I believe it stands for Value Added Tax....in the UK.

Yep.. VAT is a term that is used in the European Union (which includes the UK). Other countries also use a VAT for goods and services (such as Canada) though it may be called by other names in other countries the concept is still the same..

Howdy all. I'm running 1.3.7 w/ fixes and just updated Feeder to 1.7.3 I have not uploaded a feed in a while, so I went and uploaded a feed last night. I got errors on all of my feeds so I update to the latest Google Feeder Version. Now my feeds don't run, no errors just nothing.
I get this:
Google Base Feeder v%s started 2010/02/01 22:32:12
Feed file - (Path Blanked Out)/feed/domain_products_.xml
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - No
It appears that I may not have it enabled? Maybe not sure. Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Tom
Ok, found out what I did wrong. The new file - googlefroogle.php was not uploaded to the root dir for my update.
Hope this may help someone else.
Thats true of us in the UK. On our site we show the price including and excluding VAT, but on the google feed we HAVE to show the price including VAT.
Changing it in admin would just cause more hassle than its worth. I'd be happier to submit the feed manually and make all the changes myself.
I was just hoping that someone knew a way that the automatic feed would add on the VAT for me!
It causes errors for our products that are on special offer too. eg. product #544 costs £200, special offer £100 (+VAT = 117.50) Google feed would show this product to cost £200, even though on offer it costs £117.50 including VAT. The feed just reads the products price column, and not the specials price or the taxable goods columns.
The feed is taken automatically from YOUR site from the information that is within YOUR site. So, the VAT would need to be added prior to the automatic feed. VAT is NOT added by Google after you create the feed. So, it's best to have the VAT installed through admin.
Adding it manually afterward may not work because you will not be able to set your cron tabs and Google may kick it back.
Hope that helps.

I am still getting some characters (such as single quotes) to encode incorrectly, even after trying to cleanse the data in the backend.
I assume this was a previous bug that was already fixed. Can someone point me in the right direction of where this encoding is being done?
This causes Google to detect invalid characters, so it won't upload the data.
Thanks.
Hi, don't get discouraged because every time you upload (and if I am correct you uploaded a couple of times) Google with take the current feed. Again, you need to be patient because several or thousands of feeds are submitted daily. If you did NOT get an email from Google stating there was a problem and IF you merchant account shows searchable soon...then you are on the right path.
Ah...just for the record, it did not go smoothly for me..it took a couple of emails stating what I was doing wrong. Then it was fixed and then there was a problem and finally.....it worked...so work with it.
Hope that helps...
