Yes, it is still the recommended plugin for tracking. I have tested the others out there and all have issues with tracking due to various reasons. In addition, they lack the added features that Google provides.Quote:

I am using Simple Google Analytics 1.2.6 with ZC V1.5.0 and the standard "green" template. It works great thanks.
Contrary to the principle "if it ain't broke don't fix it"! I ran the Google Tag checker and that came up with some suggestions which I show below (I searched this thread but found nothing on this topic).
As I said it works fine but should I worry about these?;
Suggestion: Deprecated method used: '_initData' more info
Suggestion: Deprecated method used: '_trackPageLoadTime' more info
Suggestion: Consider update to the async version
