Recommend using an application that will compare files. This way you can add contributions to modified carts properly.:flex:

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
I can't get Google checkout to show up on my checkout page. I was able to set it up just fine. I even see where I can review sales reports from Google, but it's useless because it doesn't show up as an option at check out. My Log files are set to 777.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Log out. Put something in the cart and then run through to check out. The button will show up then.
If it does not, then Google is not able to talk to your site. We'll visit that, if said if occurs.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Has anyone done an update of the Google Analytics tracking code in this package?
I might have a go myself if no-one else has - the old file done by ropu is
\root\zen_googlecode\googlecheckout\library\googlecart.php
and contains the old urchin tracking code.
Would like to get the new code in there.
-
Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
You are looking for responsehandler_test_v1.2.php
It is dated prior to the release of the module yet has the analytics code and urchin working great in my google account.
This file site sits with the regular responshandler.php in the googlecart directory. Do not copy one into the other.
There is also a separate Google cart Analytics add on.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
I searched for hours for help on 'Default Values for Real Time Shipping Rates" and I'm still confused...
I've done some test checkouts and they all calculate shipping correctly. However, my first genuine Google sale happened today and it came through with the wrong shipping method, and under-charged the customer for shipping.
My question : When using the Shipping Method Generator do I have to specify all my weight bands and how much each weight costs?
Or do I just give it my two shipping methods (Table and Airmail), and let it just calculate one weight band for each ? (seems to be 109g for some reason).

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
I am having trouble with Google Check Out and Real Time shipping. I've searched high and low and cannot find a solution anywhere on the web- including here (plenty of others with similar troubles, dating as far back as early 2007, but no one provides an answer... does that mean no solution exists?).
I currently have GCO as payment option and UPS and USPS as shipping (gave up on trying to get Fedex module to work with GCO - what a nightmare! and a shame too). I am using Merchant Calculation mode for shipping and have set the defaults for the shippings services I use under: "Default Values for Real Time Shipping Rates."
Here's the thing: I'm only getting Real Time rates for USPS about 65% of the time and UPS is even worse; I only saw a Real Time UPS Rate ONCE! which probably equates to about 1 percent of the time that I've been working on this for the past three days.
I understand the implications of "Default values for real time rates in case the webservice call fails." but what I do not understand is why the webservice calls would seemingly be failing so often??? I mean- really- is that normal? Are we more likely to have to charge arbitrairily default values for shipping as opposed to real values and either: a). loose money on shipping or b). upset customers who perceive shipping to be too high?
I know that there must be a solution to this that I am merely overlooking (though darned if I can find it). I've really bought into this whole open-source ZEN thing (power to the people, and all that) but holey-shamoley! Is it really only viable for dot guru types!? I'm sorry if I sound flustered (which I nearly am at this point) but I'm just not feeling the ZEN here (and I want to).
I would apprciate ANY suggestions concerning a solution, a hint in the right direction, or even an alternative. Thanks.
Oh- and one last thing. I tried the set CURL Proxy Status = false as suggested in DrByte's announcement (because I'm hosting on GoDaddy) and so far results appear the same - intermitent, at best. I'm using the most current versions of everything. ... Can anyone help?

I have the same problem. The reason is Google Checkout only gives 3 seconds for our server to come back with the shipping costs. If it doesnt, it uses the default values.
It is my understanding that there is something that godaddy does that slows down this process. i've heard from many people that this problem goes away after they move to a different host. I've been really reluctant to move, but it looks like there is no choice. i will try to it soon and will post back ..
Another possible solution is to use Google Calculated Shipping rates (but it doesnt work for my situation) - you can set it to do that under configuration of google payment module.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Hi greenhat,
And thanks for the response. You know- I've been suspisious of GoDaddy being the problem but am juggling so many other things with trying to get my store to the point of being 'live' that I guess I just didn't want to face the probablility of having to move to another host. But maybe that's the answer (still hoping for 'a fix' from any of the rest of you out there).
As to using Google Calculated Shipping rates: that doesn't work for my situation either. I offer check/money order payments and the Google Calculated Shipping rates do not show up on the Zen Cart Check Out page.
Let me know how moving from GoDaddy goes for you and I'll do the same if I decide that a move is all that I can do in order to go forward. (any one else? don't be shy ... help a Zenner out).

Wow. Just looked at that posted example link ... rather enlightening. And I can add that when trying to get some help from GoDaddy support recently, in relating an error that mentions something about SQL and 'Zencart' and that occurs when trying to bring up or reload my store page... the reply from GD support was something like "yeah ... sorry but we don't answer questions about 3rd party applications' -even though I used their Zencart Installer that is bundled in their basic hosting package. And the answer looked sort of 'canned' (righhhhht ...)
So here's the new question (though not barring the possibility of a reply to the original question, which was basically: 'why don't Google Check Out work with Real Time Shipping rates?' (refer to original post by SpeedCreed, 3 or 4 posts up) ... NEW QUESTION: So then, which hosting provider have you found to be most compatible with Zen Cart running Google Check Out and Real Time Shipping while still being economical (cheap) like GoDaddy?

No confirmation emails from ZC for Google Checkout transactions
SETUP: I am using ZenCart 1.3.8a + Google Checkout module v.1.4.7
LIVE, not SANDBOX
PROBLEM:
Nearly everything is working properly except for:
1. email confirmations (from the ZC store) to buyer and admin are not being sent for GC processed orders.
2. Order status changes made from ZC are not reflected on the GC order status page. For example, if i cancel an order in the GC admin page i will immediately see the order cancelled in ZC. If I cancel an order in ZC, the change will never occur on the on GC page.
Everything else related to order processing is working properly to my knowledge and the information is being passed between the two correctly.
RELATED:
I am seeing the same behavior mentioned in this post here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...postcount=2699 and this post here: http://groups.google.com/group/googl...0228892a802923
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
My email is managed by google, which i am assuming is related the problem, however.....
If i place an order but use another payment method, both the admin and buyer receive a confirmation email from the address set in email options.
If i send an email from the ZC email 'Send Email To Customers' form it works properly.
If i configure a third party smtp server in email options and set email to SMTPAUTH there is still no confirmation mails send from Zen. I was assuming that the google checkout module used the email settings from ZC, but perhaps it is using something else entirely?
Since the emails sent from ZC are not actually using the google servers, why doesn't the Google Checkout module send confirmation messages using the same method? (ie, PHP, sendmail or whatever is setup and working.) ?
And yes my MX records are properly set to: MX 0 aspmx.l.google.com.
MY POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
I intend to only use google checkout for this site, so would it be prudent to simply remove all account related functions from ZC? It seems drastic, but i'm actually quite impressed with the google checkout order process updating procedure so i wouldn't find doing it all from there and merely using ZC as a log of previous orders. At this point, the customers are not receiving the password that should be sent during the order process, so my options are dwindling. They can use the 'forgot my password' link to get a new one, but that's a lame workaround.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
I haven't seen this issue in the forum so I thought I'd see if anyone else has seen this. I've had GC installed and running fine for a few months or so I thought. It seems GC is only recognizing the first product in the shopping cart. If there is more than one product, it disregards it. If a qty of more than one is purchased of one product, GC sees it just fine. If there are more than 1 product in the cart, only the first one gets passed to GC. We reviewed all our GC orders over the past few months and low and behold, all orders have only 1 product in them. Has anyone else seen this?
Thanks!

I figured out my issue. Another person in the post mentioned their cannot be two files with the same name. I went back to my original zip file and the installation instructions. There are suppose to be two file with the same name (googlecheckout.php) installed at two different locations. It wasn't until I opened each file individually that I realized each of these "googlecheckout.php"s contained different code. I copied one of the files to one directory and other other file to another directory. It works fine now. I have no error messages.

I have not observed this issue. Review the XML in your local googlecheckout log files, to ensure multiple items are included in the XML.
Also may want to check the error log in your GC account.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
I have switched my site to Production (after it all worked fine in Sandbox) and now when I try to hit Google Checkout it goes to the GC page and just says "Oops error" or something like that...is that just a generic error message or...?
Edit: Just checked the log and it says:
"Mon Dec 29 15:27:17 MST 2008:- Failed to Get Basic Authentication Headers"

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Is Google Checkout Sandbox testing supposed to clear the shopping cart and show each purchase in the Admin panel? ...Or is that only in Production mode?
-
Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
What is your domain? Let's try this out.
Have you gone through the tools, settings, orders, and integration to see if there are any errors and your orders are appearing correctly?
Make sure Google can talk to your https://site.com/googlecheckout/responsehandler.php

I think I discovered part of the problem. Earlier I had set the permissions for the entire http//your-site/googlecheckout/ folder to 777, so that I could experiment with the .htaccess Basic Authentication Mode script. Then I forgot to set it back to 755. This caused a 500 internal server error for googlecheckout/responsehandler.php because it was group writable.
I also noticed that purchases do not show up in admin panel if the googlecheckout folder chmod is set to 744 or 754. Alas, 755 seems to be the only setting that works for me.
Now my orders show up in admin but do not clear the shopping cart.
Still working on it.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Does anyone by any chance know where to change the sort order of the shipping options displayed when a customer is checking out using GCO? The default right now is showing UPS and I'd like to change that.
We currently offer UPS and USPS shipping but when customers are checking out the first option they see is UPS Ground and we want to change that USPS First Class.
Thanks!

I think this depends on which generation method you are using.
If you have Carrier Calculated Shipping set to "true" then the Google Checkout site creates the shipping price list itself and I don't think you can change it. (This probably comes from a database of prices.) If, however, you have Carrier Calculated Shipping set to "false" then Google uses your store (real time) Calculations. It knows what methods you have enabled because your site sends a file called ../googlecheckout/shipping_methods.php. (Or at least, it uses this file to build a list.) You could try changing the order of the methods listed in this file but I don't know if that will do it or not. You could also try running the shipping_generator utility that came with GC. Again, I don't know if the generator even obeys the sort order of your admin shipping modules page but it is worth a try.
This is as close as I can get you to an answer. You are on your own from here. Good luck.

Thanks, we use merchant calculated shipping and I tried your suggestions prior to posting and it made no difference. Inside our shipping_methods.php file, UPS is not the first array so I don't think that's where GCO is getting the sort order from. I even change each shipping option name to be numeric and GCO first first by UPS and USPS and then numeric within that. It's a mystery for sure where the sort order is defined (at least for now). I do however wonder if the cc_shipping_methods.php file controls it since that's the only place I see UPS listed ahead of USPS even though we are not using carrier calculated.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
webskipper,
If you reinstalled or worked on another module, (or any files for that matter,) and suddenly other things stop working, it is "probable" that you have left one of your files or folders set to the wrong permissions.
On Linux/Unix hosts, permission-setting should be:
folders/directories: 755
files: 644 (with some exceptions from install instructions)
config.php: 444
That is where I would look first.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Wondering is anyone can help!
I have just installed googlecheckout into my zen install 1.3.8a by editing the various files.
Im now getting the error
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 46080 bytes) in /home/sites/aworldofpets.co.uk/public_html/shop/includes/modules/shipping/rmstdparcels250.php on line 96
When I click on edit google checkout.
Just wondering if anyone has had this before and knows a fix? Im guessing its something to do with the big royal mail patch I have installed?
Many thanks...

Mine won't charge sales tax either. Maybe it's a GC site issue. I just added a little extra onto the Carrier Calculated prices because they are too low anyway.

The GoogleCheckout button only appears in the shopping cart when you have items in it. I saw it on your site. The other place it normally appears is on the login page. I did NOT see it there on your site. The other thing I did not see is an SSL indication. You will need SSL if you want Google to transmit order information back to your admin.
As gobrinton posted, it is normal for Google Checkout to not be displayed in the Checkout page.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Google just needs to know where your responsehandler file is. It should be a path something like...
https_://_www_your_domain_com/googlecheckout/responsehandler.php
or perhaps...
https_://_www_your_domain_com/store_folder/googlecheckout/responsehandler.php
(without the underscores, of course)
Also the Callback method should be XML.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Hi.
I'm keen to install this module but as I live in the UK I have a query regarding shipping.
Obviously, the default shipping options are of no use to me. I have a Royal Mail module installed which calculates shipping charges. These are picked up by Paypal.
The release notes from Google say:-
9. GoogleCheckout Carrier Calculated Shipping. Set if you want or not to use CCS.
Note that if you enable CCS, all Merchant Calculation Modules will be IGNORED
for GC orders. Only Flat Rate shippings will be included with CCS.
Does this mean, in other words that with CCS disabled GoogleCheckout will use the shipping rate calculated by the existing option?
Kind regards
Philip

Yes, sort of...
There are two different options to choose from, CCS and Real Time.
CCS means that Google Checkout (GC) ignores any shipping info that comes from your site. Instead GC looks up the shipping costs from a database, (I assume it is based on "to and from" locations that the carriers have calculated in advance.) It presents the buyer with rates from two or three different carriers. Some feel that these rates are not always up to date and accurate. On the other hand, some like it because it is a no-fuss no-muss method.
Real Time means that GC makes every attempt to use whatever "real time look up" method your site has done. The module files that come with Google Checkout already know about all of the default or built-in modules that are in ZC. It also comes with a handy utility to add new shipping modules (to the list) that you have added to ZC yourself. However, if the new modules are too complicated, then there is no guarantee that they will work correctly.
With both modes of operation, you can provide a list of rock bottom "Default" rates, just in case any of the look-ups would fail.
Some store owners seem to get it working well and some don't. What have you got to lose?

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
In the google payment module go on edit mode and set
"GoogleCheckout Carrier Calculated Shipping
Do you want to use GC Carrier calculated shipping? This feature can be mixed with Flat Rate Shipping, but not Merchant Calculated."
This to "False" This will prevent all the choices during checkout.

Many thanks for that. I've started to install.
Has anyone any experience of using Google Checkout with the Big Royal Mail module?

That is at the Google Checkout site.
Log in, then click... My Sales > Settings > Integration
You can also browse around in the Preferences, Taxes, and stuff too. Oh, and familiarize yourself with the Tools > Integration Console while you test your site. It is sort of like an error log for the callback system.
EDIT: Between that log, the error log in your Googlecheckout folder, and your servers' error log, you should be able to troubleshoot all problems.

Google Checkout returning Whoops! Your session has expired.
Hello,
I've just installed google checkout module on the latest version of zen cart, but when the customer has used google checkout, the order is not getting put into the admin of zen cart, the orders dont seem to appear!
When the user has placed the order and are directed back to the zen cart website they get this:
Whoops! Your session has expired.
The order appears with google checkout when i check that account but its not appearing in zen cart.
Can anyone help?
Thanks Steve

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
i get the following error when changing customers status!
1146 Table 'zencart.google_orders' doesn't exist
in:
[select google_order_number from google_orders where orders_id= 237]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
all i have done is updated the PHP files in my store and not installed the modular yet as google is still sorting my account out.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Hello everyone:
if use Google Checkout, does it mean that my customers would not have to register with my zen cart store?
I'm sorry if this questions has been asked before.
Thanks.
-
Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Correct. If a customer puts items into the cart and selects to pay with Google Checkout, they do not need to register an account at your store. The only way of knowing you have made a sale is by the e-mail Google Checkout sends to you. There will not be a record of sale recorded in your store database. Additionally, I believe customers will not be able to take advantage of discount coupons either.
Personally, I wish it forced customers to create an account so I can keep track of ALL customers and also the inventory. Yep, Google Checkout does not reduce your inventory either.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
I thought that the orders were supposed to show up in the admin. I've just installed google checkout and can't seem to get them to show up in the admin, but everything I've read on the forum says that the orders should show up.....

Orders ARE supposed to show up in admin. Reasons they might not:
You don't have SSL installed
The API Callback URL in your Google account is incorrect
You have not selected XML as the callback method

Yep, Google Checkout does not reduce your inventory either.
With Google Checkout installed correctly, you WILL get orders recorded in your store database and you WILL have your inventory adjusted accordingly.
You DO need SSL installed for this to work, though...

Is it supposed to empty the shopping cart too? Mine shows up in admin but does not empty the cart of logged in members.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
I have no idea what I've done wrong. I put the right URL in google and I've run the test which didn't come back with any errors. If I place an order, it goes through google, I get the google emails for both the customer and store owner, but it does not show the order in the zen admin and it does not clear the shopping cart. Any ideas of what I should check?

Someone wise wrote this just a few posts back.
"...familiarize yourself with the Tools > Integration Console [at Google] while you test your site. It is sort of like an error log for the callback system.

Hope this helps you.
Ironically it's not showing any errors for my problem of emptying the cart. Maybe my SSL is not compatible. (Hmm, still working on it...)

Yes, I saw that and as I mentioned....there are no errors listed anywhere yet it's still not working properly.

Did you get anything back in your admin?
Did you find any errors logged in your Google account Tools>Integration console?

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Nope...nothing in the admin...no order and no new customer and nothing logged in the integration console. There's no record of the order on google at all but I did get the email that there was an order placed.

Are you checking your Sandbox account? Was there a link on the email you received that takes you to the order? There is on the receipt email I just received.

Is your API Callback URL:
https://www.happyfaebodyshoppe.com/g...nsehandler.php
or
http://www.happyfaebodyshoppe.com/go...nsehandler.php
Either one appears to be good (one is https://...)
Do you have XML checked as the callback method?
Be sure to check the settings in your Sandbox account as that is what you have selected to use currently.
-
Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
No, I just looked in google and didn't see anything there for orders. However, when I go back to the email and click the link as you suggested, then it will pull up the order in google.
The API call back URL is set as https://www.happyfaebodyshoppe.com/g...nsehandler.php and XML is checked.

Please confirm that you checked the settings in your Sandbox. This is different than your regular account. Go to My Account on Google. Click on Checkout Sandbox. Once you sign in you should see your orders and a parallel set of options to your regular Checkout account, except that they made things extremely difficult to see because the splashed red junk all over the page. Check the settings in there.
Also check the Tools>Integration console in there.
I apologize if you've been checking Sandbox all along.
-
Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Ok...I hadn't done that before, but the orders still didn't show up there either. It says no orders (and the google sandbox red stuff is all over the page this time) and I don't see a place to check the sandbox settings.....there's just a bar in the center that says no orders.
-
Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
oh good lord I'm losing it....I've found the sand box sales...give me a sec and let me see if I can find the settings too....

Try clicking on My Account again and clicking Checkout Sandbox again (it took me several tries before I got to a sandbox page that had tabs for the settings).

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
One more question...the only thing I didn't see is an zen cart email announcing the sale to the store owner or customer. Is the google email the only emails that get sent when the order is processed on google?

I just get the Google emails. There's a setting near the bottom of your gco payment module in zen cart admin to "Also send notifications with Zencart." I have mine set to False. You can change that and see if you get emails from your cart too.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
I've been searching for a while and haven't come across a solution for my issue, so hoping that someone has had the problem and can point me in the right direction.
I'm currently working in sandbox mode on my test site to be sure things are working correctly. Everything is working fine at the moment. Orders are being placed and correctly being sent back to ZC and can see all the items in the admin console
The only problem that i'm having deals with the order update.
The orders are showing as updated in my Zen Cart console but on the google end, nothing is being updated.
If I updated from Google, the changes are successfully reflected back in Zen Cart.
In my response_message log, the following appears ..
Sat Jan 24 9:33:21 MST 2009:- <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><notification-acknowledgment xmlns="http://checkout.google.com/schema/2"/>
It seems like the XML is not created on the ZC side. I'm guessing I've screwed something up!
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

I checked my response handler and it's set up for my store on eCrater. Is there a way to setup Google Checkout to handle more than one webstore so that it will function properly in Zen Cart? By properly, I mean to have customer orders show up in Zen Cart. The way it's currently setup, people can use Google Checkout, but I only receive an email they placed an order (and paid). Nothing is record in Zen Cart. Customers don't have to register.

You MUST have SSL on your zen cart in order to get orders back at your admin. It appears that you do not have it installed for your cart. You will also have to create a separate Google Checkout account for your zen cart and point the Callback URL to your zc responsehandler.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Thanks. I signed up for another Google Checkout Merchant account and am waiting to verify my bank account. After that, I will edit my Google Checkout account and also the GC payment module in Zen Cart to reflect the correct information.

This bug appears for some. Usually only applies to the initial order via GC. Thereafter corrects itself, after customer whom made that initial order manually empties their cart and logs out. As an admin you can do this for them.

Correct. The mod developer wanted to enable sending a ZC order email to customer (as well as well as the required email from GC), however due to integration issues (including not requiring a ZC shop login to submit an order via GC) such feature was not implemented.
But at least the corresponding ZC order number was included in the GC delivered order email, so you can reconcile a specific GC order with a specific ZC order.

Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Hi all,
A client made their first sale over the weekend via Google Checkout.
Couple of problems though:
1. There dosen't seem to be any record of it in Zen Cart - eg under the Google Checkout order statistics when you login to the admin - thye're all at 0. There are no customers logged either.
2. There was no email sent to the address set in Zen Cart. Only realised when they logged into the actual Google Checkout account.
I've used GC on a few ZC sites now with no problem and set this up in exactly the same way - any ideas?

Re: Google checkout not clearing shopping cart
Carlozdre, you are a superstar.
I just couldn't get my response from google to work and did not get any errors.
Although I find it hard to believe, in the end it was the chmod from 777 to 755 to googlecheckout dir that made it work!!! 777 exposes you but wouldn't think it would prevent it from working.
Anyway, thanks Carlozdre - you're a lifesaver.

You will receive an email from Google with the order information. You can then go to your Google Checkout account and finish processing the order. You will have to manually adjust your cart amounts.
Having SSL means you can do all the order processing from within your zen cart admin and not have to go to your Google Checkout account.

I suppose the information is rather scattered throughout all of the read-me's and troubleshooting text. There are only a few things to setup at Google.
These pages may help...
