IH ignores images in the "Med" and "LG" folders.
If you want to use another Product image then put it in the "Med" folder.
Back in this thread is a post on how to use different images using the "Med" and "Lrg" folder with IH.

I took a completely different image, renamed it to match the large image uploaded in the main directory for the product except I added _LRG and put it in the large directory and when going to the product I had the original small and medium images, controlled by IH and the large popup image was now the new one that I had uploaded into the large folder........apparently if IH finds a large image in the large folder named the same as the original main directory image it will then ignore the original large image in the main directory and use the one in the large folder. I do not know if the same theory works for the medium folder as I didn't test.
time expired to edit last post. I do not believe you can mix file types with this method of overriding. If you are using .jpg currently for the product image than the override image uploaded to the large folder must also be a .jpg To get a animated .gif to work as the override you will probably have to change the main image used for the product to a .gif
i am using v1.3.8a. i have checked all the files that image handler would overwrite and they are original.
Is it then safe for me to just copy the files and overwrite the ones that are there. or do i have to merge because of the versin difference.
i.e. it is ok for version 1.3.8a because because instructions either mention 1.3.x or 1.3.7
many thanks
I successfully installed the latest IH2 on a 1.3.8a cart. I liked it so much, I did an install on a 1.3.7 cart, but the images are not resized or have any fancy hover, "+" overlay or watermarks.
I have the same settings, image sizes, locations and template as the 1.3.8a cart that is working???
All images that are showing are the large images. The product detail page doesn't show the med image, just the text "larger image".
When viewing images in IH2 admin, they show with watermark, but no image will show in the "click to enlarge" pop-up???
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks
OK,
I had Image - Use Proportional Images on Products and Categories set to 0. When I set it to 1, Use Proportional Images on Products and Categories, it started working!
So, my new question is, how do I not use Proportional Images with IH2? Or is there another way to allow IH2 to scale the height if given a width?
Thanks
I guess I jumped the gun here! When using proportional images, the height and width are the max dimensions. I was under the impression that I was setting the actual fixed height and width dimensions!
I need to go back and read Image Handling for Dummies!
So I'm good to go...
Hi
My problem is that when I install IH2 on my local apache web server everything works fine. It doesn't work on my hosted server - images are actually resized and stored in cache directory correctly, but I can't see any pictures in zen-cart.
Something is wrong with file paths - in page source I can see sth like:
<img src="bmz_cache882e49fdbf3ac072b4cb184b4b2a0570d.image.100x56.gif"...
- looks like two slashes are missing - if there was "bmz_cache/8/82e49fdbf3ac072b4cb184b4b2a0570d.image.100x56.gif" everything would work fine.
Seems like it looses slashes at some point and after long research I couldn't find at what point.
Please forgive me if this has been asked before or even if I have asked it before, as it seems familiar! I also tried searching the thread to no avail...
I have a client who wants fairly large small and medium sized images, which means the mouseover image comes out larger than normal. As a result depending on where you are on the page, such as the all products, the mouseover image appears out of view in the browser.
Is thre a way to correct this?
thank you,
betty
IH seems to be the mod to have! I uploaded and installed it. Everything seems fine however when I went to use it in admin for the first time this is the error message:

hello,
I have installed image handler, but for some reason i cannot see it under my admin-->tools menu?
i very carefully copied every individual file to its correct folder. I just don't understand why it is not showing under the tools menu.
I tried doing it a couple of time. but same result.
any ideas why this is happening?
thanks
Hi
I have just installed IH2, from the manager I can see several pics of 1 proudct, however when I visit the product, only 1 pic shown like normal, no additional pic, no mouseover action
anything I need to set to achieve additional pic and mouseover?
FYI, I am using Cherry Zen template, and I am sure I have copied CSS and popup_image_additional folders to the template folder
thanks!
hi...i dont know why but after installing image handler i get blank space above my web page it seem to be a invisible new product pic....does anyone know how to fix this?...my webpage is http://joeslaptops.com..i would deeply apreciate any help:dontgetit
This site loads very slowly, the error appears only when hovering on an image.
Instead of getting a larger picture I get the blank space above.
I think that IH2 is mainly for additional images, not main images.
If you have a backup of site previous to install of IH2, I would revert to that and troubleshoot offline first.
There definitely is something wrong with the IH2 install.
Question for tophand: what utility are you using to see what files are missing?
The web browser "view source".
Can't see all what is missing but the most common ones that people miss are[FONT=monospace] [/FONT]style_imagehover.css and [FONT=monospace][/FONT]jscript_imagehover.js which can seen by using the "view source".
If using FireFox then install the Web Developer plugin for more tools that can help with Zen Cart.
M
You can possess as many extra images as you want. It is just similar commonplace Zen Cart with waiter side resizing and a commodious port to add the convenient images.

I have re-installed IH and I no longer have error messages however I don't have any of the features of IH on my site.
I do have the bmz_image_handler.class.php file. I'm not 100% sure it is where it should be - I looked it up in the developers tool kit
I don't have the jscript_imagehover.js file according to the developers tool kit. I uploaded the files that I unzipped for IH. Where do I find this file? I really want IH to work! I'm rebuilding my site from another and the idea of resizing my images for zencart is a task I want to avoid.
Thanks for replying! I really appreciate it.

Erin,
do you have a copy of the jscript_imagehover.js file in the js folder in your template? I ask because its not loading.
Hello all,
Thanks for taking the time to read my problem and possibly suggest a resolution. My large image is 578x550 pixels. I am using Image Handler 2.
The thumbnail, medium and large pictures all look great. When I load a product, and click on the image to get the "larger image" popup window, the window is too small width-wise for the image. In order to view the entire image, I have to resize the window another 10% to 20% or so to view the entire image.
I tried this in Firefox 2. Firefox 3, IE 6, IE 7. Does anyone have suggestions to modify some config option for the "larger image" window from the product info page to open and display the entire image?
Thanks in advance,
-Ed
Hey tophand,
Thanks for answer.
I do use "view source" of course, and also Web Dev toolbar.
I thought that you might be using something else, but now I see that it's mainly your knowledge.
Another FF extension that comes in handy is JS view, which lets you view js scripts even when called remotely.
I was just checking my files using ftp and I do have the jscript_imagehover.js
Any ideas?

Where did you download Image Handler from?
jscript_imagehover.js should be here.
Code:includes/templates/mbb/jscript/jscript_imagehover.js
had this issue myself, the fix was easy. upload all the files in your cache on your local webserver up to your live site. set all permissions to 777 the use image handler to empty the cache. if you no longer have these files create them then empty the cache.

I'm sure i'm overlooking something, but I can't find an exact answer to my issue. I'm using IH2 for the current release of ZC as of today.
IH2 install went smoothly, and it shows slightly larger thumbs on mouseover (I assume these are the medium size images), for product images. I have 3 questions.
1) Can I/how do I get it to show the Large image on mouse over to save someone from clicking the "Click for larger image" link?
2) It appears IH2 only shows product images on non product pages. For example, if I'm looking at a category, and want to see a larger thumbnail I mouse over the products in the list, however, if I'm on the actual product page, the larger thumb doesnt show unless I click the link underneath. Can I get it to work for these as well?
3) If I uploaded multiple pics using the Help/FAQs method of appending the additional images with _01,_02,etc, the image shows the + watermark from IH2, but doesn't show a mouseover thumb, can this be fixed?
If you could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.
My watermark is not working. I added the LRG and MED folders in my image directory, but I can't see them in the directory, it appears to be hidden. Any way to fix this?
Thanks
Hello:
I recently installed image handler 2, and have a particular problem with the hover effect.
The hover works for the sidebox new products, cross sell but not for the rest.
I have both jscript_imagehover and the style_imagehover installed in my custom folder. I look at length in the thread and it seems that others had the same problem, but I could not find an answer to mine.
I played with the image size as well, without effect.
I really like this contribution so if anybody has an idea, that will be great.
you can check my shoppingcart (still in construction): http://www.chloesco.com/shoppingcart
Thank you for your help.
Thank you for the insight. Now the hover is working everywhere except for the product info page???
I tried to play with the product info width and height but that change nothing. However I get the zoom icon on the image.
If you have any idea, it will be more than great...
Thank you
Everyone else must be having this problem...anyone fix it?
The hover image seem to 'pop' underneath my dropdown menus (attributes), but only in IE6...it works fine in Firefox.
Help!?!?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
SIG: Microsoft is a never-ending bane to my existance.
What the heck! I've installed IH2 many times without a problem - but this one has me perplexed!
Hover is not functioning, the + doesn't show up on the images and additional images don't show up. (per previous posts I edited the file to fix this too!)
I've spent the last hour reading this thread and I've tried EVERYTHING!
What have I missed???
I can give you a link to the site thru PM.
A huge THANKS anyone who wants to look at this for me.
Tina
I have Zen Cart 1.3.8 and installed Image Handler 2.0 zc137.
I tested the site a few days ago and everything worked fine. After I installed Image Handler 2 some of the pages went blank.
Any ideas why?
Thanks a lot for your help!
happened here as well
I went to a product that wouldn't show the pictures when clicking the (I), went to ftp as root and deleted the first picture that was submitted (normal ftp wont delete as they were owned by Apache).
like magic, the category came back and I was able to see the product and manage the IH features
I just found that my IH does not work on the sidebox under Product info page
on the main page, it works well with every sidebox and center column, but in product info page, it does not have popup image when I hover the sidebox pic (eg. featured, new products...)
any idea?
thanks a lot in advance

First off, I've searched the thread. Over and Over and Over again. I've uploaded and re-uploaded my files, over and over again. I've installed, and uninstalled, over and over again. Yes, all my files are there.
And yet, my additional images Still wont show up. They show up in my IH2 manager (admin), but not in my cart. If you click on my sig below, then on the special for August (shameless plug:P) you will see, or not see what I mean.
I am using Zen 1.3.8, and image-handler_2.0-zc137.
If any one had figured out what to do, please let me know. I've gotten dizzy:blink::lamo:
What happens if you strip the dash (-) out of the filenames?
There is a fix for additional images not showing up. Have you done that yet?

Tina
Tina and Mike,
None of that works. I've tried it. I even took the dashes "-" out of the file names. Nothing! All of the other features of IH2 work great, I've just never ever ever been able to get extra images to show up in my cart.
The show up fine in the IH2 manager in admin just fine. But Not in the cart.
The problem with using that fix is it causes errors on the page.It has extra \ in it. Leave those in, or take them out, makes no difference what so ever, it still doesn't work.Code:$parameters .= ($parameters != '') ? ' ' : '';
if (!($_GET['main_page']==FILENAME_PRODUCT_INFO)) {
return $parameters . 'style="position:relative" onmouseover="showtrail(' . "'$products_image_zoom','$alt',$width,$height,$zoomwidth,$zoomheight,this," . $this->zoom['startx'].','.$this->zoom['starty'].','.$this->zoom['width'].','.$this->zoom['height'].');" onmouseout="hidetrail();" ';
} else {
return $parameters . 'style="position:relative" onmouseover="showtrail(' . "\'$products_image_zoom\',\'$alt\',$width,$height,$zoomwidth,$zoomheight,this," . $this->zoom['startx'].','.$this->zoom['starty'].','.$this->zoom['width'].','.$this->zoom['height'].');" onmouseout="hidetrail();" ';
}
}
}
}
}
Can anyone tell me where I'm supposed to put the bmz_cache folder?
bmz_cache folder goes in the store root (public_html or public_html/YOUR_STORE_DIRECTORY)
So I'm going to assume that no one actually has a clue how to make IH2 work with additional images?
Not sure how many products you have with multiple images. I just picked one of your categories at random and found an additional image on 1 of the 7 products listed:
http://www.ashbysonline.com/all-surf...per-p-410.html
If you let me know a product that should have an additional image but doesn't, give us URL to take a look.
John
http://www.ashbysonline.com/40-chann...dio-p-547.html should have 3 additional images.
Maybe if I offered a little more info about the images themselves I might get a response:
The main image is:
cobra-76xtr.gif
The other three are:
cobra-76xtr-pkg.jpg
cobra-76xtr-2.jpg
cobra-76xtr-3.jpg
IH2 recognizes and picks up, and lists the additional images just fine but zencart does not. So, perhaps it isn't an IH2 problem but a zencart problem? Could I be posting in the wrong thread? If so, could some point me to the right thread, or offer the right fix? Please? Pretty please?
So that suggests that extra images have to be named (formatted) and added manually, regardless of whether or not the supplier provides virtually identical names?
There is a ZC base name, IH2 will add names to your additional images based on that one.
You cannot name your base image cobra-76xtr-pkg.jpg and your additional cobra-76xtr-2.jpg, notice the pkg is missing, so's the underscore.
I suggest you do not attempt to rename your additionals at all and let IH2 do the job.
Is it only the includes/templates/custom folder I need to use the override system for this?
I finally seem to have it working. Don't know what I did, other than play with the file names a little.
I do have one other question though. Is there any way to place the additional images underneath the main image instead of at the bottom of the page?
Ok, I figured that one out. How to move the additional images where you want them. It's done in:
includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php
Look near the bottom, around line 168 forHighlite and copy that portion of code (ALL of it) and just past it anywhere in tpl_product_info_display.php you want it to appear (leave the origional line where it was so you can always revert back to the origional position). Paste and Undo, Upload and reload, Paste and Undo, Upload and reload until you are satisfied that you either love it or hate it. If you love it, then delete the one at the bottom of the page, upload and go!PHP Code:
<!--bof Additional Product Images -->
<?php
/**
* display the products additional images
*/
require($template->get_template_dir('/tpl_modules_additional_images.php',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'templates'). '/tpl_modules_additional_images.php'); ?>
<!--eof Additional Product Images -->
But remember, KEEP AN UNTOUCHED COPY OF tpl_product_info_display.php SOMWHERE SAFE so if you mess up the one you are playing with, you still have the origional to keep your site safe and sound with. BACK UP BACK UP BACK UP!!!!!!!!
Where did you put it to get directly under the main image? Save me the hassle ;)
Yay,
There is a contrib. for that, "Additional images relocated with CSS", look in the download area.
I tried to put the addtional images directly under the primary image and it doesn't look too good. I put mine at the top like this, CLICK HERE, If you want to do that, you place the code like this: (note, code in RED is the code to move around, and is always "sandwiched between an <!--eof blah blah-->and a <!--bof blah blah-->)
However, if you insist on putting the additional images below the primary image, you would do it like this:Code:<!--eof Prev/Next top position-->
<!--bof Additional Product Images -->
<?php
/**
* display the products additional images
*/
require($template->get_template_dir('/tpl_modules_additional_images.php',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'templates'). '/tpl_modules_additional_images.php'); ?>
<!--eof Additional Product Images -->
<!--bof Main Product Image -->
Hope that helpsCode:<!--eof Main Product Image-->
<!--bof Additional Product Images -->
<?php
/**
* display the products additional images
*/
require($template->get_template_dir('/tpl_modules_additional_images.php',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'templates'). '/tpl_modules_additional_images.php'); ?>

Glad to see that your additional images are showing up. Looks like you've resolved your problem.
John
I'm really not a fan of the zen logic how to handle images.. What I'm trying to achieve is get rid of those annoying med and lrg extensions and only have productimage.jpg, productimage_detail.jpg, productimage_detail2.jpg etc.
- I wouldn't use large images at all.. only the medium sized product images
- Additional images could be changed via mouseclick (I know there is a mod for this but it does not work with IH2 - at least i don't know how)
- What I'd need IH to do is to create thumbs just for the product listings etc..
Any help on this matter would be really appreciated..
The best way to add additional images is using the actual Image Handler interface as it will rename your images appropriately.
Keep in mind that you must keep your "Main Image" names from being to similar:
- productimage_1.gif and productimage_2.gif if assigned to two different products would give you an additional image on product 1 using product 2's image. They're too closely related, instead try the following.
- greenproductimage_1.gif, blueproductimage_2.gif
Hope that makes sense.
I sent all of the files over via FTP and ImageHandler is not listed under the Admin Tools menu. I tried a few times and also check the permissions. I am using the Silverfish Template.
Can anyone help?
I think that the third time was the charm. FOr some reason it showed up now!
Thanks!
I have a problem with this wonderful image handler with the additional images.
When i have a new product and i put 3 additional images to theat product it works wonderful.
But when I delete the images and i want to upload another image(s), the images won't show up in the frontend.
In the backend the images are shown perfectly.
So when i have changed or delete an additional image i can't use for that product an additional image. Why?
I am using image_handler__for_vx_2-0_for_137 on ZC 138
Sorry if this question has been answered but I can't find any posts with my particular problem and I have tried various fixes to no avail. I have checked all my files to see if they are there and in the right place.
My problem is everything looks great in IE, but when using Firefox the additional images stretch across the right side, pouring into my right side tables and if I have any more than 3 images the rest dissappear. In IE they are under the main image and staying within the center table (which is how I would like it to look in Firefox) I haven't even tried other browsers yet, one problem at a time :blush:
Here's a good example (opened in firefox of course):

I am using Cherry Zen Template and don't have a ton of other mods. None that would effect images or tables. Please help =(

Hello,

I am uploading using IH admin. The images which are created in the bmz_cache folder are fine but the main image in the images folder which is used in the popup gets uploaded with permissions set to 600. This means it cannot be accessed.
It's not a host issue because when I use the normal zen-cart method to upload an image; ie; Categories/Products/New Product/Products Image > Choose file,
the image is upload to the images folder with permissions set to 777.
I can change the permissions with ftp but I have a client who will be unimpressed if I have to teach him that.
Thanks for your help.
Your host could be running a very strict "mod_security" which see Zen-cart as a valid program so it allows unloads but sees IH (hacker) as not a valid program so it flags the image file 600.
This maybe of help.

Have tried putting the following into the htaccess file for both admin and the main directory but still have the same permissions problem:
<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>
Spoke to my hosting company and they said "libc6 is responsible for resetting uploaded file permissions to -rw------- . " and that they think Zen-Cart has been updated to work with libc6 and presumably IH2 has not been.
I have no idea what libc6 is apart from something to do with Linux but if anyone has any idea for a workaround I'd love to hear suggestions.
believe i have found a problem. i have 1.3.8 running with admin profiles / privliges. after installing image handler it over rides the admin profiles mod.
With admin profile i am ment to be able to deny other admins access to areas and hide the unused buttons. This was working correct. After installing image handler all the buttons now show but still when clicked get the no access warning.
This makes the admin section very cluttered and not how i want it.
