Does that make it a bit clearer?
That does help a lot. I was hoping for a way to sell and use gift certificates without requiring accounts using Fast and Easy Checkout. Looks like I'll have to tell customers that making an account is required to use gift certificates. It'll be a minor headache, but I really don't think there is away around it without recoding how gift certificates work.:lamo:

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I am just testing and sent couple of GCs from admin.
How do I remove these from "Gift Voucher's Sent" and
where do I change/modify wording of that email that is sent when admin sends GC/

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I'm using version 1.39b and I've set up the gift certificates properly. I ran a test purchase and it worked perfectly. When I go into the gift queue and release the certificate, I'm sent an email but the redemption code is not there. And, there is no entry in the coupon_email_track table. And, I it does not appear in the gift certificates sent section. Any ideas?
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
When Gift Certificates are purchased ... and then released ... there is no redeem code in the email as the Gift Certificates are "released" and the amount added to the Customer's Gift Certificate Balance ...

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Thanks so much for your quick reply! I appreciate it so much! That makes sense to me. And, I'm guessing that's why it doesn't also appear in the gift certificates sent area, right? You rock!

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I have seen this touched on by others who appear to, but not fully addressed:
The Gift Certificate FAQ page How to Send Gift Certificates says "To send a Gift Certificate you need to go to our Send Gift Certificate Page. You can find the link to this page in the Shopping Cart Box in the right hand column of each page."
I find the link to send a gift certificate appears on several pages when logged in with a GV balance. And for a new purchase the link appears at step 4 of the checkout process, confirming the buyer's payment. But the link is not appearing on the shopping cart page nor any of the checkout pages prior to step 4 (even when logged in to an account with a GV balance).
The language of the FAQ leads me to expect the box to appear on the Shopping Cart page and each page in the checkout process. Do I misunderstand? Is my site working correctly? I have seen another ZC site that appears to be behaving the same as mine.
I have addressed this by revising the language in the FAQ to say "The link to this page will appear in the right hand column of the final page in the check out process, after you have submitted your payment. If you do not immediately send the Gift Certificate a link to send it will appear on your My Account page." But I would like to see it work the way the original language suggests. I think I would sell more gift certificates if the customer is able to complete the steps needed to send it to the recipient before they give me their money.
Suggestions for a fix or revision would be welcome.
My ZC is v1.3.9e, my website is http://www.clarifyartwear.com/
Thank you.

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I've searched for awhile but haven't come across the answers.
If a gift cert is purchased (set to queue for release), will it release automatically if the customer pays with paypal, or other immediately authorized payment method?
If downloadable product is purchased, will it release automatically if the customer pays with paypal, or other immediately authorized payment method?
If not on either question, would this be something that will be included in ZC 2.0?
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Gift Certificates are either sent to the queue to ensure payment by the Admin or not ... this is not based on the Payment module ...
Downloads, on the other hand, are based on the Order Status in the Payment Module ...
By default, PayPal sets the Order Status for immediate release of Downloads ...
Other Payment modules can be adjusted per Payment module where Orders Status (orders_status) of >= 2 or <= 4 will be immediately released ...
By default, the Order Status values are:
Pending 1
Processing 2
Delivered 3
Updated 4

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Quote:

ZC will wait until PayPal returns successful payment notification (IPN?), at PayPal, before changing status to 2? In other words, the payment at PayPal has to be successful in order for the customer to download the product?
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Yes, when the Payment via PayPal is successful the default settings will set the Order to orders_status 2 for Processing and the Downloads will be available ...

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Using Zencart 1.3.9f. I want to be able to sell a gift certificate for $50, but have it's value be $75. I've seen this on other zencart sites but I don't know how they set up the product. Any thoughts?

Hello,
Using 1.3.8a, trying to access Gift Certificate/Coupons/ Mail Gift Certificate. It should list 1 gift certificate, however I get blank results after a few moments. Any ideas why this is happening?

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I didn't bother to read the entire 21 previous pages of post since my head is spinning. I am having a little problem and maybe i caused it myself, i dont know.
One customer purchased a Gift Certificate for $12 (so 12 x $1 GC)
I went in the Gift Certficate Queue where i remember seeing one to be released.
I clicked on Release Gift certificate (whatever was the exact wording) and i got a message that it was fine.
Now the customer emails me because she got the email saying this:
Quote:
Dear S
You recently purchased a Gift Certificate from our online store.
For security reasons this was not made immediately available to you. However, this amount has now been released. You may now visit our store and send the value of the Gift Certificate via email to someone else, or use it yourself.
The Gift Certificate(s) you purchased are worth $12.00
$12.00
Now, the instructions for GC is that there is supposed to be a code yet, there is nothing in this email that looks remotely like a code to me (or to her).
I checked the Gift Certificate Queue, and there is nothing in there.
I checked the Gift Certificate Sent, and hers is NOT in there either.
I checked her invoice and it shows as delivered (she had initially other products in the same purchase).
Did i miss something? Did it disappear in thin air? I cannot see anywhere the GV that was issued, so maybe i deleted accidentally instead of doing what was supposed to be done? Please help!
The customer also tried to purchase something, hoping the amount would be deducted from her purchase and it didn't show any reduction. Maybe she was supposed to do something else? or me?

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
When a Gift Certificate is purchased as a Product, the GV is placed in the GV Queue ...
This amount is then released by the Admin when the funds for this purchase have been confirmed ...
The amount released is immediately added to the customer's GV Balance ... there isn't a redemption code on this transaction ...
Only when a Gift Certificate is Sent from the Admin or from one Customer to another Customer is there a redemption code ...
That redemption code can be claimed via:
1 the email link
2 the GV FAQ
3 the checkout_payment page
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
(Doh! Linda beat me to the answer as I was typing)
Cassel,
The 'code' that customers get is for redeeming a GV after someone sends someone else money via a GV, or after you send a customer a GV (such as a complimentary GV from the store owner).
The person you sold one to does not have to redeem the GV -- it's ready to use right now, or for the customer to send part or all of it to someone else.
make more sense now?

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Shoudl this customer have seen the reduction in her cart at checkout?
Is there a way to "recover" this GV on my part to RE-issue it?
Is there a way to cancel it, and reissue a new one?
Right now, it seems to be in thin air as nobody seems to be able to use it.
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
It gets a little messy when the customer doesn't enter the amount of available GV funds, on page 2 of checkout, that is supposed to apply to the present order. If your customer didn't do that, then she still has 12 bucks of GV money. One way to handle it is to not charge her $12 of that merchandise, i.e., if she paid w/ PayPal send her $12 back AND then have her send (gift) her $12 of GV funds to your own e-mail address. She would then be square money-wise, and you could just ignore the $12 that she gifts to your e-mail address. There is probably a way of then deleting that $12 gift that you get -- I don't remember. It's been a while since I experimented with it.
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Somehow, either i am thick or something does not add up. This customer TRIED to put something in her cart, thinking the money was going to be there, and she said it didn't apply to her purchase. And then, how would she be able to send me the GV funds?
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
okay, so she bought GV funds? Then picked out some merchandise? Then she paid for the merchandise, without using her GV funds?
If so, then she had money in her GV account (her GV money balance) and on page 2 of checkout she would have manually had to enter the amount of GV funds to apply to that merchandise order. If she did not do that on page 2, but went ahead and paid for the merchandise, such as with PayPal or money order in mail, then you can send her $12 back, such as through PayPal, and she can send you the $12 that is currently sitting in her GV balance.
She can see her GV balance on the Gift Cert FAQ page and then she can send you that $12 by following the instructions -- she just would enter your e-mail address in a form and hit Send. Then, you just ignore that $12 she sends you.

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Ok. i guess i was not clear. The custome bought for $30 initially INCLUDING a $12 GV. Since she was not getting a code, i guess she thought it was in her account (and i can see now that it IS). She put some things in her cart and didn't see any discount at checkout. Maybe she was supposed to do something else that she didn't do, i dunno. So she abandonned her cart and emailed me.
Now, she likely didn't enter that GV value on page 2 of the checkout, however, on page 2, there is only a place for Redemption CODE, not amount. I wonder if that is not what confuses the customer (and me)? Shoudl she put the amount the box for the CODE?
Just in case i am not clear (it is almost 2am now!), you can check my checkout http://creationcassel.com/store (i had some modules installed, maybe it messed something else?)
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
One thing,
If she initially purchased the GV AND the merchandise, at the same time, then of course the GV would not have been available right then for her to spend on the merchandise, because you have to RELEASE the GV to her after you make sure you are going to get paid. So, in that case, of course she had to pay for the merchandise straight away, but she now should have $12 sitting in her GV balance, and, if she insists on using the $12 for that particular merchandise, then you and she can still take care of it with the steps above. It does seem pretty crazy that someone would spend, say, $12 on a GV at the exact same time as spending $12 on merchandise, and then want to apply the $12 of GV funds to cover the merchandise at that exact same time. That seems wacko to me..

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Hi,
I get it ...
To clarify, the place on page 2 of checkout, to put the amount of GV funds to apply to the order, will only appear to her, because only she has GV money sitting in a GV balance. That 'apply GV money' box is not seen by anyone else, so you can't see it when you test page 2 yourself, unless of course you personally have a GV balance. See attached image.
So, you could follow the solution above with swapping money from you to her in exchange for her GV money from her to you, or she could buy more stuff from you and spend the GV money then. :)

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Ohhhhhhhh.... ok. (wish those info were accompanied with screenshots in the tutorial section!)
Sending that info to the customer now.
However, i guess i will be out $12 now, since i cannot remove it from her, after re-issueing one for her friend (she had given me her email address). Oh well, lesson learned!
Lucky for me, GV are not frequent!
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
yeah, you can't yank it out of her hands, so to speak, but if you simply 'gave' $12 to her friend because the original shopper failed to do something obvious on page 2, then you could ask original shopper to e-mail her GV balance to you via GV Send feature. Then, it will be as though the original shopper gifted that 12 bucks to the friend, and everyone would be square money-wise.
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Now, customer just used that GV (with my suggestion so her level of frustration will go down!) so that is solved.
Next time CustomerA buys a GV for FriendB, how should i handle it so she gets a code to email a friend as i surely did something wrong here. Do i release it just like that? Or should i send more explicit instructions on how CustomerA should send the "money" to FriendB?
(it is kind of obscure!)
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
it's easier than that. If shopper A buys a GV, then uses the GV Send feature to send it to a friend B, the friend B will get the redeem code when B gets the e-mail about being the recipient of a wonderful gift cert. You don't have to do anything. B will then go to your store and redeem the GV by using the code, then B will have a GV balance. The only hitch is if B does the redeeming on page 2 of checkout. The next page will be page 3, and no GV funds are automatically applied (since a shopper may or may not want to use GV funds when redeeming GV certs), so if that happens, friend B, while sitting on page 3, would have to have the wherewithal to return to page 2 to enter the amount to apply. This is a common problem with landing someone on page 3 after redemption occurs on page 2. The Zen team may be looking at a better way of letting the page 3 customer know to go back to page 2, or you could code in a short note at the top of page 3 "if you want to spend GV funds you just redeemed, then go back to page 2" or something like that.

Do you mean i should not have to "release" anything or is that AFTER i release it?
(i think i will definitely email detailed instructions to the purchaser next time!)
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
yes, you will still have to release to shopper A buyer, of course, I skipped that part because I thought we had covered that ground. :)
You just won't have to do anything about friend B .. B will get the redeem code and should be able to handle her shopping from there. But as I mentioned, there is room for B to make errors, just like your shopper did tonight.
It's really a pretty good system, when the shopper pays attention to what is happening.
(you should take that text off your page about a buyer needing to e-mail the GV funds to herself if she wants to use them herself; that is not true -- she can use them straight away after you release, i.e., after you get paid.)

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
You need to put the price somewhere ...
The Product should be:
Priced by Attribute YES
with the Product Price:
0.00
Then the Attributes are made from the Option Name and Option Value ...
the Option Value is just a text .... it is not a price of the Gift Certificate but a text description of the Option Value of what the Price is ... and that Price is put on the individual Attributes in the Price input box that you have circled ...

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I am trying to use gift certificates ONLY as credit notes. I find I can do this simply by going to the admin page and emailing the certificate. My problem is that if there is only PART usage of a cerificate I lose access to the balance as it reports as redeemed. How can you part use a certificate? I also cannot email the balance because it says it is redeemed.

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
How does one get an email when a gift certificate is purchased? When merchandise is purchased, an email is sent to me stating as much. But when a gift certificate is purchased, I am not notified so I don't know to release the GC. Since this site is not as active as some other sites I have, I go on it two or three times a week. Hate to have someone wait a day or two to have the GC released. Thankie!!

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I am trying to create a discount coupon to allow certain very good customers to purchase just gift certificates at a discounted rate - Is this possible??
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
By design, the purchase of a Gift Certificates cannot use Discount Coupons ...
You could make a regular Product, that does not use the products_module starting with:
GIFT
and have the Discount Coupon made for this one Product with a 1 use per customer and 1 use total ...
Then set the Restriction on the Discount Coupon to only allow this one Product ...
Once Purchased, you can then mail the Customer a Gift Certificate from the Admin for the amount that you wanted them to get it for ...
Then, when they redeem the Gift Certificate they will have the full amount that you intended ...

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I am using 1.3.9 zen cart. i have 4 gift certificates being sold on my site. testing was smooth. but here is real deal: customer purchased 100 doll gift certificate, i got it in gift certificate queue, ,i clicked button to release it, confirmed it, then i went to section Gift Voucher's Sent, and no info appeared there, and nothing left in queue. Now how can i know, if customer got his gift certificate, and how i will have it in my Gift Voucher's Sent page? Do i need to go and manually send this to him?
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Gift Certificates that are purchased then released put a balance in the Customer's account ...
Go to your Admin and look up your customer and you will see a balance on their account once the GV has been released to them ...
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Tahnks for the respond. yes i do see it approved in customer's account. but why i don't see it in "gift certificate sent" area, i dont see it or its generated code, like i see for other 3 gift certificates. will it appear in "gift certificate sent" once customer will send it to someone?
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
You did not "send" the GV and neither did someone else ... the customer "bought" the GV so it is either in the GV Queue ... or you "release" it and it is now in the Customer's Balance ...
If you had EMAILED the GV to the customer or the Customer sends some of their balance to someone else ... then you will see it in the Gift Certificate/Coupons ... Gift Certificates sent ...
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
thank you so much for explanation. so there is no way to track the purchased GV ?
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Once a GV is purchased ... the amount is added to the Customer Balance, when released ...
Once a GV is sent to a Customer via the Admin ... the amount is added to the Customer Balance, when redeemed ...
Once a GV is sent from a Customer with a balance to a friend ... the amount sent is removed from the Customer Balance ...
Once a GV Balance is used to pay for an Order ... the GV amount used is removed from the Customer Balance ...
But the problem is, the amount of the specific GV cannot be tracked as it is "Cash" ...
On Gift Certificates that are purchased in an Order by the Customer ... you will see the original GV in the table:
coupon_gv_queue
Before the GV is released from the Queue, the release_flag is N, and after being released from the Queue, the release_flag is Y ...
Now all transfers of the Customer's GV Balance can be tracked in the coupons and coupon_email_track ...
Now the person who redeems the GV redeep code on the amount sent from a friend will show in the coupons as no longer available to be redeemed and in the coupon_redeem_track of being redeemed by what address and in the coupon_gv_customer as being added to the Customer GV Balance ...
In your Admin, you will see a lot of this information ...
However, some information, while available in the database tables, cannot be seen from the Admin ... example: GV Queued info only shows when you have GVs queued for release ... not old ones already released ...
You could probably write something to try to manage tracking the sources of the credits to the Customer Balance and the debits from the Customer Balance ... but it will not tell you what specific GV amount came from what ...
The customer that bought the GV from you ... now you see in the Customer account their balance ...
As they send it to friends you will see:
1 their balance go down
2 GV Sent will show they emailed to someone an amount(s)
Customers who spend their GVs on Orders you will see references in the Orders, but again do not know the source of the funds that made up the total amount as it could of been several GVs from friends, GVs that they bought, GVs sent by the Admin ... once the GV was converted to Cash in their GV Balance, you lose the specifics ...
Kind of like at a bank where you make all kinds of transactions to build up your balance and transactions to spend your balance but you don't know specifically which penny came from where and went where ...
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I can't find an answer to this in this thread but need help. My customer bought 2 gift certs and says he did not get the email with the codes. Is there any way to get the codes through admin? I can't find any mention of the certs once they are released. Could my customer just log in and email them back to himself? Thanks!
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
If the Customer bought the Gift Certificates, then you released them, there are no GV redemption codes ...
Go to Customers and look up the customer ... do you see a Balance in their account?
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
The customer account shows the certs available to use or email. He wants to give them as a retirement gift and print out something to give the recipient. Perhaps the only way is to email them from his account which is less exciting than being able to hand them an envelope for their retirement party with the certs. I though he just needed the codes and could write them down on a made up paper cert to give.
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
He could send the GVs to you in the amount he wants to give which generates a redemption code and you can give the codes to him ...
Just do not redeem his codes ...

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Couldn't he just email them to himself and that would force the generation of the codes also?

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please

I created an account and ordered a GV ...
That was then released from the GV Queue so I had a GV Balance of $10.00 ...
I sent $2.00 to another email address ...
That send an email to that new email address and I clicked the link to redeem the GV and created an account and the GV for $2.00 was added to my new account without a problem ...
I cannot reproduce any errors on this ...
Check the GV that the Customer sent the GV to and see if the GV has been redeemed or not ...

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Sorry Linda, but I could not go any further once it told me my account was created when I tried to redeem the gc from the link. It said I created a new account but when I hit continue it went right back to the page like you see in the image above in my other post.
Did you try to go further once it told you the account was created by clicking on the continue button?

are you checking out without account or did you create account first and then purchase the gift cert to send out?? Hopefully this will help me narrow it down if different browser doesn't do the trick.
Nevermind...I see you tried both

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I made an account for the checkout when I bought the GV ...
Then I sent some of the GV balance to another email address ...
I then received an email with a link to redeem the GV and clicked on the link in the email to redeem it ...
That told me to create an account ...
I created the account and it added the GV to my balance in the new account ...

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Linda,
It's not a browser issue. I still cannot go any further than creating account...hit continue...then I'm told I need to create account again.

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
No, this did not work. Not only did it not work on the test but my GV balance doubled from $5.00 to $10.00
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I really cannot say why you are getting the incorrect amount for the Gift Certificate ...
You will probably need to get someone who works with Zen Cart code and see what your site is doing to cause this to happen ...

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I am running 2 sites, both v1.3.8 (I think - I get blank screens when I ask for the version in Admin, and the sites were set up by different people).
The gift certificates were working when I set them up, but I have never sold one.
I have just looked at my sites online and the gift certificate page is blank.
I have recently added the modules CEON URI mapping and Sitemap XML. Could there be a conflict with one of these?
My websites are http://www.mercuryrisingbooks.com and http://www.tarotandoraclecards.com

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
What happens if you turn off the SEO/rewrites ... do they start working?
NOTE: you should really upgrade to at least v1.3.9 if not 1.5 for bug issues, security issues etc.
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Yes! Gift certificates work when Ceon URI mapping is turned off.
Do gift vouchers work on a completely different basis to other shop items?
And do you know how to get both to work at once?
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Afraid I cannot help you there I do not use any SEO/re-writes ... perhaps someone who does can jump in here and help you further ...

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Hey
I have the gift cert thing set up flawlessly and have for a while. Only I ran accross a problem today that I'm not sure how to deal with.
I had a customer buy a gift cert but to put money towards an item her friend wanted to buy from me at my physical stall. (she bought the cert before I said not to use the certs on site for real world purchases) now it wants me to relase it (as it should) but I don't want the funds to go into that customers account.. as they have already been used.
How can I not release a gift cert? I tried deleting the order.. but it didn't delete the gift cert.

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Using phpMyAdmin, browse your database table:
coupon_gv_queue
and find the GV for the customer and you need to mark the:
release_flag
as X
What this does in keep a record of the GV but not release it to the customer ... now it will not show but if you need to reference it you can see it in the database and in your Admin under the GVs sent ... it will show as not redeemed ...
If you do not want this record of this transaction at all, you can delete it from the:
coupon_gv_queue

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Using Zen Car v1.3.9h. Customer purchased gift certificate, but it doesn't appear in the gift queue. Looking at the database table - coupon_gv_queue, the release_flag shows "Y".
he customer says she doesn't have it. How can I tell if it was sent to the customer??
Thanks, ROland

Really need a way to reject Gift Certificates without editing database directly
I've found various comments and threads regarding this, but I wanted to chime in and request that an option to reject/cancel gift certificates be added to the gift certificate functionality. I've seen some of the previously listed reasons for not having that function available, but as the person managing the store, it is really making things difficult especially for this time of year. I get a fairly large number of people attempting to use stolen credit cards in my store because of the types of items I carry. My fraud filters with PayPal do a pretty good job catching them, but they aren't perfect.
Gift certificates are a common target, as the buyer can enter the actual billing address for the card user, but not worry if the shipping address is correct. This makes it more likely that the purchase will clear the fraud filters. I usually still catch the fraudulent purchases because I just know what to look for, but then I'm stuck with a gift certificate sitting in the queue even if I cancel and refund the original purchase. This has happened when a customer changed their mind as well, and it seems like a lot of extra work that could be solved by simply adding a "reject" button. To me, it's just like any other product that can be canceled. I understand that the gift certificate can be used like money once it's approved, but prior to that it's not any different than any other product.
I really appreciate what the developers have done regarding Zen Cart, but for me it would save a lot of trouble if I had a way to reject the gift certificates. It seems that if I have an option to accept them in the first place, logic would say that I should be able to NOT accept them too!
Thanks!
Tim

Re: Really need a way to reject Gift Certificates without editing database directly
Hi all,
We have Gift Certificates on our store, we had no problem setting them as the walkthru is super easy.
What (if anything) will happen if I add a Manufacturer to the currently empty "Manufacturer" field?
I need to add one in as our store reports are based around the ManID information.
Cheers.

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Please help:
I have been able to set up the GC correctly and triple checked that all of the setting are in place, the issue is that when I attempt to email either all or part of the credit amount, the error message Whoops: unable to process ....... is returned. has anyone else experienced this, and if so how did you correct it??????

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Hi,
Already tried to search for this issue, but couldn't find anything.
I got the GV set-up, customers can buy, he can send the amount (after approval) to another customer. All working fine.
Only when the customer pays with the GV the amount DOES get deducted from the order total, but DOES NOT get deducted from the GV amount itself. (It goes "evergreen").
Anyone here that can point me in the right direction? (I know some coding)
Thanks in advance.
(Running multisite ZC 1.50, upgraded by hand from 1.3.8 (2 years ago?), now running multisite and some other customisations (EU VAT & PDF Invoice would be the main "payment" mods. This is the first time I use the GV module, this mod is freshly installed)

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Hi!
I have searched and searched and can't find an answer to my gift certificate problem. I have installed it and tested it on my site and everything works perfect except when I try to "send" it to someone else it gives me this, WHOOPS! SORRY, BUT YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PERFORM THE ACTION REQUESTED. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? My website is TanaAnns.com
Thank you!!!!

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Using 1.5.1 and have gift certificates as a product - this works fine but (and this just started) if I send a gift certificate via email to a customer, it sends correctly but does not appear in their queue. Any suggestions?
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
What do you mean by the Gift Certificate:
Quote:
it sends correctly but does not appear in their queue
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Admin->Gift Certificates/Coupons->Mail Gift Certificate
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
In that list are just the emails for customers who are Registered. Anything else would need to be manually typed in to send a Gift Certificate ...
So that dropdown of emails is really not a queue at all, it is just there to help you for convenience ...
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
sorry, when a gift certificate is emailed, it should appear in the column GV Balance column in the Customers area of the admin. the last time it worked properly was in December of 2014. We have been using this method for the past 3 years.
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I have also manually entered the email address but the gift certificate still does not register.
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
When a Gift Certificate is mailed, the Gift Certificate has to be redeemed either in the Checkout or on the Gift Certificate Redeem page ... it is not automatically applied to the customer's account until then ...
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Yes, my mistake! it goes into that column when redeemed via the link in the email.
-
Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Thanks for the update that this is working correctly for you ...

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
I am having the same problem as the first question on this forum. When a customer places an order for the gift certificate, it never shows up in the gift certificate queue to be "released". I tried a dummy transaction as well, and had the same problem. I tried everything, looked for everything. I must be missing something somewhere, because I just can't figure it out.

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Are you talking about Gift Certificates that are purchased in the store?
If so, do their Model begin with:
GIFT
If the Modules ... Order Totals ... if you edit the Gift Certificate gv_coupon is the setting:
Quote:
Queue Purchases
Do you want to queue purchases of the Gift Voucher?
true
set correctly?

Re: Gift Certificate Help Please
Is there a line of code(probably several) that can be added so on the checkout page when a gift certificate is applied and the page refreshes that it will show in the order summary that it has been applied and the remaining amount that is due. I keep getting emails from customers who think the gift certificate isn't getting applied.
So on a $20 order with a $10 gift certificate the order summary might look like this before the gift certificate is applied.
Item $10.00
Subtotal $10.00
Shipping $ 1.00
tax $ 1.00
Total $22.00
Then apply the $10.00 gift certificate and the display changes to
Item $10.00
Subtotal $10.00
Shipping $ 1.00
tax $ 1.00
Total $22.00
Gift C -$10.00
Due $12.00
Thank you for your help.
