I couldn't say how to set the default or inherited rights for newly created files , as my knowledge of Nix is very limited. A simple solution may lay in that area.
However, we can try to fix it in the program.
Follow these steps:

1. edit <admin>/includes/functions/extra_functions/function_image_manager.php
2. Go to line 968, which reads:

imagedestroy ($temp);

---

3. BEFORE that line, insert the following statement:

chmod($dst, 0644);

---

4. Save the file and upload it to your server

Please let me know if this fixes the problem.

Thanks for the speedy reply! Yes, it fixed part of the problem. Now the new med/lrg images have the right permissions.

Any idea how to fix the re-uploading permissions? I looked at <admin>/image_manager_upload.php but it uses a different process.

Just downloaded version 1.8. First time installation on Zencart 1.38a.
I've downloaded the zip file twice from the Zencart site, but neither contain an "install.sql" or "uninstall.sql". Maybe I'm just misreading the instructions......

No, you are right. The instructions should have read "install_zc_1.3.sql" and "uninstall_zc_1.3.sql". I will correct the instructions in the next version. Thanks for mentioning this.

I'm working on updating to zencart 1.5 and switching to image manager from image handler at the same time. There seems be a logic flaw in listing files with errors. Heres the secario to recreate: My large image size is set to 750x550. I upload an immage thats 768x1024 (portrait instead of landscape). It creates the large image at 413x550 as it should. It then lists the image as an error, presumably because its undersized width wise.

Aditionaly, on some occasions I would upload a file smaller (both height and width) than the large image size. It will not create the large image. That makes sence, but it always shows as an error, so I can't use autofix to resize the rest.

The best aproach might be to make autofix run what actions it can, but skip the actions it can't handle. It get "hung up" on images that have a height or width less than the max size.

Ok, I found the heart of my issues, and some crappy workarounds. Mabey tomorrow I will be awake enough to actualy fix them. For now, heres what I have:

lines 337-341
This code check the size of the large image agains the max medium image size. If all my images were the same proportions this would be great. Unfortunately if my max medium is 300x240 and my origional image is 600x229 I'm SOL.
What I want is a large image of 600x229, a medium of 300x114 and a small of 145x55
To hack this for now I change the || on line 341 to &&
The real way to handel this would be to compare to the actual size of the created medium image. Of course first we would have to make sure it exists and get it size, or if it doesn't exist, make sure it could resize and calculate what size it would be. Ugg.

I am aware that it's by design that both dimensions must meet the defined minima. But I can also make this an option (choice OR or AND). Or, to go to the bottom, 3 choices: height, or width, or both must meet the minimum. What do you think?

Yes, I ran the 1.5 sql, and no, there are two superusers set up, but nothing else.

Hello. I am having the same issue with the 1.5 install.
I am not seeing any links in the admin.

SQL patch went ok. Transferred files with Filezilla.

I upgraded from 1.3.8 and had IH2 running.
Any advice would be great.

Did you check if all files are uploaded properly and placed in the right folders? The structure must be copied to the admin folder, not to the webroot.

Is IM visible in the configuration menu?

If you do an update on IM, maybe, for hasty people like me, you can make the folder structure indicate that it is to go into "admin".:smile:

I had another conflict with 1.5 on a separate issue so I ended up reverting to 1.3.9h. Unfortunately I didnt get to see IM in action.

The error you see occurs when you rerun the installation script, while IM is already installed. What are you trying to do when this message appears?

I am trying to either combine copy/resize or autofix. I did not attempt to reinstall the module - it was working fine.

I'm gonna give this a whirl since neither Image Handers seem ready for JC 1.5

But I did notice one thing that I didn't see mentioned here.

I'll be uploading office chairs (and other office furniture).

Basically, there is going to be a lot of products and I wish to make it easier in the image file structure.

So ... Space Seating has sub-categories ... for example: Manager Chairs, Task Chairs, Reception Furniture, Drafting Chairs.

It is recommended to sub-categories the images folders to help with faster loading and such?

So, under the store's main images folder, so I do the sub-categorization there or do I have to do the sub-categorization under both the medium and large image folders?

That is correct. The image_manager.txt installation instructions don't mention this, however, if you look under the upgrade instructions, you will see that for 1.5 you can exclude the file includes/boxes/extra_boxes/image_manager_tools_dhtml.php from installation.

For IM, it makes no difference how you organize your pictures. For managing them, it will be easier to put them in a structure. For my webshop I group them by supplier, but you can choose any criterium that suits you.

While entering new products, just upload the large, original images from the product entry page. When done, go to IM, and let IM create the structure under /medium and /large, and copy/resize all images to the sizes for small/medium/large. IM will create the necessary folders.

You can use IM to upload additional images, or you can do it yourself by using for example an FTP program. It is necessary that you follow the ZenCart rules for naming additional images, in the wiki is an article about this. I think your example would be:

13-7N1P3 (main image)
13-7N1P3_1
13-7N1P3_2

When I go to add a new product or edit an existing one, there is no add an additional image link anywhere.

EDITED: Oh never mind! I didn't realize there was Image Manager under Tools also. DUH! And with that, I missed uploading the 2 .php files. *bangs head on desk*

Now, let's see if I can find the add additional images part ...

Hmmm that is a new issue, IM should not alter the images in any way. I have to look into this. Can you send me one or two of those (original) pictures? Please send them to info at chinesedingen dot nl.

The additional images links will appear if you use the filter on Products-ID.

Everywhere in the cart settings where it gives you the option to have additional product images ... I have set to on/yes

I got to thinking. The images are .png ones and I opened them in Photoshop and lo and behold, they backgrounds are transparent.

So, I looked and saw my #productMainImage is taking the background color from the #body.

I added a background-color: #FFF to the #productMainImage, but that hasn't solved the problem.

Either I am doing it wrong, or I need to delete the product image and try again.

I tried uninstall image manager and running the uninstall script. I then re-installed. The error still occurs. Any thoughts?

The script is working wonderfully with ZC 1.5, however when I try to do the combined copy/resize, it creates three greatly degraded images.

I had had IH3 running before I upgraded and it appears that I have removed all the IH3 files, however all of the IH3 line items are still appearing in the Configuration/Images listing. Could this be causing a problem?

Okay my mistake not removing Image Handler (IH3) BEFORE upgrading to ZC1.5.

Ended up having to remove files manually and alter database through phpmyAdmin (Cpanel), using two SQL statements from the remove_image_handler function:

(zen_configuration is the table name in the database and could have a different prefix ie: my_configuration)

Both Combined copy/resize and Autofix seem to be making the small image (600px wide and @ 150kb) small BEFORE creating the medium and large images, which is resulting in all the images being pixilated.

So am able to create "large" image, but then the option to resize the small one doesn't seem to be offered.

Just stumbled on this mod...Where the heck has this been hiding? I tripped and fell through IH2 and 3 and have been fussing around with imagemagick on my laptop for _months_. I'm really keen about sticking to the ZC standards...Anyway, thank god for this one! I sure hope this mod was included in 1.5

I originally installed this mod (2hrs ago) because I knew I had allot of LRG images missing. I was hoping I would re-upload them but my particular site doesn't really work for this feature because many of my images aren't as large as my large image setting. So within this mod I can't create large's.

Is there any way I could ask to have the re-upload forced on large like it is on small?

Actually, I guess I should explain why I'm trying to do this...I get alot of ppl who don't know how to exit the js when the LRG isn't present. I fear this will hurt sales over the long run by frustrating shoppers. So I guess perhaps a simpler solution might be to figure out a way to tell ZC if it doesn't find a LRG just use the small?! OR have a 'copy2large' link in IM for any image you already know won't be larger than the small.

I'm wondering why this mod isn't replacing the image upload section of the products add page in the first place? This would avoid even more clicks.

...just a thought.

Thanks for your hard work with this add on. I have now been able to upgrade to zencart 1.5. thanks to you. Everything seems to work quite well with maybe one exception. Should I be able to see the addtional images that I've uploaded from the admin area? I'm sorting with the image i.d., tried with and without errors, and have tested - uploading additional images works, but I can't see or delete them(both the pre-existing additional images, or the new ones) from admin. I'm assuming that I've missed something. They show up in the cart as expected.

Try to filter in IM on a product ID that certainly has additional images. What shows up now?

I still see no additional in the admin area. I'll try with a new, test product next. Is it possible this could be an upload error of one of the php files? My connection has been trouble. I'm not certain what the problem is with the two products that I used to test. They happen to both be linked and are in the same category if that matters. I'm testing in a copy of the cart with the admin area/catalog not using secure server, and I'm in a different operating system at the moment and all of the other products that I've checked seem to be working.:wacko:

No problem!
it does not matter in which category products are. In fact, IM only uses the products image info and the info of what is in the images folder.
Btw what is the filename of the image that refuses to show it's addtionals?

Yes, all autofix does, is click on the first combined copy/resize links, over and over again. If you just added 100 products, it saves you 99 clicks.

If this happens, something else is wrong. The order is:
1. copy to large, resize/watermark large
2. copy to medium, resize/watermark medium
3. resize/watermark small

Watermarking only takes place if a watermark image is in place, see the image_manager.txt file.

1. No, images can only be uploaded as small images, and from there replace the existing medium and large version of the image.

2. This is a coding issue in the front end (shop), where the images are gathered for display. As IM only acts in the back end (admin), IM cannot fix this.

That is by design. When I started developing IM, I decided to make it an add-on (only additional code files) instead of an add-in (altering existing code). Basically IM is meant to maintain existing images, although later a link was added to upload new additional images. This was done because this function is not present in ZC.

However, I'll keep your suggestion in mind, thanks!

I posted here a question about re-uploading images to LRG that are not actually LRG. In a nutshell, many of my images are quite small and so they never actually need resizing from LRG, MED to small. Nevertheless, I need those images in place because people get stuck not realizing they can hit ESC to exit when there is no larger image view available.

My problem is that I can't apply a blanket solution in that there are many images that do have larger LRG files attached. I have no problem combining through IM, clicking upload and attaching a new "small" image to LRG. however, it's almost impossible to accomplish this task without IM. so far, I've done a 'diff folderA folderB' but the list is painfully long.

hopefully this makes more sense to you then it does when I reread myself ;)

Do I understand correctly that in fact you want to use the same size image for small, medium and large, if only a small size original image is at hand?

In that case you may fool IM by setting the config values for medium and large images to the same values as small images. See image_manager.txt how to do this. IM should consider the image large enough to copy it to medium and large, et voila.
I didn't test this myself, but there is a good chance it will work.
And don't forget to put the old config values back to their original values when you're finished :smile:

Yes...Well, hm. Sort of. I need to do this _only_ for products which are _missing_ LRG images. A bit of background may be in order here...I wrote a slapstick script that incorporated imagemagick's mogrify and then ftp'd the results to my images folder. Somehow(not that surprising since I can't actually write scripts ! :)), the images that didn't get resized to smaller ratios didn't get uploaded. I'm guessing it's because they weren't 'touched'. Anyway...the result is that I'm missing TONS of LRG images. Almost all of which are images that would not have a larger size. Hence them not being touched by my script. Even if they did have larger originals, I have enough product turn-around not to care if the image isn't actually larger when the customer requests it. The script was a one time thing to get me started when we first added product (I had ~1,000+ images to handle in one go).

I just need to avoid that dreaded loop they don't understand how to exit from.

So...If I implement your suggestion(which I think I understand) will IM still know there is a missing LRG?

Yes, IM will.
Best you can do is try this with one image, that will take no more than 5 minutes.
Keep in mind, that altering the config values will NOT make IM change all existing images. Unless you tell it to of course.

Another option is to change the ZC code. In includes/modules/main_product_image.php, the variables containing the different size image names are built. You could add an 'if', checking if the large image file exists, and if not, use the small image file instead. Can be done in one line of code.

I just tried and removed a large image, and ZC displayed the medium instead. Just like it should.

What JS do you have for displaying the large images?

As far as I know, I'm using the stock ZC function to display the larger image. Someone once told me it was a javascript function.

I don't suppose you'd know how I could double check that?

Should I be looking in my js folder or the php file that calls the function?

Just reporting a few things back...

i) Possible bug:
I had deleted the uploads folder a while back just to keep things as clean and secure as possible and as it turns out IM doesn't like this. Even-though I specified a folder _other than the uploads folder_ & IM acknowledged said folder and stated the rights were correct IM would not re-upload until I created a images/uploads/ folder. FYI I'm still using an alternate folder for temp. but now that the uploads/ folder exists I no longer get any errors and the image is re-uploaded.

ii) The suggested method of changing the Maximum Large Image Width/Height in the config to match the small image sizes and re-uploading in the hopes IM will add the image as LRG as well doesn't work. I don't get any errors but IM still shows it as "missing".

Also, on a somewhat unrelated note, I'd like to suggest the ability to rename file extensions. That would be awesome. From my perspective this would be nice because many files were uploaded as .jpeg instead of .jpg. In trying to maintain consistency throughout my site, I've been diligently renaming these. But it's somewhat painful to do. If IM could do this it'd be great!

Now that I think of it, would it not be simpler to just add a upload link when a large is deemed "missing"?

I think the problem with the workaround of changing the config to the small size is that 1) IM complains it's less than that of the admin setting(dunno if that is actually a factor) and 2) if the image size is different in height or in width you can't accommodate that. ie I think in many cases product images are not square. In my case almost none are...Since IM doesn't like a setting of 0 for height or width it will never ask to "use small" if one of the dimensions is under the value set.

Originally, I was uploading .png images and was having background color problems. That got sorted and continued to upload the transparent background .png photos for the products.

There are 3 product images per product (different views). All the images are the same original size: 300 x 450

When creating the product, I upload the first image as per usual. Then I go to Image Manager and:

1) Copy from Small for Large and Medium sizes.
2) "SHRINK" the small image.

3) Add in the additional 2nd and 3rd product images.
4) Copy from Small for Large and Medium sizes.
5) Combined replace/resize for the small image.

If I accidentally do Combined replace/resize for the first image, the Large version of the image is fuzzy. That does not happen for the 2nd and 3rd additional images. I do not know why the first image's "small" needs to be treated differently than the 2 additional image's "small".

Now, to try and correct the fuzzy large image, I wipe out ALL 3 product images for that particular product and delete manually those product images via FTP. Then I go back into editing the product and upload the first product image. Then go back to IM to do the process all over again, this time correctly doing "shrink" on the first image's "small" .... however, this does not correct the issue. It's almost as if IM keeps a memory. No matter what I do, I can't fix the problem on those images.

Any suggestions?

What strikes me, is that the popup link for the additional images is different from that of the main image. The additional image links explicitly point to the large image, while the main image link does not. So I'm not sure that the large image of the main picture actually is displayed in the popup.

I'm getting convinced that all the time, we try to make a work around in IM for a disfunction somewhere else. ZC by default fixes missing large and even medium size images by adjusting the filename to a file that is present, with a lower resolution. Apparantly, darkbox doesn't make use of this ability. So I think the problem is there.
From the JS I cannot read (which may be my lack of knowledge of JS) what image name is passed to the script. Likely that is in the PHP code of the page.

I'm not sure how to do that. In any case it will affect the products information, which mentiones the filename of the image. Furthermore, I don't want to introduce an open rename method that enables you to rename anything to anything. So what rules should apply to a rename action?

Ok ... so ... what do I do?

I haven't altered any of the image links in regards to customizing ZC, other than whatever your addon alters. So I don't know why the popup link would be different than what it should be.

Right now, I'm replacing the Monthly Specials products as it is a new month, thus new products on special.

The first product I changed was the Laminate Conference Table and the popup image is fuzzy. And that was after completely deleting the original (previous product's) image and uploading the new product's image.

Just to clarify, I do not have a problem when uploading a product pic for the first time. But if I have to replace a product pic, that is when I have a problem with the fuzziness factor.

Have vs 1.9 installed (ZenCart 1.5 store) and all works well but I have no "Delete File" option for resized Large images. I do notice that the Large image dimensions remain in red even after correctly resizing and Medium images (with delete option) are in black. Any ideas on why I have no Delete option for my Large images?

OK, just needed to get one of my original images with the txt extension, and changing it back to a jpg corrupted the image. Seems to happen with every transition from txt to jpg extension, but did not happen with the former bak extension. Is there a safe way to convert the txt back to a jpg, or is the change to a txt file for backup just always going to result in a corrupt image?

I've been messing around with various photo editing programs for days, trying to master batch processing etc. etc. etc. - this addon is exactly what I've been looking for (and more!) Although, I do have one small issue with the "Autofix" feature: the issue is essentially the same one that mutinyzoo mentioned here, except it's only happening with the "Autofix" feature. Clicking the "Combined replace/resize" button manually on an individual basis works as expected. I'm using Image Manager 1.9 on Zen Cart 1.5.1 with PHP 5.3.13.

To be honest I'm quite happy to click the "Combined replace/resize" for each image as I only have a few hundred total images, but I just wanted to make you aware of the issue and get any feedback from you if possible.

Simply trying to removed unused (products no longer active) images from my server. Is this the correct Add - on. I use 1.5.1 I have 18K products and 100K images. Something is wrong and I need to get rid of some images that apparently should not be on the server.

Running ZC 1.5.0 and Image Manager 1.9 . Thought when I look at it on the control panel in admin it says it is version 1.7 which is confusing. I confirmed that the download said it was v1.9 . Anyway according to my client that is using the plugin he selects the following options:
All images
not attached
with errors

These options show him every image in the directory including category images and product images still in use.

Any idea why this would be happening?

My install is zc 1.5.0, php 5 & mysql 5, using IM 1.9 even though it says 1.7 in admin is this right? My install is in a sub folder and my pics reside in /images/large/gifs/ folder. I dont use small or medium pics, the main reason for install was the watermark and tidy up utilities :) All seemed to install ok, i can view unattached files ok but when i go to view attached files which in my test site which i only have about 100 pics, i get the error message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 73400320 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 80 bytes) in /mnt/vol1/home/h/i/*****/public_html/zen*****/adm****/includes/functions/extra_functions/function_image_manager.php on line 140

which i believe from previous posts that its a server memory error ? but should this do this with only 100 large pics? they are sized 500 x various.

When IM installed it created the folders listed below is this right?

If i view one pic by product id it shows ok with all links, but even thought its in the large/gifs/ folder its showing as a small image saying med & large images are missing? In admin under configuration/Image manager there is a setting for additional images. The setting if for inserting additional images for your product when you turn it on like down below.

I found a small problem that had to be resolved for my purposes, maybe this can help you all and Boudewijn maybe you can add it to the next version if you think it is an improvement.
First I'll mention that on this specific website I am using 1.3.9h and IM 1.9.

My problem was that when there is no large image and the original image is smaller than the Maximum definition for large images on the IM settings, the large image that is being created is according to the Maximum definitions and in this case where the original is smaller it is actually not necessary and I prefer that it will take the properties from the original image for Large and shrink for Small/Medium.

What's the status of this mod? Looks like you get a duplicate parameter error in admin/includes/functions/extra_functions/function_image_manager.php line 89 in more recent versions of PHP.

I've got Image Manager 2.1 running on 1.57c...
