Firefox) for each additional image that should have been displayed. An example follows:
Error: missing ) after argument list
Source File: http://ed.homelinux.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=129
Line: 264, Column: 159
Source Code:

If it helps, the Firefox error console has a green arrow running underneath each error, which ends up pointing to the letter "i" of images following the showtrail command.
Having tried every other solution under the sun (and now moon) to solve this problem, I can only assume that this missing bracket might be the cause.
Do any wiser owls have any suggestions please?

Edwin,
Not sure if you got any reply yet (this thread seems to grow incred. fast!) - just cruisin your code I see a duplicate fwd slash from your images dir.

Thanks kuroi and misty.
It was installation problem, one file was missing.
You sure know where to look, lucky me.
Thanks for giving me the advice.
Here is examples on mod files for image handler and it paths
includes\templates\classic\css\style_imagehover.css
includes\templates\template_custom\css\style_imagehover.css -> was missing
includes\templates\template_default\css\style_imagehover.css
includes/templates/template_default/jscript/jscript_imagehover.js
Seems like jscript_imagehover.js was in right folder or at leas in folder as setup in Image Handler module.
File was missing cause Dreamveawer synchronize action did not find that missing file for some reason.
It works now

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi,
I installed this module recently. It works well but I would like to make some changes:
1. The zooming seems to work for images in sideboxes but not for images on product listing page and product info page. Why is that?
2. How do I zoom in bigger? At the moment the zoom is only slightly larger than the original.
3. Also, how to we insert multiple images for one product?
Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hello,
Would anyone happen know what tables are modified (and how) when you install IH2? I've looked for this info and have not been successful in finding it.
I will skip the very long explanation of the troubleshooting steps i have already taken to resolve my problem, but i'm leading to believe that this is where my issue is.
Thanks!!

In order for the zoom to work properly, your Small Image Dimensions must match the Dimensions of the listing images ... you'll find these settings under Configuration :: Images of your Zen Cart Administration area.

The size of the hover image is dependent on the dimensions of your Product Info Image dimensions found under Configuration :: Images of your ZC Admin area.

Make sure you've installed IH 2 by going to Tools :: Image Handler 2 and clicking install under the Admin tab. Then, make sure you have IH set to handle your images, this can be found under Configuration :: Images.

No tables are modified which is why you can install and un-install without disrupting the architecture of Zen. What problem are you having?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I have been unable to get IH2 to process both medium size and popup images. At one time, everything worked. Switching templates did not fix the problem (to see if my problem was in a file i had edited), uninstalled IH2 from the database and re-installed.... i've done a slew of troubleshooting steps.
So being fed up with not knowing why IH2 is not behaving properly, i did a fresh install of zen cart 1.3.7, went through the steps to install it into the file system, removed IH2 from the database via the admin area from the live store, then exported the database from phpmyadmin, replaced the generated DB with mine, logged in to admin, and re-installed IH2 into the DB via the admin tool.... I wound up with the same exact problem... So i was curious exactly what gets changed in the database so that i can compare the structure (when IH2 is "not installed") to that of an untouched copy generated by the installer.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi I just installed Zen-cart. Here's what I have installation info:
Zen Cart - v1.3.7.1-full-patched-07052007
Image Handler 2 for v1.3.x
I made changes to the bmz_image_handler.class.php as explained on page 100 of this post to get the additional images to display.
The problem I am having:
In Firefox and Safari, the product page view works fine but when I try viewing it in IE 7.0.5730.11, I get an error:
"Line: 99, Char: 11, Error: Invalid Character, etc"
Here's the link:
http://www.shopalponte.com/store/ind...&products_id=3
You'll see the error message when you try loading it in IE7.
Anyone else encountered this type of error before?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Nevermind, I just disabled the "What's New" side box and the error disappeared.

What do you mean by process popup images? Not working at all?
On your medium images your getting no image at all?

Maybe you didn't upload all the files.
Have you checked?
bmz_images_handler.php is the defines file.
Code:
/admin/includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/bmz_image_handler.php
Line 43 handles the heading title.
Code:
define('IH_HEADING_TITLE', 'Image Handler<sup>2</sup>');

A link would help for sure ...
Here's some things to look for to see if IH is working ... keep in mind that IH won't resize the images if it doesn't need to.
Right click your images and look at the properties ... if the image is being pulled from the bmz_cache folder IH is working properly.
If your referring to the medium image zoom, the full functionality of that was never finished by the developer and therefore won't zoom your medium images.
Small Images are used for areas such as your sideboxes, Medium Images are your Product Info Images, and the large images are what you get when clicking for larger images. Listing Images can be set independently, but keep in mind that if you want the Small Image Zoom to function your Listing Image Dimensions must match your Small Image Dimensions under Configuration :: Images. Also, the size of the image you get on mouseover is dependent upon the size of your Product Info Image (Medium Image).
The best and easiest way to work with Image Handler is to let it do the work for you. In otherwords, upload your highest quality image when adding or editing a product and IH will generate the images for use in your cart (small and medium). Now of course, if you want different images for your small and medium images you'll need to utilize the IH manager so you can distinguish unique images for a specific product.
If your looking for some other image effects look into the HoverBox mod in my signature. It's compatible with IH2. Just make sure that IH is installed and working properly first.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi;
I have just installed IH and need to know into what folder I should upload all the images. I created just one product, included the larges picture to be upload into image/large. When I check IH for this product I see all 3 sizes there, but when I view the web site, I only see the picture when I list All Products. When I select that one product that I have, there is no image and when I click on "Large Image" pop-up is also empty.
Thanks

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hello there...I can't seem to figure out which file to directly edit to achieve what I am trying to accomplish and what lines of the file need to be edited.
Basically what I am wanting to to achieve is make the image the right size so that when zoomed into the image does not go off the screen.
If any one can help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

There's no need to have to manually upload images for processing ... simply upload your highest or largest quality image when adding or editing a product. If you have a specific need such as unique images for each the small, medium, and large images the process is a bit different.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
If you go to say
clevershoppers (dot) com/collectibles-343/ashton-drake-galleries-362/
You'll notice when you go over the red zoom button the image is so zoomed in that it is being cut off at the top or at the side or at the bottom...and I'm wanting to make the image smaller so it doesn't do that.

Where did you read this?
This is not in the manual for Image handler as with IH you "only" need to upload 1 image (the largest size you want to use). IH will take care of the rest of the sizes needed.
Do you Image Handler installed?

You seem to be making it more complicated than it actually is ... When you add a product and it asks for the product image, simply upload your large image here and Image Handler will resize that image according to the settings you have under Configuration :: Images. There is no need to upload three different images unless you need the images to be unique. EXAMPLE - your small image needs a border around it, or you want to show 4 bottles of something in your product listing image, and one big bottle for your product info image.

The size of the hover is dependent upon the dimensions of:
- Product Info - Image Width
- Product Info - Image Height
You can find these under Configuration ::Images as well.

Have you made sure you upload "all" the IH files and are not corrupt?
You are missing a stylesheet.
Right now IH is not working on your site, so have you installed it from the admin?
Admin-->Tools-->Image Handler-->Admin
If installed then click the link to uninstall.
(Note: You are not deleting any files by doing this)
After the page refreshes, you can click the link to install.

I would just uninstall from the admin after clearing the image cache.
Then upload fresh files then from the admin again install.

I agree with tophand... upload the files again and make sure that you overwrite everything. BTW: tophand knows what he's doing... he has helped me a lot. Thanks tophand!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I could use some help. Been working on this mod for a couple of days and tried most of the comments in this thread. I have 2 issues. The hover won't show up on the "small" images on the product page and the white background border won't go away (I've cleared IE cache and revised the background color in the admin).
If I check the properties of the images they are not in the bmz_cache.

Not to repeat myself, but... I had many of the same problems and the way I fixed it was to uninstsall IH2 then reinstall from the zip file making sure to overwrite all files. Once I did that everything worked.
Hope this helps...

Thx Crabdance, I have performed this function once and will do it again, just to make sure I didnt miss anything.

You're welcome... hope everything works out ok!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I deleted all files and uploaded the mod as described in the instructions. All functions except the hover and hotspot seem to work ok. Is there anything else I can try or can someone check my site and maybe see the problem?
Thx Sweet

Hi,
One thing that I did that was different than the instructions was to put the javascript and css files in "my_template_dir/" (js files in the jscript folder and css files in the css folders).
You might see if that makes a difference.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Thx for hanging in there with me crabdance. I saw that too when I loaded the files and place a copy of the script in both places. Unfortunately that didnt work either.
Maybe some background will help. I loaded one set of large files (510 x 439) and let the mod take care of the sizing for the smaller images. The Small Image is set to 127 x 110 and the Product Info image set to 255 x 220.

Loading one file size is all that you need because IH2 will take care of the sizes. I know that when I change the size of my small images to be larger than 100x80 then the zooming properties go away and so does the little "plus" sign in the corner. Try making your small images 100 x 80 and see if the hover comes back on your small images.
Let me know what happened
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
ok, reset my Small Image and the Image - Product Listing to 100/80, cleared the IE cache and the IH2 cache, checked the website and confirmed the images resized to 100/80. Unfortunately no joy . I also turned on the hotspot and that doesn't show up either. Did the same thing in FF and still no luck.

How are you naming your image files?
It looks like you are adding "_LRG" to the file name.
Looking at your product list and product display pages I get the same image file name.
(basket01_LRG.jpg)
If you are doing this, you are turning off IH for that image.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi,
Someone's posted this problem already, but couldn't find a fix for it...
When I turn watermarks on for all images (small, medium and large), only the small watermarks work.
Someone recommended changing the large and medium files to a GIF file instead, but this didn't work either.
Any ideas please?
Cheers!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
PS - As a note, when I go to admin/image_handler.php?page=preview no images are showing up. When I view the image properties, they show as shop/shop/admin/images/ih-test.png instead of shop/admin/images/ih-test.png

Hi OJM,
I had the same problem about the dup directories. I had to re-install to get things to work right.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but this didnt solve the problem. I also found out another problem. One of the products has more than 3 pictures. It has pictures that are from other products.

Thios means that you have not named your additional images correctly and Zen Cart is confused as to which products they belong to. There's a FAQ entry which explains in detail how this works.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi Kuroi,
Thanks for pointing that out. This could be the problem. But how did it happen as did not insert multiple images for this product. This product is supposed to have only tee.jpg as its only product image. However, in the IH2 manager, this product has the following images associated.
tee-back-view.jpg
tee-basic.jpg
tee-bynight2.jpg
tee.jpg
tee-chicago3.jpg
I thought additional images will only be inserted to a product when we name the filenames the following way using underscore. Does hyphen work as well? If it does, I might have to manually dissociate the irrelevant images.
tee.jpg (original)
tee_01.jpg
tee_02.jpg
tee_whatever.jpg

No and no. Additional images are any that share the same beginning as the base product name (i.e. less the extension) for a product. So in the case of a product with the image tee.jpg, absolutely any image that starts "tee" will be treated as an additional image for that product.
Hyphens, underscores and so on are just for good naming practise as they help to identify to you which images you intended as additional images.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi Kuroi,
I think the main problem is the product has a very short original image filename (tee.jpg). I am worried that IH2 might mess up quite a lot of my other product images. I will have to check but so far I found only one. I name a lot of my product images according to brands or styles. So if I have 3 different types of CK T shirts. All of the images will start with ck-tee-, for example:
For 1st product titled as CK Tee V Neck, I have these pictures.
ck-tee-v-neck.jpg (original)
ck-tee-v-neck-2.jpg (uploaded and displayed in description)
ck-tee-v-neck-3.jpg (uploaded and displayed in description)
So according to your explanation, the uploaded ck-tee-v-neck-2.jpg and ck-tee-v-neck-3.jpg will become additional images of the original ck-tee-v-neck.jpg. But I checked some products, this does not seem true.
For some products, say 2nd product titled as CK Tee Long Sleeve, I have these pictures.
ck-tee-long-sleeve-3.jpg (original)
ck-tee-long-sleeve-2.jpg (uploaded and displayed in description)
ck-tee-long-sleeve.jpg (uploaded and displayed in description)
Will the uploaded ck-tee-long-sleeve-2.jpg and ck-tee-long-sleeve.jpg become additional images of ck-tee-long-sleeve-3.jpg?

This is nothing to do with Image Handler. It's how the underlying Zen Cart code recognises an additional image.

Provided you have entered ck-tee-v-neck.jpg as the image for the product, and have not changed the additional_images module in Zen Cart, this is how it works, except that it doesn't link the images together. What happens is that when the product info page is called, the additional images module then trawls your images folder for any images that start in the same way as the product image and calls the additional images template to display them. Do you have actual examples where this doesn't appear to be working?

I'm not sure what yuou mean by uploaded and displayed in description. Do you mean that you have embedded them in the product description? In any case, if ck-tee-long-sleeve-3.jpg has been entered as the product's image then ck-tee-long-sleeve-2.jpg and ck-tee-long-sleeve.jpg will be ignored as additional images as their base names ck-tee-long-sleeve-2 and ck-tee-long-sleeve and not extensions of ck-tee-long-sleeve-3.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi Kuroi,
Thanks for your explanation. I am starting to getting a better understanding on how additional image module on ZenCart works and the problem I am having is not due to IH2.

ck-tee-v-neck.jpg is the image for the product. I have not changed the additional_image module. When I said the additional image module did not work, I mean I didn't see additional images in the product info page. Could this be because I put the pictures in /images/ck folder instead of in /image folder? A good example can be seen here:

Right now IH is not working on your site, so have you installed it from the admin?

If installed then click the link to uninstall.
(Note: You are not deleting any files by doing this)
After the page refreshes, you can click the link to install.

Thank your for your answer...
I deinstalled ih2 and uploaded all files again (after I have downloaded them again).
Than I installed it via admin as you described and uploads new images via admin/imagehandler2 .... but no better quali. I have imagemagick installed on our server and wrote $ihConf['im_convert'] = '/usr/bin/convert'; into the bmz_image_handler_conf.php....

Re: No Image Handler information found error
I had this same problem as these two other users, just wanted to post the fix I found (simple) in case it helps anyone else. My IH2 simply stopped working one day, and I got this same message "No Image Handler information found."
After backing up everything, I tried the easiest thing first - in the IH manager screen, there is a link that says "Install Image Handler." I tried that (even though it WAS previously installed) and voila - back to working as normal. Thank goodness.
Hope this many help anyone else with same problem.
Best,
patrick

Everything was working great - but now my IH2 manager has stopped working - from admin/tools/image handler I get "No Image Handler information found." - if I go into IH Manager to pull up a product, the category shows but then if I use the dropdown it bounces back to IH admin screen.
The only file used by IH that was changed recently was the html_output.php - I added rollover button affects. The site works fine - both IH and rollover buttons but IH2 Admin is not working....
(this is killing me I've got about 50 products with multiple images I need to get loaded)
advice? ideas?
edit: well, at least I can now use the traditional zencart approach of using FTP to add LRG and additional images - whic IH does optimize - this did not work when I initially installed the contribution... I still recommend IH to people but it is quirky....
I have this EXACT same issue, any fix for this yet?

Your large images are not being processed by IH.
Have you from IH admin, uninstall IH and after the page refreshes install IH?

Actually, they have to be processed by IH since I don't have multiple sizes/images. I have a single image of each item. They're being resized and displayed, but the large images aren't watermarked any longer. The watermark_LRG.png and watermark_MED.png are in the correct folders. The medium size works fine. I'll try uninstalling/installing and see if that helps.

Looking at Imagemagick website it seems the path is
/usr/local/bin/convert
Did you test this using the command line?

When I check the path of your large images it showed /images/ and not /bmz_cache/. Your small and med images showed the correct path.

Thanks for your help, tophand. I removed and reinstalled IH2, but that didn't seem to help (even after I remembered to redo the settings in the admin ). I ended up uploading includes/modules/pages/popup_image/header_php.php and includes/modules/pages/popup_image_additional/header_php.php from the IH2 download (overwriting the files from 1.3.8) and it's behaving normally now.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Today IH started being quirky after many months of perfection. The only thing I did last night was delete a category and today my other large pics did not have watermark.
I found that solution in the IH admin. It had (somehow) reset its self to not show watermark. I set it to yes and now watermark shows.
HOWEVER-I set up a new category and input 4 new products. The IH works on hover just fine, but when I click on enlarge image, I just get the background and no enlarged pic.
All other categories are displaying large pics just fine. Only this new category seems to have issues.
the category with the pop up of the large pic is:
http://www.shabbychiccottage.com/ind...ath=96_152_153
Any help is greatly appreciated.
many thanks,
Shirley

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
update:
I have discovered that the product category I made today does not have the purple icon of IH between the C and A. So that category is not working with IH2 at all.
Why? I don't know. I have turned off that new category so the link in post above will not work.
I am going to create a new category and see if IH is applied. If not, then I have to assume that since all other categories have IH working fine, that some file got corrupted in IH. It's puzzling why all other categories work, but the new category doesn't. I guess I will uninstall and reinstall IH2 and see what happens.

Uninstalling "Will Not" delete any files.
Admin-->Tools-->Image Handler2--> Admin
Click on link to Clear Image Cache, then..
Click on the link to remove Image Handler from the database.
The page will reload and click on the link to Install Image handler.
I found other product images behaving the same way.
Also see your using jpegs and gifs for images, what is your setting for this under "Images"?

That did it. All fixed now. TADA

We were posting at the same time.....
I have not cleared bz cache because I use some of those pics on another site. I was concerned if I cleared cache it would remove those bz cache pics.
I have images set to no_change.......that way I can use both jpg and gif
thanks for responding!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Well, I spoke too soon.
It still doesn't work in the switchplate category.
Last night I had 75 products in that category. I decided to delete them all and delete the category to redesign.
So this morning, I created a new category with a similiar name and entered 4 products. Thats when the popup for the larger image didn't work.
ALL other categories continue to work perfectly (IH). Just not the switchplate category.
I'm thinking when I deleted those 75 products the database got messed up somehow. I have no clue how to view that or fix it.
I'll post back if I find out anything.........
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Followup:
After uninstalling and installing multiple times, re-uploading ALL the IH2 files to my server I finally discovered that it all came back to the quirk from this morning.
I had noticed that the new pics did not have the watermark so I went to admin>config>images and saw that SOMEHOW the watermark was set to no. I did not set it to no, it has always been set to yes. I have always used watermark.
What the problem boils down to is:
If I set watermark to yes, pop up large does not work on NEWLY entered products. It works on images that have been the site before today, but no NEW images uploaded.
If I enter a new product and leave the watermark set to no, then the popup on NEW images will enlarge.
If I enter a new product and set the watermark to yes, then the popup to enlarge on NEW images will not load.
I guess I won't be using watermark. I have no clue what the problem is.
I have already re-uploaded all the files in the mod. If there was a problem with a corrupted file that should have fixed it.
If anyone has an idea whats up with the watermark, I'd love to hear it.
Thanks much!
Shirley

How are your linking the images for use on another website?
The images in the bmz_cache folder are created on the fly by IH and they have really long files names (1as2qw123ed456tg567hj34bn.image.101x95.jpg).
On the watermark, have you replace the watermark file in case it is corrupt?
M
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I used to link my pics to another site by getting the bz_cache file name from properties on the large image. The reason I used the bz file was because it was watermarked and that was handy. Yes, the file names are long but worked fine.
But, IH on my site was in an accident and although I got it out of the hospital, it is not working properly. It no longer makes the bz cache file on the fly. It no longer works with watermark. All pics now are reading directly from the images file. bz cache is dead. About all it does is the hover and making the sm, med and large pics.
I can only assume when I deleted 75 products and several categories, something went haywire.
When I have time, I will see what I can do to remove it completely and get it going right again.
And yes, I did re-upload the watermark file. No go.
