Here is a fun scenario that makes no sense ...
Below are all of the details of how to reproduce this (I do not believe anything is missing) ...

It is not calculating the rewards correctly when Redeeming (spending) Rewards are done at the same time Buying New Products to earn more rewards.

So is anyone having this issue of trying to use Earned Rewards and Purchase New Order where New Reward Points should be earned at the same time and getting incorrect results, or ... does anyone see where there is some forgotten or missing setting that is resulting in this error?
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
I'm trying to setup a points ONLY store (no cash, credit card, etc). The user would earn points from an external system, that would then be added to the Zencart points store programatically.
The user would go shopping in the Zencart store and can ONLY use points to purchase items. Purchasing items should not earn the user any points (as they are earned via an external system).
Can I setup/tweak this component to make it work like this?
Also, after installing the component I do not see the following:
Admin->Catalog->Reward Points
Admin->Configuration->Reward Points
Admin->Customer->Group Reward Redeem
Admin->Customer->Reward Points
What did I do wrong?
Thanks for your help!

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Ajeh, mine is calculating correctly.
The only differences I have are:
$1 spent = 1 point earned
1 point redeemed = $0.05 off
New points are correctly calculated from the subtotal (after redeemed points are subtracted and before tax and shipping is added).
One thing i noticed when I installed, for some reason I had to overwrite the admin files in Filezilla after my initial tests weren't working. After the overwrite it worked fine. Never happened before on other mods, but still likely my error :)

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
I've looked all over, search and can not find anything related to instructions for making the correct settings to start earning points. I've got it all installed, it shows the points sidebar, I can add points manually but can't seem to get the points to show up when purchasing as a customer.
I do have authorize. net setup up in test mode but even doing it as money order doesn't trigger the rewards. Wondering if I missed a file.
When viewing the orders, my options are pending, processing, delivered and update.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Do you have ot_reward_points and ot_reward_points_display both installed under \Modules\Order Total ?
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Yup.. All the files are there.
It's wierd.. Everything else works, menus, display on the site. It's just is not adding any points when items are purchased.
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Turns out I had not set the payment module to be active.
Don't recall reading to that anywhere but eventually found a post with that mentioned.
Works great now!
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Hi I have just installed this plugin and it seems to work fine untill I did a test run and when made a purchased with the reward points the remaining balance never changed even though I had redeemed most of the earned points
any ideas ?
thanks in advance

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
anyone had this problem??
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
The Rewards Module is awesome, thanks so much!!! One question -- is there a way to track how much money was actually redeemed using the Rewards Points (per date) or for a given date range? For example.. I have no idea how much money my customers have actually subtracted from their order or how many points they have actually redeemed. The admin tool shows Pending and Earned but not "Spent" or "Cashed in" etc. Many thanks!!!

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
I am wondering where I can find a generic rules and conditions for a reward program, or if anyone knows of a generator or template that I can use to create the rules.
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Hi echonovember,
I have my own rules page. Click Reward Points to have a look and see if you can find useful contents there. I hope that this is what you meant and did not misunderstood your post.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
i installed this mod, i did upload the file ot_reward_points.php to /includes/modules/order_total/,
but after installed, when i go to admin>modules>total order, i only find ot_reward_points_discount and ot_reward_points_display,
the ot_reward_points is not there, it dissapears
what did i miss?

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
another issue
in admin>customers>orders, it shows "Reward Points earned: $0.00",
i check the sql table zen_orders_total, for the order, text is 35, value is 0.0000
what do i show "Reward Points earned: 35" in the admin order page?
what do i fix it?
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
i have a quesion
in the sql table zen_orders_total, for class = ot_reward_points_display, all the value are 0.0000, is it correct?
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
i'm using zen cart 1.50 + reward point full suite 2.1b
on admin order page, i need ot_reward_points_display to show "text", while it shows 'value' of zen_orders_total table
now, reward points earned: $0.00
it should been shown , reward points earned: 35

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
i guess it is a bug of reward point full suite 2.1b on zen cart 1.50 ?
i tried rp 1.33a on zen cart 1.39h, no problem
i tried rp 2.1b on zen cart 1.50 for several sites, all these sites get the issue below
go to the page Admin >Customers > Orders, at the bottom, you see "reward points earned: $0.00",
i checked the sql table, in the table zen_orders_total, the record of "text" is 35, of "value" is 0.0000,
so it means this mod shows the "value" of zen_orders_total, but all value of the table are 0.0000
it should have shown the "text", such as 35, on admin orders page, it should been "reward points earned: 35"
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
I am trying to understand an issue ... and not sure if I caused it or if there is a reason it works this way ...
I have 900 earned points for $9.00 ...
I go to order a Product that should give me:
110 points ($1.10) new points
I try to redeem:
200 points ($2.00)
Why does this change on my order the points I am about to earn from:
110 to 90
and then take the:
200 points ($2.00) from my earned points?
On the checkout_confirmation, should it be changing the points I am about to earn because I am redeeming points? If so, why?
If not, then I have done something to break this all on my own self ... :lookaroun

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
v1.5 version: http://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=704
Feature Question: the rewards program allows the automatic expiration of PENDING points by setting a future expiration in days:
admin > config > rewards points config > Delete Old Reward Transactions Period = 30 days (for example below)
For example, a customer buys product, receives 1000 points that are PENDING until the order has shipped, triggering the 1000 points to move from PENDING to EARNED. If the order does not ship in 30 days, the PENDING points expire. No problem, tested and works fine.
What I want to do is expire EARNED points in 30 days. For example, a customer buys product, receives 1000 points that are PENDING. The the order is shipped, triggering the 1000 points to move from PENDING to EARNED. If the customer does not use/redeem the EARNED 1000 points in 30 days, the EARNED points automatically expire. A "Use 'em or Loose'em" scenario.
Does this feature exist in the Mod? If not, any pointers on how to create this function ... Help greatly appreciated!
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
is anyone would like to answer me a question?
i want to know, after your customer place an order, in your zen_orders_total table where class = "ot_reward_points_display", the record of the column "value" is 0.0000 or an value else? cause all records of this column of mine are 0.0000, i'm not sure if this is normal

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
A fellow forum member (echonovember) asked in post #2113 how to create a "rules" page for the Reward Points module. I gave the link to my Customer Reward Program page, where the visitor can find questions and answers on how the program operates.
If one likes the page and wants to create something similar, can do so using some javascript and CSS. I attach a .zip archive with the necessary files including a .txt file with some instructions. It's (fairly) easy to do. Incidentally, I'm using the same technique for my "Terms & conditions", "Payment methods", "Privacy policy" and other pages.
These are obviously my own "rules" and you don't necessarily have to adopt them, therefore change to your own rules where necessary. In any case, please avoid copying/pasting and phrase your replies a bit differently.
Please note that I am not neither the developer of this add on, nor a programmer. As such, I will not be able to reply to technical questions. I believe that the attached files and instructions are simple for someone who has a basic knowledge (like me) but don't try if you are not self confident. In any case, try everything on a test environment first and BACKUP before doing any amendments.

You are getting that error because you didn't upload the definition file or you didn't upload it to the right directory. It goes in includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/custom/reward_points.php. If the file didn't upload it will cause that

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
I've upgraded/re-built my store this week to zencart 1.5.1 and re-installed all the latest modules from scratch. I have an issue with Reward Points whereby the points are showing correctly during the checkout process, but when it comes to completing the order and the order is finished, the reward points do not get stored on the customer account. If I look at the Admin section then the order itself doesn't even have the Reward Points stored on it anymore, nor has their pending or earner points been updated.
If anyone can suggest where I need to start looking then it would be appreciated please. I'm at a loss!
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Did you find an answer to this? I have the same problem... The reward points are not being stored on the completed orders.
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
I stand slightly corrected... The reward points are being calculated and are being recorded against the customer's account. They are just not being shown in the EDIT ORDER screen within ADMIN. I think this was reported a few posts ago in this thread also. Any ideas?

CountryCharm is right.. the only reason you see that text is due to a missing language file.. So let me ask this.. includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/custom/reward_points.php. Is the folder the rest of your template files sit in called "custom"? If not then this is the issue.. You need to re-name "custom" to match your template's folder name..

It means that there is an issue with the language file.. whether that mean it's missing or corrupted.. the cause is a language file..

I don't think you will get an answer to your question because I asked the same question perhaps a month or two ago, I think the module is not setup for that so I got one of my family members write me a code which I run daily, it's not the perfect way but itworks, you could set it up as a cron job if you like to run it daily, here is the code below:
<?php
try {
$dbh = new PDO("mysql:host=localhost;dbname=DATABASE_NAME", 'DATABASE_NAME_Points', '1qwer13');
$Totalquery = "Update reward_customer_points
SET reward_points = 0.00
Where customers_id not in (select customers_id from reward_status_track)";
$Totalstmt = $dbh->prepare($Totalquery);
$Totalstmt ->execute();
echo 'Total Task Completed';
}
catch(PDOException $e)
{
echo $e->getMessage();
}
?>
Basically when you set up your reward points module pending points to expire in 30 days, the reward_status_track table keeps only 30 days of records so what the code does if it's not in the track table then it sets the points to Zero.
You have to run this daily though, if not then the deleted records will be lost and won't be able to zero the reward points that are older than 30 days.
I am sure some people here could make it much better and full proof and run it as a cron job.
I am not an expert in code writing but was able to figure things out to solve my problem.
Hope this helps,

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Firstly, sorry if this has been covered in this thread already, I did search but couldn't find what I was looking for.
What I'm trying to achieve is this:
1. Have a category of products that you can purchase and receive reward points for (as normal) but can't be purchased with reward points.
2. Have a second category of products that you can only buy with reward points.
So far I haven't been able to find an obvious way to stop certain products from being purchased with reward points (that would be a start).
Any advice on how I might achieve this, pointers on where I should be hooking into the API etc?
Cheers.

I would also like to know this..
Like I want customers to get points from everything they buy, but customers can only use their points on a certain category of product. A category that is specifically for using points. Maybe for in-stock items I am trying to get rid of to make room for new stock.

Alternatively, I am going to assume it cannot handle something like

The Point Ratio or point earn for each product is controlled from The Global Reward Point Redeem setting is found under Customers->Group Reward Redeem.
Quick run through on how it works.
The Point Ratio is the number of reward points you award per unit of base price.
So a Point Ratio of 1 will award 10 reward points for every $10, €10, £10 etc spent.
The currency used is decided by how the prices are stored for the products.
The Global Point Ratio is used for every product, unless overwritten by a Category Point Ratio (if set).
The Category Point Ratio is overwritten by a Product Point Ratio (if set).
If you install the Reward Points Order Total Module you can also set a Redeem Ratio. This is set to 0.01
as default so each point redeemed is worth 1 cent/pence.

Hi Guys,
Can you please tell me what is the best way to assign a "0.200" Redeem ratio to all my existing customers..When i go create a ratio inside "Group Reward Points Redeem" It only lets me add 1 customer at a time..which is not very practical. What is the way everyone else is doing it?

What triggers sunrise check & what triggers change of pending point's date
I have been using this mod for almost a year, so far so good, except a glitch I have noticed:
btw: I am still on 1.3.9h and reward point v1.40a (downloaded at omnicia.com)
I use sunrise period (eg 30 days) to make all pending points to earned.
Problem is, sometimes (not all the time), in customer > Reward Points , occasionally when I check WHY some customers still have pending points even their orders were much older than the sunrise period - I am seeing orders that made 2 months ago, its reward points are still pending.
Then I checked their "Pending Reward Points" table, the date is no longer the order's date. I am not sure what trigger to change that date, but, it seems, that pending points is stuck there because the date was somehow changed and that date is now within the sunrise period.
My question:
1. what to trigger the sunrise check? is it when admin login at backend? or when customer login at frontend? or when any page at the store is loaded?
2. what trigger the change of the date in "Pending Reward Points" table of each customer?
Thanks.

Re: What triggers sunrise check & what triggers change of pending point's date
Hello everyone, just wondering if anyone else had this problem with installing the Rewards Programme?
When it was installed, after logging in as a user, all of the product pages disappeared, and we could not retrieve the home page. after logging out, it all came back to normal.
Any suggestions?
thanks

I already anwered this in the PM you sent me.
All I can say is you didn't install the module right. Go back and check to make sure the admin and the custom folder names are change to the folder name you are using. If you install the module right there shouldn't be any errors.

Re: What triggers sunrise check & what triggers change of pending point's date
Hello,
I have installed the rewards module and enabled it on the layout boxes controller. It is showing on my page fine and I have tested it through the checkout.
However, for some reason I cant seem to access this from my admin side:
6.) You can edit Global/Category/Product reward points using Admin->Catalog->Reward Points
7.) You can change the Reward Point configurations using Admin->Configuration->Reward Points
8.) You can set global and group Reward Point redeem ratios using Admin->Customer->Group Reward Redeem
9.) You can set and change earned and pending points for each customer using Admin->Customer->Reward Points
. Why can I not see these menus or edit the points ratios? Did I miss a file somewhere in the installation?
Thanks
-
Re: What triggers sunrise check & what triggers change of pending point's date
Same problem as Curlydan - I can't seem to access those options, they are missing from the Admin section. I've uploaded the files with proper 'CUSTOM' names for my folders and stuff, but a lot of missing bits - and if I try to install the Discounts module I get nothing - the sidebar that allows you to edit the options doesn't show up.
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Actually, never mind, I've reloaded everything from both the 'upgrade' options and the 'full install' again afterwards and it works now. Think I must have missed a folder or file somewhere, somehow.

Thanks
You have missed a folder or file somewhere. Go back and recheck that all files and folders were uploaded correctly, making sure you have renamed them to your custom folder name.

Ok well I still havent been able to solve my problem. I have uninstalled all files and reinstalled them. I have access to
4.) Switch on the 'Shopping Cart with Rewards' sidebox using Admin->Tools->Layout Box Controller
4.1.) There is also a "Reward Points" sidebox which displays points in cart and points earned (if logged in)
5.) Install the Reward Point Order Total module using Admin->Modules->Order Total
5.1.) There is also a "Reward Points earned" module which displays the points earned at checkout
However, I still dont have access to any new categories from the admin drop down menus. Such as:
6.) You can edit Global/Category/Product reward points using Admin->Catalog->Reward Points
7.) You can change the Reward Point configurations using Admin->Configuration->Reward Points
8.) You can set global and group Reward Point redeem ratios using Admin->Customer->Group Reward Redeem
9.) You can set and change earned and pending points for each customer using Admin->Customer->Reward Points
Perhaps it is because I skipped this step? What does this step do/ how can I do this step?
3.2) If you use table prefixes in ZenCart you will need to manually rename 2 Reward Point Mod tables:
3.2.1.1 Rename 'yourprefix_reward_product_points' to 'yourprefix_reward_master'
3.2.1.2) Rename 'yourprefix_reward_point_history' to 'yourprefix_reward_status_track'

Sounds like you didn't Install the new.sql statement in your admin/tools/SQL Patches. You need to open the new.sql statement up in note pad and copy the contents and place it in Admin - Tools - Install SQL Patches
If you have already done that you need to run the uninstall.sql statement and then re-run the new.sql statement again.

Re: What triggers sunrise check & what triggers change of pending point's date
@Curlydan - I found some files in the 'upgrade' section that didn't seem to be in the full installation section, try uploading the upgrade as well as making sure you have uploaded all the folders in 'full installation', including 'includes'. The bit you're asking about refers to the database you use. If you have specified during the creation of your zen cart shop that your database has prefixes for the tables eg 'curlydan' so that instead of 'customer_addresses" your DB has the table 'curlydan_customer_addresses', then you have to deal with that. Sounds like you didn't use prefixes, so it won't be that. Try uploading everything like I did, making sure you have changed the names of the 'custom' folders to the name for your template. It will all magically appear. Did for me, anyway.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Suggestion - it would be brilliant if someone could think of a way to make it so that there was a product or two on the site that you could only buy using Reward Points instead of cash. Really give people a thing to build towards other than the slightly impersonal-feeling discounts etc. No idea how that would be done but it would be great if someone knew.
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
I haven't used this mod in a long time, so correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there already a section where you could specify what products / categories to include / exclude?

Design75 is right you can limit to what categories or products you want to use Reward Points on, but you can not use just Reward Points to checkout.
If you just want a Reward Point shopping cart you will need custom coding.
To do this You will need to consider investing in custom coding to get the desired functionality. This is totally doable, but it is not a small piece of work BTW..

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Hi CountryCharm,
I'm using your module, but there is one thing I want to check.
I want to build a point system where every $10 they spend gives them 1 point which equates to $1. They can use there points at anytime.
So I don't see in the admin has option to set $10 for 1 point.
Can you clarify ? many thanks.
Regards.

I just replied to your PM on how to do this.
By the way it's not my module I just updated it to work with the latest Zen Cart.
I guess I should share this this just in case anyone else has the same question.
This is how you would set it up.
Under admin/configuration/Reward Points Configuration set the Reward Point Rounding to 0.5
Under admin/catalog/Reward Points Set Global Reward Point ratio to: 0.1000
Under admin/catalog/Group Reward Redeem Enter global points ratio to: 1.0000
Now for every $10.00 a customer spends he/she will receive a point worth $1.00

Hi,
The global points ratio must set to 0.1, not 1, otherwise, I will get 10 point for $10
Secondly, after set:
Under admin/configuration/Reward Points Configuration set the Reward Point Rounding to 0.5
Under admin/catalog/Reward Points Set Global Reward Point ratio to: 0.1000
Under admin/customer/Group Reward Redeem Enter global points ratio to: 0.1000
I get 1 point for $10, but the admin/customer/Reward Points:
I see:
Reward Points Earned: 1
Value of Earned: $0.10
The "Value of Earned" is not right. It should be $1.00, not $0.10. May I know which setting affect the value of earned ?
Thanks.

If you set the Reward Points up like I mention, you will get the results I stated.
When I go to admin/customer/Reward Points: I get what you see in the picture down below.
I'm not sure what you did to get a "Value of Earned"
Reward Points Earned: 1
Value of Earned: $0.10
Attachment 11700
Go back and check the setting to make sure they are set up right.
The setting I have is for every $10.00 a customer spends they receive 1 Reward Point worth $1.00

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Hi CountryCharm,
I'm using zencart 1.3.8a.
When you mentioned:
Under admin/catalog/Group Reward Redeem Enter global points ratio to: 1.0000
is it under:
Under admin/customer/Group Reward Redeem
or admin/catalog/Group Reward Redeem
because I only see Group Reward Redeem under admin/customer/, not admin/catalog
Thanks.
Regards,
Sky

You are correct. Sorry about that Sky.... :)
It should have been admin/customers/Group Reward Redeem Enter global points ratio to: 1.0000
This is how you would set it up.
Under admin/configuration/Reward Points Configuration set the Reward Point Rounding to 0.5

Another thing I would do is upgrade your Zen Cart version 1.3.8a. to the current version of Zen Cart 1.5.1. You are running and out dated version with all kinds of Security vulnerabilities. I can not emphasize enough about the Security vulnerabilities people have by running Zen Cart v1.3.8a.

Hi Countrycharm,
thanks for reply.
I created many screenshots of my current settings. Please take a look, and see if there is anything wrong with configuration, especially in admin/configuration/reward point.
Please download the pdf from here .
I cannot upgrade the zencart version, as I'm just responsible to install this mod for my client. He has many customizations done on this zencart version, so upgrading will be big exercise to perform
Appreciate your kind advise. Many thanks.

Hi Sky,
I'm not trying to be mean about anything and please don't take it the wrong way.
You need to tell your client that he is putting all his customers and there information at risk using a out dated and unsupported Zen Cart version 1.3.8a with known Security vulnerabilities. This will be my last response because this module has been upgraded to work on zen cart version 1.3.9h and 1.5.1. It is not supported or advise to be use on outdated version of zen carts. I hope you understand.
Try setting your admin/configurations/Reward Points like so.
The admin/customers/Group Reward Redeem has to be set to 1.0000 not 0.1000
Attachment 11701

I agree with CountryCharm.. and at the risk of also sounding harsh, your client's "many customizations" is NOT a good reason to NOT upgrade his store from a version with KNOWN vulnerabilities and code that will STOP working should his webhost upgrade to PHP 5.3.x. You should AT LEAST inform him of this issue. If you cannot do the upgrade, then he should be aware of the issue so that he give some thought to seeking a resource who can.
Now before you think we're being overly hysterical about this let me give you insight into one of the many possible vulnerabilities with the 1.3.8 codebase. One which affected two client's of mine who decided to WAIT to upgrade versus upgrading when I informed them of the risks of continuing on with 1.3.8. There is a hack in which the store's PayPal settings can be HIJACKED allowing the hacker to modify the PayPal payment module to direct funds from your client's sales into the hacker's PayPal account.. On the surface this particular hack gives no appearance that anything is wrong.. Sales will continue unil your client see sales in their store and no corresponding PayPal payment.. It could take days before they notice this.. and here's the kicker.. Your client will have NO RECOURSE with PayPal to get the funds returned to them.. They then will have the unenviable task of either honoring the sales and taking a loss or telling their clients that their store was hacked and to inform the clients that they have to fight with PayPal to get their money back (which of course will RUIN their reputation)..
Now in the case of my two clients, they were BOTH lucky.. One luckily caught the hack as soon as the PayPal change was made BEFORE any sales were processed. The other didn't catch it until three sales had gone through. She decided to eat the loss and fulfill the orders.. She worked with PayPals fraud unit, but has no prayer of ever seeing her money returned.
The moral of the story: Do your due diligence, and inform your client of the vulnerable state their store is in.. If they want to then risk not upgrading to avoid paying for an upgrade, then that is on them. If the issue is that you feel that the upgrade task may be over your head, then that is a different matter altogether, and one that that you need to be honest with your client about so they can make proper decisions for their business..

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Hi,
I'm using Zen Cart 1.5.1. My Reward Points system seems to work OK so thank you to an author of this great free module.
I was checking my logs directory and came across this error:
Quote:

Can anyone point in the right direction. I'm not sure where to start:no:

The install.txt tell you how to do this. It even tells you where to go.
8.) You can set global and group Reward Point redeem ratios using Admin->Customer->Group Reward Redeem
The Global Reward Point Redeem setting is found under Customers->Group Reward Redeem

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Hi,
I'm using this module, however a concern has raised where we cannot have points awarded to customer, if he purchases something that using existing points.
Can you share your thought, if this make sense, and if there is a way to do that ?

What I meant is that as long as customer use his existing points to purchase (Partially redeem or fully redeem), and then the purchase should not be awarded points.
I don't see such configuration available.
thoughts ?

Is this what you are trying to say. If a customer already has point in there account, they need to use there points up before they are able to obtain more Reward Points correct. If you want a customer to use all there Reward Points up when they checkout you can set that setting in your admin/Modules/Order Total/ Reward Points and set that to Automatic so the system will make them use all those points at one time. That way the system can continue given customer points when they purchase from you.
Now if customer has points and they don't use them for a long time, you can set it up in admin/configurations/ Reward Points: Delete Old Reward Transactions Period... You can set that setting to 30, 60, or 90 days and after that the system will wipe out any Reward Points a customer has.
Delete Old Reward Transactions Period:
Set the age (in days) to keep the reward point transactions. Outstanding reward points pending after this period will be lost. Set to 0 to keep all transactions.
I hope I answered your questions........

Hi,
Thanks for your answer.
What I want to achieve is that we want customer to use the points at their own will. However, we just don't want them to get more points when they use their points on a purchase. Is this make sense ?

That's the same thing as penalizing a customer for buying a product from you. This module does not do what you are asking for it to do.
Your customers have the option to use there points when they want to. You can either reward points or pay someone to modify the module for you.....Sorry

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Hey everybody I just installed the reward point suite and everything went fairly smooth but the additions to the customers and catalog menus are not showing up. I searched the thread and couldn't find a solution. I double checked the php files and uninstalled and reinstalled the SQL file so I'm stuck! I'm using zencart 1.3.9e and php 5.3. Points display in the side box and the shopping cart. Thanks in advance!

What version of Reward Points are you using?
Make sure you have renamed the admin folder to your custom admin folder name. Same with the templates/custom folder name.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Thanks countrycharm for your reply! I'm using the latest version of reward points from zencart website Posted 4/24/12. I double checked and the admin folder is the root directory of the shop which I believe is renamed 'shop' in our case and followed the file structures manually. What particular files determine the appearance of those options? Maybe it would help me narrow my issue. Thanks!

Hi CountryCharm,
I need the the point system to do the following:
- 1 point is earned for every 10 dollars spent
- Each point equals .50
- When points are used customer pays the regular price of an item and not a discounted price.
What configuration settings should it be ?
Thanks.

Your shop has a admin folder that is named admin or named to a custom name that you changed it to. You need to put the contents of the Reward Points admin files inside your custom admin folder before the menu items will show. If you have uploaded them correctly make sure the file sizes are correct. Partial uploads will corrupt the data.

For every $10.00 spent your customer gets 1 Reward Point.
Go to Admin/Catalog/Reward Points Set Global Reward Point ratio To: 0.1000
Each point equals .50 Go to Admin/Customers/Group Reward Points Redeem.
Enter global points ratio To: 0.5000
Go to Modules/Order Total/Reward Points module and install that module
if you already installed set to Point Redeem Method: Automatic
Also switch on the Reward Points Earned module so it will Calculate, display and store Reward Points earned on order.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
I've got a weird one, earned points are getting lost!
When an order is placed, the points are correctly shown in pending, as soon as the order is moved status, the points are lost from pending and not moved to earned.
ot_reward_points.php has been modified, does this file manage earning points beyond the checkout stage.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Think it might have something to do with two sites using bits of the same database...
They are both sharing the reward points module, both sites can earn and spend points, I don't think it likes it.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Reward Point Status Track - Simple
That works fine across both sites
on Advanced, I get the problem.

Thanks countrycharm I found my error and have corrected it and things are working properly. Thanks for helping me think through what I was doing!

Since you are using 2 sites and one database it is very possible that is your problem. If it works on Simple leave it on that setting, but I feel like you will run into problems by running 2 sites with 1 database with Reward Points. Not much more I can tell you since I don't run 2 sites off 1 database.
