Cherry Zen Template Support Thread

Hy there.
Just started with Zencart. Testing on free account.
Downloaded Cherry Zen but for some reason it will not display corectly. No any editing done yet.

Using IE8.
Main page appers to have less width than 1000px and text pops out of the designated boxes.
Same story with text in side boxes.
The grey backround of side boxes enters the center white space each and there.
Top buttons "Home", "Login",etc are distorted.
Search header appears only after activation in side boxes and in side boxes is out of allignment.
However if selected "Login" the page looks fine.
Same if selected"My account"

Using Firefox.
Problems only with side boxes text. (too large text coming out of its boxes)

Pls help. anybody?:oops:

I have looked and searched and I can't find how I can remove the listings over my pictures on the subcatagory pages.
These are the words in the middle of the page They have the dotted lines separating the different categories.

Any help will be appreciated.

You can see all the banner at the bottom. I tried everythign with my website but nothing works. Footer 2 or 3 put the banner at the header and footer 1 nothing at all..i'm not sure waht the setting for these. :frusty:

This issue is not specific to the Cherry Zen template so I recommend asking the question on another forum e.g. the Page Layout Changes, General Customization Issues or General Questions forums.

Hi!

I have a client who wants to have the All Products link in the Category Tree in Red to stand out more.

I'm guessing it would have to be done with CSS but any ideas on what I need to do?

Hi, Jadetrue (or someone who may know)...

Having a minor problem with the left side category sidebox. I have a product category then sub-categories under it. To the left of each sub-categoy is an underscore. Here's what it looks like:

Our Collections->
|_ Dolphins and More
|_ Feathered Real Estate
|_ Globes Extraordinaire
|_ Hummingbird Haven
|_ Timeless Timekeepers

I'm sure this is an easy fix but I'm sort of at a loss as to where to look in the CSS (which I'm sure that's where I'd go). The links work fine but it just doesn't look as if the underscores should be there.

Im not 100% sure id this is to do with the template or not but here goes. Ive installed one of the lightbox add ons and noticed that on the product page underneath the product image the "larger image" text is sitting at the bottom of the box with the drop shadow but isnt aligned properly. Had a look through the CSS but I cant see where this element is.

In Admin, go to Configuration/Layout Settings/Categories Separator between the Category Name and Sub Categories

And change it there.

I just installed Cherry Zen and have only made changes to images and the "define pages - Main Page".

I logged in as a user and when I hit submit, I got a white page (blank).

I hit back and refresh and everything looks fine. When I hit checkout (even though I have no products yet) I get a white (blank) page. Where could I be getting these blank pages from?

I've been going through the stylesheet adding styles for hyperlinks (visited, hover, link) for the category-top, sideboxcontent, and other sections. I want to keep all the navigation and sidebox links one color while changing only the hyperlinks that appear in the body pages.

I've got it figured out and it's working great, but the strange thing is that as soon as I enter either "Log in", "Checkout", or "My Account", the changes I made completely disappear site-wide and revert back to the default hyperlink colors.

As far as I can tell there is not another stylesheet being called when going into the Checkout and My Account pages. I am thinking that this has something to do with SSL activating when accessing these pages. I am not sure how to resolve this.

Any ideas?

Help Needed Here, I am setting up my store but when I try to add to cart, product is added to cart but the page is totally blank out. This is my website:

Anybody knows what is wrong with my setup? I had changed the default currency to my local currency. Other than that, no big changes I did to the cart.

I am far from an expert, but the problem appears to be on /includes/languages/english.php:1401
(:1401 means line 1401).

I found the "header already sent" issue in the FAQs:

Could be some blank spaces on line 1401. If you have never modified the english.php file, you may want to upload the file again from the stock zen cart files and see if the issue goes away.

I am wondering how to use solely the search box and the search button from Cherry Zen template.
I really like that and I wonder what part you need to change in order to get the same result for Zen Cart Default template.

I have tried to tweak the css, but it seems like the main part of the programming is in search_header.php, but I don't know how to use this information.

Just wondered whether anyone has tried Dynamicconverter (a currency converter) with this template. It works fine on all pages except the product information page where the h2 prices at the top of the page need re-formatting which is where I have become stuck.

This is not a live site. There are a couple of problems. One is that in order for the Java script to pick up the price the H2 heading has to be changed to a span (apparently - I am no expert) which throws out all the following formatting. There is also a tax inc/exc mod but I don't think this is causing any problem.

The second problem, which I haven't looked at yet, is that 'checkout' button on the shopping cart page is covered by the converted price making it impossible to proceed any further.

Just a pointer in the right direction would help - I not looking for a free lunch!

As I cannot find the DynamicConverter documentation on their site I cannot tell how it should be installed, and therefore whether you have missed something during installation.

Please tell us what files you changed, and what changes you made, and how DynamicConverter is installed.

Is there one? All I want is borders on my main, new, featured & additional images NOT logos, buttons etc...

hi i am wondering on the header banner what pixels would that be what size to have a banner image on the top of the site also i notice some folks have banners inside the homepage where they advertise a certain product on reduced prices how do i make that type of image flash image if possible ?

problem i have is there is no cherry zen in the html_includes area thats the only issue i am having

My Contact us page has our Store name plus Address --Country --Phone placed at the top left but no area to input the data. That input area is below.
What I would like to do is remove Address / Country / Phone verbiage from that page. I looked at tools/ defines page editor and those words are not there. odd!
I also looked at define_contact_us.php and I do not see it there. any ideas?

When clicking on a product image to show the larger image the image inside the popup window is partially hidden at the bottom of the popup window frame. While the frame can be pulled down by the customer to show the entire image where can this be adjusted to show the complete image centered in the popup window frame without this extra step?

Thanks for the reply, Crunch. I suspect it's in the stylesheet.css somewhere and probably a very easy fix. I'm just not sure where it's at. I've looked but at this point it isn't that serious of an issue and I don't want to make any adjustments I'm not too sure about.

It's been a while since I worked with this template, but I experienced something similar. Looks like a stylesheet issue.

I don't remember exactly, but check carefully the settings in your stylesheet.css for the template width.

Please accept my apologies in advance if this question has been asked already, but I cannot figure out where to set up product listing on several lines.
At the moment on my site, on the main page I only see 3 products on the single line, I would like to have at least 3 lines, so visitors can see more products straight away.

if i change all instances of 165 above to 180, it moves the left column back to the top in ie6, but it pushes the left column categories outside the page to the left on the product pages.

any ideas?

Thanks for the tip, John. I'm a little reluctant to add too many mods to my store as they create too many conflicts but will give this a shot. Have seen this mod and it is cool. It will certainly eliminate the problem with the partially covered zoomed image.

Wasn't sure if I should post this in the Zen Lightbox forum or here, but seems like a template issue.

Cherry Zen template and Zen Lightbox are not behaving together.

I just installed Zen Lightbox Version 1.5 (Release Date: 2008-12-18) and there is an issue with the image displayed on the product page.

Best that I can describe it is that the image background border and text "Larger Image" is extended down vertically.

I've included two pictures below:

With Zen Lightbox installed:

I saw some threads with references to version v1.4 having issues with Cherry Zen (fixed in v1.5), but not the issue I am experiencing.

The only Cherry Zen file Zen Lightbox overwrote was /includes/templates/cherry_zen/templates/tpl_modules_main_product_image.php, so I am pretty sure the issue lies in there. I just don't know how to fix this.

Anyone using Cherry Zen v1.7 and Zen Lightbox v1.5 with this image issue?

I found post 2075 in this thread that appears to be a fix for this issue (described as an issue with shadows so I didn't catch that initially), but it was a entire file replace of tpl_modules_main_product_image.php (that ships with v1.4 of Zen Lightbox) Zen Lightbox is now at v1.5.

When comparing v1.4 of tpl_modules_main_product_image.php and v1.5 there appears to be some changes that makes we worried about doing an entire copy and paste fix for v1.4. Since I was testing anyway, I did a complete copy and paste and it actually fixed the image problem, but it created a new problem with duplicating images (described in more detail below).

Thinking this had to do with new v1.5 Zen Lightbox code in tpl_modules_main_product_image.php that was overwritten in the fix for v1.4, I looked at what the fix actually changed and applied only those specific changes to the v1.5 Zen Lightbox code and copied in only the specific changes in the fix for v1.4. It still fixed the problem, but the same issue arises with duplication of additional images.


Duplication of First Additional Image in popup gallery- side effect to the fix posted below.
When you have additional images on your product, Zen Lightbox will add a NEXT and a PREV to your main product image when you click the image to enlarge it. If you click NEXT, it duplicates the first image again. If you click next it will then go on to the actual next additional image.

If you don't have any additional images, it will still add a NEXT and a PREV to your main product image when you click the image to enlarge it. If you click NEXT, it duplicates that image again as it thinks it's an additional image (says there are 2 images in the gallery).

I can't figure out where it's duplicating the first image and thinking it's an additional image even if you don't have an additional image. Any ideas?


So, for anyone using Zen Lightbox v1.5 and Cherry Zen template v1.7 and you notice the issue on your product page with a vertically extended image border/background/shadow, the following copy and replace below will fix that.

NOTE: Again, this fixes the one problem, but has a side effect causing your first image to be considered an additional image and duplicate it when clicking through the popup gallery (even if you only have one image). Anyone know how to fix that?

I did notice one thing in FF Mac OS and WPC on the "Contact Us" page the word "Message" is slightly out of alignment, by about -3px taking a margin line from the two lines above, sorry to be picky, you've done a fab job overall and must have worked hard on this project.

I think the issue is with the name of your Cherry Zen folder as it has spaces between characters.

Your current path to stylesheets:

So I uploaded the cherry_zen folder and the same thing happened. It showed the site but no sideboxes. Then I reset the sideboxes & the site disappearded (header still there). :(

It's sad but this is the only template I really want to use but yet it is giving me issue. Can anyone think of any other solutions?

- After installing a footer mod it became centered & I don't see a fix in the footer mod files. I'm sure I can change this in my stylesheet but not sure how to code it.

I have exactly the same problem as you have described ie elongation of the product image caption and the drop shadow using Cherry Zen and Zen Lightbox. Part of the problem has been trying to find information in the forum as the problem is not easily described

I have IH2 installed and at first thought it might be something conflict in there. But by process of elimination the problem only occurs with the introduction of Lightbox. Turning Lightbox off does not assist in any way

For information I am running latest version of Zen in a test environment under Xammp - other contributions do not touch core files

It's a Cherry Zen template issue (I also recall the issue happens in the other other templates by Jade). The problem doesn't happen with other templates I tested.

The problem also happens with the other Lightboxes (I tested with Fual and also some jquery lightbox) and both exhibited the same behavior. It's something with Cherry Zen.

I actually gave up as there were no responses to my post and I was tiring of installing these lightbox mods on test copies of my site and hacking around with code. I could only get so far and my patience ran out. After thee weeks I figured the cherry zen community either could care less, found a workaround they are not wanting to share, just live with the quirk or use the old v1.4 version of Lightbox with fix (which I am pretty sure causes the duplicating image issue).

There is a message from a year ago in the Zen Lightbox forum that he had another fix in place to make Cherry Zen fully functional and it would be released in Zen Lightbox v1.6. The problem is that the original mod developer is not working on lightbox anymore hence no version 1.6.

As I originally posted, there is a fix for v1.5 and cherry zen shadow box issue, but it causes a secondary issue with duplicating images.

I chose to remove Zen Lightbox as the shadow box fix caused a duplicating image side effect and it irritated me . I actually would like to stop using Cherry Zen and customize another template, but I have too many things customized and contribution code hacked in right now and don't want the hassle of starting over with a new template.

Was anyone able to correctly get the DGreviews mod working?

To show the product reviews on the actual product page without having to click the "read reviews" button?

It seems no matter where I edit the tpl_product_info_display in cherry_zen it breaks the product page.

I have disabled my left sideboxes for all the checkout pages by adding this to includes/templates/cherry_zen/common/tpl_main_page.php

Works all well - BUT:

I still have the grey background showing on the left whilst the background of the main body is white.

Not being very savvy with stylesheets how can I invoke that the background of the LHS on these page also appears white?:unsure:

Hi,

I have just set up a 1.3.8 zen cart website with the cherry zen template. I did not upload the cherry zen tpl_product_info_display.php as per the read me file. I have gone with the default as I did not want to specify the product images width at 220 or less.

Anyway it all is working perfectly in many browser such as firefox, opera, chrome IE 7 and IE 8, but for some reason in IE6 I get the product layout going into the left sidebox and pushing all the categories down to the bottom of the page. Hi everybody.
Im trying to use 4 Column Footer Menu Mod from Clyde Jones and have a couple of problems. I know the menu_footer.css is the culprit. Clyde suggested I look here to see is anyone has experienced the same problem. A search turned up nothing.

Zen 1.38a and cherry-zen template. Url= http://www.angiejolee.com/store/

The issues are:
1. Messes up the top main navigation a bit.
2. Links in sideboxes (other than categories) are aligned left (normal) but centered in a narrower space forcing long text to wrap.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am trying to place an image in the header. I placed it in 'headerWrapper', but its shifted to the right by 5-10 pixels. I tried putting "padding:0;" right underneath of that, but nothing seems to work. Any input? Thank you.

Hello - I am using this great template with zc 1.3.8 and this afternoon I uploaded template mods for the the zencart optimization pack from zencartoptimization.com and now the sideboxes on my product info pages are gone.. I used winmerge to compare the changes in tpl_product_info and I can't find anything that would blow them out... they look fine on the categories pages. It does make some css chnages - but they are all about account creation and checkout.

This issue just crept up and I have looked through the forums but have not found an answer.

My Version of ZenCart is 1.3.8 and my template is Cherry Zen.

When viewing the home page in IE 7 the fonts for categories are huge. The internal pages look fine. In Firefox everything looks fine. Any idea of a change I can make to remedy this situation?
