Yes and No!
The 2 examples shown use 2 different headers
"Ariel Bedroom Set" and "Cube Bedroom Set"
As they use different headers then yes you need 2 tables to do this
and if you are going to have 50 different headers then yes you will need 50 tables.
BUT if you were to use a more generic header for all of them
such as "Matching Bedroom Set"
You already have the name of the set further up the page displayed boldly
Then you would need ONLY one table to do them all
I still believe you don't quite understand that.
Each set would be isolated strictly to that set ONLY!!!
The sets do NOT get mixed up using one table.
If you were starting from scratch using one table
For the first set you would enter the following Id's into the cross sell
275,271,270,269,273,430,431
then click "insert"
For the second set you would enter the following Id's into the same cross sell
265,470,471,260,264,262,259
then click "insert"
You will now have the same as what you have but with the one same header for both.
You can do all 50 sets like this if you wish into the same one table.
btw: there will probably be a performance hit searching 50 tables at a time
imo: One table is far more efficient with the low number of items that you cross selling
Re: Multi Cross Sell mod [Support thread]
ah ha!
i wasnt aware that you could insert more than one set of id's into one specific cross sell!
thanks for your help!

I suspected that...
It takes a while using it to get your head around how it actually works
I will definitely have to improve the documentation with this mod!
Re: Multi Cross Sell mod [Support thread]
gilby,
I've read this entire thread from end to end. I've also installed and uninstalled both Multi Cross Sell and Cross Sell Advanced Multi Cross Sell. Both allowed me to input cross sells and gave me the ability to view each. My problem is, we will have over 10,000 products in our site. To add that many cross sells will talk a "month of sundays". Is there any other way of inputting cross sells for this many items in a shorter amount of time.
I also have another question. When I did have either of these installed, I was able to input a cross sell for 3 items resulting in 12 cross sells. This worked perfectly. When I went to add an additional cross sell for different items, these new items were set as cross sells of the first set.
What did I do wrong possibly?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Multi Cross Sell mod [Support thread] Not displaying correclty in IE
I have installed Multi Cross Sell and it seems to be working fine except for how it displays in IE. (see images below).
I cannot seem to figure A) what is happening or B) how to fix it.
The URL for the item is here: http://www.abacuspub.com/shop/index....roducts_id=170
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

The padding appears to be wrong in the others!
It would appear to be a CSS problem but I can't quickly see what it is.

It takes planning!!!
Don't cross sell everything for the sake of cross selling. It will end up confusing the customer.
I prepare my cross sells carefully beforehand in a text file, with suitable comments.
Then I cut and paste them into the input boxes.
I start out small and cross sell a few items to see what it looks like on the website, until I find out what appears best. Often you will end up deleting those few and trying something else.
eg: Maybe you sell iphone4s
They come in 16gb, 32gb and 64gb. Also Black or White. So 6 different phones.
You also sell 10 different cases for these phones.
One way to cross sell:
You could cross sell All ways the 16 items against each other. 240 different cross sells.
When any of these items is displayed the other 15 items would be shown as a cross sell.
Quick and easy to do, but the display may be confusing.
Another way to cross sell:
Create a cross sell with the generic header "Similar Products"
Cross sell All ways the 6 phones against each other.
Create another cross sell with the generic header "Matching Products"
One Way cross sell all the cases to each (all) of the phones.
One way cross sell all the phones to each (all) of the cases.
Now when a phone is displayed.
You will have the cross sell "Similar Products" showing the other 5 phones.
You will also have the cross sell "Matching Products" showing the 10 cases.
If you have a case displayed instead.
You will also have the cross sell "Matching Products" showing the 6 phones that these cases fit.
This is more time consuming to do initially, but gives a better display of the cross sells. (imo)

You must have a common item in each group
or you entered both groups at the same time instead of separately entering each group.
btw: 3 items cross sell all ways = 6 cross sells
4 items cross sell all ways = 12 cross sells
Re: Multi Cross Sell mod [Support thread]
HI all
I installed this mod with no Isuues at all
I got this at the top after I put in cross sell
Product 75 has been added as a Cross-Sell to Product 179
Product 179 has been added as a Cross-Sell to Product 75
I also have this message
"The heading for this Cross Sell has not been defined in the Catalog"
When I go to either of the items I see nothing there.
I am using the "A modern zen template"
and running 1.5 if that matters
Thanks alot
Dave

These are defined in the file
\includes\languages\english\extra_definitions\YOUR_TEMPLATE\multi_xsell_box_defi nes.php
Check to see that..
You renamed the "YOUR_TEMPLATE" directories to the name of your template before uploading the "includes" directory files.
Then check that the "includes" directory files actually exist on the website.
