OK, how or what did you install that made it ask to set those fields?
Are you saying that when you installed the Numinix Product Fields addon and it automatically asked in googlebase if you wanted to ativate that option?

Or....maybe I have an older version of the googlebase feed module and I need to update it to ask for those items?
And I guess my next question would then be...If I update my googlebase module, is there any modifications that have been done that I will need to be concerned of?
I guess other than the zencart updates, I havent updated any of the modules I currently use. Is this an easy process to update?
OK....i just looked and Im using version 1.7.1a? theres like 5 updates since I installed this. When I update would i then do all of them or just the most recent?

I have googlebase 1.8.2 installed along with the mod, numinix product fields.
The 'upc/isbn' and 'Numinix Product Fields' configuration options are a part of the googlebase 1.8.2 installation.
The settings are found in
configuration > googlebase feed configuration
If one is going to use upc or isnb numbers in their feed then both these fields need to be set to true. In addition these two fields rely on 'numinix product fields' mod to work.
thanks, I was wondering about that. Currently Im waiting to hear from my distributers to get that information. As they have around 10k products and they never used that data, so their trying to update their own info.
but as far as updating....which .sql file/files would I use then to update my installation?
Thats not clearly notated in the install information.
Secondly, would updating my datafeed/install require anything other than what they listed which was just overwriting all files? I obviously assume I would need to redo my feed and reprocess it with google. But is there anything else need done to make it all work? Its all working fine now other than missing those fields, and Im really not looking to break anything, LOL
well as far as touching any modifications: the googlebase mod file names all begin with google so the mod files shouldn't touch any modifications of the cart itself.
Of course look at all the file names and use your own judgement.
Regarding the sql updates. If ever there is an uninstall sql, that is what I always go with. I uninstall and then install the newest sql.
The googlebase mod versions on my pc all have an uninstall file so check the files for the version you are using to see if you have an uninstall.sql.
And again use your own best judgement and always make a backup of your database and your store before you do anything.
Has anyone else got an email from Goggle about the changes made to include the shipping charges?
"An alternate way to submit shipping information is to include item-level values for the new shipping attribute in your data feed.
These values will override any account-level default values that you have set for that item.
More information on formatting the revised SHIPPING attribute, please visit http://www.google.com/support/merchants/bin/answer.py?answer=160085&hl=en_GB#shipping"
no i havent, but it seems google doesnt always send out everything to everyone. Ive seen ppl say they get all kinds of things and i have never seen them.
As far as shipping charges, that would be a hard item to include for most companies. Myself, I only use UPS and only offer ground, but for a company that offers multiple forms of shipping and different options I dont see how they could do any form of default values for shipping.
I guess that is until Google has ppl create user profiles with "their" favorite form of shipping. lol
I just had the following email from Froogle:
Hello,
Thank you for participating in Google Product Search. We are reaching out to you to inform you of updates to the Tax & Shipping settings tab located under "Settings" in your Google Merchant Center account. On this tab you will be able to set shipping values for your items on Google Product Search. We will soon be displaying this information on Google Product Search to provide buyers with important price information. This email provides an overview of the submission process in order to help you provide this data.

HOW TO SET SHIPPING VALUES IN YOUR GOOGLE MERCHANT CENTER ACCOUNT
You have two options to set SHIPPING for your products:
1. Specify a flat shipping rate (or free shipping).
2. Define custom tables if the shipping rate you charge varies by price, weight, or number of items. Note: If you define a table based on the number of items, for now, we will use the rate in the first row only.
If you use the weight-based table option, please be sure to include the SHIPPING_WEIGHT attribute. More information on formatting the SHIPPING_WEIGHT attribute can be found here: http://www.google.com/support/mercha...pping%20weight

HOW TO SET SHIPPING VALUES VIA DATA FEEDS OR GOOGLE BASE API
An alternate way to submit shipping information is to include item-level values for the new shipping attribute in your data feed.
These values will override any account-level default values that you have set for that item.

Does this mean there needs to be some coding changed in the core files of this mod in order to output shipping tables to the xml data feed?
hmm, well luckily for myself we only use one option. I set the default shipping method to that and have not had to change it.
Have you already set that option in the merchant center to what you already use?
if so, you wouldnt have to worry about code as its already entered on their end. that may be the easiest way to handle the question anyway. Im just not sure what would change if you entered more than one. I know it asks for a default, it will probably just display that no matter what you enter there...
