Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

I've been following this and I am not sure what the original issue was or what your fix is supposed to do.. I can say this owever.. It appears that your fix overrides the IH2 hover settings. Which brings to mind the question of why use IH2's hover feature at all if you are going to hard code in your own image path and hover settings.. (or perhaps I'm misunderstanding all of this..)

Sorry. Trying not to talk down to this technically savvy crowd. Doctored code above simply is used to position your image on the page. It is an image tag with the necessary java script embedded within.

Just put that line where you want your pic. Make sure your path to the image is correct in both places. Fix the number string to match the dimensions of your pic. Two places for the original size, one for the "zoomed" size. And you're good to go.

Hope that walked the fine line between treating you like an idiot and assuming you know more than you do! Hard to do sometime.

Thanks again for your tremendous efforts on my behalf. I couldn't begin to do this without benefiting from the knowledge and mistakes of others.

He was trying to get the lightbox effect to work on images in his ez pages.

Forgot to say: Because this function, per the readme, should work out of the box, niestudio was researching the issue. He discovered some missing code from V1.6x and is in the process of getting that taken care of.

Bigdiogi's fix is a work around for the meantime.

Hope niestudio does not take my posts as critical of his/her terrific add on. Works fabulous site wide - except on the ez pages. And really only needed it on 15 or 20 images on one page. Obviously I'm a little confused about which functions are served by zen lightbox and which by IH. And what the mod is designed to do and not do. Just loved the effortless "zoom in" effect on the images and wanted the same functionality on my ez pages.

Overjoyed to only need my little workaround on a few images and tickled pink by how effortlessly this works everywhere else.

ok but I am still confused for the hover effect you added is not on the expages---like the custom page...but it is on the page that holds all the images of that category---like the medium boxes. they were all listed with no hover then when you did your coding they went to having a hover.

I will keep the "fix" for ez pages hover and the LB code for them too---just in case...but that that is why I was confused as to what file you added it to. I did not realize that was an ez-page...lol

remember that even though the techs know what to do where that if you do post info as a "fix" or "workaround" there are a lot of us that are beginners and need all the info and it saves the tech more time to help with other stuff, unless the method does not work for the next party looking...imho

Which module provides which feature is IMHO clearly laid out in each modules (ZLB and IH2) respective readme file, but since we've already gone down this path let's make sure it's clear for those following this thread..

The "on hover" functionality (what you have referred to as the "zoom in effect") you added to your EZ Pages is NOT a feature of Zen Lightbox. Nor is the "on hover" functionality a "primary" feature of IH2. By this I mean that as clearly outlined in the IH2 readme file, IH2's primary purpose is to manage and optimize the PRODUCT and CATEGORY images ONLY (it does NOT work on other site images). IH2's TRUE value is in the image management /optimization of product and category images that it provides. It's "on hover" feature is a "bonus" feature, and has IMHO LONG been a source of confusion about the TRUE purpose/value of IH2 for shopowners.

Zen Lightbox as it's readme clearly indicates adds a lightbox effect to not only product image images, but other images on your Zen Cart site as well. A lightbox effect is different from the "on hover" effect as follows:

I search for a minimum of an hour through the forums before I post to try to prevent asking the same questions over and over. I skim the FAQs. I search the web. Some folks like me may have been a tad confused and weren't getting a full grasp of what the issue was or if there really was an issue with either of these mods (ZLB or IH2).. Your initial posts gave the impression that one or more of these modules was not functioning as they are intended to function. As I'm sure you know, the purpose of this support thread is to help folks when there are issues with the ZLB module.

I wanted to make sure it was clear for anyone else following either one of these support threads (ZLB or IH2) or using either one of these mods that the issue you found wasn't truly an issue in the traditional sense. ZLB or IH2 ARE indeed functioning as they should. They just do not provide a particular bit of functionality you were looking for..

I think where the confusion is coming in for many is that bigdiogi wanted the lightbox feature on his ez pages, which you can do with ZLB.

BUT, he wanted this effect on hover, because he thought that was how ZLB worked...

I think he didn't realize that IH2 affects images on hover, whereas ZLB affects images on click....yet both don't necessarily affect the same images....ez pages images being a prime example.

Even with all the wonderful documentation out there, a novice might become easily confused about clicks and hovers and "who does what to whom", so to speak.

And I totally agree that as cool as the on hover is with IH2 (I so love that feataure!), it's greatest value lies with image management (fewer images to upload, no hassling with image file suffixes, faster loading times, less cost re: bandwidth usage, etc)

Both of these mods are awesome, and especially so once one figures out how they are different yet complimentary... because from there, one can easily get to a place where they are using both to their fullest advantage :clap:

Exactly! I simply wanted to make sure it was clear for anyone following this thread that neither of these mods wasn't necessarily broken (broken = not working as they are intended to work). Because initially when I was following this recent line of conversation that was what I was thinking was being communicated.. (Based on posted responses, I don't think I was alone in this thinking)

Because I am working on compiling a new version of IH2 (with better documentation to cover Fual Lightbox and Zen Lightbox integration) I simply wanted to make sure that if there was an issue with IH2/ZLB integration that they are addressed in the new release. I have been testing the new release with the current version of ZLB, and I am happy to report that they both play together nicely, and there will be instructions included in the readme for those using both IH2 and ZLB together how to make sure the integration steps are clear. I will be coordinating with niestudio so he can include the same info in the ZLB readme as well.

Additionally based on this recent line of conversation I will be updating the section of the IH2 instructions - specifically the section of the IH2 readme which covers how small images settings must be setup in order for the image hover to work correctly - to include very explicit information on the image hover feature so it's clear which images it actually affects.

Yep! At first I thought he was talking about the on click feature of ZLB on EZ Pages. It took a few posts beyond the initial issue for me to figure out exactly what he was wanting to do.

Don't worry bigdiogi, that's to be expected when you're new to ZC, aren't familiar with all the mods and the terminology, etc. Sometime you should hunt up my posts re: the override system when I was new and trying to learn it. LOL I was chasing myself in circles over a concept that now seems so second nature to me.

I installed Zen Lightbox, and after some time installed Image Handler, all seems to work fine except one thing:
while the main image larger view opens zen-lightbox, the additional images open the large images into the browser window.

which add-on did you install first?
the file [includes/modules/your-template/additional_images.php] from the zen-lightbox add-on should be the one you are using. It should overwrite the one from IH2 if you are using that one.

first thing is---if the lightbox works then you need to ask this question at the IH2 thread.

second thing is...are you using the additional images file from lightbox or ih2---since you installe ih2 last I bet you are using that one...replace it with the one you got in the lightbox zip and try again

Short answer is this, ZLB does not add on hover effects to images it is a lightbox module which adds a lightbox effect to images.. Please read the posts I suggested to get a full understanding on ZLB vs IH2..

There is NO ISSUE with IH2 being reported here.. there isn't even an issue with ZLB..

There IS a misunderstanding of which effect comes from which module. This was JUST discussed here this past week (posts are on this page and the one prior).

and download the file - MooTools Core 1.3 with compatibility

Go to this post

unzip the the slimbox.zip file and upload the slimbox.php file to \includes\classes\zen_lightbox\, replacing the existing one.

Open the MooTools Core 1.3 file in a text editor. Highlight and copy the code, then paste the code into the two files (removing the code that's in them)

/includes/templates/Your_Template/jscript/
zen_lightbox_mootools_custom.js
zen_lightbox_mootools_default.js

You should Install the other way around as image handler and Lightbox share one file in common.

However just re-upload Lightboxes version of that file and you should be fine

Yes I have dug through all 253 pages. So please bear with me.

I'm an osC user and am getting used to the better features of zc.

Here is my questions. I have installed the latest version of IH2 and Lightbox for 1.3.9h. Both installed no problem. IH2 was installed first and then lightbox.

Here is the issue.

i.e.

/images/manufacturer/ [manufacturers image goes here, irrelevant but oh well]

/images/companyname/IMAGE.jpg and IMAGE_01.jpg has been uploaded here.

Both images are 640x480.

IMAGE.jpg is a test color black and is the main image.
IMAGE_01.jpg is a test color red and is the second additional image.

When I go to the product page the main image by the product description is not there. Nothing is there. but the second additional image is there. I can hover over it and a 640x480 image of it pops up. I click on it and the light box version 640x480 pops up.

What happened to my main image IMAGE.jpg?

I cannot figure it out.

I'm trying to get by without upload a MEDIUM AND SMALL image. I just want to use ONE image size and have the software resize it under the settings I have in the admin section.

first make sure every file got uploaded and in the proper spot for IH2 AND then post in here IF you are having trouble with lightbox too

is lightbox working?

as for IH2 I myself only upload 1 size image for main and additional ones but have the settings correct---what you need to do is post a link to your store--especially the naughty page and post your settings of how you have your images to show.

then all can better assist you.

If IH2 is the only one that is not working properly I suggest you go to the IH2 thread and post there--also to get better help.

I've seen this questions asked but not answered.....here I go:

I have a js file to disable the right click function, displaying a copyright warning.

Where would I edit the zen lightbox files to get that js function to work on the lightbox image?

I know, I know....anyone really wanting it can get it...but it helps makes our case when images are blatantly taken.

Then let me add this.. Watermarks are MUCH more effective way to protect your images and provide REAL protection.. Right click scripts only deflect and deter only those who are not particularly web/computer savvy.. Non web/computer savvy folks are UNLIKELY perpetrators of image theft.

You need "GD libraries or ImageMagick" If your host doesn't have either on installed (hard to believe that a contemporary host would NOT have one or the other of these tools installed) ask them about getting it installed for you..

spent the afternoon researching this and I would feel better if I could just make the js right click disable work for the lightbox image. THe copyright pop up message is the goal here.

In our industry I think most competitors try to respect our work...the problem is they assume that we got our images from the supplier and so they are fair game. To our astonishment we found one image in particular......a very hard one to shoot....was taken by the manufacturer of the parts and being distributed to our competitors without them realizing it was ours.

not ready to pay an image tracking service yet.

So, how would I implement my js file to affect the lightbox image?

I do have photoshop cs and will just work on learning how to watermark the images. I should have been doing this all along but we do it all, photography and formatting. 800 product images... 1 down 799 to go ...shouldn't be too hard eh?

still want to know how to get my js file to work....thanks for any help...and yes, i do see that there are batch options on ps...will learn over the weekend...

sometimes the longest way is fine but in this case---since you did not provide a link to your site so the creator could look and maybe give you the solution....the best and simplest way for you to get the watermarks is to install ih2---I do not have image magic either and it works.

Yep.. because without a link, it is a GUESS on the creators part on how to add the code you are seeking (since you already have it on your current site, it would help him answer your question to take a gander at what you've got going on already).. Unless athena is instead asking niestudio to come up with a custom solution.. Then.. well.. it's a matter of if niestudio is so inclined.. has the time.. etc...

Lightbox was working for me up until a short while ago. Now when I click on a product's image, I just get this:

thanks, you guys...i have the solution and am not asking for any special programming...just how to get a javascript file, which normally automatically loads on every page in zencart, to load on the lightbox presentation page. You know, like the css file does. So I'll look for how the css links to the lightbox event and try that.

well...it's no wonder you guys were puzzled...although I still want to know how to get a js file to load here....

I found that I had not uploaded the lightbox file in the main store directory...just the images and includes folders....somehow overlooked the main php file; it worked without it but now when I right click it is a different menu, less blatantly "please steal this image" in both ie and firefox.

I'll try installing ih2 and see what happens.

FYI you can post your link without it becoming "clickable" pretty easily just by adding spaces to the appropriate places.. People do it all the time here..

The reason folks ask for the site link is that for nearly all modules, it is DIFFICULT and near impossible to help with troubleshooting issues without a link to the site.. This way the people you are asking for help can see what you see.. It's a much more efficient way to help..

For me, given that I work in software dev, I've learned over the years that a written description of the problem is not always in and of itself enough to KNOW and SEE what is happening.. I have to see what you see so that I can get right to the issue versus guessing at what it MIGHT be.. So I personally won't even try an lob guesses at a problem I can't "see" (others may feel differently)..

I'm waiting to see a link before I chime in on where the 'fix' might be able to be placed. Half of the time even a link isn't enough, so its almost impossible without.

Hi Athena,
first of all, you should note that on a mac your current right click blocker is not working at all in chrome or safari. Even on the regular images that show before ZLB comes into play. So I would suggest you look for a more current solution since this is so important to you.
Even on a PC you can just drag them to the desktop without using a right click menu.

Now for ZLB, do you plan to use additional images on your site, or just the one main image?
If you DO NOT plan to use additional images I have a simple hack you can make to the slimbox code that will prevent the right click menu that does pop up from showing a save image as option.

If you DO plan to use additional images, you might have to look for a pretty customized solution. I have done some google searches for adding this functionality to slimbox and most seem to say its not possible. Here on the zen cart forum the people on the faul slimbox thread have been talking about this option since 2008 and they get the same response: just use watermarks because you can really block them anyway.

let me know if you want to try the hack and i'll tell you what to modify.

someone asked about my layout...i used the css for lightbox to call an image instead of the black and i disabled the pop up as we deal in small parts and it gets a little overwhelming to see a lot going on on the page.

well athema, I just went to your page. the lightbox shows up with a lightgreen background so you have adjusted the color, the watermark from the IH2 mod is showing and when I rightclik the image it does sport the wording that Images are copyrighted do not copy...but

when I click the X to close the little window it brings up the rightclick menu...not much in fending off the thiefs...

same goes for the larger image in the product page and afterwards in the lightboxed image.

that never stopped anyone from taking what they want to take but with the watermark it is helping since they download a copy and the image is plastered there as well...

I would just get rid of the little box that says to not steal the images...since it gives them the menu anyway

then just post to the store that images are copyrighted to please not help themselves.

maybe even changing the water mark to have your store name or logo would make it even more "territorial" for lack of a better word---it escapes me old brain at the moment..

and yes on my mac it did nothing at all but let me grab the image.

OK, note that this is a hack and it could cause problems elsewhere that I am not aware of so PLEASE note these changes so you can easily put it back to its proper working order if/when needed.

First, you'll need to open [includes/classes/zen_lightbox/slimbox.php] in a text editor.
scroll down towards the bottom and look for this BURIED in the code

Second on your FTP server navigate to [images/zen_lightbox] and rename the files nextlabel.gif & prevlabel.gif you can just add a dash or something to the end of the name prevlabel-.gif
Third navigate to [includes/templates/your-template/images] and repeat the same process of renaming the images.

what this is doing.
the lightboxes have built in functionality that will overlay a transparent div over the images when it needs to navigate to the previous and next images. by default they are hidden with that function: hide() but we are telling those 2 divs to NOT be hidden. So now when you right click on it you're really right clicking on a transparent div and not the actual image thats underneath it.
The file renaming is needed as to not confuse your visitor into thinking there should be more images when there are not.

I've upgraded to Firefox 4.0 and it's caused quite a few problems, but mainly, Zen Lightbox doesn't show any longer... try enlarging a product image on any of the sites in my signautre, using Firefox 4.0 and you'll see what I mean. Is there a solution to this do you know?

No, it's definitely a Firefox 4.0 issue. The lightbox works perfectly well in ie on the same PC you see. Then, on my desktop PC with Firefox 4.0...... I get the exact same issue.

Can you try my sites in your browser, to see if it opens the larger images?

Visiting your sites in IE8, I don't see the images opening in a lightbox either. They seem to be opening as a new page which only displays a large size of the product image, requiring a click on the back arrow to get back to the product description.

In FF4.0, superfancy.co.uk behaves the same way.

Did you modify/customize the ZLB code? Or have you just removed it at this point?

It has the same problem in chrome.
It looks like you are using a modified version of ZLB 1.5
please try updating your plugin to ZLB 1.6 and these issues should be fixed. You may need to make some custom mods to it if you want it to look exactly like yours did before with the special loading graphic and info pane. Most likely the css and the images associated. (hopefully you still have your orig template files)

I forgot I took it off superfancy a long time ago. Main problem is with LL and SB

Hmmmm, it definitely works fine in ie8, but not in FF4. Definitley must be something to do with CSS as it works in FF3.6 but looking at FF4 in Firebug, there's definitely something really weird happening.

No, its not the css that throwing it off, its the mootools thats used in ZLB 1.5. Your site has the same problem in chrome, its just that FF4 how now caught up to chrome, so now same issue that people have been having with chrome for months is spreading.
ZLB 1.6 uses jQuery instead of mootools.

Can you post a link to the download location of 1.6 please? I've tried hunting for it before in the free software area above, but have always had trouble finding the correct one. That's the reason I took ot off Superfancy, it was a failed upgrade that was driving me nuts :)

Thank you...this is an exciting theory but the divs are don't seem to be preventing right clicking on the actual item image in Firefox. did i do it right? changed the image names with a dash and deleted the I,d, at

It is helpful but along with coding the copyright into the images as suggested above, and putting a copyright on all pages, I just want that message popping up...any combination of things to help remind the thief that it matters.

The site owner really does not want a watermark...sigh :( ...but thinks the lightbox is cool....I'll work on him...

Again, I think in our industry it is not about laziness as it is about the difficulty in creating images from a parts compilation ..especially when the parts shop web developer does not have access to the parts. they rely on the manufacturer to supply images and they do a good job of that for the most part...that is where our images come into play. they know we stock and shoot all our site images...every time there is a turn over in the staff there, our images start showing up on competitors sites. this little message, "please do not copy" along with other measures, like a copyright on each page...really have helped, going on ten years selling online now.

We've only seen this breach occur on a handful out of 800+ images on our competitors sights and the root of the problem has been this very situation as described...so something has been working where that "please do not copy" note is concerned or we'd see our images everywhere.

I have found discussions about this error but still am unable to find the solution. I installed lightbox yesterday using the current link. I am on step 5 in the readme file. This is the error I am getting:

Hi Page,
I havent personally dealt with the prefix issue, but I just tested it and was able to reproduce your results. According to this post on the thread: Your database has a prefix before the names of the tables. you need to find out what the table prefix is:

if you open [includes/configure.php] and look for the line

you'll want to take that part in red and then update your install.sql file as shown in the link. (all the places in red).

Are you saying that I need to change the prefix in every one of these files in the table from zc to selectge_znc1? For example, start with znc_address_book and change it to selectge_znc1_address_book. Is this correct? Thank you.

No, the only change you make is inside install.sql.
Did you find out what your prefix is as I described?

Had you tried to modify this install.sql file already? Why does it say hipdockc_znc1.configuration_group now?

Hi Joe, try setting the rel="Mini Tail" to rel="lightbox" and see if that helps you.

I made no changes at all to the install file. I viewed it and did a search for zc1. I thought I was supposed to change it to my prefix of zc. I read the entire page and didn't find "zc." I searched for "configuration." I didn't find hipdockc_znc1.configuration_group. Maybe I am looking at the wrong file altogether.
I unzipped the file and opened the folder.
I viewed the "install SQL 8KB" file.
Right now it is showing date last modified as 01/23/2011. I just downloaded lightbox a few days ago.
I am unsure of my next step but I think I need to open this file again and search for hipdockc_znc1.configuration_group. I think I need to change hipdockc_znc1.configuration_group to
Hipdockc_znc_.configuration_group because that is my prefix in the admin files.
1. Do I change hipdockc_znc1.configuration_group to
Hipdockc_znc_.configuration_group?
2. There is a SQL install update file that I haven't touched. Are changes needed there?

Fix for Potential Problem
--------------------------------------------------
If you are already using/loading jQuery then you might have problems with your other jQuery scripts. I know this because it happened to me.


Although this module has a nice touch in that it only loads jQuery when Zen Lightbox is to be used, that can create a "double loading of jQuery" and your other jQuery scripts may not work.

To solve that problem, edit this file:

includes/classes/zen_lightbox/slimbox.php

echo '<script type="text/javascript" src="' . $template->get_template_dir('.js', DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base, 'jscript') . '/jquery-1.4.4.min.js"></script>';

change to:
//echo '<script type="text/javascript" src="' . $template->get_template_dir('.js', DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base, 'jscript') . '/jquery-1.4.4.min.js"></script>';

That prevents Zen Lightbox from loading jQuery again and all scripts will now work together nicely. :smile:

I have it on my to-do list for the next version to add a check to see if jQuery is already loaded (from another plugin) and if so, then not to load the one for ZLB. That should resolve this issue too.

hello, on product info page,
there's one product main image, several product additional images and several page links which use rel="lightbox", when i click on one link, i can click them one by one with the button next,
its nice for the main image, additional images and one page link, but i don't want the other page links display in the same lightbox with them, i want the others display seperately, click one link to open the lightbox (no next button), close it, then click another link to open the lightbox

what do i modify the codes to make it done? thanks

I can be dense at times so please explain this comment of your further. the way LB works on my shop is the product main image clicked on will get you the LB effect with the next/previous buttons for the additional pages.

this way you see the main one with the additional all at the same time. then the next product page is the same with its own LB effect.

now does yours do this too---yes???--then I misunderstood what you are asking and I am sorry

do you mean that you want lb in main one only then to have the nex/previous buttons NOT show so they can then go to the bottom of the page to see the additional images also each individually? as a customer that is one more step that may deter me from purchasing when I can see them all at once...just my thoughts only.

still not the right thing you ask...again sorry

as for links I had no idea a link could come up as a LB effect.

and if you have done it yet a url to your store would be nice.

A Link is always helpful for us to see exactly what you mean, but I [i]think[/] you just want to disable gallery mode in admin>config>Zen lightbox

Not sure exactly how you plan to go about your checking but here is something to consider.

jQuery must load before any scripts to be used with it. As Linux will list alphabetically and thus, Zen Cart will load alphabetically, I've had to use a naming schema like: jscript_1jquery.js in order to have a correct a load sequence.
