Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
blazed8 Without writing some bespoke software, EP can update stock levels and enable and disable products in the basic setup already (this does exclude Stock by Attributes works via a different database table/s).
In the last but one column in the complete file you will see v_status:
1 = Enabled
0 = Disabled
9 = Delete from database
Under v_products_quantity this the current stock available.
So using a table in OO or Excel you should be able to use your spread sheets !!

Yes, this technique is possible... but you have to move with a bit of care...
I have found that v_status=9 tends to remove the product data (desired behaviour) AND its image (undesired behaviour if your intention is to re-upload modified data)
Bear in mind that the auto-increment feature in the product ID will put in a new ID when the dbase is re-populated with the refreshed data.
This is not an easy one... v_status=9 should ONLY be used when a product is well-and-truly discontinued. It shouldn't really be used to "temporarily" remove data about a product that is then "refreshed" with a clean EP import.
I used to work with a dropshipper who (fortunately) understood the needs of their agents and they produced FOUR separate datafiles daily:
1. DISCONTINUED PRODUCTS (To which we just said v_status=9)
2. OUT OF STOCK PRODUCTS (To which we just said v_status=0)
3. BACK IN STOCK PRODUCTS (To which we ran a v_status=1 and it would re-activate all relevant v_status=0 products)
4. NEW PRODUCTS (Which were added in a normal EP upload with v_status=1)
Put pressure on your supplier to do the same... They MUST have a stock management system, and are therefore able to generate these 4 files with relative ease.

schoolboy, what will happen if I use v_status=9 and upload
products that are then "refreshed" with a clean EP import?

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hello All,
Here I am once again trying to figure out EP at its best. But I am determined to complete this task till the end. Todays issue is Categories.
I have installed EP 1.2.5.4, on my ZC 1.3.8.
I used the sample files under Tools>Easy Pop to create my spreadsheet in excel and save as a txt delimited file to upload into the db.
The problem that im having now is when I look at the website, there are no updates made...but when i look in Admin>Catalog>Categories, it shows that there are 35 active products. When I click on the product folder to see what is listed...its blank!
Is there something Im missing? I thought all I would have to do is upload to db, and everything is all set.
Where do i begin to solve this problem?
Also, as for my images....just to be clear can I just upload the full image zip file into the image folder in the root directory?
public html/images
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can you zip up the txt file you were using and link a copy here, that way we can upload it and have a look see in our test carts to see what is happening with it and try and narrow down your problems and provide a solution.
As for images.. if you don't want individual folders for different categories / brands/ suppliers etc, then yes, you can just upload all your images to the image directory, and then in EP, you would just use the actual files name of the image to be used for each product.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
blazed You would get a new product_id number which would then reflect on search engine index's. (ie you ranking in search engine results for that particular product).
As Schoolboy says just use 1 / 0 if you are regularly updating products, only use 9 if you never would have that product in again. By disabling the product this should not effect your shops speed and this product would not show in the cart if disabled.
LovejonesBoutique Did you enter a product manually in ZC first ? as if you uploaded via EP first, your products will not show up. I haven't done this myself but you might try 'Reset ALL Products Master Categories ID' in Store Manger.
From my experience you really want to put your images in separate folders and you can control this easier if you have hundreds of images.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Ok, using version 1.2.5.6 and unfortunately it does not have meta tag support which I need. Then I download the CSV Easy Populate...and it has meta tag support, but doesn't have the sort order support I need. :frusty: I like the interface and the custom forms on 1.2.5.6.....but how can I add the meta tags on that? Thanks.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I've added ALL the product table fields to 1.2.5.4 in the past. There is a post by Lankeeyankee describing the procedure.
Search for add fields to Easy Populate
Note: his procedure applies to 1.2.5.4 .

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
This may have been answered already in this thread, but...
What is the correct syntax for the directory specified in v_products_image? If I want to reference an image that's in /images/uploads/image.jpg, what do I put in this field in the spreadsheet?
Thanks.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi all,
Hopefully someone can help me. I've just installed Easy Populate Advance2.75a-Zen-Cart 1.2, and I'm having an issue when it comes to uploading a csv file: Nothing happens.
It can see the file in the temp directory (which is chmod to 777) in the dropdown, but when I try and upload it, there is no message telling me that there's any success or failure and the products aren't being populated into my DB.
I've tried using the demo data that came with the install, and still the lack of results.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Jshessel If you read the epic of a thread you will see that there are several version's of EP, it has a very battle scared history ( ZC attributes are very clunky and hopefully this will be simplified in future releases with stock by attributes included in ZC 2.0 ) but we have what we have so we have to deal with it as it is !
If you are very good with php then I would have a go with this version you are dealing with but you would need to do some work on it, but if you are not I would stay with Version 1.2.5.4 by 'langer' (no body else's) and this works.
Yes people are using the 1.2.5.7b version but from my experience this had issues (which may now have changed as I have not used it for a while) I think there is now a thread regarding that version, check it out.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4

Where does one find Easy Populate 1.2.5.4? I can't find anywhere to download it from.
Edit: Never Mind! I was able to find the link! Here's hoping this fixes things.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
A few of us, led by the capable jrobeson, are looking at a completely re-vamped Easy Populate...

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I am hoping that someone can help me with this error when trying to upload my products. This has only just happened and nothing has changed in the cart and it has been working fine for over a year
Warning: file(/home/ecomums/public_html/shop/temp/Full-EP2010Mar12-0202.txt) [function.file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/ecomums/public_html/shop/tek/easypopulate.php on line 1209

normally my web host guy looks at all this for me, and this was why I moved over to him for the support but he has just informed me he wont any more.
So any help would be great

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I have the latest Zen cart and EP 1.2.5.4 I have used it before and uploaded data to it and now for some reason all I get is a Upload Results
File uploaded.
Temporary filename: /tmp/phpjduLc5
User filename: Master.txt
Size: 1723550
Upload Complete
It does not add any data to the shop?
Any Ideas at what I missed?

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
gabbytwin I would suggest if your EP has been working fine for that period of time, and you haven't changed anything in ZC something has changed on the server side. May be its time to move hosting...

These are not standard fields in Zencart database Products Table, so there is absolutely no point in including them.
As these fields can only be added by customizing a specific site, its code and database, then applying them to EP is also a matter of unique customization.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
if you download the froogle file in the admin tools easypopulate it will give you the fields :)
its takes a while to get used to but jeez i wouldn't be without it :) dont forget the EOREOR
on the end of each row. that got me!
looks something like this across the top row (pretend this is one line)
v_products_model v_products_name_1 v_products_image v_products_description_1
v_products_price v_specials_price v_specials_date_avail
v_specials_expires_date v_products_weight v_products_quantity v_manufacturers_name v_categories_name_1
v_categories_name_2 v_categories_name_3 v_categories_name_4 v_date_avail v_date_added EOREOR
be careful with your date formats set them to yyyy-mm-dd h:m:s in your cell properties custom
-
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I wondered when i looked at the database what the EOREOR was for but know I know it has something to do with uploading :)
Thanks!

I have a question about product images? Can images be URL's or must it link to a jpg inside your store files?

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi there,
I've installed the most recent version Zen Cart with the EP addon, and successfully downloaded a sample csv to use as a template for the uploads, but I'm wondering if it's possible to assign an id # to specific combined size/colour attributes?
I maintain a small hand-coded e-commerce site for a clothing store (600 products), and our biggest issue with a database driven site is updating the stock levels. We sell from the same inventory in-store, so I need to be able to update the online stock levels with an excell spreadsheet or csv from our in-store database.
It looks like Easy Populate could do this, but our in-store stock database considers a size/colour combo to be a single item - ie: white/medium of a crew-neck t-shirt is assigned an id # with it's own stock level.
Can I use the same id # to link to a size/colour combo of a product in Zen Cart, and update the stock levels with a csv upload? If we sell-out of white/medium of a specific t-shirt in the store, can we then update the stock level on the website so that white/medium of that tee is no longer available to be ordered online?
Is this possible with Zen Cart and Easy Populate?

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hello Guys
This is my first time to install zencart contribution,
I used to be an oscommerce fans for years, but this time, I would like to give zencart a try.
I installed the current version of zencart and applied ep_v1.2.5.4.
I can see there is a link in admin/tools/easy populate, that's so good.
But I can not find Admin -> Configuration -> Easy Populate, there was no Easy Populate under configuration.
Can somebody help point the possible error out?

If you have loaded EP to the correct locations, then when you go to EP under the TOOLS menu for the first time, right at the TOP of the screen is a green alert bar, showing a LINK to install the configuration options. If it is not there, then you have not put the module files into their correct places in ADMIN folder(s).

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I asked this in another thread but i think it would be more appropriate here.
I got this error:
Warning: array_flip() [function.array-flip]: The argument should be an array in /..../admin/easypopulate.php on line 1329
when uploading a csv file.
I used OpenOffice to edit the one i downloaded from the site, and ensured it was a comma as seperator, and the western europe character set (which was the one suggested).
I saved as CSV and got the above error.
I noted that the php version should be 5, so i upgraded on my server to 5 from 4, but still the same.
However, i also had errors when i installed the module; these are listed below. It said install was complete even though these errors appeared.
Quote:
One of these:
Warning: fopen(/usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/*domain*/httpdocs/tempEP/Full-EP2010Mar24-0303.csv): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/*domain*/httpdocs/*admin*/easypopulate.php on line 1222
a long list of this error repeating:
Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/*domain*/httpdocs/*admin*/easypopulate.php on line 210
and a single one of this:
Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/*domain*/httpdocs/*admin*/easypopulate.php on line 1226
Would this have had any relation to my problem, if so how can i resolve it?

Your errors suggest you are using 1.2.5.7 which is discussed elsewhere on the forum. 1.2.5.7 is known to be problematic.

michellewardley By default the answer is no, anything is possible with a bit of coding (probably a lot...) images work from the images folder of ZC not from outside links other than placing an <img> tag in html in your description of the product.
totomony Please use version 1.2.5.4 it just works...
if you want to use 1.2.5.5 then search for a thread on that version if there is not one please start a thread...

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi thanks for the reply - I was actually looking for a store look and thats why it would be great to have such a function.
would there be a way for me to remove the add to cart button and buy now button and then install a sql query to add my affiliate link for each product?
it would be good if it can be done. I can get this done through wordpress however i dont like the overall feel -
thanks

There is a crude hack you could use - but it's clunky.
Set the shop to "Showcase with prices"
When you add a new product, in the PRODUCT DESCRIPTION FIELD, insert a html link operated with an image button, to re-direct the visitor to your affiliate site:
eg:
HTML Code:
To purchase this product, please click the button:<br />
<a href="http://www.your-affiliates-site.com/path/to/product"><img src="images/buy_product.jpg"></a>

hi schoolboy thanks 4 da reply. Plz pardon da spellings-im replying from my phone. Is there a way i could do this by some sort of sql coding? If i will b adding like 500 products then that wud take a long time, i guess it wud b hard as each product would need directing 2 a diff page- i may still give it a shot. Ive been thinking that if i cud do something 2 da data feed b4 uploading it then it may save me much time. Is there any advise u cud give? Also wud u knw if da google froogle mod will work with a showcase store?Thanx

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
abs007 To do what you are asking to do is pretty straight forward but it would need coding but not in sql, sql is really only for inserting information into Mysql not manipulating text. The easiest way would be to use OO or Excel and 'concentrate' fields with your data to create the format you need and then import via EP, or look at the Python language which is very easy to learn which would do this very easily.

Hi scrat
thanks alot for the reply - wow isnt python big - never done programming before and its gonna be a hard learn. Im just not sure where to start. Ive been reading tutorials and its started to give an introduction to small programming strings and is introducing variables - data - objects and all sorts. Its showed me how to use python to calculate mathematical equations which is great and has also introduced me to javascript and VBScript -
This is all great but i feel im going down a route which is not needed. Im not sure where what i am actually looking for to add the links to this .csv file. Is there any sort of buzz words that I should be using in my search to find the actual tutorials which i am looking for
sorry fto be a pain

I got a similar response until I put back-quotes around the table and field names:
UPDATE `products` SET `products_qty_box_status` = '1'

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
abs007 |This is getting a little off topic for this thread but,
basically you will be manipulating text in the description field [ v_products_description_1 ]
Have a look at the python csv module which will do what you are after to write the file, but you need to learn some basic's of Python, basically "string" manipulating http://www.network-theory.co.uk/docs/pytut/Strings.html
Some Video tut.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi scrat , yes your right it is getting off topic - sorry and your help is much appreciated.
Regarding easy populate I have been reading through the posts but am still finding it hard to understand how to load a basic .csv file or tab delimited. I have read the read me file that comes with it.
I have been given a data feed from commission junction but when i try to uplaod it i get an error which read
No model field in record. This line was not imported
Im not sure if i need to create the categories before i upload the feed and maybe this is the reason why its not working. Or do i need to change the headings of the datafeed so that they match the Full-EP2010Mar27-0707.csv file which i some how managed to get after installing easy populate and imported the file from the temp file.
After viewing this file i noticed that it only had headings and not any data. Now im not sure if this is a file which would have had data if i had products in my store. As it stands i am experimenting on a brand new store with no products in it.
Thanks for all your help so far and i will be sure to take my python queries elsewhere.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I uploaded a test file to my store and now I need to remove the test data to upload my real file. How do I go about doing that? Do I just use the EP download feature or is there some other way?

In the SAME test file (txt file) change v_status values to 9, then run that file through EP.
v_status = 9 means "delete the product".

That's a great little tidbit of information. Is there a place where this kind of knowledge about EP is collected and kept? Something a bit more brief than this forum?

Great wiki, schoolboy. Is there some way for a link to this to be inserted at the top of this thread? It might eliminate a lot of questions.

I agree. This is really a good Tutorial on it. It is my fault with some of the items as I don't read it correctly or i miss read it but to all those other Newbies like me... read it fully and most of your EP answers are in there.

ive followed the wiki and have made changes to the data feed in the EP format - however its not working - i keep getting the error
No model field in record. This line was not imported
If someone could have a look at the file i have amended to see what i am doing wrong i will be very grateful.
it can be found at the following address

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
abs007 You have to have this column => v_products_model for EP to work as EP uses this column to update the database, reread the wiki as it does tell the required columns for EP to work.
-
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi scrat, thanks for the reply - I have got the v_products_model in the feed but its not the first tab - I havnt put the feed in any particular order - Will the order need to be in the same way mentioned on the wiki ?
I was under the impression that as long as the fields are present in the data feed then zencart will pick it out - I did read the whole wiki and the areas which are required.
If you have a look at my previous post then there is a link to the feed- The required details are there - I think so anyway thats why i wanted to see if im doing something wrong - Well i clearly am as its not working.
The part on the wiki where it says that you need to have EOREOR at the end of each product so that the system will be able to tell that its the end of the product - Im not sure if ive done it right. I created a new header for it and added it to the end of every product - maybe this could be causing the error too.
Im not sure really but i have got the required details in the field
thanks

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
abs007 It sounds like you are trying to run before you can walk... (meant in the nicest possible way)
The easiest way to get EP to work:
1. Insert a few test products into ZC manually via ZC NOT by EP.
2. Then download a complete file
3. Change some detail in that file
4. Re Upload that to ZC via EP
You should then see the changes have taken place, thus we see that EP is working just fine.... if not then fault find.
If everything is working OK, then remove some of the columns you do not want to upload and test again.
Going from memory there is only two columns you need product_model and EOREOR, I would suggest the columns need to be in the order as original less deleted ones, but never used EP in that way, some one may be able to advise you better.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi Scrat
thanks for the reply - No offence taken - you are clearly right here. I should think more logically like yourself and should have at the least tested the module first.
Anyway I have done what you said and now have uploaded the datafeed using the one i downloaded after creating a few products -
Everything is working fine and i will also be able to add my affiliate link. :-)
One thing that I noticed was that the feed that EP creates for your store does not have the EOREOR at the end of any product.
Im not sure why this is. I downloaded a .csv feed and not a pipe delimited one - maybe this is the reason why. I was also trying to upload a pipe feed. This time however i worked from the feed downloaded by EP just to make sure everything went well.
I must say this is a great module and would like to thank the developer.
I can see how this can be a huge time saver for any store owner.
Thanks

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi ive uploaded a datafeed to my zen store and it looks like it has been uploaded successfully however on the front end i can only see the various manufacturers and no products.
In the admin area when i go to catalogue i can see the new category i have created and it shows as if there are 100 or so active products - when i go to the category then there are no products in there.
I have also gone to the tools>store manager and reseated the values for Reset ALL Products Master Categories ID and
Update ALL Products Price Sorter
however i have had no luck
any idea why this is happening
thanks

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
What VERSION of EP are you running?
1.2.5.4 will not work with csv files, must be tab-delimited text.
Have you read my wiki tutorial?
-
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi schoolboy
thanks for the reply - yes ive read the tutorial and have just found out that im using the easy populate csv 1.2.5.7
Im not sure if this is the reason why. Its certainly accepted the feed - my store shows over 300 products in it and also shows the manufacturers but the products dont actually show

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
hi ive been reading that the 1.2.5.4 is the most stable version. Is it as simple as deleting the files and adding the 1.2.5.4 files
or do i need to go to
http://www.yourstore.com/admin/easyp...?langer=remove
first and then remove files then add the ones for the 1.2.5.4 version
very sorry to be a pain
-
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
all sorted - im now using the 1.2.5.4 version and everything is working fine

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Schoolboy,
Is 1.2.5.4 still the most stable version of EP? I noticed there are several versions now in the downloads area. I am rebuilding my store and had 1.2.5.4 successfully installed and working fine, however, if there's a more stable, up-to-date version I'll use that. If not then 1.2.5.4 I'll stay with.
Thanks!

Stick with 1.2.5.4
The thing one really needs to watch is the dross that MS Excel insists on embedding into a TXTc file. For some reason, Microsoft just cannot bear the idea of absolutely clean text. I often run the TXT file into Emerald Editor and discover unwanted double quotes EVEN AFTER I told Excel not to put quotes around the text.
On more occasions that I care to remember I have had to remove duplicated double quotes.
So the CLEAN-NESS of the txt file is paramount, before you load it up.
But if you pay attention to this sort of detail, the program works very well.
Last week I populated a large store with over 18,000 products - and not a single error! Okay, so we spend quite a while cleaning the file - but that was 6 hours well-spent.
To load 19,000 lines manually @ 2 minutes a line...
... well, you work it out!

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Thank you, Schoolboy. Your points are well taken. 1.2.5.4 it is. I use Open Office instead of Excel. Seems to do a better job in the editing of my list. I do know what you're saying regarding the use of quote marks (I don't use them as inch indicators in my product deminsions). I have to edit my products to say in. instead of the ". Also trademark/copyright special characters don't work, either. As you said being cautious of what the product titles and descripts contain EZ works great. I consistently U/L and D/L lists containing in excess of 2000+ products without a hitch. I'll be adding porobably an additional 1500 products and don't expect any issues.
Thanks again!

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I am using Easy Populate and I want to upload my product that have images hosted at another site. I changed the PHP code to allow it. Now I cannot figure out how to change the size allowed for the image location in the database (I need it to allow 128 characters instead of the default setting). Could someone please help me?
-
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
goldbrick
You need to change in the database field 'products_image' in the products table.
PHP Code:
varchar(64) to varchar(128)
PS No need to Bold and Red Text people are willing to help here... Also moderators frown on double posting...

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hopefully I'm not jumping the gun on this. I usually use Zen-Cart Store Manager to do everything with my store. I like it, its friendly and easy. Recently, I wasn't able to connect any longer and contacted my Hosting company who advised me the server suffered a DDOS. I'm not really sure what that is but I'm told it is pretty severe. I may not have remote access for weeks they say.
SO! I needed an option to update my products and Easy populate is what I came across.
A little intimidating at first BUT it took me all of 2 hours to comprehend 90% of it and I will say I like it MUCH better then ZC Store Manager. It just seems more flexible and faster.
I ended up creating a secondary store kind of a test store to mess around and it really is quite easy. So, just my Thanks :)

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I have a small problem with categories.
Is there any easy way to seperate the categories and subcategories from here (WARNING - ADULT CONTENT), basically the CSV file had just one field for categories and sub-categories with entries such as Relaxation Zone->Personal Hygiene and I didn't realise this until afterwards
This is only a test site so to start over again is no big problem for me, just wondering how best I would go about doing it, there's 3000 products so I don't fancy editing the CSV file to split them up if I can help it

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Actually, just ANALysing the categoreis, I guess it would be simpler to just create new main categories, then move and rename what would be the sub categories from within the admin panel... hmmm....

Yep, it's working this way, it's laborious and slow, but I have nothing other to do on a Saturday night than read internet s e x shops anyway :P
For the future though I'd be interested to know of a better way if anyone has any bright ideas?

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I'm using version 1.2.5.4 and I'm getting the "No model field in record" error. FYI, I've created tab-delimited files using XML, not Excel.
I've even downloaded the sample file from Easy Populate and tried to upload that (since all of those fields should be correct) and I still get the same error. It appears that other people have had problems with this error as well but I've found no solution that works for me yet.
Any ideas?
-
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I'm no expert on this, but I used Open Office to edit my file and had no problem whatsoever once I realised 1.2.5.4 is the way to go
Also, I'm not so sure that using the 'sample' file would work, isn't that just there to use as a guide?
-
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
AHA! I think I figured it out. I just needed to lead my products with the tab delimited headings in the txt file. Since I created my txt files with XML, I didn't include those column headings.

Use your phpMyAdmin to check the text encoding of your databases. You will need to ensure (using OpenOffice.Org) that when your import your txt file that you set it to the same text encode. I do not think excel is very good for honoring your text encoding. When you import into openoffice.org try both utf-8 and utf-16 to see when you get.
Per categories. I do not recall if multi-language support for categories is in 1.2.5.4 (or any version for that matter).

I fixed it. Admin Profiles mod has a patch or a single file that needs replaced. If you already have admin profiles installed and you upgrade it you have to copy the new file admin_control.php other wise you will not be able to install easy populate properly. The admin profiles mod will lock you out with out the patch.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I have one odd thing. I have 2 installations of zencart for 2 different sites. both identical installs. on one of my Easy Populate it says "Import from Temp Dir ()" on the other it says "Import from Temp Dir (temp/)" both work I just wondered why the one does not list the "temp" directory on the screen like the other?

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi-
Another newbie here. I'm bleary eyed from all the reading.
I am setting up a new store. I've gotten the hang of EP and uploading the data base. My question concerns the Blank Discounts Box. I have found where to enable it and manually enter the quantities and prices for quantity discounts. That's all OK with a handful of products but how can I get EP to populate those items automatically from the database?
I know it should be able to be done with minor changes, but I am totally at a loss at this point.
thanks

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Is this the same thread for 1.2.5.5 that uses a csv? I just installed this but am getting the same error.
EASYPOPULATE_MSGSTACK_INSTALL_KEYS_FAIL
I also had this error in 1.2.4.5 --
Is there something additional for the install I am missing that's obvious besides just copying in easypopulate.php into the admin folder? This seems like such a great product if I can get it working...

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
It's not about 1.2.5.4 but Easy Populate Advanced 3.0.3. But I couldn't find a right thread. Please help me!
I have installed Easy Populate Advanced 3.0.3 as per installation manual.
I have been using Easy Populate Advanced 3.0 before.
But Error message came up saying
Your uploads folder is either missing, has incorrect permissions, or does not correspond with the Easy Populate configuration. Please confirm that the Easy Populate Configuration contains the correct location of an existing folder. Easy Populate cannot operate until you have provided an uploads folder with read/write permissions. Note that these permissions are required by PHP and your web server application. Usually permissions equal to chmod 700 are required, but you may require chmod 777 depending on your hosting server setup.
As, I could not solve the problem above, I have decided to try Easy Populate 1.2.5.4.
Everything was working fine with 1.2.5.4 but I liked Advanced version better hence decided to install EP Advanced 3.0.3.
However, now error message come up as:
Configuration Error
Easy Populate has detected a version upgrade is required. Easy Populate will upgrade by clicking the link above.?Note: this will retain your current Easy Populate admin configuration.
?Easy Populate Upgrade Required. To upgrade retaining your current settings, click here.
When I click the click here button it comes up as
?Your installation was updated successfully and correct Easy Populate Advance 3.0.3 module shows up with upload / split / import, browse, data files and data templates etc.
However, when I click any of the buttons it goes back to Configuration Error message again.
I have deleted all the files and folders from EPAdvanced 3.0 or EP 1.2.5.4 and freshly installed EP Advanced 3.0.3
I am stuck!!! Your help would be much appreciated!!
Thanks for your time in advance!!!

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hi. I could solve my problem by force. It's ugly solution but I'm happy as it works.
I comment-out some lines in /admin/easypopulate.php:
/*
if (strpos($description['configuration_group_description'], $ep_version) == false || $keys_check_fail)
{
$config_fail[] = 'EASYPOPULATE_FAIL_CONFIG_UPGRADE';
$epMsgStack->add(sprintf(EASYPOPULATE_MSGSTACK_UPGRADE_RQD, '<a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_EASYPOPULATE, 'langer=update">'),'</a>'), 'caution');
}
*/
It doesn't show the configuration error about upgrade by it.
I'm not sure how influence it has but won't upgrade EP for a while. So it's enough for me.
Thank you!

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Sorry, but I'm another newbie who can't get Easy Populate to do a darn thing.
It installed okay, Temp folder permissions reset to 777, tab-delimited file seems to be read okay and I get an "Upload Complete" message with no errors...but also no products.
I've tried resetting categories in the ADMIN>TOOLS>STORE MANAGER, and I've tried reading Easy Populate's readme.txt file, but frankly a lot of it is just Greek to me.
Am I supposed to do something after I get the "Upload Complete" message? Or is there some extra configuration I'm supposed to be doing to the .CSV file before I upload it?
Thanks.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Okay, some tweaking on the tab-delimited file out of OpenOffice Calc got Easy Populate to at least install a category, but I get this error message with each product listing: "Warning An SQL error has occured. Please check your input data for tabs within fields and delete these. If this error continues, please forward your error log to the Easy Populate maintainer".
