Actually what is missing is the master_categories_id on the Products in the products table ...
Do you use Linked Products?
If not, you can fix this in the Tools ... Store Manager ...
Quote:
Reset ALL Products Master Categories ID
to be used for Linked Products and Pricing: Reset
which may be what chadderuski meant, but just showed the wrong one ...Quote:
Update All Products' Attribute Sort Orders
to match Option Value Default Sort Orders:
Update
If you do use Linked Products, you will need to review the Products as the master_categories_id will pick up the lowest categories_id in the products_to_categories table for the master_categories_id ... and this may or may not be correct ... so those Products will need to be adjusted ...
After much button pressing and frustration, and trying all the above I have found the problem.
I used easypopulate to upload all the products (there were a lot of them).
The categories were there and the product count was there both in the admin and in the catalogue.
However no products could be viewed.
Turns out that in the csv I had mistyped the product name file by one character.
All the products were uploaded but because there was no product name it refused to show up.
Correcting the template and uploading again solved it however it does raise an issue.
Why won't the product display without a product name? If it did I would have seen straight away that the field was missing, but to not display the product at all left me going round in circles trying different things.

Easy Populate uploads folder not found!
NIX SERVERS: Your uploads folder is either missing, or you have altered the name and/or directory of your uploads folder without configuring this in Easy Populate.
WINDOWS SERVERS: Please request your web host to assign write permissions to the uploads folder. This is usually granted through Windows server user account IUSR_COMPUTERNAME.
Your configuration indicates that your uploads folder is named temp/, and is located in D:\Hosting\6717719\html\zencart/, however this cannot be found.
Easy Populate cannot upload files until you have provided an uploads folder with read/write/execute permissions for the site owner (usually chmod 700 but you may require chmod 777)
That is what i see wheni try to install easy populate. What am i doing wrong ?
I had similar on a linux box. There is a TEMP folder that needs write permission which it may not have by default.
Use an FTP programme or your hosts control panel to locate the directory and chmod it to 700. You can usually do this by right clicking on it and you'll often have an option to change the chmod. Depends on what programme you are using though.
Thank you so much for the quick reply. Your answer worked and helped me get easy populate to work on my website. My problem is there are so many products, with so many different attributes that all this has turned into a major headache. I am very new to Zen cart, easy populate, SQL, and any of the other programs needed to run a website. I had made some simple web sites but nothing on the level of what I am attempting to do now. The website I am working on is: www.majikalpath.com/zencart if you will notice I have already started putting the site together. I need a way to import more products into categories already made and import some into categories not made. The ones that i need ti import may have allot of attributes to them. Can someone please point me in the right direction on this. I have read all the information can get my hands on but nothing i do seems to work out properly. I have been using the old fashion version of copy and paste but this is taking forever. If you go look at : www.wiccansupplier.com you will see the type of site i am trying to produce. As you can see in their "herbs" section they have allot of different attributes with different prices. Is there a way of making this easier so someone as unlearned as myself can do this without using the copy and paste method? Any help would be most appreciated.
I'm just now getting my head around the attributes myself - so unfortunately at this time I can't help with that.
Hey Spencer,
One word of warning: ATTRIBUTES don't work correctly in 1.2.5.4.
You can try ATTRIBUTR, but it's not really suitable for newbies:

EP Advanced from Langer is supposed to have working attributes, but that products has no support here, and Langer is no longer supporting it.
There are a couple of us that have been working on updating EP. I've been working on a version myself with a goal of fixing attributes correctly. But if you've seen "The Money Pit" you know what my entire summer and fall have been like and <gasp> we're still not done!
Be sure to read the wiki... it will answer many questions.

Also, use OpenOffice. But be sure you know what character set you are using (UTF-8 vs ISO 8859-1).
Good luck.
Thank you for the reply. I have the original csv files and all i am suppose to need to just upload and build website but after getting all these files i am lost. The people who are my suppliers told me all i had to do was to load these files and everything would be set. I have tried that but the only way i can get things to look and work right is to do each product individually. It is driving me crazy because they use zen cart to build their site and files seem to have been downlopaded from a server as csv's. Can i just try to import them into the database and it all fall into place ?
I am am unable to get images to display. The upload went fine but all i see are little red "x"'s , I have tried Reset ALL Products Master Categories ID
to be used for Linked Products and Pricing: Didn't work. I have all the pictures in the image folder and they are the same as the descriptions. Can someone please help me with this problem. TIA. I buy ya a drink...
